Pluto wins and settles in, sad to see the chicks go without realizing they're hiding in the straw all around him. When they emerge, he's happy.

The main message of the film is "Controlled shrinkage prevents distortion." Good production values make this film very watchable today (2014). An important point the film makes is that electric arc welding is a breakthrough in production that has helped avoid bolts, rivets and casters, speeding-up production and making joints lighter, stronger, and less likely to leak or corrode. An example of a major structure that was not built utilizing arc welding: the Golden Gate Bridge, each tower of which contains 600,000 rivets!
