GOTHAM SEASON 1 RATINGS
Honestly s.1 of "Gotham" was very good, but the show found it's full footing from s.2 and after.
The cast and the acting are mostly outstanding. Ben McKenzie and David Mazouz are particularly good as Jim Gordon and (young) Bruce Wayne respectively. Sean Pertwee's Alfred is my favourite version of the character (yes, even more than Michael Caine's) because he is at the same time the classic butler we all know and love and a bad-ass ex-soldier!!!!!!
But the "showstealers" are actually the villains (especially Fish Mooney, the Riddler, The Penguin -another favourite version of the character of mine- and Gerome, even though he is in only one episode this season). The neo-noir style is spectacular (it's exactly what B:TAS would have looked like if it was live-action). The writing is decent to say the least. Right from this season "Gotham" showed that has some serious "guts" with how much violence it contains. I enjoyed the "Mafia war" story between Falcone and Maroni. There are some awesome Batman vibes and easter eggs and the seaon finale was a thrilling and very satisfying experience (and it is where the show reached it's potential)
But, Barbara was poorly used throughout the season (until the season finale at least). The exact same goes for Harvey Dent. Some stories are TOO ridiculous or disappointing (like "The Balloonman" and "Red Hood") and the production values sometimes seem very cheap....
Overall rating: 8.9/10
