Jena Malone was born in Reno, Nevada, raised in Sparks, Nevada; two cities that have merged together over time, to Deborah Malone and Edward Berge. Her grandfather owned a casino, Karl's Silver Club, in Reno. She was raised by her mother and her mother's partner. Beginning as a child actress, and then stepping up to roles as a young adult, Malone's career path has been compared to that of Jodie Foster, herself a former child actress and who has co-starred with Malone in two movies. Jena is often described as having a maturity beyond her years and, in her career thus far, she has often tackled roles that are difficult and are not standard fare for actors her age.
Malone's first claim to fame was in performing the title role in Bastard Out of Carolina (1996) for which she won the Young Artist Award, and which she filmed when she was merely ten years old. This movie dealt with issues of child abuse, violence and sex. Jena has said in later interviews that this movie and her participation in it continue to influence her life substantially.
Showing self-assurance and a clear vision of personal goals from an early age, Jena, at age 14, was encouraged to try out for Air Force One (1997), a movie that was virtually guaranteed to be a success since box-office king Harrison Ford was cast in the lead, but Jena said she'd prefer to seek other roles that were of more interest to her.
In the following years, Malone appeared in several made-for-TV movies for which she won or was nominated for many awards. In 1997, she lucked in to being cast in the blockbuster Contact (1997) where she portrayed the child version of Jodie Foster's lead character. Foster stated that she built her character by mimicking Jena. And, in 1998, Jena was cast in the major film Stepmom (1998) where she co-starred with Julia Roberts, Susan Sarandon and Ed Harris. Jena was given what was likely the best line in that movie where her character, bitter over her parents' divorce, confronts her father who has returned home briefly; at a moment of crisis, her dad tells her "You do NOT run out on your mother", and the rueful Malone exclaims "No -- that's YOUR job".
Also, in 1998, Malone appeared in a two-part episode of the critically acclaimed TV series Homicide: Life on the Street (1993). Contrary to what might usually be expected of a teenage actress, in this episode, Jena played the complex role of the perpetrator of a crime, which she portrayed with subtlety.
At age 15, Jena was legally emancipated and thus took direct control of her finances and her career. Malone began getting more attention and acclaim in her next set of films: the artistic cult film Donnie Darko (2001); the teenage journey The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys (2002) where she again co-starred with Jodie Foster; and the satirical Saved! (2004) which debuted Jena as the lead in a movie.
Jena has expressed an interest in directing some day, and so she is preparing for roles behind the camera as well as in front. In 2002, she co-produced American Girl (2002) while also starring in it. And, in 2003, she undertook a formal study of photography.
In early 2006, Malone debuted on the Broadway stage in the play "Doubt". A review by Broadway.com characterized her performance as "astonishing".
Many people in Hollywood have jobs as actors. Watch for Jena Malone. She is an artist.- Actress

Kelsey Zukowski is an experienced and passionate screenwriter, actress, and model, specializing in the horror genre through dark examination. Based in Los Angeles, she has worked on productions across the country, working heavily in the indie horror scene in Chicago as well as LA. Zukowski is most well-known for penning and co-starring in the surreal dark drama, "What They Say", winning awards at film festivals across the country. More recently her tale of real life horrors of bullying and abuse in the psychological slasher, "Words Like Knives", premiered at Blood at the Beach festival in Virginia Beach. Zukowski is working on the feature haunted house film, "Within These Walls", a gritty collaboration with filmmaker James Tucker, centering on a disturbing ghost story that brings out complete entrapment and relentless torment of one girl as she struggles to find her inner-strength (played by Zukowski).
Zukowski is a huge believer in all that the horror genre is capable of. She strives to dive in to the good and the bad, the light and darkness, that surrounds us, in a creative, justifying sense through the genre. She eagerly ventures in to other genres, but her home is in horror. Zukowski was heavily inspired at an early age by the Halloween franchise, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and fellow Cleveland-native, Wes Craven's surreal and 'fighting through the mind' brand of horror in particular.
Zukowski has a background in theater, having fallen in love with acting during a school production when she was 10. This love of acting proved to be a love of storytelling and the cinema in particular. When Zukowski was 14 she began writing film reviews, greatly inspired by the late Roger Ebert's writing style and ability to relay the entire movie going experience in his reviews. While still in high school in Ohio, Zukowski's film reviews were being published in the California-based newspaper, The Valley Voice. She has been a published film critic for the past 7 years writing for a variety of websites including Criticsword.com, HorrorYearbook.com, FilmArcade.net, DirectorsLive.com, TheCelebrityCafe.com, and 8th-circuit.com. She's written TV recaps, music and movie reviews, news stories, and has conducted interviews with independent film makers around the world. She has covered and shown appreciation for all types of films from low budget independent to Hollywood mainstream and always eager to highlight foreign films or unknown gems.
Zukowski has a Bachelors of Arts in Digital Cinema with a concentration in Screenwriting from DePaul University. Shortly after graduating, Zukowski became involved with the independent film scene. Some of her earliest roles were in various productions of crime writer, Kevin Jamison's intense serial killer depictions, the throwback horror anthology "Psycho Street", and the Autumn Offering "Born Dead" music video, which aired on MTV2's Head Banger's Ball. From acting she bridged in to modeling, working heavily with alternative, pin-up, and glamor modeling. As in her writing, Zukowski is most drawn to thematic, stylistic modeling that has an artistic expression, human emotion, and creates a singular world within an image.- Actress

Raine Brown's love of performing was evident before her hands ever held a script and before her feet ever touched a stage. Growing up, her love for the dramatic was well documented by her parents' aptly coined nickname for her, "Sarah Bernhardt" (after the acclaimed French actress from the turn of the century). Beyond the occasional dramatic outburst though (which she has thankfully long outgrown), Raine did not professionally pursue, nor did her parents push, acting in her younger days.
Serious interest in the study of acting culminated during her high school years, where she was able to put her passionate emotions into a directed structure, in her high school theatre program. Her love of the stage was intense and immediate, so much so, that Raine not only starred in the shows and took acting classes through the school, but she soon sought out other New Jersey acting programs as well.
Through the New Jersey School of the Arts program, Raine took advanced acting classes and began to hone her craft. Additionally, Raine was selected as a Governor's School of the Arts candidate. This select program allows students interested in all areas of the arts to live together and share in the joy of artistic creation. Only nine other students in the state were accepted into the acting program and Raine's abilities were well respected and admired among her peers and professors. With that honor, Raine knew that she could be a successful and respected artist outside of her little suburban town. She decided to spend some time training at the American Dramatic Academy in New York. It was at the academy that Raine studied the Misner method, a technique she still calls upon often in her work today.
After graduating as salutatorian of her High School, Raine was accepted into Montclair State University where she pursued and graduated with a BFA in the acting program. During this period, Raine's love of Shakespeare was enhanced. Raine began more seriously studying Shakespeare's works in her classes and transferred what she learned into her performances with a group called the "Hudson Shakespeare Company". Now as a classically trained actor, she played many of Shakespeare's heroines including Juliet, Ophelia, Lady MacBeth, Hermia, Beatrice, Katharina, Phoebe, and Rosalind. Also, Raine was able to take on one of her dream roles, Laura, in "The Glass Menagerie" when she worked at the "Nutley Little Theatre". She was also able to work with the professional theatre group "12 Miles West" in their production of "A Child's Christmas in Whales", and star in the play "A Most Irish Proposal Indeed" as the lead, Marie, with the group call "The Little Theatre".
Further, you may have seen Raine when she was featured on TV in both 'Sex and the City (2000)' and 'Strangers with Candy (1999)' and more recently hosting the 'New York's Village Halloween Parade 2005 (2005) (TV)'. Currently, she has been pursuing her film career and has been cast in numerous independent films; most notably, 'Horror (2002)' and 'Satan's Playground (2005)', both directed by Dante Tomaselli", and the films 'Woods of Evil (2005)', 'Maya's Soul (2006)', 'Aunt Rose (2005)', and 'Street Revenge (2007)', all of which have received wide distribution deals. Of late, Raine has starred in 'Barricade (2007)', "The 9th Circle", "Plasterhead", 'Angel's Blade (2006) (V)', and '100 Tears (2007)'. Further, production has begun on her internet/ipod sitcom "After Ours".- Writer
