Top 15 of 2021 (Did something different this year where I picked a number one and then 14 others in no particular order. Seemed pointless to decide which of these are better than the other when I love and recommend them all.)
Honorable mentions: Benedetta, CODA, the Fear Street trilogy, Summertime (the Carlos López Estrada movie, not the Netflix show), C’mon C’mon, No Sudden Move, Werewolves Within, Spencer, Vicious Fun and Wrong Turn.
Titane, Licorice Pizza and The Tragedy of Macbeth were all notable, too, but I admired those movies on a technical level more so than I enjoyed watching them.
A couple of 2021 shows that I also loved and want to pause to mention (probably forgetting some): Midnight Mass, Succession: Season Three, Hellbound and The White Lotus.

- DirectorM. Night ShyamalanStarsMel GibsonJoaquin PhoenixRory CulkinA widowed former reverend living with his children and brother on a Pennsylvania farm finds mysterious crop circles in their fields, which suggests something more frightening to come.I enjoyed this movie quite a bit. I am a huge fan of Mel Gibson so this movie naturally caught my eye. I thought it was a good thriller and I liked the fact that the whole movie came together at the ending. But it is nothing abousetly spectacular or groundbreaking, so I would give this movie a B.
- DirectorJonathan MostowStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerNick StahlKristanna LokenA machine from a post-apocalyptic future travels back in time to protect a man and a woman from an advanced robotic assassin to ensure they both survive a nuclear attack. So the terminator series gets a new director. We all know that he won't be able to live up to James Cameroon, but what does the movie come out? Plain and simple. A summer blow them up and shoot them down film. Not much brains, but a lot of fire power. If you like action this is your movie. But if you like action and a really good. plot then this movie is only decent for you. It gets a B.
- DirectorHarald ZwartStarsJackie ChanJaden SmithTaraji P. HensonWork causes a single mother to move to China with her young son; in his new home, the boy embraces kung fu, taught to him by a master. It was a decent movie. I loved the original karate kid. So I thought I would give this one a try. It's not as good as the original, but its decent. I do not understand why the kid had to be black though, or the fact that the movie was 140 minutes long. That is far to long for a movie with Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith. I would give it a C+. I hope it didn't get good enough reviews for a sequal
- DirectorAndy TennantStarsJennifer AnistonGerard ButlerGio PerezA bounty hunter learns that his next target is his ex-wife, a reporter working on a murder cover-up. Soon after their reunion, the always-at-odds duo find themselves on a run-for-their-lives adventure.I did not enjoy this movie very much. It just wasn't funny. There is no humor in it. And then they bring in 3 different plot lines, that don't have anything to do with the main plot. Just plain and simple not a good movie. Thats all I can say. I would give it a D+.
- DirectorBrad BirdJan PinkavaStarsBrad GarrettLou RomanoPatton OswaltA rat who can cook makes an unusual alliance with a young kitchen worker at a famous Paris restaurant.Very very good movie. Who else would come up with a movie about a rat learning to cook besides Pixar? No one thats who. It can be a very inspirational film if you think about it, and its great for the whole family. Pixar once again you have blown are minds with your terrific movies. Deserves an A-. Keep it up
- DirectorRon HowardStarsTom HanksEwan McGregorAyelet ZurerHarvard symbologist Robert Langdon works with a nuclear physicist to solve a murder and prevent a terrorist act against the Vatican during one of the significant events within the church. An OK movie. Tom Hanks does a good performance for what its worth. But the movie itself is kind of boring. You just get lost in it, and not enough action in it if you ask me. The first half was just plain dull, the second half is what started to catch my attention. And it is a very long movie, perhaps a little bit to long. I give it a C+.
- DirectorGavin HoodStarsHugh JackmanLiev SchreiberRyan ReynoldsThe early years of James Logan, featuring his rivalry with his brother Victor Creed, his service in the special forces team Weapon X, and his experimentation into the metal-lined mutant Wolverine.Updated version: I feel like this one deserves a second look, because I gave it to much praise. I know I don't do updates very often, and I don't really like doing them, but X-Men Origins needs one. Because it's not a good X-men movie, it really isn't. It's really a mess. This was a huge opportunity for them to give everyone's favorite X-men a really cool backstory but they fail to deliver. There's nothing there for shaping him into the character that we all know and love, it's just a bunch of randomly placed action scenes with some of the worst CGI claws known to man. None of the knew characters really work into the story well, which is a bummer because a gambit spin off could have been cool. And they destroyed Deadpool. Destroyed him. It's just as bad as the Last Stand was because the whole thing is a mess and doesn't make that much sense, but if you just want action scenes involving mutants then here you go. Hugh Jackman still deserves credit for being a great Logan, and I actually kind of liked Liev Schreiber as Sabertooth, the writing was just bad for his character. X-Men Origins Wolverine gets a C with the updated version of this review.
- DirectorRob CohenStarsVin DieselPaul WalkerMichelle RodriguezLos Angeles police officer Brian O'Conner must decide where his loyalty really lies when he becomes enamored with the street racing world he has been sent undercover to end it.Believe it or not this was my first time watching this movie. And it gave me a new appreciation for Vin Diesel. I liked the movie. Sweet cars in sweet races. Only issue in the movie was that at the end there were still a few unanswered questions. But the racing was pretty frickin sweet. Gets a B. I will hopefully fine time to watch the next ones soon.
- DirectorJames GartnerStarsJosh LucasDerek LukeAustin NicholsIn 1966, Texas Western coach Don Haskins led the first all-black starting line-up for a college basketball team to the NCAA national championship.I remember when I saw this movie in theaters. When it was done I just sat in my car for a while thinking, wow. Just wow. It is a very inspirational movie. Except for the fact that we have seen it many times before. It is the classic make-up of any sports movie. Underdog doesn't stand a chance and then wins the championship. But still it really puts awareness in the movie, and shows some good basketball. Its a B movie.
- DirectorAndrew StantonStarsBen BurttElissa KnightJeff GarlinIn the distant future, a small waste-collecting robot inadvertently embarks on a space journey that will ultimately decide the fate of mankind.Ah another pixar movie. They make some of the best family movies ever. It is an enchanting film with a great story, easily lovable characters, it just got it all. And theres an actual life lesson about pollution. My only tiny issue with it is the lack of dialogue, sense the robots can hardly speak you don't hear much talking. But the film is a masterpiece. WALL-E is a win and gets an A-. Heck yea
- DirectorPeter BergStarsWill SmithCharlize TheronJason BatemanHancock is a superhero whose ill-considered behavior regularly causes damage in the millions. He changes when the person he saves helps him improve his public image.Interesting take on a movie. It was good though. I loved the idea of a drunken super hero. And having will smith play the part was genius. But it has a very interesting take on a super hero movie. It has plenty of laughs but it is just very different from other super hero movies. That's all I can really say. I give it a B-. Side note: this movie should have been rated R.
- DirectorDavid Mickey EvansStarsTom GuiryMike VitarArt LaFleurIn the summer of 1962, a new kid in town is taken under the wing of a young baseball prodigy and his rowdy team, resulting in many adventures.I think its a fun ride. Yea it has its corny moments obviously, but I think its a pretty funny movie. I laughed a lot and knowing that this movie was made in 1993 its pretty good. I loved the kid with all the freckles he made me laugh the most, because this was the first time I have seen this movie. I give it a B. Yea funny movie
- DirectorJay RoachStarsSteve CarellPaul RuddStephanie SzostakAfter he finds out that his work superiors host a dinner celebrating the idiocy of their special guests, a rising executive questions the merits of his invitation just as he befriends a man who would be the perfect guest.Call me a schmuck if you wish, but I found this movie absolutely laugh out loud funny. Steve Carell is the perfect person to play for this part. I will admit that the first hour and half moves slowly and then they try to cram the whole movie in with the last 20 min, but still you cannot sit through that movie with a straight face. I give it a B. Plot is decent and humor is off the scales. You may say I am a dreamer but I'm not the only one.
- DirectorMarc ForsterStarsDaniel CraigOlga KurylenkoMathieu AmalricJames Bond descends into mystery as he tries to stop a mysterious organisation from eliminating a country's most valuable resource. Its not as good as Casino Royal. This plot is a lot more complicated and confusing. James Bond is not his normal self. But on the positive side the action is intense and Daniel Craig does a fine job. No, I didn't understand much of the second half of the movie but the first half was pretty cool. So I give it a B-. I'd say its about time for a prequel.
- DirectorJohn McTiernanStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerF. Murray AbrahamArt CarneyWith the help of a magic ticket, a young movie fan is transported into the fictional world of his favorite action movie character. Its alright. The whole plot is a little bit odd when really all we want to see is Schwarzenegger unload on some bad guys. The kid gets kind of annoying after a while. And the movie goes on and on and on and right when you think its done it goes on some more. But on the bright side its a fun movie with 1 or 2 laughs. So its not like the movie is terrible. I give it a C+.
- DirectorMike MitchellStarsKurt RussellKelly PrestonMichael AngaranoSet in an era where superheroes are commonly known and accepted, young William Stronghold, the son of the Commander and Jetstream, tries to find a balance between being a normal teenager and an extraordinary being. Its fun but has its annoying moments. First the negative points. There are quite a few corny moments, too many for this type of movie. Plus half of the characters voices were quite annoying. And it is unrealistic for how teenagers act. But on the positive side. Its a fun movie and a fun ride. Theres some laughs in there, and the guy who shoots fire is pretty cool. I give it a B-.
- DirectorJon FavreauStarsRobert Downey Jr.Mickey RourkeGwyneth PaltrowWith the world now aware of his identity as Iron Man, Tony Stark must contend with both his declining health and a vengeful mad man with ties to his father's legacy. Not the same as the first, but it is a good summer flick. It does not have the good elaborate plot that the first one had but this one is still pretty good. The fighting is sweet. Mickey Rourke is cast perfectly. But on the downside of the cast: The new rhode isn't as good as the rhode in the first one. And the actor playing Justin Hammer plays a somewhat annoying performance. But it is still, like I said, a good summer flick. I give it a B-. I would still recommend it
- DirectorJohn McTiernanStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerCarl WeathersKevin Peter HallA team of commandos on a mission in a Central American jungle find themselves hunted by an extraterrestrial warrior.Solid movie. I'd say that besides Terminator 2 this is one of Schwarzengger's best movies. I like how they have the fact that at first they don't know whats hunting them. That's what gives the movie the adrenaline rush. Then how people keep dyeing one by one. Makes it a scary, action packed adventure. I give it a A-. Highly recommended movie if you like strong violent movies.
- DirectorGeorge NolfiStarsMatt DamonEmily BluntLisa ThoresonThe affair between a politician and a contemporary dancer is affected by mysterious forces keeping the lovers apart.I kinda liked it. I mean its a new kind of plot we haven't seen before. Could have used some more action in it but thats not the real problem. I'd say that the real problem was the fact that it tried to be a complicated thriller, but it wasn't. It's kind of trying to be an inception with more drama, but it isn't. The plot is simple when it is trying to be complicated. But anyways it was still pretty good. The adjustmen Bureau gets a B-.
- DirectorLana WachowskiLilly WachowskiStarsKeanu ReevesLaurence FishburneCarrie-Anne MossWhen a beautiful stranger leads computer hacker Neo to a forbidding underworld, he discovers the shocking truth--the life he knows is the elaborate deception of an evil cyber-intelligence.What is the matrix you ask? The matrix is nothing less than a baller movie! Complicated but yet full of tons and shooting. Great plot keeps you wondering. Great acting, no complaints. The visual affects are also amazing, they wouldn't be half bad in 2011 so that should tell you something. It's intense, edge on your seat type of movie. I give it an A-. I. love. this. movie.
- DirectorEdward ZwickStarsLeonardo DiCaprioDjimon HounsouJennifer ConnellyA fisherman, a smuggler, and a syndicate of businessmen match wits over the possession of a priceless diamond. This movie is beautiful. It is a gem. The story can touch your heart. Really you get out of it what you put in it. And the acting is wonderful. This probably is one of my favorites of Leonardo Dicapiro's work. Lots of action (but its kind of depressing since half the people shooting are kids), and good drama mixed in there. Like I said you get out of it what you put in. You either love it or hate it. I give it a B+. See this movie
- DirectorJames CameronStarsSam WorthingtonZoe SaldanaSigourney WeaverA paraplegic Marine dispatched to the moon Pandora on a unique mission becomes torn between following his orders and protecting the world he feels is his home.Great movie. The visual and special effects are spectacular. I personally think that this movie should have won the oscar for best movie. The story line was really really great too. The acting was definitely good too. James Cameroon may be one of the best directors out there. His works amaze us everytime. Just like this movie. Amazing. I give it an A-.
- DirectorRob CohenStarsVin DieselAsia ArgentoMarton CsokasThe US government recruits extreme sports athlete Xander Cage to infiltrate a Russian criminal ring, which is plotting the destruction of the world. The movies name was xXx but really it should have just gotten three big XXXes. In other words I didn't care for it to much. Don't get me wrong I love Vin Diesel. He is a beast. But the stunts were unrealistic. Theres no way that anyone could do half of the things that he did. Plus the plot starts out good but then halfway through the movie just gets totally sidetracked for a while. xXx gets a C.
- DirectorGuy RitchieStarsRobert Downey Jr.Jude LawRachel McAdamsDetective Sherlock Holmes and his stalwart partner Watson engage in a battle of wits and brawn with a nemesis whose plot is a threat to all of England.Pretty Good movie. Its smart witty and funny. It works on almost all levels. Downey captured holmes perfectly. He is the one that makes this film worth watching. My only issue with the movie is that it seems far fetched as some points of time. Also it can move rather slow at some points of the movie. But other than that its really a great movie. Sherlock Holmes gets a B+. Cannot wait for the sequal!
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsLeonardo DiCaprioJoseph Gordon-LevittElliot PageA thief who steals corporate secrets through the use of dream-sharing technology is given the inverse task of planting an idea into the mind of a C.E.O., but his tragic past may doom the project and his team to disaster. This is one of my all time favorite movies. Its a wonderful film that requires multiple watchings. It can be very confusing at first but if you watch it a few more times it will make sense. When it makes sense you are going to love this film. Its Smart. Its thrilling. Its action packed. Its just awesome. And it has Leonardo Dicapiro. What more to ask for? This movie is something we have never seen before. It easily gets an A.
- DirectorTony ScottStarsDenzel WashingtonChris PineRosario DawsonWith an unmanned, half-mile-long freight train barreling toward a city, a veteran engineer and a young conductor race against the clock to prevent a catastrophe. If someone just tells you the description of this movie your going to think this movie sounds lame. But if you actually take time to watch it you realize that its 90 minutes of non stop thrills and it is far from lame. So brings us to the question, why is this film so good? The fact that it gathers the intenseness and the fact that anyone can follow this movie. In other words its great. I give it a B+.
- DirectorBryan SingerStarsPatrick StewartHugh JackmanHalle BerryWhen anti-mutant Colonel William Stryker kidnaps Professor X and attacks his school, the X-Men must ally with their archenemy Magneto to stop him.I am an X-man fan. That is for sure. But this is a good film for everyone to watch. I'd say its almost twice as good as the original x-man film. This has a much better plot. The movie is a bit long and yes some of the moments never add up. But its just sweet. The action is cool, and its also cool because you don't have to see the first one for it to make sense. It gets a B. If you have a free night then I would watch this movie.
- DirectorRob CohenStarsJosh LucasJessica BielJamie FoxxDeeply ensconced in a top-secret military program, three pilots struggle to bring an artificial intelligence program under control before it initiates the next world war.Would I recommend this movie? I'd have to say no. First of all it is boring. I mean common. The bad guy is a robot plane. Is that really the best that they got? You need absolutely no brains to watch this movie. And it can't pick a plot. I mean are we fighting the plane or koreans? Also this movie seemed a lot like a rip off of top gun I must say. The acting was also poor. I give stealth a D. Boo.
- DirectorRidley ScottStarsRussell CroweCate BlanchettMatthew MacfadyenIn twelfth-century England, Robin Longstride and his band of marauders confront corruption in a local village and lead an uprising against the crown that will forever alter the balance of world power. This is a pretty good film. In this movie there are a lot of good parts but there are a lot of not so good parts, so they really cancel each other out. First the not so good part. Its pointless. The whole movie has nothing to do with the story of Robin Hood everyone knows. So really it is pointless. Also its not a very fun film. But the positive side: what it lacks it fun it makes up for in entertainment, battles, and great acting. I give it a B. I'd still watch this movie.
- DirectorSteven SoderberghStarsGeorge ClooneyBrad PittJulia RobertsDanny Ocean and his ten accomplices plan to rob three Las Vegas casinos simultaneously. This is a good movie. It is a ton of fun. I love the whole plot and everything. They got a list of A name celebrities which only adds to the fun. Its just really good. There humorous moments in it and then theres the dangerous parts when there inside the casino. It just makes for all and all a really good movie. The 2 brothers made me laugh the most. But I give Ocean's 11 a B+. Good movie for teens and adults.
- DirectorMike MitchellStarsMike MyersCameron DiazEddie MurphyRumpelstiltskin tricks a mid-life crisis burdened Shrek into allowing himself to be erased from existence and cast in a dark alternate timeline where Rumpelstiltskin rules supreme.Well, it wasn't great but it does fall in somewheres between shrek 2 and 3, which makes it a not terrible finale. Like I said this one was better than the third and pretty close to the second. And it actually has a pretty good story this time. And the humor was decent, nothing your going to laugh over for days, but it was decent. You get more than what you except out of this one, even if that isn't much. I'd give it a C+. Watch it if your bored
- DirectorLee UnkrichStarsTom HanksTim AllenJoan CusackThe toys are mistakenly delivered to a day-care center instead of the attic right before Andy leaves for college, and it's up to Woody to convince the other toys that they weren't abandoned and to return home.Toy story 3 you made me laugh, you nearly made me cry. Thank you toy story 3 for completing my childhood. This is my favorite animated movie. ever. It is heart touching in every way. I do not know if it is possible to have a dry eye in the audience. And it is so funny too. Perfect for any age. The ending is very satisfying and everything. Pixar's best movie. Animation's best movie. One of the best movies. Without any doubt an A.
- DirectorTony ScottStarsDenzel WashingtonChristopher WalkenDakota FanningIn Mexico City, a former CIA operative swears vengeance on those who committed an unspeakable act against the family he was hired to protect. What you see in the trailer is what you get, but that still makes it pretty good. Aka predictable. It has its good moments and its not so good moments. And it is a very grim and dark movie. Denzel does great in it perfect man for the role. But its a bit unrealistic because a man could not pick off the baddies one by one, im pretty sure they would join up and rip his guts out. But its still a good movie. I'd give it a B+.
- DirectorPhillip NoyceStarsAngelina JolieLiev SchreiberChiwetel EjioforA CIA agent goes on the run after a defector accuses her of being a Russian spy.Its a good thriller. And it is not your ordinary summer blockbuster film. This one actually has a thought provoking plot. But I like it. And it is going to be interesting to see what it would do if they would have a sequel. But it does seem like they can just Jolie do whatever they want, whether escape from the FBI or run up and down walls, she can do it all. But I would still recommended it. I give it a B.
- DirectorJesse DylanStarsWill FerrellRobert DuvallJosh HutchersonFamily man Phil Weston, a lifelong victim of his father's competitive nature, takes on the coaching duties of a kids' soccer team, and soon realizes that he's also taking on his father's dysfunctional way of relating. It is a funny movie, but yet there are so many numerous problems it almost distracts you from the humor. The humor is good, and in the end it does make you smile. But the main most obvious reason is that Mike Ditka simply does not make for much of an actor. It was a good idea to have a real famous coach, but next time try to get one who can half act. Also there were numerous mistakes made in the film, that are very noticeable if you watch it. I give it a C. Its still funny.
- DirectorZack SnyderStarsGerard ButlerLena HeadeyDavid WenhamIn the ancient battle of Thermopylae, King Leonidas and 300 Spartans fight against Xerxes and his massive Persian army. They face insurmountable odds when they are betrayed by a Spartan reject.2 words. Frickin insane. Aboustelty amazing. I know that not all movie critics would agree with this, but I loved it. Dazzling. The action is so amazing and everything. And Leonidas is one of my most favorite movie characters ever. Hes such a beast and he is ripped. The ending gives me shivers every time. This movie was prepared for glory. I give it an A. Its a stunning film that can hit both your head and your heart.
- DirectorJohn Lee HancockStarsQuinton AaronSandra BullockTim McGrawThe story of Michael Oher, a homeless and traumatized boy who became an All-American football player and first-round NFL draft pick with the help of a caring woman and her family.A heartwarming movie in which Sandra Bullock stars. Its truly is an inspirational. It knows its football but it also teaches us about the true meaning of life, family. And as I said, Sandra Bullock is amazing in this movie. My one issue is that the film, in a way, is racist. That none of that would have happened without their help. But still you feel good at the end on the movie. Gets a B+
- DirectorLen WisemanStarsBruce WillisJustin LongTimothy OlyphantJohn McClane and a young hacker join forces to take down master cyber-terrorist Thomas Gabriel in Washington D.C.A good movie to watch. And in the long run it was better than I originally thought it was going to be. I think it satisfies all of the die hard fans. It doubles the gun powder and takes away the brains. In other words, you don't need much brains. But its a great shoot em up bang bang film. Very entertaining, I will be watching it again soon. Bruce Willis does fine. This is a B movie right here. Enjoy.
- DirectorShawn LevyStarsBen StillerCarla GuginoRicky GervaisA newly recruited night security guard at the Museum of Natural History discovers that an ancient curse causes the animals and exhibits on display to come to life and wreak havoc.Yea the special effects are cool, but the story, honestly, sucked. One big problem with this movie is that Ben Stiller is simply not funny. He tries to make us laugh but really were just starring at him going wowww. The story line is very weak, it can't hold itself together. In the end we have a boring movie that doesn't even crack a smile and no excitement. A D+. Skip it.
- DirectorScott DerricksonStarsKeanu ReevesJennifer ConnellyKathy BatesA remake of the 1951 classic science fiction film about an alien visitor and his giant robot counterpart who visit Earth.Pathetic try of a remake. All in all not a very good movie. Even Keanu Reves, the super star we once knew from the Matrix looked bored in this movie. They took it far to serious. The title makes it sound thrilling and exciting and maybe even a little funny but what you get is a mixture of serious boredom. I have never seen the original but I heard that it was a lot better than this. I give it a C-.
- DirectorMcGStarsCameron DiazDrew BarrymoreLucy LiuThree women, detectives with a mysterious boss, retrieve stolen voice-ID software, using martial arts, tech skills, and sex appeal. To be honest.....I thought it was awful. A bunch of chicks just running around trying to fight people and trying to be funny. It was just bad. Thats all I know what to say. They thought that the eye candy of the chicks would be enough. Well, it wasnt. It wasnt at all. Id recommend to definitly skip this one, but thats all I can really say about this one. Gets a D. Dont watch it.
- DirectorJustin LinStarsVin DieselPaul WalkerDwayne JohnsonDominic Toretto and his crew of street racers plan a massive heist to buy their freedom while in the sights of a powerful Brazilian drug lord and a dangerous federal agent.I just got back from the theatre and surprissingly, i really liked it. The action and the driving was amazing. The whole time its just tons and tons of action. I'd say as far as entertainment wise, it was the best one. It is a ton of fun. But lots of action makes for not a very strong plot, which is true. So you dont need to many brains to watch it. I had a great time watching it, and I think they ended it right. I give it a B. Watch it”
- DirectorTom McGrathStarsWill FerrellJonah HillBrad PittEvil genius Megamind finally defeats his do-gooder nemesis, Metro Man, but is left without a purpose in a superhero-free world. It was a interesting twist on a super hero movies, which worked, but more importantly it was mega funny. It gives you someone to root for. I wish I could have seen it in 3D because i bet that would make it even more fun, but either way it is still a fun ride. Will Ferrel was great in this, he really was put into the role well. Jonah Hill gave a little bit of an annoying performance, but all and all not to bad. I give it a B+. Everyone in the family is going to enjoy this one.
- DirectorTodd PhillipsStarsZach GalifianakisBradley CooperJustin BarthaThree buddies wake up from a bachelor party in Las Vegas, with no memory of the previous night and the bachelor missing. They make their way around the city in order to find their friend before his wedding. An extremely funny movie. It was very good. First of all the cast was fantastic especially Zach Galifianakis as Alan was just perfect. He really kept the humor moving through the whole film. And theres was just one surprise after another that just kept coming which made it even more hilarious. It was a huge summer hit and I am so excited for the next one to come out, which looks just as funny. Gets an A-. wow this is frickin hilarious stuff
- DirectorLouis LeterrierStarsSam WorthingtonLiam NeesonRalph FiennesPerseus, a demigod and the son of Zeus, battles the minions of Hades and the Underworld in order to stop them from conquering Olympus and Earth. The special effects are neat, but the rest of the movie is poor. Yes, I will give you that, the gods and goddesses are cool looking in a sense that we would like to see more of them. Also it is a great way to learn about greek mythology. But the movie is, well, sloppy. The actors seemed embarrassed to be in it. The whole movie just feels like it is weak, sort of like we have seen it before. I'd give it a B-. Its not bad but that doesn't mean its great
- DirectorBen StillerStarsBen StillerJack BlackRobert Downey Jr.Through a series of freak occurrences, a group of actors shooting a big-budget war movie are forced to become the soldiers they are portraying.A film that works in some ways, but at the same time it doesn't, but either way it sure makes us laugh. First off I don't like Stiller, personally I don't think he has ever made a good movie. But I did like the rest of the cast. It is a good blockbuster with plenty of laughs. But in some way its mocking itself. It mocks war movies with lots of money while it itself is a war movie with lots of money. hmmm interesting. I give it a B.
- DirectorPeter JacksonStarsElijah WoodViggo MortensenIan McKellenGandalf and Aragorn lead the World of Men against Sauron's army to draw his gaze from Frodo and Sam as they approach Mount Doom with the One Ring. Some people won't watch it because its to lengthy, some won't watch it because they didn't see the first two. Know why I will watch it? They just don't make enough movies like this one anyway. It was fantastic. It is a jewel really. Great entertainment with lots of hardcore battles but yet lots of plot and everything. And in the end it ties it all together. Peter Jackson really made something great. A-. Stunning.
- DirectorJames CameronStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerLinda HamiltonEdward FurlongA cyborg, identical to the one who failed to kill Sarah Connor, must now protect her ten year old son John from an even more advanced and powerful cyborg. This is my favorite one of the terminator series. A work of art really, all put together by James Cameron. Keep in mind how old this movie is then think of the special effects, and its really quite amazing. The action is still even cool even though its so old. And you can never ever go wrong with an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie. It is really good. I give it an A-.
- DirectorClint EastwoodStarsMorgan FreemanMatt DamonTony KgorogeNelson Mandela, in his first term as President of South Africa, initiates a unique venture to unite the Apartheid-torn land: enlist the national rugby team on a mission to win the 1995 Rugby World Cup.A truly inspiring movie, with only one slightly small problem. But first I shall praise it. It inspired me. Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela was truly wonderful. I think it definitely deserved a nomination for the best picture. A great story, and its even cooler knowing that this really happened not to long ago. But the one slight problem. Boredom. Rugby gets boring to watch after awhile. But thats it. It gets a B+.
- DirectorEdward ZwickStarsDenzel WashingtonBruce WillisAnnette BeningThe secret U.S. abduction of a suspected terrorist leads to a wave of terrorist attacks in New York City, which leads to the declaration of martial-law.Its not to bad. But I felt like there was just something missing from the whole movie. It wasn't the acting because I enjoyed both Denzel Washington and Bruce Willis' performance. But there was just something that wasn't there. Maybe we needed more Bruce Willis, I'm just not really sure. I would give it a C+. Sidenote- I hate the picture they have for this, I wish they went with the normal poster.
- DirectorMichel GondryStarsSeth RogenJay ChouChristoph WaltzFollowing the death of his father, Britt Reid, heir to his father's large company, teams up with his late dad's assistant Kato to become a masked crime fighting team.I liked it better watching it the first time in theaters. I bought it today, and I'm not sure if that was the best idea. This time moreover I realized that Seth Rogen doesn't make much as an action super hero, but yet he makes up for it with fun. The villain in the movie is completely annoying, but Jay Chou is a baller. It just never really gets there. I'd still watch it but don't excepct to much. I give it a C.
- DirectorJared HessStarsJon HederEfren RamirezJon GriesA listless and alienated teenager decides to help his new friend win the class presidency in their small western high school, while he must deal with his bizarre family life back home.A very risky move which brings about a new kind of humor. At times it seems like one the funniest movies I have ever seen before. But at other times it seems like its just dragging on and on. So in the end we are left somewhere's in the middle. There is aboustely no plot to it almost which makes it all the risky. And the plot wasn't necessarily the problem. I just felt like it was going on and on. I give it a B. Still you will laugh till it hurts.
- DirectorRobert SchwentkeStarsBruce WillisHelen MirrenMorgan FreemanWhen his peaceful life is threatened by a high-tech assassin, former black-ops agent Frank Moses reassembles his old team in a last-ditch effort to survive and uncover his assailants. The entire movie was basically nothing but a 111 minute excuse to give Helen Mirren some uzi's and a machine gun. But its not like wow so amazing, but its entertainment. I would still watch it but don't expect it to get too great. The comedy was decent, but I more preferred the action in this one. Morgan Freeman's performance stood out to me more than any one else. I give it a B-. Still, I mean why not watch it?
- DirectorRoland EmmerichStarsMel GibsonHeath LedgerJoely RichardsonPeaceful farmer Benjamin Martin is driven to lead the Colonial Militia during the American Revolution when a sadistic British officer murders his son.Educational, Exciting, and above all Inspirational. A truly amazing work of art here. Tells a fantastic story that Americans can relate to. One of my favorite Mel Gibson movies. And it has Heath Ledger in it too and thats just awesome. I loved it all. Plenty of action in it as well, although it is very bloody action. I just really enjoyed it. Gets an A-. Well worth your time.
- DirectorJohn LuessenhopStarsChris BrownHayden ChristensenMatt DillonA group of bank robbers find their multi-million dollar plan interrupted by a hard-boiled detective.Well its many things but one thing overall, instantly forgettable. I watched it about 20 minutes ago and already forget half the movie. I'll admit I liked the cast. They get some good people in there who do a fine job. But the whole movie is just weak, it just kind of flops around not sure what its going to do next, so the plot isn't very solid. The takers take many things: money, girls, but above all they take your time. Gets a C.
- DirectorRob MarshallStarsJohnny DeppPenélope CruzIan McShaneJack Sparrow and Barbossa embark on a quest to find the elusive fountain of youth, only to discover that Blackbeard and his daughter are after it too.It works. Just Barely but I guess it works. First of all understand coming into this it is nothing more than a blockbuster. Having known that also understand that the entire movie, all of it, is Johnny Depp. I am struggling to think of a scene he is not in. That can be a good thing or a bad thing, your choice. But the movie itself isn't terrible. Parts of it make you stop and think, wait haven't we seen this before? But its not too bad. I'd give it a B-.
- DirectorTom ShadyacStarsSteve CarellMorgan FreemanLauren GrahamGod contacts Congressman Evan Baxter and tells him to build an ark in preparation for a great flood. The message is good, Steve Carell makes me chuckle, and I like Morgan Freeman as God, but otherwise not to good. It's just not that interesting. The only jokes come from Steve Carell like one every half an hour. To make a good comedy it helps to have some jokes. The other acting is pretty much poor. Just doesn't work out. Gets a C-. Doesn't float my boat.
- DirectorPaul HaggisStarsRussell CroweElizabeth BanksLiam NeesonA married couple's life is turned upside down when the wife is accused of a murder.Takes a long time to get somewhere, but it is still really thrilling. The bad part is its long. The movie did not have to be over 2 hours long, and yet it was. We have to wait almost an hour and a half just to get down to the good stuff. So it was a long wait. But when it finally gets to the part of breaking out it is thrilling and exciting, and some surprises in there. So all in all I would still see it. I give it a B-.
- DirectorJohn McTiernanStarsSean ConneryAlec BaldwinScott GlennIn November 1984, the Soviet Union's best submarine captain violates orders and heads for the U.S. in a new undetectable sub. The American CIA and military must quickly determine: Is he trying to defect or to start a war?a good story, with very good acting, but its a little long and a little boring. The story overall is really good. Tom Clancy was a genius for coming up with this. And Alec Baldwin along with Sean Connery, Magnificent. The length itself is not the problem except for the fact that not to much happens as the length keeps on going. So all in all I still give this classic a B.
- DirectorGore VerbinskiStarsJohnny DeppOrlando BloomKeira KnightleyJack Sparrow races to recover the heart of Davy Jones to avoid enslaving his soul to Jones' service, as other friends and foes seek the heart for their own agenda as well.Overall its pretty good. The only things that I did not like about it is that the first almost 45 minutes where Jack is on the island are unnecessary to the story so I think they should have shortened that up a bit. Also they do not have a good enough contrast of Jack and Will. But otherwise I like it. I like Davy Jones and I like the whole plot that goes along with it. I give it a B.
- DirectorJohn G. AvildsenStarsSylvester StalloneTalia ShireBurt YoungReluctantly retired from fighting, Rocky takes charge of Mickey's gym and agrees to train a young protégé who's hungry for success.Well the plot would have been great, except Hollywood cheezified it, which makes the only real good about the movie is the fight in the end. I have not seen all the Rocky movies so I don't really know how this compares to the others. But the plot itself seemed very sappy. That's the best word I can use to describe it. But the fight in the end is very sweet and leaves us in the eyes of a champion. I give it a C-.
- DirectorEthan CoenJoel CoenStarsJeff BridgesMatt DamonHailee SteinfeldA stubborn teenager enlists the help of a tough U.S. Marshal to track down her father's murderer. This is probably one of the best films of 2010 that I have seen. Great acting, great story, and a great remake. It's a classic western. And that is part of why the story line is so good. Jeff Bridges surprised me at how perfectly he fit this role. Matt Damon also fits his role well. The Coen brothers just really out did themselves with this one. I give it a A-. Definitly see this one
- DirectorChris ColumbusStarsLogan LermanKevin McKiddSteve CooganA teenager discovers he's the descendant of a Greek god and sets out on an adventure to settle an on-going battle between the gods.Half good. It has an interesting story line but yet it seems like it is struggling to be Harry Potter. The acting wasn't that good, and although I never read the books, I hear the movie is quite different. I also think that the Madousa seen was done completely wrong. But still I give them credit for trying to make the next generation Harry Potter. I'd give it a C+. A decent movie
- DirectorSylvester StalloneStarsSylvester StalloneAntonio TarverMilo VentimigliaThirty years after the ring of the first bell, Rocky Balboa comes out of retirement and dons his gloves for his final fight against the reigning heavyweight champ Mason 'The Line' Dixon.I expected a desperate failure of a movie that was just trying to keep the series alive, what I got was much more better than that. It was a great surprise. It is really a heartwarming story, something we could have never expected. It makes you smile. And the fight at the end is also pretty awesome too. Sylvester Stallone did a better job as a retired Rocky then I guessed he would. I give it a B.
- DirectorMatthew VaughnStarsJames McAvoyMichael FassbenderJennifer LawrenceIn the 1960s, superpowered humans Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr work together to find others like them, but Erik's vengeful pursuit of an ambitious mutant who ruined his life causes a schism to divide them.It works out pretty good, and its a lot of fun. This prequel was better than pretty much everyone guessed it to be. There's a lot of action to keep the movie going and yet it has time to be smart to. It's just a fun movie I'd say. And I like how it happened before all the other ones, that was good. I give it a B+. And the one scene with wolverine was probably the best scene in the entire movie hahaha.
- DirectorMichael AptedStarsBen BarnesSkandar KeynesGeorgie HenleyLucy and Edmund Pevensie return to Narnia with their cousin Eustace where they meet up with Prince Caspian for a trip across the sea aboard the royal ship The Dawn Treader. Along the way they encounter dragons, dwarves, merfolk, and a band of lost warriors before reaching the edge of the world. Its a good family adventure, but there's such a lack for any drama in this movie that it may not be worth your time. The story itself just goes no where. I personally think that this was the worst one of the series. The youngsters will like it, but the rest of the family will just be sighing through the whole movie since its just bits of randomly action all brought together and tried to be tied together to make a movie. I give it a C.
- DirectorBryan SingerStarsPatrick StewartHugh JackmanIan McKellenIn a world where mutants (evolved super-powered humans) exist and are discriminated against, two groups form for an inevitable clash: the supremacist Brotherhood, and the pacifist X-Men.A quality movie. The story line is great, and I liked it even more this time now that I have seen the new one. But yea its a great story, Hugh Jacksman is in it as Wolverine which makes it good. And the special effects are pretty cool considering it was made 11 years ago. So yea its a good movie to watch. I give it a B+. I am a big x-men fan if you haven't yet noticed.
- DirectorMatthew VaughnStarsAaron Taylor-JohnsonNicolas CageChloë Grace MoretzDave Lizewski is an unnoticed high school student and comic book fan who one day decides to become a superhero, even though he has no powers, training or meaningful reason to do so.Wasn't att all what I expected. And with this movie you either liked it or you hated it. And I liked it. Its funny and yet then out of no where you get high intense bloody violence from a 10 year old girl. Its irresistible. A great adaption of a comic. Warning: It is a lot more violent then we could have ever guessed from the previews. But yea if you can, than I would watch this one. I give it a B+.
- DirectorRoland EmmerichStarsDennis QuaidJake GyllenhaalEmmy RossumJack Hall, paleoclimatologist, must make a daring trek from Washington, D.C. to New York City to reach his son, trapped in the cross-hairs of a sudden international storm which plunges the planet into a new Ice Age.Some of it is entertaining to watch, such as the special effects are neat. But some of what we get from The Day after Tomorrow is stupid and pointless. This movie is trying to scare us into becoming better people, and yet we aren't scarred in the slightest. But that doesn't mean were laughing because there isn't even the chance of a single laugh in this movie. I give it a C+.
- DirectorJames MangoldStarsRussell CroweChristian BaleBen FosterA small-time rancher agrees to hold a captured outlaw who's awaiting a train to go to court in Yuma. A battle of wills ensues as the outlaw tries to psych out the rancher. When you got names like Russel Crowe and Christian Bale in a movie together you know that the acting will be very well done. And it was. And the directing was also very well done. But the acting is what really makes this movie really good. There was enough action to satisfy, maybe would have liked a little more, but all in all it was good enough. But yes watch this classic western tale because with the acting its worth it. It gets a B+.
- DirectorEdward ZwickStarsMatthew BroderickDenzel WashingtonCary ElwesRobert Gould Shaw leads the U.S. Civil War's first all-black volunteer company, fighting prejudices from both his own Union Army, and the Confederates.A good, inspiring movie. It tells a very interesting tale, and it tells it well. And there is no question as to why Denzel Washington won the oscar for the piece. Because Denzel stood out. Morgan Freeman and Mathew Broderick also do good jobs, but Denzel just really stood out in this one. And the whole story and everything is remarkable. Although the ending is very sad. I give it an A-.
- DirectorMichael BayStarsShia LaBeoufRosie Huntington-WhiteleyTyrese GibsonThe Autobots learn of a Cybertronian spacecraft hidden on the moon, and race against the Decepticons to reach it and to learn its secrets.I have always been a fan of the transformers movies even when the critics said they were trash. But on this one, I started to see there side. This one is totally different than the other ones. There's almost no humor which gives the film a depressing feeling. It's not as much fun as the other ones too. Plus the sound of metal fighting metal gives you a headache. Also the plot was a lot lamer than the other ones, and very very predictable. I give it a C. But I will admit there is still some pretty cool action in there.
- DirectorShawn LevyStarsSteve MartinBonnie HuntHilary DuffWith his wife on a book tour, Tom Baker finds his life turned upside down when he agrees to care for his twelve children while simultaneously also coaching his new football team.Has some laughs, and a pretty decent cast thanks to Steve Martin and Ashton Kutcher, but that's about it. The movie tries to charm us and provide us with a heart warming story with a family we love. But that's the problem. We don't know the family and they expect us to just love them and feel there pain when they move right when we first meet them. But, gotta love steve Martin. Still I give it a C+.
- DirectorMichael BayStarsShia LaBeoufMegan FoxJosh DuhamelAn ancient struggle between two Cybertronian races, the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons, comes to Earth, with a clue to the ultimate power held by a teenager.I think that its pretty dang good. And I don't care what the critics say because I don't understand why they don't like these movies. Michael Bay does an excellent job directing this one. And then when you got amazing special effects and Shia Labouf in there it just makes for a fun movie. The plot of course, can be summed up in one word: Destruction. But its funny and its a cool movie so I'll give it a B.
- DirectorJohn McTiernanStarsBruce WillisAlan RickmanBonnie BedeliaA New York City police officer tries to save his estranged wife and several others taken hostage by terrorists during a Christmas party at the Nakatomi Plaza in Los Angeles.A quality action movie. Its just good fun. This is still one of the best action movies, that has still to be topped. Bruce Willis is a total stud here and I like him in this role. Maybe even one of his best roles. It's a heart pounding thriller the entire time, and that's part of the reason it's so good. I don't really know what else to tell you except watch this classic action movie. It gets an A.
- DirectorBrian De PalmaStarsTom CruiseJon VoightEmmanuelle BéartAn American agent, under false suspicion of disloyalty, must discover and expose the real spy without the help of his organization.I'd say its decent. The plot is hard to follow just because it is missing stuff and other stuff just goes right over are hard which makes it a hard movie to follow. Sometimes you have no idea what they are doing when you should know. I haven't seen the tv series but i heard that it was better than the movie. So you might want to lower your expectations a little before watching. But I'd give it a C+. Decent.
- DirectorNimród AntalStarsAdrien BrodyLaurence FishburneTopher GraceA group of elite warriors parachute into an unfamiliar jungle and are hunted by members of a merciless alien race.Fast paced and action packed, yes, but it is missing that makes it stand out. A something to a sequel of predator, this film will offer you a good time. There is plenty of actions, a little humor, and some scary parts. You will enjoy it while you watch it. But its just lacking any big thing to really make us remember it by. The special effects are just what we expected and nothing more. But I'd give it a B. I'd say its in the same ball park as the original predator.
- DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsHarrison FordKate CapshawKe Huy QuanIn 1935, Indiana Jones is tasked by Indian villagers with reclaiming a rock stolen from them by a secret cult beneath the catacombs of an ancient palace.Entertaining and pretty good. Not as good as raiders of the lost ark, because none of the indiana jones movies topped that one. But this one is still pretty good. There were a few large mistakes that are noticeable but luckily there's enough action and fun to cover it up. They went in a total different track than the first one, and it turned up pretty good. So all in all I would reward it with a B+.
- DirectorMichael BayStarsShia LaBeoufMegan FoxJosh DuhamelSam Witwicky leaves the Autobots behind for a normal life. But when his mind is filled with cryptic symbols, the Decepticons target him and he is dragged back into the Transformers' war.Updated Version: Sometimes I just need to re do my review for certain movies because my opinion has totally changed. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen falls into the category, because I cannot stand this movie. Originally I gave it a B, but I would like to change that because I view it very very very worse than a B. This thing is awful. It is probably Michael Bay's worst. And I still stick by my grade for the first transformers, so this really feel far. Michael Bay tries to make it so funny by trying to insert his comedy all over this movie, but it is not funny at all it's just really annoying and immature. He also tries to make everything really cool with explosions and stuff everywhere but half the time you can't even tell what's happening. The story is stupid beyond believe, the acting is downright bad by everyone, Revenge of the Fallen is a terrible sequel that you should avoid at all cost. It gets a D-.
- DirectorEric BrevigStarsDan AykroydJustin TimberlakeAnna FarisA documentary filmmaker travels to Jellystone Park to shoot a project and soon crosses paths with Yogi Bear, his sidekick Boo-Boo and Ranger Smith.Obviously intended for children under the age of 5, except for the fact that anyone over the age of 5 will find it incredibly corny and lame. So many problems with this movie. The screen play is as boring as could be, the humor is just down right terrible, even the animation isn't very good. The 2 bears aren't even on screen for half the movie (a total of 70 minutes). I give it a D. I would definitely say skip this one.
- DirectorJ.J. AbramsStarsChris PineZachary QuintoSimon PeggThe brash James T. Kirk tries to live up to his father's legacy with Mr. Spock keeping him in check as a vengeful Romulan from the future creates black holes to destroy the Federation one planet at a time. With a crew like this, we are excited to face the future. It is a very good movie. A great story that keeps us interested, and thinking, followed by some out of this world action to keep it moving along. And sense this is remake, we can be excited for the fact that a sequel would be possible. It is a full thrill ride that is a lot of fun to watch. So I think that I am going to give it a A-. This one caught me by surprise but definitely see it.
- DirectorDavid YatesStarsDaniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintHarry, Ron, and Hermione search for Voldemort's remaining Horcruxes in their effort to destroy the Dark Lord as the final battle rages on at Hogwarts. My friend had to almost force me to go see this with him, and sense I had only seen the first four harry potter movies before I lost complete interest in the series,I was expecting boredom and dullness. Wow was I wrong. This is as good of as a finale to any movie that I have ever seen in my entire life. This is the best harry potter movie i've seen, and it might even be my favorite movie of the year so far. Leaves you completely satisfied. Gets an A no doubt in my mind.
- DirectorMel GibsonStarsMel GibsonSophie MarceauPatrick McGoohanScottish warrior William Wallace leads his countrymen in a rebellion to free his homeland from the tyranny of King Edward I of England. An extraordinary film, and we don't see movies like this too much any more. Tells a great story with lots of entertainment and power all mixed into it. This film inspires us. I think this is one of Mel Gibsons best movies. My only complaint was I was wondering if it really had to be 3 hours long. But besides that its a great battle from start to finish that is truly wonderful. I give it a B+.
- DirectorJoe CarnahanStarsLiam NeesonBradley CooperSharlto CopleyA group of Iraq War veterans look to clear their name with the U.S. Military, who suspect the four men of committing a crime for which they were framed. Why didn't the critics like this one either? This movie is flippin awesome. It's all genius. I've seen some of the old A-Team TV show and I'd say that this was pretty close to it. Some awesome action, with some insane plans from Hannibal that are pretty sweet to watch. And some really funny humor is put in there as well. I would say that this is a team worth watching, so I give it a B+.
- DirectorFrancis LawrenceStarsWill SmithAlice BragaCharlie TahanYears after a plague kills most of humanity and transforms the rest into monsters, the sole survivor in New York City struggles valiantly to find a cure. This is one of Will Smith's better movies. There were some problems with it, I agree, but this really has a good and scary looking take on the end of the world. The conclusion was my main problem. Right before the climax when he is talking to the girl about religion and such you realize that the ending could be really cool. But then at the end they don't really touch on that stuff too much, or why he does what he does. But I still liked it and give it a B-.
- DirectorRidley ScottStarsJosh HartnettEwan McGregorTom SizemoreThe story of 160 elite U.S. soldiers who dropped into Mogadishu in October 1993 to capture two top lieutenants of a renegade warlord, but found themselves in a desperate battle with a large force of heavily armed Somalis.Wow, this movie left me breathless. I could not believe it. This is the first time I have seen this movie, and it is now my favorite war movie ever. The way they portray it makes it seem so very realistic and lets us in on all that really happens in a war. Jerry Bruckheimer's work of art. It's just fantastic. It starts out with plenty of drama then lets us all right in on how the combat is. I give it an A. Mission accomplished.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleHeath LedgerAaron EckhartWhen the menace known as the Joker wreaks havoc and chaos on the people of Gotham, Batman must accept one of the greatest psychological and physical tests of his ability to fight injustice."For the night is darkest just before the dawn, and I promise you the dawn is coming." Well we know that after seeing this movie the dark knight is the dawn. Because it is aboustely amazing. So far to say that it's the best super hero movie. And wow, Heath Ledger. Heath Ledger really outdone himself. He sends chills up your spine and man, he makes you feel it. I also give this film an A. Movies don't get much better than this.
- DirectorRobert LuketicStarsJim SturgessKate BosworthKevin SpaceyInspired by real events and people, 21 is about six MIT students who become trained to be experts in card counting in Black Jack and subsequently took Vegas casinos for millions in winnings.Audiences to not leave with a winning hand with this movie. It started off good and interesting, but it really all went downhill from there. And that's really for only one main reason: boredom. Watching them do the same thing night after night just makes for a dull movie. I admit, in real life it is genius, but for a movie....not so much. I would have also liked to seem more of Laurence Fisherborne. So I give it a C-.
- DirectorJonathan LiebesmanStarsAaron EckhartMichelle RodriguezBridget MoynahanA squad of U.S. Marines becomes the last line of defense against a global invasion. No, its not original, but yes it is exciting. What it really is, is 2 hours of adrenaline packed, noisy, violent, action. And it is a combination of a whole bunch of different films from Independence Day to Black Hawk Down. While it is exciting, there isn't really enough dialogue to keep it moving on. I will say the effects are cool, and how the aliens actually look is also cool. But I can only give it a C+. Its still a good way to spend a couple hours.
- DirectorJon FavreauStarsDaniel CraigHarrison FordOlivia WildeA spaceship arrives in 1873 Arizona to take over the Earth, starting with the Wild West region. All that stands in their way: a posse of cowboys and natives. The title is great, but the movie is only a little better than decent. I was drawn to the start, before the aliens attacked. Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford might actually do well in a normal western. But when the aliens attack it just seems like random stuff after that keeps happening. I will admit it was better than excepted and very original. But, yet, its kind of weird. So I give it a B-. Interesting.
- DirectorJon TurteltaubStarsNicolas CageDiane KrugerJustin BarthaA historian races to find the legendary Templar Treasure before a team of mercenaries.Entertaining to watch, but completely unrealistic. There is a bunch of problems with this movie. First of all, obviously, it is just filled with so much highly impossible coincidences that have so much of an effect of the plot it makes it even more unrealistic. Also it refuses to have a slower scene were we can sit back and relax in for a second. And it is a bit of a corny movie. But I give it a C+. Fun to watch, no matter how unrealistic it is.
- DirectorGore VerbinskiStarsJohnny DeppIsla FisherTimothy OlyphantRango is an ordinary chameleon who accidentally winds up in the town of Dirt, a lawless outpost in the Wild West in desperate need of a new sheriff. An animated movie unlike any animated movie that I have ever seen before. Gore Verbenski provides us with a new journey which we haven't taken before. It tells a tale of an unpredictable story I will say. And the animation is extremely well done. My problem is that it takes a very long time for it to decide on a story line, about 30 minutes from the end of the movie and we finally see it. But I still give it a B. It's a pleasure to watch.
- DirectorJaume Collet-SerraStarsLiam NeesonDiane KrugerJanuary JonesWhen a man awakens from a coma only to discover that someone has taken on his identity, he teams up with a young woman to prove who he is.I gotta give them credit, when they were casting for the role of John Martian Harris, Liam Neeson was the perfect man for the job. Liam delivers throughout the movie. He is what makes it interesting and a good thriller. The one problem is the ending. The movie started falling apart in the last 20 minutes or so. But all in all watching this movie is worth the ride, no matter how confused you get. Still gets a B.
- DirectorMcGStarsChristian BaleSam WorthingtonAnton YelchinIn 2018, a mysterious new weapon in the war against the machines, half-human and half-machine, comes to John Connor on the eve of a resistance attack on Skynet. But whose side is he on, and can he be trusted? It sure makes a lot of noise, even though not much happens throughout the movie. The terminator series, obviously isn't what it use to be. But this just throws us around with a very predictable story. The action is interesting, fighting the machines and all, but even that can't save it. Bale acts as he usually acts in most movie. But above all when I watched this I missed the original terminators. So I can't give it more than a C.
- DirectorMartin CampbellStarsDaniel CraigEva GreenJudi DenchAfter earning 00 status and a licence to kill, secret agent James Bond sets out on his first mission as 007. Bond must defeat a private banker funding terrorists in a high-stakes game of poker at Casino Royale, Montenegro.Daniel Craig is James Bond, and he is one of the best bond's ever. Craig shines and really does a brilliant job as 007. It tells an great story with plenty of action to keep fans interested. I just really love this movie. Seeing Daniel Craig in this film can give us hope for bond films in the future, and makes us look back and remember the good bonds, like Sean Connery. Craig definitely falls in the good bonds. Definitely gets an A.
- DirectorAlbert HughesAllen HughesStarsDenzel WashingtonMila KunisRay StevensonA drifter fights his way across a ravaged, post-apocalyptic America while protecting a sacred book that holds the secrets to humanity's salvation.A movie that is really good in most ways except for one: the ending. I really like the whole story by itself that I think was a good idea. And there is a ton of firepower in this movie. Acting was also very good on everyones part. But it seems like they forgot to edit the script a couple times because the ending just doesn't explain it enough and doesn't really wrap it up well enough. But with that in mind i still give it a B. I would still definitely watch it.
- DirectorFlorian Henckel von DonnersmarckStarsJohnny DeppAngelina JoliePaul BettanyRevolves around Frank, an American tourist visiting Italy to mend a broken heart. Elise is an extraordinary woman who deliberately crosses his path. The Tourist is a dud. Don't watch it. The script in itself was just a terrible idea. It is very slow even though we can basically predict every next move before it happens. Johnny Depp himself does decent in the movie, but you really can't stand out in a movie like this so you can't really blame him for that. All in all for me it was just a disappointment. I'm going to have to give it a C-.
- DirectorColin StrauseGreg StrauseStarsEric BalfourDonald FaisonScottie ThompsonStrange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, drawing people outside like moths to a flame where an extraterrestrial force threatens to swallow the entire human population off the face of the Earth.3 words can describe this movie. Just plain stupid. Where to even begin? We'll start with the story. Just a terrible idea from the beginning. The whole alien invasion completely unoriginal, and yet they hide in an apartment the entire movie. The acting? Very very poor, wasn't impressed by anybody's role. The visual effects? Ok, but they still probably have been better. And the ending? Incredibly terrible. Worst ending ever. This is the first movie i've ever failed, but I give it an F.
- DirectorDavid YatesStarsDaniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintAs Harry, Ron and Hermione race against time and evil to destroy the Horcruxes, they uncover the existence of the three most powerful objects in the wizarding world: the Deathly Hallows. It doesn't completely work out, but I can understand why it doesn't. If your a huge harry potter fan (which I am not) then I'm guessing you are going to really like this movie. If you don't care all that much about it (like me) and are really just in it for the action and so on then your not going to be very impressed. And thats not the movie makers fault, or the author of the book's fault therefore. It's the fact that not much happens in it because it's only part 1, and they couldn't fit both parts 1 and 2 in. So I can only give it a B, but i'm sure die hard harry potter fans would differ with that.
- DirectorHarald ZwartStarsSteve MartinJean RenoEmily MortimerInsp. Jacques Clouseau teams up with a squad of International detectives who are just as bumbling as he is. Their mission: Stop a globe-trotting thief who specializes in stealing historical artifacts. Not as good as the first one, and the first one wasn't even that good either. I would say Martian is the best part about this movie. The way he nails the accent perfectly, he just really plays the role well. The rest of the movie....well not so much. The plot, obviously, completely impossible. There's a lot of jokes in the movie, but hardly any of them can even get you to crack a smile. So I give it a C. Waste of time.
