- Trying to win the Three C's railroad line for his home town of Topaz, Colorado, Nicholas "Nick" Tarvin journeys to India to secure the famed jewel known as the Naulahka, which he plans to present to Mrs. Mutrie, the railroad president's wife. Nick's fiancée, Kate Sheriff, having graduated from medical school, also goes to India, but her aim is to provide the Indians with modern medical care. The Naulahka is possessed by the Maharajah, whose second wife, a dancer named Sitahbai, hopes to have her son, rather than the real prince, named as the heir to the Maharajah's throne. Sitahbai plans to kill the young prince, the son of the Maharajah's first wife, but Nick repeatedly saves him. After Sitahbai's plot to kill Nick fails, Nick threatens to hold the dancer captive until daybreak unless she gives him the Naulahka. Sitahbai reluctantly consents, but Kate, knowing that the loss of the jewel will mean Sitahbai's death, convinces Nick to return it to her. Kate and Nick return to Colorado without the Naulahka to find that the railroad tracks have already been laid through Topaz.
- Suave, lip-reading DA Thatcher Colt plans to get away from the big city for a while. So he and his secretary, Miss Kelly hop on a train for an Upstate NY town called Gilead. They expect a calm oasis, but when a small time circus rolls into town they soon find themselves caught up in a sordid tale of marital infidelity, murder, cruelty to animals, and cannibalism.

So Eve wins Lewis Dike, whom Cornelia loves. Immediately after her wedding Eve beings a series of dangerous adventures with Wilfred Meadows. Lewis learns of them and endeavors to reason with his wife, but she will not listen. As Cornelia is sailing for Europe, Lewis meets her at the dock, tells her that he made a mistake in marrying Eve and that they will be divorced--and that he loves Cornelia. - On the run from the New York police on a murder charge, gangster Broken Nose Dawson undergoes plastic surgery to change his appearance, then goes to Hollywood. Posing as millionaire playboy Spencer Dutro III, he manages to snag a part as a gangster in a movie from Zenith Studios. The studio's ambitious publicity director decides to make a star out of "Spencer", seeing that as a way to become a producer and not knowing who "Spencer" really is. Complications ensue.

- Bob, John, and Edward--three young boys growing up in the same neighborhood--have vastly-different experiences with sex. Consequently, when they become adults, John--who's been "playing the field"--contracts syphilis and is stopped from marrying and infecting his sweetheart. Edward, on the other hand, has become addicted to "self-love" and masturbates himself into an insane asylum. Wholesome Bob marries and, naturally, lives happily ever after.
