Movies that I LIKE, but others hate...... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
What others may call "Guilty pleasures" by literal standards. lulz
NEVER MIND THE RATINGS!
YOU may like of these films too... but if you don't, I'm not surprised.
Just out of shear curiosity as to why these movies aren't like by other people, for some reason, they're my guilty pleasure. If there are people out there who dislike these films, perhaps they know something I don't know.
YOU may like some films that others don't, and that's FINE! Really cool. Don't go around judging people by this, it's not worth it; just because you like a film, don't like a film, doesn't mean you're an "idiot", or "not smart", or a "jerk", or anything like that, and to prove it, I am listing these movies that I like but everyone else seems to hate.
As of now, I like these films for their plain entertainment value. I mostly just see films for what they are, and not usually for comparisons with others.
DISCLAIMER: I don't think any of these films are "magnificent" or "wonderful" - but I thought they were OKAY, and don't really deserve the negative bashing they've been getting.

- DirectorGeorge LucasStarsEwan McGregorLiam NeesonNatalie PortmanTwo Jedi escape a hostile blockade to find allies and come across a young boy who may bring balance to the Force, but the long dormant Sith resurface to claim their original glory.Okay, yeah, you might be thinking I'm *REALLY* scraping the bottom of the barrel in finding some movie that isn't really liked by the general public, BUT.... hear me out.
Upon this movie's July 1999 release in Japan, I was only 7 years old at the time. And at that point in my life, I liked movies not so much for their story, but more for their visuals - and the "Phantom Menace" had that in DROGUES! I mean, sure a few things went over my head, and there were a few design choices which puzzled me, but I remember following the plot fine; and till this day, I still enjoy watching it.
Now if I had grown up with the original trilogy, I would probably hate this movie as much as the next person, since officially it's one of the most popular things to do nowadays. But because I watched Episode 1 BEFORE 4, 5, and 6, I had nothing to compare it to. So I just saw it for what it was: a decent sci-fi action flick with great stunt-work and special effects.
PS: And I do think Jake Lloyd does a better job at acting than Hayden Christensen. - DirectorHarold CronkStarsShane HarperKevin SorboDavid A.R. WhiteCollege philosophy professor Mr. Radisson's curriculum is challenged by his new student, Josh, who believes God exists. This motion picture really gives you a dose of reality.
NOTE: Try watching either Kent Hovind's and/or Ken Ham's seminars! They're a whole lot more insightful, IMO.
A little movie with A LOT of HEART! Well-directed, well-written, great
soundtrack, Wahooo! Glad they brought Superman and Hercules into this as well! ;D
People are claiming this movie is "stupid" or "insulting" or "looser
movie" - yo, SLOW DOWN just a bit...
Deceitful movies have the tendency to be rated UP, and truthful movies
tend to be rated DOWN these days. It's because they don't WANT to hear
the truth! IMDb & Rotten Tomato ratings are so biased!
Many out there will make negative comments about this movie and that is their right, but it is also my right to praise this film and the message it gives to all. It was a good movie, though it had some problems (like some forms of theistic evolution & "billions of years" I suppose, which aren't even scientifically accurate). But great message anyways, it was inspiring.
Sure nobody panics when Hollywood would have a HISTORY of anti-Christian hate speech movies puffed out to make a quick buck, but if a single legitimate genuine film is created by Christian missionary people based on true events, THEN EVERYONE LOSES there minds!
PS: And you probably think this film had "strawman arguments"??? Well, it's not as bad or insulting at all like that biased & horrid movie "The Ledge" from 2011.
That flick was FULL of them! - DirectorHarold CronkStarsMelissa Joan HartJesse MetcalfeDavid A.R. WhiteWhen a high school teacher is asked a question in class about Jesus, her response lands her in deep trouble.(Same as above)

- DirectorNathan FrankowskiStarsBen SteinLili AsvarPeter AtkinsBen Stein examines the issue of academic freedom and decides that there is none when it comes to the debate over intelligent design.WHY trash on this?? This ain't no "propaganda film".... lol wut???
All it was made for was simply being insightful, informative, and engaging; exposing a lot of truths & information that doesn't get out to the public.
Because of the apparent blackballing f the film by people who had never seen it, it is difficult to tell what actual viewers of the film thought. Removing the almost obligatory '1' ratings under the above assumption 1,600 voters on iMDb gave it an "8.5" rating ona scale of 1 to 10.

- DirectorJim KammerudBrian SmithBill SpeersStarsTara StrongPat CarrollJodi BensonTo protect her from a sea witch, Ariel's daughter is not allowed in the ocean; but when she becomes 12, she runs away to an adventure under the sea.Seriously, a much better "daughter-mother relationship" film than 'Brave'.
- DirectorBob ClarkStarsKathleen TurnerChristopher LloydKim CattrallScientists hold super intelligent talking babies captive, but things take a turn for the worse when a mix-up occurs between a baby genius and its twin.Saw this when I was barely a teen, and laughed my butt off.
Cute, charming, and funny.
Eh, the effects are corny at times.
But I remember really liking this movie. - DirectorZack SnyderStarsBen AffleckHenry CavillAmy AdamsBatman is manipulated by Lex Luthor to fear Superman. Superman´s existence is meanwhile dividing the world and he is framed for murder during an international crisis. The heroes clash and force the neutral Wonder Woman to reemerge.I thought this film DELIVERED - it got me excited for the next upcoming movies, featuring the Justice League!
Giving credit to Zack Snyder's direction, everything about Batman & Superman was just top-notch. People may think Jesse Eisenberg was a "bad choice" for Lex, but he seemed to try his best and was somewhat fresh & new - giving a new take on the character. Lex Luthor in this movie, is the best we've ever seen (other than animated and rosenbaum). Hackman and spacey were good, but weren't evil people really, they are evil-ish real estate agents. They want nothing but more money, this one was actually evil and smart, very smart.
And plus, I'm GLAD I did not watch anymore trailers after the Teaser & and first Theatrical Trailer - after that I put my foot down, I was like "NO MORE", given the fact that trailers can be quite bad these days.
Well, if you wanted me to nitpick something I really didn't like in the film, it's that Michael Cassidy playing "Jimmy Olsen" was killed off too early in the movie at the start.... :-|
I was so looking forward to his appearance after years of dormant after that time in the "Smallville" series. - DirectorDan BradleyStarsChris HemsworthIsabel LucasJosh HutchersonA group of teenagers look to save their town from an invasion of North Korean soldiers.Hey, I ended up really enjoying this movie - there is an explanation for any supposed "plot inconsistency" there is in this movie, the actors all have great chemistry, the action's cool, the enemy's is a surprising good one, and the story is all-round fine - fighting for your liberty never fails to be a great story in a movie genre.
And North Korea was especially an interesting part to the story.
The only downside for me is that Hemsworth (no spoilers) has an unexpected scene in the film. - DirectorShane BlackStarsRobert Downey Jr.Guy PearceGwyneth PaltrowWhen Tony Stark's world is torn apart by a formidable terrorist called the Mandarin, he starts an odyssey of rebuilding and retribution. The "Mandarin" in this film was NOT the real MANDARIN! [Just go watch the "Marvel One-Shot: All Hail The King" - it'll calm you down :-) ]
Yeah, Tony Stark removing his glowing chest orb at the end was quite puzzling; yeah, this film being set on "Christmas" was puzzling; yeah, this film following the same plot line of "The Incredibles", but there was a lot of good stuff in this film! The special effects are still good too, Tony Stark amazing diversity with his inventions never fails to entertain you. And boy, that showdown at the end sure was A.W.E.S.O.M.E.! - DirectorJon M. ChuStarsDwayne JohnsonChanning TatumAdrianne PalickiThe G.I. I honestly don't understand all the constant negativity towards.
(PS: I honestly didn't mind if Channing Tatum wasn't in the film that much, because he's just one actor I don't care much for.) - StarsDavid JeremiahBEST, DOCUMENTARY, EVER! Beautiful oil paintings, great dramatic narration, and very important truths presented.
- DirectorPeter JacksonStarsMartin FreemanIan McKellenRichard ArmitageA reluctant Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, sets out to the Lonely Mountain with a spirited group of dwarves to reclaim their mountain home, and the gold within it from the dragon Smaug.I call this a fresh-new start - still in Middle-earth, but a clean new sheet of paper, a whole new course of a meal, and a brand-new story.
It doesn't deserve a majority of the hate it's been getting from those, who I might say are a bit too nit-picky. - DirectorAlex KendrickStarsAlex KendrickShannen FieldsJason McLeodA losing coach and his underdog football team face their giants of fear and failure on and off the field, with surprising results.I'm sorry but does Rotten Tomatoes have no SHAME for giving this flick a "13%" on their website?? I mean sometimes their ratings are OK, but sometimes they're very bad.
They've obviously got a hate-spirit for Christians, no nice way of saying it.
They ought to put their immediate bias out of the way, think with an open mind, and judge fairly on flick, whatever they may be. - DirectorMichael BayStarsShia LaBeoufMegan FoxJosh DuhamelSam Witwicky leaves the Autobots behind for a normal life. But when his mind is filled with cryptic symbols, the Decepticons target him and he is dragged back into the Transformers' war.YES, yes, yes, I know. There have been so many Internet videos that have trashed on this film already.
But the more I watch it it, I just feel more entertained by it. Yes, it's got loads of stupid things in it, but it makes up for it by being really good at parts too! The voice acting by Peter Cullen for Optimus prime is awesome as always, Shia Labeof is still funny, as well as the actress who plays his mom, the soundtrack is cool (gotta love "Burn It To The Ground" by Nickelback), Megan Fox is still a gorgeous side-kick, the special effects are TOP NOTCH, the fight scenes are superb ("Let's Role!"), and there're a TON more robots in this (of which a lot of people complain about), but I didn't mind at all, 'cause all the new designs were interesting, since this is a sequel - and there seems to be a rule that a sequel has gotta be bigger & better than the first, and I thought it did that fine!

I thought it was funny & charming to watch at times. And I love genuine on-screen love couples. The dialog was okay, the acting was decent, and the cameos of Christopher Walken and Al Pacino seemed cool. And (no spoilers), the ending is nice too!

- DirectorJohn MooreStarsGene HackmanOwen WilsonGabriel MachtA disillusioned pilot shot down over war-torn Bosnia goes on the run from the local military and an assassin, as his commanding officer risks all to save him.Eventually I understood this film is not entirely accurate on the real accounts, but I remember seeing a snippet of this film in a video store with my brother; and we were both GLUED to the screen during when the jet plane was being chased by two missiles, the pilots got out on parachutes, and the whole rest of the movie was spent trying to evade the enemy - so to this day, I still enjoy watching it, because I thought it was a great thrilling survival flick. And I didn't even know back then that Owen Wilson was in this! Makes me like it even more!

- DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsDustin HoffmanRobin WilliamsJulia RobertsWhen Captain James Hook kidnaps his children, an adult Peter Pan must return to Neverland and reclaim his youthful spirit in order to challenge his old enemy.Understand, "nostalgic" doesn't mean "better" - it just means you're more attached to it. I have learned from the Nostalgia Critic that this film is filled with certain plot holes - but he still loves the film too. I love the character of Peter Pan. On the other hand, I give credit to this flick for INTRODUCING me to Robin Williams, as well as Bob Hoskins, Julia Roberts, & Dustin Hoffman! Plus, the legendary Jewish director Steven Spielberg directed this; all the more reason to like it, IMO. I loved Dustin Hoffman as Hook; I believe he was the BEST incarnation of Captain Hook. (I'd love to see a fight between Captain Jack Sparrow & Captain James Hook - imagine that! That'd be COOL!)
Though to admit, 50% of this film does owe it's credit to especially the timeless John Williams - his score is just absolutely magically & memorable, and keeps bringing back so many good movies of my childhood.
As a standalone film, it's still an 'OK' film!
And as tribute to Robin Williams tragic death-by-suicide, this movie is worth for EVERY family to own & for every child of every generation to watch!
'Nuff said - DirectorJohn WooStarsBen AffleckAaron EckhartUma ThurmanWhat seemed like a breezy idea that would net an engineer millions of dollars ends up leaving him on the run for his life and trying to piece together why he's being chased. After all, being hyped about Ben Affleck being the new Batman, I saw this movie, and I thought it was a decent action flick! Sure a little corny at times, but I don't think it deserves *that* much hate.
Before the Iron Man movie, Ben Affleck seemed to be using Tony Stark's technology, we see him kick butt, and the pacing, build-up, pay off is quite good too.
So no, it isn't generally a "bad movie."
And even is Ben Affleck has been in many corny or bad movies, I'm sure his role as Batman in the 2016 movie will certainly make up for it. ;-) - DirectorMark LewisStarsKristy YoungDoug StoneJames DonadioA talking pig named Gordy becomes involved in a quest to save his family from the slaughterhouse.

Hey, people may hate those moments, or others may simply laugh.
I think just Peter Jackson's direction and ability to soak you with the awesometacular REALISM of his film adaptations of Tolkien's book sums up EVERY "bad" moment

Again, I'm glad John Hughes went on to become more family-friendly during the 90s. (Seriously, I HATED "The Breakfast Club", "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" & "Pretty in Pink". Though Planes Trains & Automobiles did have some really funny moments.)
With that said, I know quite a few people who enjoyed growing up with this flick also; and need I even mention Randy Edelman's memorable score??? Glad the whole crew is back, especially Stallone; I thoroughly enjoyed Antonio Banderas' performance, because he shines in EVERY scene he's in! I surely have missed him, ever since Spy Kids, Zorro, or even Puss of Boots.
And Mel Gibson, I do think, was a good pick as the bad guy; I guess because of public opinion, a lot of people "wanted" to see this, because of the controversy. But that aside, Mel Gibson is still a great & talented actor and director - I mean, have you seen "Apocalypto"??? YOU SHOULD.
And I may be in the minority on this, but that one scene in the van, where Mel Gibson is handcuffed, and he and Stallone are bantering back and forth, I think is REALLY Oscar-worthy. If there was an Oscar nomination for "Best Scene" in a movie, that would be by top pick for this year.

- DirectorHarve FosterWilfred JacksonStarsRuth WarrickBobby DriscollJames BaskettThe kindly story-teller Uncle Remus tells a young boy stories about trickster Br'er Rabbit, who outwits Br'er Fox and slow-witted Br'er Bear.Never saw this film as "racist" - I thought it was charming, and I love films where black people play the wise people! ;)
- DirectorJohn LasseterJoe RanftStarsOwen WilsonBonnie HuntPaul NewmanOn the way to the biggest race of his life, a hotshot rookie race car gets stranded in a rundown town and learns that winning isn't everything in life.If there is someone who dislikes this movie, I don't get it. Our whole family really enjoyed it, for it's incredible animation, it's casting, it's humor, it's soundtrack, it's story, it's characters, etc. It's an adult kid movie! I thought it was another unique idea coming from PIXAR - as a young kid, I always thought cars had somewhat of a "face". lol
Moreover, this movie had one of the BEST OPENING SEQUENCES I ever saw; with that "Real Gone" song which I could listen to over & over, and never be bored!
I thought this film had good teachings in it & great morals - it IS wonderful to slow down every once in a while to take in whatever you're missing.
Many shots of the race still give me chills to this day!
So, Nostalgia Critic, eat your heart out!
Of course, I believe this movie should've been it's own movie - it didn't need a sequel, not even a stupid sequel.

Really? From what I'm previewed of the original, it really seems weird, creepy, & too violent and over-the-top for any idealistic person.
This version really made you feel for the characters, admire the great technology & sets, and I liked many of the actor cameos, including Jay Baruchel, Michael Keaton, and Samuel L. We never owned it, very few occasions where I got to see it. I was too often busy doing other things, so when I did see it I had a lot of fun.
Basketball is both fun & funny, especially when the Looney Tunes are playing! ;) - DirectorZack SnyderStarsHenry CavillAmy AdamsMichael ShannonAn alien child is evacuated from his dying world and sent to Earth to live among humans. His peace is threatened when other survivors of his home planet invade Earth.I'm not "TOTALLY" alone in this, others sure do like it, but this film seems to have the Internet split down the middle. There are those who don't like it, and I can understand why. But there's so much more good in this film that seems to really overshadow the "bad", if you wanna call it that. If it's just mostly about all the "DESTRUCTION", remember, that was all ZOD's fault
But the soundtrack, visuals, and special affects just had me GLUED to my seat in the theater, and I was having so much fun watching it! IMO, this movie should've won the Oscar for Best Special Effects.
I was also interested on the "new take" they were dealing with the Superman franchise - I also noticed many actors from the "Smallville" TV series who were also in this! Zack Snyder even has revealed that he was a fan of that "Clark Kent pre-Superman" show too!
PS: I had no problem with Superman destroying that drone at the end of the movie - I thought it was a good political statement as to how tyrannical & out of control Barack obama's government has become - DirectorPaul W.S. And the plot point as where the Predator befriends the last surviving woman was a plus! Though the sequel to it did suck

I guess the lack of music is what bogged it down amongst others; but as a story it doesn't seem to NEED musical numbers at all! Just look at the "Iron Giant"! Though not Disney, it's a story that WORKED! And no song & dance numbers. And no animal sidekicks. All of that wasn't needed 'cause it was a good story!

Not "generally" rated as a good movie, but hey, I thought it wasn't as bad as people say it is.
Fact of a matter is, it's hard to make a good movie.
