Season Review-The Vampire Diaries Season 2
Rating: 9-amazing
This is definitely a show I look forward to every week. The reason this season was better than the first was the new guys: Elijah and Klaus. They were both scene stealers, much like Damon, and they both had formidable presences throughout the season (and Klaus wasn't even revealed until the 19th episode or so). Tyler and Caroline, two useless characters in season 1, were finally utilized here in the second season. I was pleasantly surprised at the chemistry the two had, and I enjoyed their scenes. However, if I have a criticism, it's that Alaric was criminally underused the first part of the season. I liked that he got to be Klaus, but I really like Matt Davis and his character. I also really liked Sara Canning as Jenna (I liken her to someone like Ellie on "Chuck"), and I was sad to see her go. It would've definitely been fun seeing "Vampire Jenna" in the third season. As for the addition of Catherine, Nina Dobrev did great work balancing the two within the show and the two characters weren't cheesy at all. The finale set up a lot of stuff for the 3rd season (hopefully Elijah doesn't remain dead-he deserves a better death), and I look forward to seeing Paul Wesley bring out his darker side.
P.S. How many events/parties does Mystic Falls have? Seriously.
