- DirectorJoel SchumacherStarsColin FarrellKiefer SutherlandForest WhitakerPublicist Stuart Shepard finds himself trapped in a phone booth, pinned down by an extortionist's sniper rifle. Unable to leave or receive outside help, Stuart's negotiation with the caller leads to a jaw-dropping climax. After playing heroes for a few years, Kiefer decided to do a villain role again. And he's excellent. This was the first thing that made me know his name, and he spooked me badly the first time I heard his menacing voice on the other end of the line. 10/10
- DirectorDavid LynchStarsSheryl LeeRay WiseMädchen AmickLaura Palmer's harrowing final days are chronicled one year after the murder of Teresa Banks, a resident of Twin Peaks' neighboring town.Kiefer Sutherland performs very well with the limited screentime. The movie in general is also fantastic. 9.5/10
- DirectorAlex ProyasStarsRufus SewellKiefer SutherlandJennifer ConnellyA man struggles with memories of his past, which include a wife he cannot remember and a nightmarish world no one else ever seems to wake up from.Visually impressive, unique and very immersive. Kiefer has a supporting but very important role as a mad doctor who doesn't know which side he's on. The lisp was a nice touch and helped him differentiate himself completely from his other roles. 9/10
- DirectorJohn SchlesingerStarsSally FieldKiefer SutherlandEd HarrisWhen the courts fail to keep behind bars the man who raped and murdered her daughter, a woman seeks her own form of justice. He plays his scariest character here, someone so hateful that it's almost hard to look at him the same way afterwards. He acted the HELL out of this part. 9/10
- DirectorKiefer SutherlandStarsKiefer SutherlandKim DickensVincent GalloA group of crooks, an ex con, his friend and a gun crazy gangster plan a drug heist, but not everything goes as planned.Directorial debut. The style is very confident, and outside of having a good story it's incredibly entertaining with a witty dark sense of humor. 9/10
- DirectorRob ReinerStarsWil WheatonRiver PhoenixCorey FeldmanA writer recounts a childhood journey with his friends to find the body of a missing boy.You all know the story: four friends head out on an adventure to find a dead body, but on the way it becomes more of a personal journey as well. It's a classic! Sutherland has an effective small role as tough guy leader Ace, and plays him with an intensity he would become famous for. 9/10
- DirectorLars von TrierStarsKirsten DunstCharlotte GainsbourgKiefer SutherlandTwo sisters find their already strained relationship challenged as a mysterious new planet threatens to collide with Earth.Dreary and bleak depiction of depression which makes you think afterwards. Sutherland plays an admirably optimistic yet sad character John. 9/10
- DirectorAlexandre AjaStarsKiefer SutherlandPaula PattonAmy SmartAn ex-cop and his family are the target of an evil force that is using mirrors as a gateway into their home.Kiefer plays a likeable hero and is fun to watch. Unfortunately, the visual of a jaw ripped open was permanently burned into my mind. Egads! 9/10
- DirectorRob ReinerStarsTom CruiseJack NicholsonDemi MooreMilitary lawyer Lieutenant Daniel Kaffee defends Marines accused of murder. They contend they were acting under orders.A few good men makes for a... good movie. Kiefer plays one of the marines accused of murder, and puts in a lowkey, top-notch performance. Tom Cruise kinda hams it up a bit, but it's still a great movie. 8.5/10
- DirectorXavier KollerStarsKiefer SutherlandMarcus ThomasDaryl HannahTwo brothers, One is a bull rider, the other a rodeo bullfighter/stock contractor, clash over the love of barrel racer Celia Jones, while each comes into their own in their respective field in the rodeo world.Surprisingly emotional! The story doesn't sound big from the description, but watching it I really cared about the tumultous brother relationship. 8.4/10
- DirectorMatthew BrightStarsReese WitherspoonKiefer SutherlandBokeem WoodbineA twisted take on "Little Red Riding Hood", with a teenage juvenile delinquent on the run from a social worker travelling to her grandmother's house and being hounded by a charming, but sadistic, serial killer and pedophile. Both Kiefer and Witherspoon play deranged people, and I wasn't sure if he was more fucked up or she was more fucked up sometimes. That's the beauty of a twisted dark comedy. 8.3/10
- DirectorChristopher CainStarsEmilio EstevezKiefer SutherlandLou Diamond PhillipsA group of young gunmen, led by Billy the Kid, become deputies to avenge the murder of the rancher who became their benefactor. But when Billy takes their authority too far, they become the hunted.Has one of the best soundtracks ever, and it's definitely the better one of the two collaborations between Sutherland and Lou Diamond Phillips. 8.3/10
- DirectorPeter MarkleStarsDennis HopperDaryl HannahMichael MadsenSmall-time hood Frankie the Fly teams with a porn filmmaker and porno actress to try to make a killing by running a high-risk scam of the big boss.Another dark comedy. Peter Markle has an ambitious style, and Sutherland is funny as the cynical porn director. 8.2/10
- DirectorMatia KarrellStarsKyra SedgwickKiefer SutherlandStockard ChanningA dying man must reunite with his sister to face their family's violent past and find peace in their lives.Character drama that hits you in the feelings. 8.2/10
- DirectorMark MaloneStarsKiefer SutherlandAnthony LaPagliaRadha MitchellA heart problem forces the cop Pally to retire, and his wife Charlotte is separating him. Charlotte makes Pally's half-brother Ray visit, and he suggest buying a race horse will cheer him up. He does, but then a mob boss steals the horse. Both Envy and Dead Heat have the plot revolving around a horse being killed. Interesting. I think I liked this one slightly better though. 8.2/10
- DirectorPaul MarcusStarsKiefer SutherlandHenry CzernyPolly WalkerA washed-up detective discovers his own psychic ability when assigned to investigate a serial murder case. The killer has a deranged obsession with the novel "Alice in Wonderland." As the psychopath's bloody reign of terror continues, the cop spirals deeper and deeper into the case where the horrors of the past and present come together.Stylish, slick and intriguing. Sutherland plays one of his best unconventional heroes, and Marcus' directing is like an odd mix of film-noir and a 90's hip thriller. 8/10
- DirectorGary WalkowStarsCourtney LoveKiefer SutherlandLisa SheridanTwo murders that shaped the lives of several college students who went on to become some of the most influential writers of the Beat Generation.Interesting biopic with a very relaxing feel throughout. It does a good job of encapsulating all the different unique personalities of these famous writers, as well as William Burrough's wife. This is really Courtney Love's movie, but Kiefer Sutherland's offbeat (pun not intended) portrayal of Burroughs is a delight. 8/10
- DirectorClark JohnsonStarsMichael DouglasKiefer SutherlandKim BasingerA Secret Service agent is framed as the mole in an assassination attempt on the President. He must clear his name and foil another assassination attempt while on the run from a Secret Service Protective Intelligence Division agent.Interesting pairing of Michael Douglas and Kiefer Sutherland, who are a joy to watch interact on screen. The movie itself is not bad either, it's a fairly routine but very effective chase thriller. This time Kiefer gets to chase the underdog instead of the opposite. 8/10
- DirectorJon CassarStarsKiefer SutherlandCherry JonesBob GuntonJack Bauer confronts African general/aspiring dictator Benjamin Juma, whose forces have been ordered to capture the children Bauer oversees for malicious military training.I don't know why I didn't include this one before. This is a movie based on the TV show 24, which made his popularity reach levels it never had before.
Some characters make their last appearances, while some who would play major roles in season 7 are introduced. The story focuses on Jack Bauer confronting Benjamin Juma, and his attempts to redeem himself (hence the subtitle "Redemption"). Considering how many tough choices he's had to make, there's no wonder he needs some room to breathe, figure out who he really is.
Noticeably there's no splitscreen, which helps give it a different enough feel that you can tell it's a movie, and not just an extended TV episode.
Recommended for fans of the show. 8/10 - DirectorGeorge SluizerStarsJeff BridgesKiefer SutherlandNancy TravisThe boyfriend of an abducted woman never gives up the search as the abductor looks on.Not a perfect movie, but Kiefer Sutherland (as well as Jeff Bridges) are so great in it that they alone manage to make the movie better than it otherwise would be. 8/10
- DirectorFranco AmurriStarsDennis HopperKiefer SutherlandCarol KaneAt last the Feds have caught him! Infamous 60's radical Huey Walker is heading for jail. So how come it's Huey's yuptight FBI escort who ends up behind bars?Despite some similarities to Midnight Run, stands very well on its own. Kiefer and Dennis Hopper have great chemistry. 8/10
- DirectorJack SholderStarsKiefer SutherlandLou Diamond PhillipsJami GertzAn undercover cop forms an alliance with a Native American to help him hunt down the criminals who stole an ancient Lakota tribal lance.Sutherland and Diamond Phillips make up for the shortcomings with their banter and realistic chemistry. 7.5/10
- DirectorJoel SchumacherStarsJason PatricCorey HaimDianne WiestAfter moving to a new town, two brothers discover that the area is a haven for vampires.Kiefer Sutherland as a vampire leader is amazing. Decent horror comedy. Something about it didn't quite resonate with me as much as with other people though, I'm not sure why. 7/10
- DirectorRichard HowardStarsKiefer SutherlandRobert Sean LeonardBruce McGillA disgraced former air traffic controller is called back into service when the airport's traffic control system malfunctions. It's Kiefer as a ground control expert. Okay, it's not groundbreaking stuff, but if you expect nothing more than to be entertained, it's not a half-bad way to spend a Friday evening. 7/10
- DirectorJon CassarStarsEsther Purves-SmithKiefer SutherlandDonald SutherlandIn 1872, an embittered gunslinger named John Henry Clayton attempts to make amends with his estranged father Reverend Samuel Clayton while their community is besieged by ruthless land-grabbers.The most exciting thing about this movie is Donald and Kiefer Sutherland finally playing father and son! And they are terrific together!
However, the story is not very interesting, and the whole thing feels like something made for TV. It's a fine western. 7/10 - DirectorD.J. CarusoStarsAngelina JolieEthan HawkeKiefer SutherlandAn FBI profiler is called in by French Canadian police to catch a serial killer who takes on the identity of each new victim.Good story falls apart in the third act. Kiefer is awesome, but he gets a lot less screentime than you would expect. Eh. One-time watch. 6.9/10
- DirectorMario AndreacchioStarsKiefer SutherlandNastassja KinskiAlun ArmstrongA successful 19th century French stockbroker (Sutherland) leaves his profession to become an artist in Paris. This one completely depends on Kiefer's talent. His performance is one of his absolute best, but the movie is so boring and sloooooow to sit through. 6/10
- DirectorPaul MarcusStarsKiefer SutherlandBridget FondaHart BochnerJimmy is married to the abusive Frank, but she's building a nest egg so she can leave. For a year, she's been deaf as a result of one of his beatings. One night, he pushes her over the stairwell, and she ends up in the hospital. When a charred body in her husband's car is pulled from a pond, the cops want to talk to her, but she bolts for her sister's, loses her savings pass-book, and then learns someone has emptied her bank account. She's goes on the run, with the same cops on her trail, and eventually realizes Frank may not be dead. Getting back her money, facing Frank, satisfying the police, and finding her freedom may be more than she can handle.Disjointed crazy-husband thriller relies on a lot of dumb circumstances, characters behaving irrationally and age-old clichés. The music is weird and never fits. Even Bridget Fonda is not really all that good. Overall it's mediocre as hell. Kiefer plays a cop on the run after the killer, and whenever he's on the screen it brights up a little. 5/10
