King Vidor was an American film director, film producer, and screenwriter of Hungarian descent. He was born in Galveston, Texas to lumberman Charles Shelton Vidor and his wife Kate Wallis. King's paternal grandfather Károly (Charles) Vidor had fled Hungary as a refugee following the failed Hungarian Revolution of 1848 (1849-1849). The Kingdom of Hungary had attempted to gain independence from the Austrian Empire, but the revolutionary troops failed against the allied armies of the Austrian Empire and the Russian Empire. After the restoration of Habsburg power, Hungary was placed under brutal martial law. Karoly fled the country and settled in Galveston, Texas by the early 1850s.
During his childhood, King Vidor was a witness of the 1900 Galveston hurricane, the deadliest natural disaster in United States history. The hurricane caused between 6,000 and 12,000 fatalities in the United States, based on varying estimates. Most of these deaths occurred in the vicinity of Galveston. Every house in the city sustained damage, about 3600 houses were completely destroyed, and an estimated 10,000 people were left homeless, out of a population of about 38,000. King Vidor would later give a somewhat fictionalized account of his hurricane experience in a 1935 interview.
By the early 1910s, Vidor was working as a freelance newsreel cameraman and cinema projectionist. In 1913, he directed the short film "The Grand Military Parade", his directing debut. In 1915, Vidor moved to Hollywood, California and was hired as a screenwriter and short-film director by Judge Willis Brown (1881-1931), owner of the Boy City Film Company in Culver City. Brown had gained fame as a judge of the Utah Juvenile Court and a progressive expert on boys' reformation, but had been kicked out of service when it was discovered that he did not actually have a law degree. Brown had established himself as a film producer in order to produce films depicting his main concerns about American society: juvenile delinquency and racial discrimination. Vidor served as a screenwriter and director of at least 10 films with these topics, while working for Brown.
In 1919, Vidor directed his first feature film: "The Turn in the Road". It was a silent drama film, depicting a businessman who loses his faith in God and any interest in industry, when his beloved wife dies in childbirth. Vidor's first major hit was the feature "Peg o' My Heart" (1922), an adaptation of a popular Broadway theatrical play. Following this success, Vidor was signed to a long-term contract for the studio Goldwyn Pictures. The studio was under the administration of Polish-American producer Samuel Goldwyn (1879-1974). In 1924, Goldwyn Pictures merged with Metro Pictures and Louis B. Mayer Pictures into a new company: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Vidor remained on contract with this new company.
In the 1920s, Vidor's most famous silent feature films were the war film "The Big Parade" (1925), the Academy-Award nominated drama "The Crowd" (1928), the comedy "Show People"" (1928), and the comedy-drama "The Patsy" (1928). His first sound film was the drama "Hallelujah" (1929), about the life of sharecroppers. It was one of the first Hollywood films with a cast consisting fully of African-Americans. Vidor expressed an interest in "showing the Southern Negro as he is" and attempted to depict African-American life beyond the popular stereotypes of the era.
Vidor faced no problem in transitioning from silent film to sound film, and continued regularly working on feature films until the late 1950s. His last major film was the Biblical-romance "Solomon and Sheba" (1959), featuring love, court intrigues, and military invasions during the reign of legendary Solomon, King of Israel (estimated to the 10th century BC). Afterwards he worked on short films and documentaries, his last film being the documentary "The Metaphor" (1980). The 86-year-old Vidor chose to retire from filmmaking in 1980.
In 1982, Vidor died at his ranch in Paso Robles, California, from an unspecified heart disease. He was 88-years-old and well past his prime. His remains were cremated and his ashes were scattered in his ranch.
Vidor was nominated 5 times for the Academy Award for Best Director, without ever winning. He was nominated for the feature films "The Crowd" (1928), "Hallelujah" (1929), "The Champ" (1931), "The Citadel" (1938), and "War and Peace" (1956). He won an Academy Honorary Award in 1979. Part of his modern fame rests on an uncredited part as an assistant director. Vidor directed the scenes set in Kansas for the novel adaptation "The Wizard of Oz" (1939).- Actor

Kirk Thomas Cameron was born in Panorama City, California, to Barbara Cameron (née Barbara Jeanne Bausmith), a homemaker, and Robert Cameron, a teacher. Though his parents initially did not project show business aspirations onto their children, a family friend in the business noted to Barbara that both Kirk and his sister, Candace Cameron Bure, were cute enough that they could easily pick up lucrative work in commercials. After Cameron began appearing in TV ads for "Polaroid", "McDonald's" and "Count Chocula" cereal, he found himself wound up in Hollywood's notorious child-star mill, netting minor cute-kid parts in a handful of TV movies, including a couple of Disney projects and two ABC Afterschool Specials (1972) (1972-95). In 1983, he landed a regular gig, as a precocious kid, in ABC's Two Marriages (1983), a show that remained on the air less than a month. He found a more winning formula in 1985 with Growing Pains (1985), playing the oldest son of a family headed by a psychiatrist (Alan Thicke) and a journalist (Joanna Kerns), one in a sequence of family network sitcoms characterized by with-it parents and mischievous-but-squeaky-clean kids. On the show, Cameron played the incorrigible but dumb "Mike Seaver" and his winning portrayal won over a large number of teen fans. In spite of scathing critical notices, "Growing Pains" ranked among Nielsen's top 20 network shows for its first four seasons, rising to No. 5 in its 1987-88 year. On the heels of his sitcom success, Cameron appeared in his first feature film in 1986, the Robin Williams/Kurt Russell glory-days comedy, The Best of Times (1986).
ABC would pump up Cameron as its "It" boy, and his trademark smirk in coming years would grace covers of a raft of teen magazines. Meanwhile, job offers cropped up to exploit his proverbial 15 minutes; he played the son/father of Dudley Moore in Like Father Like Son (1987), one of Hollywood's periodic flavor-du-jour retreads of the mystical parent/sibling body-switch comedies; netted the starring role in a high-profile Pepsi Super Bowl XXIV commercial; rated top-billing in Listen to Me (1989), an overwrought, widely-panned college drama about debate team wonks arguing against Roe v. Wade; and did a guest-shot, alongside sister Candace, on her ABC sister sitcom, Full House (1987) (1987-1995). Firmly established as the resident star of "Growing Pains", Cameron saw his pay jump to $50,000 a week and his fans sending him some 10,000 letters a week. But his coming-of-age took an unexpected turn, at least for everyone who worked with him. As he would later recall it in his autobiography, "Still Growing", the family of his first girlfriend initially exposed the 17-year-old to evangelical Christianity. Cameron experienced what he would later describe as a "life-changing encounter with Jesus" and declared himself "born again".- Actor

Cleft-chinned, steely-eyed and virile star of international cinema who rose from being "the ragman's son" (the name of his best-selling 1988 autobiography) to become a bona fide superstar, Kirk Douglas, also known as Issur Danielovitch Demsky, was born on December 9, 1916 in Amsterdam, New York. His parents, Bryna (Sanglel) and Herschel Danielovitch, were Jewish immigrants from Chavusy, Mahilyow Voblast (now in Belarus). Although growing up in a poor ghetto, Douglas was a fine student and a keen athlete and wrestled competitively during his time at St. Lawrence University. Professional wrestling helped pay for his studies as did working on the side as a waiter and a bellboy. However, he soon identified an acting scholarship as a way out of his meager existence, and was sufficiently talented to gain entry into the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He made his Broadway debut in "Spring Again" before his career was interrupted by World War II. He joining the United States Navy in 1941, and then after the end of hostilities in 1945, returned to the theater and some radio work. On the insistence of ex-classmate Lauren Bacall, movie producer Hal B. Wallis screen-tested Douglas and cast him in the lead role in The Strange Love of Martha Ivers (1946). His performance received rave reviews and further work quickly followed, including an appearance in the low-key drama I Walk Alone (1947), the first time he worked alongside fellow future screen legend Burt Lancaster. Such was the strong chemistry between the two that they appeared in seven films together, including the dynamic western Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957), the John Frankenheimer political thriller Seven Days in May (1964) and their final pairing in the gangster comedy Tough Guys (1986). Douglas once said about his good friend: "I've finally gotten away from Burt Lancaster. My luck has changed for the better. I've got nice-looking girls in my films now."
After appearing in "I Walk Alone," Douglas scored his first Oscar nomination playing the untrustworthy and opportunistic boxer Midge Kelly in the gripping Champion (1949). The quality of his work continued to garner the attention of critics and he was again nominated for Oscars for his role as a film producer in The Bad and the Beautiful (1952) and as tortured painter Vincent van Gogh in Lust for Life (1956), both directed by Vincente Minnelli. In 1955, Douglas launched his own production company, Bryna Productions, the company behind two pivotal film roles in his career. The first was as French army officer Col. Dax in director Stanley Kubrick's brilliant anti-war epic Paths of Glory (1957). Douglas reunited with Kubrick for yet another epic, the magnificent Spartacus (1960). The film also marked a key turning point in the life of screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, who had been blacklisted during the McCarthy "Red Scare" hysteria in the 1950s. At Douglas' insistence, Trumbo was given on-screen credit for his contributions, which began the dissolution of the infamous blacklisting policies begun almost a decade previously that had destroyed so many careers and lives.
Douglas remained busy throughout the 1960s, starring in many films. He played a rebellious modern-day cowboy in Lonely Are the Brave (1962), acted alongside John Wayne in the World War II story In Harm's Way (1965), again with The Duke in a drama about the Israeli fight for independence, Cast a Giant Shadow (1966), and once more with Wayne in the tongue-in-cheek western The War Wagon (1967). Additionally in 1963, he starred in an onstage production of Ken Kesey's "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," but despite his keen interest, no Hollywood studio could be convinced to bring the story to the screen. However, the rights remained with the Douglas clan, and Kirk's talented son Michael Douglas finally filmed the tale in 1975, starring Jack Nicholson. Into the 1970s, Douglas wasn't as busy as previous years; however, he starred in some unusual vehicles, including alongside a young Arnold Schwarzenegger in the loopy western comedy The Villain (1979), then with Farrah Fawcett in the sci-fi thriller Saturn 3 (1980) and then he traveled to Australia for the horse opera/drama The Man from Snowy River (1982).
Unknown to many, Kirk has long been involved in humanitarian causes and has been a Goodwill Ambassador for the US State Department since 1963. His efforts were rewarded with the Presidential Medal of Freedom (1981), and with the Jefferson Award (1983). Furthermore, the French honored him with the Chevalier of the Legion of Honor. More recognition followed for his work with the American Cinema Award (1987), the German Golden Kamera Award (1987), The National Board of Reviews Career Achievement Award (1989), an honorary Academy Award (1995), Recipient of the American Film Institute's Lifetime Achievement Award (1999) and the UCLA Medal of Honor (2002). Despite a helicopter crash and a stroke suffered in the 1990s, he remained active and continued to appear in front of the camera. Until his passing on February 5 2020 at the age of 103, he and Olivia de Havilland were the last surviving major stars from the Golden Years of Hollywood.- Actor

Klaus Kinski was born as Klaus Günter Karl Nakszynski in Zoppot, Free City of Danzig (now Sopot, Poland), to Susanne (Lutze), a nurse, and Bruno Nakszynski, a pharmacist. He grew up in Berlin, was drafted into the German army in 1944 and captured by British forces in Holland. After the war he began acting on the stage, quickly gaining a reputation for a ferocious talent and an equally ferocious temper. He started acting in films shortly afterward, showing an utter disregard for the quality of the productions he appeared in and churning out so many that a complete filmography is almost impossible to assemble.
However, he did turn out memorable work for director Werner Herzog, a similarly driven and obsessive character. Herzog and Kinski pushed each other to extremes over a 15-year working relationship, which finally ended after filming Cobra Verde (1987), a production plagued by volcanic clashes between the star and director, involving--among other things--violent physical altercations and mutual death threats. He subsequently directed and starred in the notorious Paganini (1989), his only film as director and which was marked by (again) clashes between Kinski and his producers, who accused him of turning their movie into a pornographic film and sued him in court. His autobiography, "All I Need is Love", a vicious attack on the film industry, was withdrawn for legal reasons and subsequently re-released as "Kinski Uncut" in the US & UK, "Ich brauche Liebe" in Germany, and in various other languages.- Actor

Klaus Maria Brandauer was a music student and studied drama at Stuttgarter Hochschule. He was a true stage actor and therefore didn't like to work in movies except for two small parts in The Salzburg Connection (1972) and Októberi vasárnap (1979). This changed when Hungarian director István Szabó gave him a leading part in Mephisto (1981). Brandauer received the actors award in Cannes and that opened door to international films. Together with the movies Colonel Redl (1985) and Hanussen (1988), all directed by István Szabó, these three movies formed the 'German trilogy' of Brandauer. He received a Golden Globe and Oscar nomination for his role of Bror Blixen in Out of Africa (1985). The first movie he directed himself was Georg Elser - Einer aus Deutschland (1989). He also played the leading role in this movie.- Actress

Kobe Bean Bryant was an American professional basketball player. A shooting guard, he spent his entire 20-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time, Bryant won five NBA championships, was an 18-time All-Star, a 15-time member of the All-NBA Team, a 12-time member of the All-Defensive Team, the 2008 NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP), and a two-time NBA Finals MVP. Bryant also led the NBA in scoring twice, and ranks fourth in league all-time regular season and postseason scoring. He was posthumously voted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020 and named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team in 2021.
Born in Philadelphia and partly raised in Italy, Bryant was recognized as the top American high-school basketball player while at Lower Merion. The son of former NBA player Joe Bryant, he declared for the 1996 NBA draft and was selected by the Charlotte Hornets with the 13th overall pick; he was then traded to the Lakers. As a rookie, Bryant earned a reputation as a high-flyer by winning the 1997 Slam Dunk Contest, and was named an All-Star by his second season. Despite a feud with teammate Shaquille O'Neal, the pair led the Lakers to three consecutive NBA championships from 2000 to 2002.
In 2003, Bryant was charged with sexual assault;with the alleged victim being a 19 year old hotel employee. Criminal charges were later dropped after the accuser failed to testify, and a lawsuit was settled out of court, with Bryant issuing a public apology and admitting to a sexual encounter while maintaining the interaction was consensual. The accusation briefly tarnished Bryant's reputation, resulting in the loss of several of his endorsement contracts.
After the Lakers lost the 2004 NBA Finals, O'Neal was traded and Bryant became the cornerstone of the Lakers. He led the NBA in scoring in the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons. On January 22, 2006, he scored a career-high 81 points; the second most points scored in a single NBA game, behind Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point game. Bryant led the team to consecutive championships in 2009 and 2010, both times being named NBA Finals MVP. He continued to be among the top players in the league through the 2012-13 season, when he suffered a torn Achilles tendon at age 34. His next two seasons were cut short by injuries to his knee and shoulder, respectively. Citing physical decline, Bryant retired after the 2015-16 season. In 2017, the Lakers retired both his #8 and #24 jerseys, making him the only player in NBA history to have multiple jerseys retired by the same franchise.
The all-time leading scorer in Lakers history, Bryant was the first guard in NBA history to play 20 seasons. His 18 All-Star designations are the second most all time, and he has the most consecutive appearances as a starter. Bryant's four NBA All-Star Game MVP Awards are tied with Bob Pettit for the most in NBA history. He gave himself the nickname "Black Mamba" in the mid-2000s, and the epithet became widely adopted by the general public. He won gold medals on the 2008 and 2012 U.S. Olympic teams. In 2018, he won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film for the film Dear Basketball (2017).
Bryant died, along with his daughter Gianna and seven others, in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, in 2020. A number of tributes and memorials were subsequently issued, including renaming the All-Star MVP Award in his honor.
He was. 5× NBA champion (2000-2002, 2009, 2010); 2× NBA Finals MVP (2009, 2010); NBA Most Valuable Player (2008); 18× NBA All-Star (1998, 2000-2016); 4× NBA All-Star Game MVP (2002, 2007, 2009, 2011); 11× All-NBA First Team (2002-2004, 2006-2013); 2× All-NBA Second Team (2000, 2001); 2× All-NBA Third Team (1999, 2005); 9× NBA All-Defensive First Team (2000, 2003, 2004, 2006-2011); 3× NBA All-Defensive Second Team (2001, 2002, 2012)- Actor

Canadian TV actor, musician, dancer and songwriter Kolton James Stewart was born on Canada Day, or July 1st, 1999 in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and has had a keen interest in performing from a very early age. As a TV Actor, he is very well known for his role on the television series Some Assembly Required in the role of Jarvis, he played a lead singer in the feature film Isabelle Dances Into the Spotlight. He is also a recording artist and dancer. Though born in Toronto, Canada, He grew up in a small rural town in Ontario, Canada before coming back to Toronto as a preteen. Kolton was born to a musical family. He is a multi-talented actor originally from Toronto, Ontario who already has quite a background in the entertainment world as an actor, musician, dancer, and singer. He won "Best Performance in a TV Series - Leading Young Actor" this year at the 36th Annual Young Artist Awards (YAA) in Los Angeles, joining the likes of Brad Pitt, Zac Efron, and Leonardo DiCaprio as a recipient of the prestigious award. Kolton is an accomplished musician, dancer and actor.
Kolton's first memory of music was conducting along to The Lawrence Welk Show. Around the same time, he began drumming and was competing in a pipe band by age four. While most kids were playing with toys or at the park, Kolton spent three or more hours a day "doing music," as he called it, whether it was drumming along with The Monkees or playing a toy guitar to The Wiggles. When Kolton was five-years-old, he won the Ontario All-Star Talent Show by performing a drum solo he had composed. By the time he was seven, he advanced to international competitions with an adult pipe band and had joined the local high school band as a percussionist. It wasn't always easy for Kolton to be the young one in a talented pool but his enthusiasm and love for music helped him overcome the challenges he encountered.
When he was 13 years old he began making YouTube Videos on his official YouTube channel KoltonStewart and it caught the eye of Ellen DeGeneres. Kolton was asked by Ellen DeGeneres to perform on her show with his friend Myles in 2012 after she saw his first YouTube video, singing a cover of "I Won't Give Up" by Jason Mraz which went viral, garnering several thousand hits its first week. Kolton is best known for his roles in Some Assembly Required, The Next Step, and I Declare War.
Kolton has garnered several accolades as a musician and actor over the years. Before fame, Kolton began playing the drums at age two. He won several talent contests and awards, like the internationally renowned Percussive Arts Society's Larrie Londin Scholarship, and competed around the world with youth and adult pipe & drum bands before his tenth birthday. When Kolton was 5, he entered a local talent competition and won the Ontario All-Star Talent Show by composing and performing his very own drum solo. When Kolton was 8 he entered an International Drumming competition at the prestigious Percussive Arts Society (17 and under) and won! He used the money he won and took some drumming lessons. All of this happened before his on screen fame. He won an International Drumming Award with the Percussive Arts Society in 2008. He was interested in sports from a young age and also extremely athletic but he was devastated by a season-ending football injury in 2007 that ended his dream and returned his focus to music. As gifted athletically as he is musically, Kolton formerly played many sports, including football. A broken leg on the field when he was eight not only ended his season but also changed the course of his life; not one to sit still, yet sidelined from sports, Kolton auditioned for The Stratford Festival Theatre's production of Music Man in a full leg cast. Finding his voice in that show, he was next cast in West Side Story and Macbeth before being seen by a talent scout who encouraged him to audition for The Lion King, where he became the first Canadian child to be cast in the Broadway musical, joining the North American Tour as Young Simba. While sidelined, he decided to pursue the theater, auditioning for The Stratford Festival Theater's production of Music Man in a full leg cast. In 2010, after landing that part and a few others, he became the first Canadian child in the history of The Lion King to join the Broadway musical as Young Simba. Shortly after his tour concluded, he decided to audition for television and movies and was soon cast in both mediums
Kolton was inspired by the multi-talented actors he met through the theater, particularly the Jets and the Sharks in West Side Story, and decided to add dance to his performance repertoire. He now has an extensive background in tap, jazz, contemporary, ballet, and hip hop, including five years of competition experience, which also enables him to move naturally and rhythmically around any stage he encounters.
After his run with The Lion King, Kolton began to audition for film and TV roles and has worked steadily in both mediums since. He stars as Jarvis in the YTV series Some Assembly Required, which can also be seen outside of Canada on Netflix. The show gives Kolton the best of both worlds in that it is filmed both on a closed set and in front of a live studio audience once a week as well. Kolton also sings the show's opening theme, "Here We Go," which he recorded in LA at the same studio used by Michael Jackson.
Inspired in his youngest years by artists like Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, The Monkees and Elton John, Kolton now also looks to more recent musical influences such as Justin Timberlake - for his versatility and seamless transitions between music and acting - as well as Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, and John Mayer.
In addition to singing and percussion, Kolton also plays guitar, bass, and keyboards; his original music reflects his eclectic taste and is a mix of various styles and rhythms ranging from pop to soul. Kolton's YouTube page includes cover versions of many of his favorite artists' music, including Jason Mraz's "I Won't Give Up," which led to a performance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Kolton continues to hone his songwriting skills and is currently working on his debut album.
Kolton has done a fair share of theatre as well, acting at The Stratford Shakespeare Festival and Disney's The Lion King. He performed at The Stratford Festival for 2 seasons and was cast as an actor and soloist in several productions including The Music Man, MacBeth and West Side Story. During one of his performances, a talent scout suggested that Kolton audition for The Lion King National Broadway Tour. Kolton was hired as the first Canadian child to ever join The Lion King family as Young Simba. He was featured in the dance movie Make Your Move, starring Derek Hough. In an amazing trivia, he appeared in four episodes of The Family Channel hit series The Next Step.
Whether it is singing, dancing, playing an instrument, or acting, Kolton is passionate about his artistry as a performer. "I knew as soon as I stepped on stage that I was hooked for life," he said. "There was no turning back." Kolton is passionate about his artistry as a performer. He says as soon as he stepped on the stage he knew he was hooked for life and there was no turning back.
In addition to his continued role on Some Assembly Required, now in its third season, Kolton recently finished filming two upcoming movies, Angels in the Snow and My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, and is also working on his debut album. Kolton has had an amazing journey and is grateful for the incredible experiences he has had so far. The sky is (not) the limit for Kolton as he continues to pursue his dreams.
When he is not performing, Kolton is as typical a teen as possible; he enjoys playing video games with his friends, sports, and working out as well as writing scripts and making movies. When he is not on-set, he lives in Lynedoch, Ontario, Canada and in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.- Actor

Television and film actor. Pentathlon Champion. Father. Werewolf... Born in Scarborough, Ontario and raised in a farm town northeast of Toronto, Kris' driven spirit has garnered success in many areas of his life. Kris knew he wanted to be an actor early on, however acting wasn't a widely-supported career choice in his family. Instead of pursuing it right away, Kris opted to attend Montreal's Concordia University School of Business to study international commerce. While continuing his education, Kris also competed in sports, as he was a strong athlete throughout grammar and high school. Quickly, he excelled as an athlete, becoming a member of the Canadian National Pentathlon Team and achieving silver medals from both the Pan American and Pan Pacific Pentathlon Championships for riding and fencing. Although Kris was an extremely talented athlete, both his financial situation and his interests lead him into the acting world.
In 1994, Holden-Ried joined a small agency in Montreal in the hopes of making some money, so he could continue his education. His first audition that came up was for the title/leading role in "Young Ivanhoe," a 12th century dramatic, children's period piece TV movie. Kris had the skills, the look, and luckily, as it turns out, the talent. He landed this first audition and has been working as an actor ever since.
Kris currently stars as 'Dyson,' in the Syfy series Lost Girl, where he portrays a very likable werewolf-shifter, working in the human world as a police detective. You can also see Kris as Quint in the fourth Underworld installment, Underworld Awakening, and The Returned.
Viewers may also know Kris as 'William Compton,' on Showtime's former hit series, The Tudors, (2007,) as he has been working nonstop for nearly two decades. Other credits include multi-episode arcs on Degrassi: The Next Generation, M.V.P. and The Bridge. His film credits also include K-19: The Widowmaker, Gossip, amongst others. To improve his craft, Holden-Ried has trained with Uta Hagen's Master Class Scene Study, and with Janine Manatis of the Actor's Studio NY and the National Film Acting School.
When Kris isn't acting, he enjoys adventure, traveling, and being outdoors. Some of his interests include sailing, scuba diving, surfing, and yoga, with one of his favorite films being Gandhi. If he could work with anyone, it would be some of the great, classic directors, such as Scorcese, Scott and Spielberg, as Kris would love to transition behind the camera one day. Kris Kristofferson was born in Brownsville, Texas, to Mary Ann (Ashbrook) and Lars Henry Kristofferson. His paternal grandparents were Swedish, and his father was a United States Air Force general who pushed his son to a military career. Kris was a Golden Gloves boxer and went to Pomona College in California. From there, he earned a Rhodes scholarship to study literature at Oxford University. He ultimately joined the United States Army and achieved the rank of captain. He became a helicopter pilot, which served him well later. In 1965, he resigned his commission to pursue songwriting. He had just been assigned to become a teacher at USMA West Point. He got a job sweeping floors in Nashville studios. There he met Johnny Cash, who initially took some of his songs but ignored them. He was also working as a commercial helicopter pilot at the time. He got Cash's attention when he landed his helicopter in Cash's yard and gave him some more tapes. Cash then recorded Kristofferson's "Sunday Morning Coming Down", which was voted the 1970 Song of the Year by the Country Music Association. Kris was noted for his heavy boozing. He lost his helicopter pilot job when he passed out at the controls, and his drinking ruined his marriage to singer Rita Coolidge, when he was reaching a bottle and half of Jack Daniels daily. He gave up alcohol in 1976. His acting career nose-dived after making Heaven's Gate (1980). In recent years, he has made a comeback with his musical and acting careers. He does say that he prefers his music, but says his children are his true legacy.- Actor

Kris was born and raised in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. He was born Li Jiahéng, and later changed his legal Chinese name to Wu Yifan, for personal reasons.
At the age of ten, he immigrated to Vancouver, Canada with his mother. He returned to China at the age of fifteen, and attended Guangzhou No. 7 Middle School for a short period. He was a "sports student' and was named captain of the school's basketball team. His team won 1st place in the China Junior NBA tournament in the South China Region that year. After that win, he was offered an NCAA scholarship that he had to turn down to follow his mother back to Vancouver, where he attended Point Grey Secondary School and Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School. He was also the captain of the basketball team for both schools.
At the age of 17, Kris auditioned for S.M. Entertainment's Canadian Global Auditions, which were held in Vancouver on October 14th, 2007. After passing the auditions, he moved to South Korea in January 2008 and became an S.M trainee.
He started his career as a member of Chinese-South Korean boy band EXO and the leader of its sub-unit Exo-M. On May 15, 2014, Kris filed a lawsuit against S.M. Entertainment to terminate his contract, stating violation of human rights as the main reason. On October 10, EXO-M's Han Lu also filed a lawsuit against S.M. Entertainment to nullify his contract. On July 30, 2015, S.M Entertainment Filed a lawsuit against Kris and the Chinese companies working with him at the Beijing court, stating that "these activities have infringed the rights of the EXO members and SM, and have caused great financial harm to us and our partners. This is not only an abuse of the system, but also an unethical move that has betrayed the trust of this company and the other members." The following day, Kris released a statement defending himself stating that S.M. Entertainment had made him leave the group for several months and that S.M. Entertainment's way of mistreating and neglecting their artists resulted in serious health issues: he had to take medication to be able to work from July 2013 to January 2014, when he was diagnosed with Myocarditis, which S.M. Entertainment did nothing about. He then lost trust in the company which pushed him to choose to request for contract termination. Lawsuit is still going and the court hasn't pronounced the verdict for both Kris' and Luhan's cases.
