- DirectorWilliam FriedkinStarsEllen BurstynMax von SydowLinda BlairWhen a mysterious entity possesses a young girl, her mother seeks the help of two Catholic priests to save her life. One of the best horror films of all time when it comes to the supernatural and demonic possession.
- DirectorRenny HarlinStarsStellan SkarsgårdIzabella ScorupcoJames D'ArcyIn 1947, having abandoned his faith, Father Merrin joins an archaeological excavation in Kenya, where an ancient church has been unearthed and something much older waits to be awoken.
- DirectorWilliam Peter BlattyStarsGeorge C. ScottEd FlandersBrad DourifA police lieutenant uncovers more than he bargained for as his investigation of a series of murders, which have all the hallmarks of the deceased Gemini serial killer, leads him to question the patients of a psychiatric ward.An underrated horror/thriller in The Exorcist films.
- DirectorJohn BoormanRospo PallenbergStarsRichard BurtonLinda BlairLouise FletcherA teenage girl once possessed by a demon finds that it still lurks within her. Meanwhile, a priest investigates the death of the girl's exorcist. Not so good sequel (more of a retelling of the original). Not really worth watching.
- DirectorStanley KubrickStarsJack NicholsonShelley DuvallDanny LloydA family heads to an isolated hotel for the winter, where a sinister presence influences the father into violence. At the same time, his psychic son sees horrifying forebodings from both the past and the future. One of the scariest and best horror films ever made. Jack is phenomenal as always, and the murdered twins scene is one of the most frightening scenes to ever grace a motion picture. REDRUM!
- DirectorSam RaimiStarsBruce CampbellEllen SandweissRichard DeManincorFive friends travel to a cabin in the woods, where they unknowingly release flesh-possessing demons.Sam Raimi teaches every aspiring filmmaker how to "do it" with little to no budget. A true B-movie horror masterpiece. Join us....
- DirectorSam RaimiStarsBruce CampbellSarah BerryDan HicksAsh Williams, the lone survivor of an earlier onslaught of flesh-possessing spirits, holes up in a cabin with a group of strangers while the demons continue their attack. Not really a sequel, but more of a retelling with a bigger budget. Sam shows us again how to conjure up demons for scares and a few laughs. Bruce Campbell gives one of his finest performances as the lovable, demon-killing *beep* Ash.
- DirectorSam RaimiStarsBruce CampbellEmbeth DavidtzMarcus GilbertWhen Ash Williams is accidentally transported to 1300 A.D., he must retrieve the Necronomicon and battle an army of the dead in order to return home. The third film in the Evil Dead trilogy does not disappoint. More laughs than horror, but still an amazing film. Love the special effects! Bad Ash. Good Ash. Bruce Campbell. Bad Ass!
- DirectorMarcel SarmientoGadi HarelStarsShiloh FernandezNoah SeganCandice KingTwo high school boys discover an imprisoned woman in an abandoned mental asylum who cannot die. This is one sick, twisted film. That's why it has quickly become one of my all-time favorites! Jenny Spain is simply amazing in her non-speaking role as the dead girl, not to mention incredibly easy on the eyes as well. As perverse as this movie is, it is still a brilliant work of art in my book.
- DirectorGeorge A. RomeroStarsDuane JonesJudith O'DeaKarl HardmanA ragtag group of Pennsylvanians barricade themselves in an old farmhouse to remain safe from a horde of flesh-eating ghouls that are ravaging the Northeast of the United States.George Romero's zombies will always be my favorite. Fast zombies are cool and all, but dead and rotting corpses should be slow by nature. Fast zombies are for "infection" movies, not for the dead coming back to life. That is my 2 cents. Oh, and this is definitely in my top 10.
- DirectorTom SaviniStarsTony ToddPatricia TallmanTom TowlesWhen the unburied dead return to life and seek human victims, seven refugees shelter in a house in the Pennsylvanian countryside.Tom Savini's remake of Romero's classic IS a classic in its own right. I will always hold the original closer to my heart, but this one is pretty fucking sweet as well and one of the best zombie films ever made.
They're coming to get you Barbara....again....in color! - DirectorJeff BroadstreetStarsAndrew DivoffJeffrey CombsSarah LievingAfter inheriting the family mortuary, a pyrophobic mortician accidentally exposes hundreds of un-cremated bodies to toxic medical waste. As the corpses re-animate, the mortician's inheritance-seeking younger brother unexpectantly shows up, stumbling upon a full zombie outbreak!
- DirectorJohn A. RussoStarsDuane JonesJudith O'DeaKarl HardmanA re-edited version of Night of the Living Dead (1968) by a few members of its creative team, excluding director George Romero. It cuts 15 minutes from the original and replaces it with 15 minutes of newly-shot footage.I'm not sure how I feel about the new opening for this edition of Romero's classic. I'll just leave it at that.
- DirectorDan O'BannonStarsClu GulagerJames KarenDon CalfaWhen two bumbling employees at a medical supply warehouse accidentally release a deadly gas into the air, the vapors cause the dead to rise again as zombies. One of the best zombie films ever! I *beep* love this movie and Linnea Quigley dancing naked in the cemetery is a scene that will be stuck in your mind forever...and that's a good thing! Thank you Dan O'Bannon. R.I.P.
- DirectorKen WiederhornStarsJames KarenThom MathewsMichael KenworthyCurious kids unearth the barrels that previously helped revive the dead, which proves the second time's an undead charm. Not as good as the first one, but still much better than it is often given credit for.
- DirectorEllory ElkayemStarsAimee-Lynn ChadwickCory HardrictJohn KeefeA group of teenagers, in an attempt to rescue their friend from an evil corporation, end up inadvertently releasing a horde of bloodthirsty zombies.
- DirectorEllory ElkayemStarsPeter CoyoteAimee-Lynn ChadwickCory HardrictA college student creates a drug called "Z" and sells it on campus, inadvertently resurrecting the living dead, who wreak havoc at a Halloween rave.Rave to the Grave. Yeah...
- DirectorBob ClarkStarsAlan OrmsbyValerie MamchesJeff GillenSix friends in a theatrical troupe dig up a corpse on an abandoned island to use in a mock Satanic rite. It backfires with deadly consequences.Another one of my all-time favorite horror films, and another fine example of how to make a horror movie on a shoestring budget. There is not much to discuss and not a lot of zombie action to speak of, but the atmosphere and Alan Ormsby alone carry this film. I've been waiting on the remake from Romero and Savini, but I'm not sure it will ever be made...
- DirectorS. William HinzmanStarsS. William HinzmanJohn MowodLeslie Ann WickA group of college students on an overnite hayride come across a group of maneating zombies. They must fight for their lives while trying to escape and warn the authorities.Bill Hinzman became such a household name for his appearance as the first zombie in Romero's 1968 classic Night of the Living Dead, that 20 years later he actually got to write, direct and star in his own zombie film! And surprisingly enough, the film's not half bad. Sadly though, Hinzman died earlier this year (2012) at the age of 75. As a huge horror icon, he is and will be deeply missed. R.I.P.
- DirectorGeorge A. RomeroStarsJohn LeguizamoAsia ArgentoSimon BakerThe living dead have taken over the world, and the last humans live in a walled city to protect themselves as they come to grips with the situation.Romero's zombies are getting smarter and that's not very good for what's left of mankind. I know a lot of people don't like any of Romero's newer "Dead" films, but I like them all, albeit some more than others. Land is a very solid entry in what has become a crowded house of zombie flicks.
- DirectorGeorge A. RomeroStarsAlan Van SprangKenneth WelshKathleen MunroeOn an island off the coast of North America, local residents simultaneously fight a zombie epidemic while hoping for a cure to return their un-dead relatives back to their human state.Shut up. I liked it.
- DirectorGeorge A. RomeroStarsMichelle MorganJoshua CloseShawn RobertsA group of young film students run into real-life zombies while filming a horror movie of their own.George Romero does Found Footage. Sounds like the title to a truly awful gay porn, but it's not. It's a shaky cam, found footage zombie romp and yes, I liked it too! I don't usually go for found footage films, but seeing as how they have forced their way into our lives and created a genre for themselves, there are a few good ones, and some truly great ones amongst the hundreds of *beep* ones.
- DirectorLucio FulciStarsTisa FarrowIan McCullochRichard JohnsonStrangers searching for a young woman's missing father arrive at a tropical island where a doctor desperately seeks the cause and cure of a recent epidemic of the undead.Lucio Fulci is an Italian god. Zombie is probably my absolute favorite zombie film to date. There are many others, but this one I cherish. Don't ask me why, because I cannot tell you. It is what it is. Some of the best ever zombie scenes are in this film. The soundtrack is beautifully haunting, albeit a bit repetitive. FULCI LIVES!
- DirectorMichael SpierigPeter SpierigStarsFelicity MasonMungo McKayRob JenkinsA quaint Australian fishing village is overcome by meteorites that turn its residents into the ravenous undead, leaving a small group of those unharmed to find a way out.See above, #31, Shaun of the Dead.
- DirectorMichael GornickStarsGeorge KennedyLois ChilesDomenick JohnThree macabre tales from the latest issue of a boy's favorite comic book, dealing with a vengeful wooden Native American, a monstrous blob in a lake, and an undying hitchhiker.Romero and King team up again for another round. Not as good as the first Creepshow, but still a great time.
