- DirectorAnthony RussoJoe RussoStarsRobert Downey Jr.Chris HemsworthMark RuffaloThe Avengers and their allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.Avengers: Infinity War impresses mostly with it's vast array of characters and its ability to create a cohesive, albeit quite one sided movie. The stakes are raised about as high as possible in this movie, and the serious tone the movie takes because of this works surprisingly well. A lot of this is because of Thanos, who is a much better and compelling villain compared to other Marvel movies. The direction, and cinematography are good, and the surprising ending really breaks new ground for Marvel making this one of their better movies. 8/10
- DirectorWilliam WylerStarsGregory PeckAudrey HepburnEddie AlbertA bored and sheltered princess escapes her guardians and falls in love with an American newsman in Rome.Roman Holiday has good performances, a pretty interesting script, and good direction. At first the plot may seem somewhat rudimentary, but the film picks up once the journalists are introduced. Overall, this movie was enjoyable and worth a go. 8/10
- DirectorGeorge CukorStarsCary GrantKatharine HepburnJames StewartWhen a rich woman's ex-husband and a tabloid-type reporter turn up just before her planned remarriage, she begins to learn the truth about herself. This film boasts good performances and some pretty fun and witty dialogue mostly coming from Cary Grant's character. The characters are well written and pretty memorable, and go through satisfactory character arcs throughout the films run time. This film was really solid overall. 8/10
- DirectorAlfred HitchcockStarsMargaret LockwoodMichael RedgravePaul LukasWhile travelling in continental Europe, a rich young playgirl realizes that an elderly lady seems to have disappeared from the train. This Hitchcock mystery movie is interesting as it takes place in a very confined space and thus has a limited amount of sets. The acting and direction are on point, and the script has some interesting twists. While not Hitchcock's best, this is still a solid film. 8/10
- DirectorNorman JewisonStarsSidney PoitierRod SteigerWarren OatesA black Philadelphia police detective is mistakenly suspected of a local murder while passing through a racially hostile Mississippi town, and after being cleared is reluctantly asked by the police chief to investigate the case. This best picture winning film has a interesting premise and very good acting by the leads. The plot is pretty interesting and has some good twists at the end. 8/10
- DirectorChuck KonzelmanCary SolomonStarsAshley BratcherBrooks RyanRobia ScottAll Abby Johnson ever wanted to do was help women. As one of the youngest Planned Parenthood clinic directors in the nation, she believed in a woman's right to choose. Until the day she saw something that changed everything. This controversial rated R movie from PureFlix isn't as bad or as good as some people say. The movie has decent acting and production, but nothing to really write home about either. Some of the characters are very bad and are more caricatures then actual characters. Probably the biggest weakness of the film is drastic tone changes throughout the movie. One scene we go from a graphic abortion to the typical family friendly bright and happy christian movie tone. Changes like this happen quite a few times throughout the films run time. Overall, interesting effort from PureFlix but the film still has a lot animosity towards people who support abortion and therefore probably want change many people minds. 4.5/10
- DirectorJohn McTiernanStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerCarl WeathersKevin Peter HallA team of commandos on a mission in a Central American jungle find themselves hunted by an extraterrestrial warrior.Predator is a flawed 80s action movie with lots of cliches. Most of the characters are stereotypical macho action heroes. The story takes a somewhat unexpected turn when most of the characters are killed off by the Predator, making ii not quite as cliche as it could be. The best part of this movie is the interesting creature design and conception. Overall, decent action flick. 7/10
- DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsJamie FoxxChristoph WaltzLeonardo DiCaprioWith the help of a German bounty-hunter, a freed slave sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal plantation owner in Mississippi. This Tarantino film is ripe with his unique style. The script, dialogue, and tone are all a interesting blend of serious drama with splashes of dark comedy. The acting was all very good, especially Christoph Waltz. The biggest problem I had with the film was how over the top elements of it were. The comedic elements didn't mesh that well with the slavery and racism depicted. 7/10
- DirectorBilly WilderStarsJack LemmonShirley MacLaineFred MacMurrayA Manhattan insurance clerk tries to rise in his company by letting its executives use his apartment for trysts, but complications and a romance of his own ensue. The Apartment is very well written and acted classic. The B/W cinematography is gorgeous making this film a visual treat. 8/10
- DirectorJohn CromwellStarsCarole LombardJames StewartCharles CoburnWhile on a business trip, an ambitious young lawyer meets and immediately falls in love with a stranger. They wed the following day, and tragedy soon strikes. This is one of the weaker films I've seen from Jimmy Stewart. The writing is somewhat weak and all over the place. There are too many plot threads that are introduced, hang around, and the abruptly vanish. This makes for a somewhat messy and unfocused film overall. 6.5/10
- DirectorJames WanStarsJason MomoaAmber HeardWillem DafoeArthur Curry, the human-born heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, goes on a quest to prevent a war between the worlds of ocean and land.Aquaman rides a perfect balance of being serious enough to make the audience care, but keeping the right amount of self awareness to make it funny and not feel ridiculous. The acting is alright, but the overabundance of CGI gave the movie a very "off" feel to me during the underwater sequences. Still an improvement for the DCEU. 7/10
- DirectorJohn KrasinskiStarsEmily BluntJohn KrasinskiMillicent SimmondsA family struggles for survival in a world where most humans have been killed by blind but noise-sensitive creatures. They are forced to communicate in sign language to keep the creatures at bay. This movie is well constructed and has interesting premise to keep your attention. The pacing is good so you don't get too tired of watching people do things without dialogue. The acting is very well done and interesting to watch since there is almost no dialogue. 8/10
- DirectorDoug LimanStarsFranka PotenteMatt DamonChris CooperA man is picked up by a fishing boat, bullet-riddled and suffering from amnesia, before racing to elude assassins and attempting to regain his memory. The Bourne Identity has some decent action scenes and an alright premise. The cinematography includes a lot shaky camera shots during the action that give a certain amount of grittiness and desperation to the action. The films biggest weakness, in my opinion is Matt Damon. He gives a mostly angry performance and is mostly hard to like throughout the film. This makes this a slightly above average action/thriller outing. 7/10
- DirectorDavid F. SandbergStarsZachary LeviMark StrongAsher AngelA newly fostered young boy in search of his mother instead finds unexpected super powers and soon gains a powerful enemy.Shazam has great sense of fun that makes it an enjoyable superhero ride. Add in a very realistic interaction of superheroes and kids and you get a very entertaining movie. Zachary Levi is very funny as the titular and character is very good, and has a pretty good supporting cast. The script is pretty tight, and the pacing is well done. Overall, this movie is a win for the DCEU. 8/10
- DirectorGeorge Roy HillStarsPaul NewmanRobert RedfordKatharine RossIn 1890s Wyoming, Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid lead a band of outlaws. When a train robbery goes wrong, they find themselves on the run with a posse hard on their heels. After considering their options, they escape to South America. This Western stands out because of it's memorable characters and the films unique sense of humor. The acting and direction is pretty good. 7/10
