- DirectorMary HarronStarsChristian BaleJustin TherouxJosh LucasA wealthy New York City investment banking executive, Patrick Bateman, hides his alternate psychopathic ego from his co-workers and friends as he delves deeper into his violent, hedonistic fantasies.Very entertaining. Christian Bale went above and beyond in this film; probably his best performance. 8/10
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsMia WasikowskaJohnny DeppHelena Bonham CarterNineteen-year-old Alice returns to the magical world from her childhood adventure, where she reunites with her old friends and learns of her true destiny: to end the Red Queen's reign of terror.Interesting live action take on the classic animated movie. Johnny Depp steals the show. 6/10
- DirectorDavid TwohyStarsMilla JovovichSteve ZahnTimothy OlyphantTwo pairs of lovers on a Hawaiian vacation discover that psychopaths are stalking and murdering tourists on the islands.Saw this in theaters, enjoyed enough to buy the DVD. Very suspenseful, with a very good twist ending. 7/10
- DirectorAndrew DouglasStarsRyan ReynoldsMelissa GeorgeJimmy BennettNewlyweds are terrorized by demonic forces after moving into a large house that was the site of a grisly mass murder a year before.Definitely not the type of film you'd expect Ryan Reynolds to be in, but his dip into drama wasn't too bad. Has a good blend of horror, suspense, and drama to keep you in entertained throughout the film. 6.5/10
- DirectorSteve PinkStarsJustin LongJonah HillBlake LivelyA high school slacker who's rejected by every school he applies to opts to create his own institution of higher learning, the South Harmon Institute of Technology, on a rundown piece of property near his hometown.Compared to this generation's version of 'Animal House'. Pretty interesting story with a lot of great laughs. 7.5/10
- DirectorPeter SegalStarsJack NicholsonAdam SandlerMarisa TomeiDave Buznik is a businessman who is wrongly sentenced to an anger management program, where he meets an aggressive instructor. With two iconic actors in Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson, this film doesn't quite deliver on their capabilities. However, this is still a pretty amusing film and is worth the watch. 6.5/10
- DirectorDavid CronenbergStarsViggo MortensenMaria BelloEd HarrisA mild-mannered man becomes a local hero through an act of violence, which sets off repercussions that will shake his family to its very core.Watched the very end of this film on TV and was hooked right away; just had to buy it to see the whole thing. Viggo Mortensen and Ed Harris will blow you away with their chilling performances. 7.5/10
- DirectorMarcos EfronStarsAmber HeardOdette AnnableKarl UrbanA couple of American girls on a bike trip in a remote part of Argentina split, and one goes missing, the other must find her before her worst fears are realized. Was referred to seeing this movie from a family member after all their boasting and bragging about how good it was. I love the 3 main protagonists: Odette Yustman, Amber Heard, and Karl Urban, but this film just didn't live up to the hype. 5/10
- DirectorJames CameronStarsSam WorthingtonZoe SaldanaSigourney WeaverA paraplegic Marine dispatched to the moon Pandora on a unique mission becomes torn between following his orders and protecting the world he feels is his home.If you haven't seen this film you have missed out one the greatest treasures on earth. For whatever odd reason I had, I wasn't too interested in seeing this movie until a few years after it's release to DVD; you can guess I was highly upset with myself after I finally watched it for waiting so long. 10/10
- DirectorDavid BrooksStarsAlice EveJosh PeckBrian GeraghtyOn a late night visit to an ATM, three co-workers end up in a desperate fight for their lives when they become trapped by an unknown man.Not a very well known film that packs a powerful punch. A pretty simple concept turns into a new classic for the horror/thriller genre. 7.5/10
- DirectorJohn SimpsonStarsKatheryn WinnickLaura BreckenridgeJessica LucasThree women are stalked by a killer with a grudge that extends back to the girls' childhoods.Wasn't quite the horror flick I was expecting, but it still was a very thrilling film. Don't be surprised after you watch this that you'll feel a little paranoid. 7/10
- DirectorJoel SchumacherStarsMatthew McConaugheySandra BullockSamuel L. JacksonIn Canton, Mississippi, young lawyer Jake Brigance and his aide Harry Vonner defend black Carl Lee Hailey accused of killing two white men who raped his ten-year-old daughter Tonya, inciting violent retribution. From John Grisham's novel. If you have any love for children (daddy's with little girls especially) or for mankind this movie will enrage you no matter what your ethnic background is. The contents of this film are not what we see in America today, but it doesn't mean stuff like this never happened. 7/10
- DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsHaley Joel OsmentJude LawFrances O'ConnorA highly advanced robotic boy longs to become "real" so that he can regain the love of his human mother. There's no way you can watch this and not feel like crying afterwards. This performance from Haley Joel Osment is probably more powerful than his "The Sixth Sense" role. 8/10
- DirectorJoss WhedonStarsRobert Downey Jr.Chris EvansScarlett JohanssonEarth's mightiest heroes must come together and learn to fight as a team if they are going to stop the mischievous Loki and his alien army from enslaving humanity.Easily one of the best superhero films of all time. Maybe a little too light and comical, but it's just enough of that, plus the action we expect to see out of comic book heroes. 9/10
- DirectorBrad SilberlingStarsJim CarreyJude LawMeryl StreepWhen a massive fire kills their parents, three children are delivered to the custody of cousin and stage actor Count Olaf, who is secretly plotting to steal their parents' vast fortune. Is there a performance Jim Carrey can't do? A very Tim Burton-esque film based from the beloved children's novels. 6.5/10
- DirectorGabriel SabloffStarsRobert LoggiaBruce MarchianoLaurence FullerThree days before his execution, the elderly Apostle Peter tells his jailer about his time with Jesus.A little off from the biblical stories, but was still a powerful film from Simon Peter's experiences with and after Christ. Very good to see a positive film on Christianity. 6.5/10
- DirectorJesse DylanStarsJason BiggsAlyson HanniganSeann William ScottIt's the wedding of Jim and Michelle and the gathering of their families and friends, including Jim's old friends from high school and Michelle's little sister.Inappropriate, raunchy, and disgusting - a load of fun. If you've seen all of the other "American Pie" films leading up to this one, you know what to expect, and then again you might be surprised just how far they go. 6/10
- DirectorJohn R. LeonettiStarsWard HortonAnnabelle WallisAlfre WoodardA couple begins to experience terrifying supernatural occurrences involving a vintage doll shortly after their home is invaded by satanic cultists. It takes a lot to scare me and quite frankly this movie doesn't cut it like I thought it would. After hearing a few reviews on the poor writing and lack of scares, I only bought this because of the success to "The Conjuring". 4.5/10
- DirectorJohn Erick DowdleStarsPerdita WeeksBen FeldmanEdwin HodgeWhen a team of explorers venture into the catacombs that lie beneath the streets of Paris, they uncover the dark secret that lies within this city of the dead.Another found footage horror film that didn't quite live up to it's expectations. However how I may feel about the film as a whole, it did make me jump once or twice, which rarely happens, so for that I will give it a fair rating. 7/10
- DirectorStanley KubrickStarsMalcolm McDowellPatrick MageeMichael BatesIn Stanley Kubrick's controversial filming of the Anthony Burgess dystopian novel, sadistic gang leader Alex DeLarge is imprisoned and volunteers for a conduct-aversion experiment, but it doesn't go as planned. Not into the older movies all that much, but this film is probably the one that got me into taking a lot more chances on them. Most of the film was pretty disturbing, which made me want to see more. 8/10
- DirectorGeorge NolfiStarsMatt DamonEmily BluntLisa ThoresonThe affair between a politician and a contemporary dancer is affected by mysterious forces keeping the lovers apart. Not the kind of film I tend to watch, but for some reason I was captivated after watching it for the first time. With such a brilliant original idea, it's a wonder this film isn't bigger than what it already is. 7/10
- DirectorJoss WhedonStarsRobert Downey Jr.Chris EvansMark RuffaloWhen Tony Stark and Bruce Banner try to jump-start a dormant peacekeeping program called Ultron, things go horribly wrong and it's up to Earth's mightiest heroes to stop the villainous Ultron from enacting his terrible plan.Although I love super hero films, I do get tired of Marvel needing to put so much humor into their films; not all of them are that way, but that's the way The Avenger movies are being made. It's a fun movie, regardless, it just seems that they're trying to appease to a younger audience. 7/10
- DirectorPeyton ReedStarsPaul RuddMichael DouglasCorey StollArmed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, cat burglar Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, pull off a plan that will save the world.A really good blend of humor and action to keep me entertained. With no prior knowledge to who Ant-Man was I had no expectations in seeing this film, and that's probably why I enjoyed it so much. 7.5/10
- DirectorTony KayeStarsEdward NortonEdward FurlongBeverly D'AngeloLiving a life marked by violence, neo-Nazi Derek finally goes to prison after killing two black youths. Upon his release, Derek vows to change; he hopes to prevent his brother, Danny, who idolizes Derek, from following in his footsteps.A friend referred me to watch this film and I ignored it; the overall ratings told me this was one of the better films ever made and I ignored it. I only bought the DVD because I got it on sale for like $3 and because I like Edward Norton; it was okay, wasn't as good as everyone was making it out to be. 5.5/10
- DirectorJohn HamburgStarsBen StillerJennifer AnistonDebra MessingA buttoned-up newlywed finds his strictly organized life descend into chaos when he falls in love with an old classmate.Ben Stiller plays Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston is still pretty hot. A few more good scenes with better writing and this could have been one of the best romantic-comedies. 6/10
