- CreatorRaphael Bob-WaksbergStarsWill ArnettAmy SedarisAlison BrieBoJack Horseman was the star of the hit television show "Horsin' Around" in the '80s and '90s, but now he's washed up, living in Hollywood, complaining about everything, and wearing colorful sweaters.10/10. BoJack is one of very few comedy cartoons in which consequences matter. While the comedy is chuckle-worthy and wacky in its own right, the dramatic moments are what really carry this series above the rest. While seasons 4 and onwards have diminishing returns, the earlier seasons remain excellent.
- CreatorOlan RogersDavid SacksStarsFred ArmisenTom KennyOlan RogersAn astronaut named Gary and his planet-destroying sidekick called Mooncake embark on serialized journeys through space in order to unlock the mystery of where the universe actually ends and if it actually does exist.9/10. Final Space wears countless sci-fi and adventure inspirations on its sleeve and yet manages to claim an identity of its own within its first few episodes. While dramatic elements are at times rhythmic and overstated, this is a minor complaint for a series that so often tries to push its own boundaries and tries new things on a regular basis.
- CreatorDan HarmonJustin RoilandStarsChris ParnellSpencer GrammerSarah ChalkeThe fractured domestic lives of a nihilistic mad scientist and his anxious grandson are further complicated by their inter-dimensional misadventures.9/10 While the first two seasons are practically comedy gold, season 3 managed to be less of a passionate product and more of a run-of-the-mill animated comedy despite the extended break between it and the previous season.
- CreatorAdam ReedStarsH. Jon BenjaminJudy GreerAmber NashCovert black ops and espionage take a back seat to zany personalities and relationships between secret agents and drones.9/10. With Adam Reed's involvement, Archer was frequently bringing the laughs, even if it's formula gets stale with prolonged viewings. Once he left the series, story was left completely non-existent, though I'm hopeful that with the return of Reed the series can find new life.
- CreatorBill LawrencePhil LordChristopher MillerStarsWill FortePhil LordMichael McDonaldThe greatest minds of the world have been cloned, and are now attending high school together.8/10. A criminally under-appreciated gem at its time of release, it remains a shame that this show ended as early as it did, and its creators Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have moved on to The Lego Movie series.
- CreatorAdam ReedMatt ThompsonStarsAdam ReedEric SimsNeal HolmanA philandering billionaire playboy who moonlights as the superhero, Awesome X, faces against his greatest adversary, Killface, but finds balancing his business and superhero lives difficult.8/10. A product of Adam Reed and Matt Thompson, Frisky Dingo was somewhat a predecessor to Archer. It isn't nearly as well-polished and its edgy and unpredictably weird humor misses the mark more often than Archer, but it is nonetheless a very amusing and worthwhile.
- CreatorVernon ChatmanJohn LeeAlyson LevyStarsVernon ChatmanJohn LeeAlyson LevyXavier is a faun-like wanderer/seeker who is traveling across the land to find out the truth about his mysterious origin. Facing rednecks, inflicting righteousness and preaching about the 'strong, silent types' and morality, this hero has his work cut out for him.8/10. Xavier is a great-bad show. Its irreverent and unpredictable humor can be very hit-or-miss and can vary greatly in quality from person to person, but even at its worst the series isn't lacking effort and is never wasting time. This is possibly the most densely packed comedic writing I have ever seen from adultswim, and at times it had me laughing uncontrollably which more than made up for its worst bits.
- CreatorMatt MaiellaroStarsMatt MaiellaroAdam ReedNick WeidenfeldIn this crudely animated series, a mouse performs odd jobs so he can buy more beer.7/10. It's hard to think of 12 Oz. Mouse as anything more than a guilty pleasure. It does nearly everything wrong with such an arrogant conviction that I feel like I'm the butt of the joke that is this series' very existence, and in that regard I think this show succeeded with flying colors. Very much opposite of Xavier: Renegade Angel, I found myself laughing at the fact that I spent 10 minutes of my life watching a shark fail to start his car and a rectangular businessman not buying a harmonica.
- CreatorPete WilliamsStarsPete WilliamsJosh A. CaganRob TinklerThe misadventures of a group of childhood friends who keep in touch while attending separate colleges.7/10. Undergrads is not incredible by any means, but it's sort of a pioneer for what it is and it stands out as unique and, at times, remarkably funny. In this era, we had many irreverent silly animated adult comedy series, and this stands out by trying to be more down-to-Earth and relatable than others while sprinkling in more absurd comedy outside of the character-developing bits. At times it can be boring, and at other times its slower pace and more grounded, realistic approach provides a viewing experience unparalleled by other animated shows.
- CreatorBill BurrMichael PriceStarsBill BurrLaura DernJustin LongFollow the Murphy family back to the 1970s, when kids roamed wild, beer flowed freely and nothing came between a man and his TV.
- CreatorLisa HanawaltStarsTiffany HaddishAli WongSteven YeunThe story of two 30-year old bird women who live in the same apartment building.6/10. While being obnoxious at times, Tuca & Bertie reels back just in time to make it a worthwhile show for the most part. While it lacks most of the heart of BoJack Horseman, there's potential there for the show to go far uphill, or downhill.
- CreatorCasper KellyJeffrey G. OlsenStarsJon GlaserTimothy 'Speed' LevitchPaul ChristieJohn "Stroker" Strockmeyer and Hoop Schwartz are a duo of inept private investigators, living in contemporary Los Angeles. They dress in 1970s-fashion and face surreal mysteries.5/10. Stroker and Hoop is a very hit-or-miss comedy, and is all over the place. While I found myself laughing semi-regularly, I'd finish each episode wondering whether what I'd watched was good, or terrible. There certainly are worthwhile bits in the show, and there are people who would greatly appreciate the humor, I wasn't incredibly impressed by any element.
- CreatorRobb CullenMark CullenStarsKelsey GrammerRobb CullenSpencer GarrettA big-city lawyer awakens one morning to discover that he has been transformed into a rat.5/10. Gary the Rat is an amusing idea for a show, but unfortunately the dull writing prevents the show from ever becoming more than just "okay" at best. The lows also aren't incredibly low, and what results is an incredibly middling, mostly forgettable show whose cleverest moments could probably be summed up in 7 minutes of clips with minimal loss to the impact despite missing the context.
- CreatorMike ReissStarsJim J. BullockKevin Michael RichardsonBilly WestQueer Duck is a gay animated cartoon (created in the United States of America) with 20 episodes talking about and making fun of gay relationships, sex, making fun of how gays have to deal with homophobic people and making fun of other issues.
- CreatorCarl PaolinoBob UnderwoodStarsHenry LeyvaKathryn GreenwoodA.D. MilesA show that displays parodies of different movies. But the fun is also in the studio.3/10. While The Wrong Coast does manage some fun satire at times, given its immense amount of source material to pull from, the sheer lack of enthusiasm and energy present throughout the show results in disappointment. Stop motion can be expensive and time-consuming, but if you're putting that much effort into it you might as well up the game on the comedy writing as well. Mark Hamill remains the most notable bit of this show.
- CreatorKevin KopelowStan LeeHeath SeifertStarsPamela AndersonTom KennyMaurice LaMarchePamela Anderson provides the voice of Erotica Jones who is stripper by night and superhero Stripperella by even later at night.2/10. Stripperella is better than I expected, which is not saying much at all. The most memorable bit is a cameo from Tom Kenny in which he does the SpongeBob voice for some reason. There's some self-aware self-deprecating jokes at the expense of lead star, Pamela Anderson, which happen to be some of the funniest moments in the entire show. The titular hero is basically a caricature of Anderson given superpowers, and her PeTA stuff is pushed blatantly at the most inappropriate times, but other than that the show has little to offer besides the occasional poorly-animated pair of boobies.
- StarsDave DunhamJay ZiebarthTrevor Ziebarth1/10. Sons of Butcher has its moments, and a number of the songs are pretty dang catchy and quite funny. Unfortunately, there's not enough effort put into the rest of the show's writing to carry it beyond unbearable territory. It's ugly, gross, mind-numbing trash, and only occasionally uses its self-awareness effectively. While there are funny moments and clever jokes here and there, there are way too many long, unbearable scenes, such as one of Ricky scrubbing a surrealistically large woman with a toilet brush.
- CreatorJennifer FlackettAndrew GoldbergNick KrollStarsNick KrollJohn MulaneyJessi KleinTeenage friends find their lives upended by the wonders and horrors of puberty.1/10. Big Mouth has its moments where its very existence is realized and used effectively, and many other moments where it's so confused and tone-deaf that it's frustrating. From it's hideous fish-lipped art style to its wholly one-dimensional writing, the series comes off as pretentious and derivative of Family Guy.
- CreatorSanto CilauroTom GleisnerRob SitchStarsSanto CilauroTom GleisnerRebecca MasseyA group of ragtag Australian agents working hard to recover their reputation in order to prevent having their team shut down.0/10. Pacific Heat is probably the laziest show I have ever seen. Perhaps 12 Oz. Mouse is technically lazier, but this feels much more lazy as it's so flawed in its premise and its execution is so poor that it seems like zero thought was put into it at any stage. There are quite literally no memorable moments throughout this sloppy Archer knock-off.
- CreatorRoger BlackWaco O'GuinStarsDavid HermanTom KennyKyle KinaneAnimated series about bad cops. Not bad as in corrupt, bad as in under-performing. They aren't first responders, they are the worst responders.0/10. Paradise PD is one of the most obnoxious shows I have ever had the misfortune of watching. Chock-full of unlikeable characters, this Family Guy x Brickleberry hatechild fails to get even the cheapest of laughs and desperately tries to rely on edginess and titillation. Watch it if you're interested in watching a Family Guy-style dog orgy.
- CreatorJohn KricfalusiStarsJohn KricfalusiEric BauzaMike KricfalusiThe Chihuahua and Cat duo return for more adventures, but this time they are more adult-oriented.
- CreatorRichard OsmanRichard PintoSharat SardanaStarsNina ContiGraeme GardenSimon GreenallThe adventures of three students and their inept teachers at a London high school.0/10. Bromwell High is incredibly confusing. How could anyone find this series funny? Who greenlit this? The main characters aren't only unlikable, but they're absolute torture. The whole joke is that they're crass British girls, and frankly I'd rather be back in high school than having to deal with these brats again.
