Lon Chaney - the "Man of a Thousand Faces."

However, Chaney proved that he didn't have to rely on makeup in order to give a convincing performance. It was a considerable loss when he died suddenly in 1930. He made one talkie picture but his transition to sound cinema was assured, being gifted with a good voice. His legacy lives on.
