Amy Paffrath has a reputation for running full speed ahead with every project she works on. In fact, her mother Mary gave birth to her just nine minutes after arriving at the hospital. Not one to sit around and wait for opportunities, the young actress is quickly making a name for herself in the entertainment business.
She was born in St. Louis by parents Mark and Mary Paffrath. She has six siblings: Christy, Mark, Steven, Stacey, Matt and Brittany.
With modest means, the Paffrath pack learned to find inexpensive ways to entertain themselves. The energetic Paffraths put on plays and newscasts at family parties. To help her children creatively channel their energy, Amy's mom enrolled her in ballet, tap and jazz class when she was just 3-years-old. Young Amy loved to perform and was always excited to learn new steps. At 9, she entered gymnastics and won many awards and medals in competitions. In elementary school, Amy experimented with theatre and enlisted the help of her friends to put on plays.
At St. Thomas-Aquinas Mercy High School in Florissant Mo, Amy first discovered her interest in TV. She began working in the media department both in front of the camera, on AM in the am, and behind the scenes, producing and editing. Amy signed with Toni's International Models in 1997. The agency helped her to book many local jobs, including runway shows and print ads for catalogs.
Amy's interest in television, combined with her curiosity for people and places, made broadcasting a great fit. Amy's new agent, Kevin Long at The Edge Agency, steered her in the right direction and continued to get her jobs through college. As a University of Missouri Tiger cheerleader, Amy was featured in the Athlon, an athletic magazine. She also worked as a reporter and anchor for KOMU-TV and Emcee at Déjà vu Comedy Club. In the summer of 2004, Amy was ecstatic to learn she had landed two internships in LA: one at Entertainment Tonight (1981) and one at KNBC. She worked closely with Mark Steines, Mary Hart, Jann Carl and Bob Goen and grew enormously from the experience. Again, she wanted to stay in LA and start her career but with just one year left, she once again returned to Missouri. In 2005, Amy graduated from the University of Missouri with a BA in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Textile and Apparel Management.
In early 2006, Amy made her long-awaited leap from St. Louis to Los Angeles. From the moment she set foot in the City of Angels, Amy's career has been thriving. Immediately, she landed hosting gigs on two shows, "Created by U" and "In the Mix", both on Direct-TV (2006-2007). She completed 4 movies in 2006, Dinner at Eight (2007), Moonlight on Ivy (2006), Fly Kidz (2006) and Hauntsville (2016), of which she was the lead. Tom Arnold was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Linda (Graham) and Jack Arnold. After his parents divorced, he was raised by his father. In 1983, he got his first taste of stand-up comedy when he performed at open microphone nights at the University of Iowa. Tom's comedy career had its ups and downs over the next several years until 1988, when he entered the Minneapolis Comedy Competition and won first place. With this victory in hand, he decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue a stand-up comedy career. Once he hit Los Angeles, things happened fast. That same year, he was hired as a staff writer for Roseanne Barr's TV sitcom Roseanne (1988) and began to appear regularly on the show as "Arnie Thomas". He and Roseanne Barr were married in 1990, with Arnold converting to Judaism prior to the marriage. They formed Rapello County Productions to develop projects for themselves.
The couple's marriage, together with their sometimes outrageous behavior, attracted media attention - and especially that of the tabloids - like a magnet. In 1994 conditions between the two deteriorated and they went through a very public, and acrimonious, divorce. Tom has been married twice since then and is the co-host of Fox Sports Net's talk show The Best Damn Sports Show Period (2001). Born and raised on the North Shore of Chicago, Katie is an only child who was raised by her mother. Katie's strength, confidence, and drive came from her mom's hard work, love, and determination. Katie says if it wasn't for her mother's strength, she would never have the ambition to move to LA and pursue her career in acting and modeling.
Ever since Katie was a young girl, she dreamed of becoming an actress in Hollywood. After years of balancing high school and modeling in Chicago, she entered a Liberal Arts College in Wisconsin on a track scholarship. Katie graduated from Carthage University with a Business and Marketing Degree while working as a model part-time.
In the summer of 2004 after graduating from college, Katie took a real estate position in Chicago. In the interim, she enrolled in acting classes and worked on four different movie sets while continuing to model. Katie wanted to learn as much as she could about the film industry before she moved to LA to pursue her dreams.
Katie's first break into Entertainment came from the hit TV show "America's Next Top Model" Season #1 while still in college. After the show, Katie returned to Wisconsin to finish her degree and earn enough money selling real estate to move to Los Angeles. Within weeks of arriving in LA, Katie landed the role of briefcase beauty #11 on NBC's hit show "Deal or no Deal," which she would maintain for over four years. She is an accomplished on camera host with credits for the TV Guide Channel, E! News Now, and the travel show "Get Out" on HDTV.
Katie has worked on such movies as "The Break Up", "Lake House," and her last film project "Iron Man 2." She has also appeared in various TV shows including "CSI NY," "Las Vegas," "Entourage," "Rules of Engagement," "Chuck," and "Working Class." Katie also was the lead in "Heckel U" a web series in partnership with CBS starring opposite Tom Arnold. Katie has three movies currently in pre-production.
You may have seen Katie in over a dozen national advertising campaigns for brands such as InterContinental Hotels, Sketchers, Elastiderm Skin Care, AT&T, Nike, Chandon Champagne, Supreme Protein, Cadillac, ProActive, Payless, and as part of the "Refreshment Duo" for Labatt's Blue Light. She was also named one of "People Magazine's 100 Most Beautiful People" from "Deal or no Deal."
Katie's passion is rescuing animals. She has helped find homes for hundreds of abused and unwanted animals. Whenever Katie gets the chance, she volunteers at various animal rescue groups; one of which is Tippi Hedren's Sanctuary for exotic big cats, "Shambala," and the "Wild Life Waystation." Katie has been working with big cats for over eight years and one day hopes to open her own animal rescue and sanctuary. One of Katie's many accomplishments was gathering ten humane organizations in Chicago and producing a fundraiser which raised money to help support animal rescue and abuse centers in Chicago. Katie just produced the "Diamond's Not Fur" Humanitarian Awards. A Star Studded Red Carpet Event where Betty White honored Madeline Bernstein, President of the SpcaLA with a Humanitarian Award in support of the West Hollywood "Fur Free" Movement. The Gala helped raised money for the SpcaLA and their animal welfare program to prevent cruelty, rescue, and care for animals in Los Angeles! Because if it's success the West Hollywood "Fur Free" bill passed Nov. 2011 and will be going into effect in the beginning of 2012.- Actress
