Celebrated American documentarian who gradually amassed a considerable reputation and a devoted audience with a series of reassuringly traditional meditations on Americana. Burns' works are treasure troves of archival materials; he skillfully utilizes period music and footage, photographs, periodicals and ordinary people's correspondence, the latter often movingly read by seasoned professional actors in a deliberate attempt to get away from a "Great Man" approach to history. Like most non-fiction filmmakers, Burns wears many hats on his projects, often serving as writer, cinematographer, editor and music director in addition to producing and directing. He achieved his apotheosis with The Civil War (1990), a phenomenally popular 11-hour documentary that won two Emmys and broke all previous ratings records for public TV. The series' companion coffee table book--priced at a hefty $50--sold more than 700,000 copies. The audio version, narrated by Burns, was also a major best-seller. In the final accounting, "The Civil War" became the first documentary to gross over $100 million. Not surprisingly, it has become perennial fund-raising programming for public TV stations around the country. Burns arrived upon the scene with the Oscar-nominated Brooklyn Bridge (1981), a nostalgic chronicle of the construction of the fabled edifice. The film was more widely seen when rebroadcast on PBS the following year. Though Burns has made other nonfiction films for theatrical release, notably an acclaimed and ambiguous portrait of Depression-era Louisiana governor Huey Long (1985), PBS would prove to be his true home. He cast a probing eye on such American subjects as The Statue of Liberty (1985), The Congress (1989) (PBS), painter Thomas Hart Benton (1989) (PBS) and early radio with Empire of the Air: The Men Who Made Radio (1991) (PBS). Burns returned to long-form documentary with his most ambitious project to date, an 18-hour history of Baseball (1994), which aired on PBS in the fall of 1994. He approached the national pastime as a template for understanding changes in modern American society. Ironically, this was the only baseball on the air at the time, as the players and owners were embroiled in a bitter strike.- Producer

Raised in Northern California, Ali Afshar grew up in the green Sonoma Mountains of Petaluma. His passion for speed and entertaining was evident at a very early age as his family could often find him racing motorcycles and horses at the age of 5 on their 200 acre ranch. The son of Eskandar Afshar and Leila Kasra Afshar, he is the youngest of 3 brothers. His father is an international agricultural business man and his mother was a world renowned Persian poet and lyricist before her passing in 1989. In addition to his parents guiding influence, Ali experienced a vast variety of life experiences following in the footsteps of his two older brothers, Pasha and John. He grew up competing in Break-Dancing & Bicycle Freestyle events all over Northern California. Once he tasted freedom with his driver's license at age 16, Ali won his first High School Challenge for drag racing at Sears Point International Raceway, representing Casa Grande High School. Through high school, Ali could be found almost every week at the Sears Point Raceway competing in the Wednesday Night Drags, racing his classic 1967 Chevrolet Camaro. If he wasn't racing he was in wrestling practice honing his skills. Ali was an outstanding wrestler and set numerous school records. His diligence paid off and made him a California State Finalist in 1991.
After high school, Ali turned his attention to his dream of acting and relocated to Los Angeles. While fulfilling his parents wishes of studying medicine at California State University Northridge, he began to pursue a career in acting for movies and television. Ali immediately started learning from some of the most talented teachers available in Los Angeles and started auditioning. He quickly landed his first job as a skateboarder in a Pepsi commercial and was then cast as the principal actor in a commercial for the Southern California family water park "Raging Waters". Ali paired his acting and racing income to pay for his tuition for college which ultimately led to his graduation from California State University Northridge with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology as a pre-med major. However, his true desires soon led him away from medicine and toward Hollywood.
Screen Shot 2016-10-11 at 3.34.24 PM.png While pursuing his acting career, Ali also founded Easy Street Motorsports (also known as ESX Motorsports), an automotive performance and race facility that eventually led him to race for Subaru of America and achieved a certain celebrity racing status. ESX became a 2 Time NHRA National & World Champion Team, 18 Time NHRA event champion, 2005 Rally America Champion (with Rocket Rally) and dozens of Import Face Off, IDRC, NOPI and Battle of the Imports series all while setting multiple world records! Ali also created the exclusive and highly anticipated "Ali Afshar Signature Series ESX'' line of Aston Martin and Subaru vehicles that are sold directly through Subaru and Aston Martin dealerships across the nation. Ali also built the one of a kind, carbon fiber, full tube chassis, 1400HP, all-wheel drive Subaru. This Subaru set the record for the World's Quickest and Fastest All Wheel Drive car and the World's Fastest Subaru! This Subaru thundered down the 1/4 mile in 7.9 seconds at over 175 MPH back in 2006, and now Ali pilots a twin turbo 2000 horsepower 2013 Subaru BRZ that has blasted down the 1/4 mile in 7.2 seconds and is on it's way to be the first Subaru to run a 6 second 1/4 mile!
Ali landed his first major television acting role, as (a very fitting) mechanic-racer named "Grease" on the NBC show "Saved By The Bell". He then started working on a string of feature films such as "Three Kings", "Godzilla", HBO's "Guardian" and "The Siege". Ali got his first taste of working with great talent on these projects that included award winning directors and actors!
While most of his feature film projects were dramatic roles, Ali started showing his comedic funny bone on the small screen and landed the recurring role of "Sanjib" on the CBS hit show "The King Of Queens". He kept the smiles going as he worked on another CBS sitcom "City Guys", had a blast as the singing foreign exchange student "Bjorgy" on the FOX children show "The Masked Rider" and kept everyone on their toes with the very funny "Jamie Kennedy Experiment". While he was doing all of this "on camera" work, Ali also enjoyed a voice over gig that spanned over 3 years as the voice of the "Phantom Ranger" on the hit FOX/Saban children TV show "Power Rangers".
Ali soon returned to his dramatic strengths and landed a 4 episode arc on the CBS show "JAG". He continued in his serious ways and worked on two more CBS shows, "NCIS" and "The Agency." He also booked guest spots on the PAX Network show "It's A Miracle" as well the FOX show "Americas Most Wanted." This led him right back to CBS where he landed his first leading role opposite Chuck Norris in the CBS Movie of the Week "The President's Man: A Line in the Sand". He quickly followed his leading role and booked another dramatic supporting role on an NBC Movie of the Week titled "Homeland Security.'' Ali took a hiatus from his acting career while his race car driving talents had him traveling across the nation for Subaru of America and ESX Motorsports from 2004 thru 2009. After years of full-time racing, setting world records and winning national championships were scribed into the history books, Ali turned his full attention back to his acting career in late 2009.
Screen Shot 2016-10-11 at 3.36.04 PM.png His first role back from his racing "hiatus", Ali landed a supporting role in the feature film "He's Just Not That Into You", based on the best selling book. Ali plays the character of "Skip" alongside a star studded cast including Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Connolly, Ben Affleck, Justin Long, Kevin Connolly & more! This movie is directed by Emmy nominated director Ken Kwapis.
Ali kept busy in 2009, he played the character of "Cyrus" alongside Academy Award winner Holly Hunter on the hit "TNT" television show, "Saving Grace". He was cast as "Jonathan" in the comedic web series "Peas In A Pod". He was cast in a new web pilot/series titled "Marisa Rules/Girls Gone College" directed by "Ellen Sandler" (Writer/Producer of Everybody Loves Raymond). Ali also shot a national Mercedes-Benz commercial for the new 2008 "C-Class" titled "Projections" directed by Adam Berg and a "Blue Shield of California" insurance commercial. In November 2009, Ali filmed and worked alongside "The Most Interesting Man The World" in one of the extremely popular "Dos Equis" national beer commercials.
2010 brought Ali back his producing hat and created his first full length feature titled "Born To Race". A teen action film best described as "Fast and Furious meets Friday Night Lights"! Ali tapped into his rich auto racing history and brought dozens of sponsors to support him in this film including Subaru of America, NHRA, Pep Boys, Injen and more! Ali also had a supporting role in this film and played a character very close to home.. Himself! Born to Race was released in foreign markets in 2011 and was a hit on Netflix and in the spring of 2012 in North America. "Born to Race" surprised audiences and exceeded sales around the world thus, the second producing endeavor in Ali's auto based films titled "Born to Race FAST TRACK" was scripted and started filming in the fall of 2012.
Expanding his producing endeavors, Ali's "ESX Productions" created commercials for his special edition "Ali Afshar Signature Series Subaru and Aston Martin" vehicles, Subaru and Aston Martin promotional events, BFGoodrich Tires, Glendale Mitsubishi and a music video for "American Idol" finalist "Katelyn Epperly".
In June 2012, Ali booked roles in the highly anticipated "USA" network TV show "Political Animals" starring Sigourney Weaver and in the Oscar award winning Ben Affleck directed and starred film titled "Argo". Unfortunately a scheduling conflict didn't allow Ali to travel to the Middle East for filming and he had to pass on the great opportunity. In 2013 Ali got back in the saddle of a new Subaru Race Car, a 2013 Subaru BRZ and is attempting to set the world record with a 2000 horsepower, twin turbo, alcohol drinking, nitrous oxide breathing Subaru!
Screen Shot 2016-10-11 at 3.36.21 PM.png In summer of 2014, Ali won the IDRC Winter Nationals in Fontana, CA in his Worlds Fastest Street Subaru. Also, in the summer of 2014, the next generation of the limited "Ali Afshar Signature Series ESX STI" 2015 model year Subaru vehicles will be manufactured and become available thru participating Subaru dealerships across North America. These special 10th Anniversary editions are called the "Red Dragon" series.
In 2014, Ali partnered with Forrest Lucas of the Lucas Oil empire, including the Indianapolis Colts Super Bowl Stadium "Lucas Oil Stadium", Lucas Cattle and MAV TV, to create a slate of feature films. The first film "The Dog Lover" was filmed in late summer 2014. And "American Wrestler: The Wizard", a story best described as "Rocky meets The Karate," a heartfelt coming of age story of perseverance in the face of adversity based on Ali and his family, filmed Summer 2015. Starring Oscar winner Jon Voight and William Fichtner. The third film "Running Wild" starring Sharon Stone and Tommy Flanagan and fourth film "Pray for Rain" starring Jane Seymour also filmed in 2015. These films gained the attention of legendary studio executives at the legendary Warner Bros. Studios , and Ali relocated his offices on to the lot of the famous studio in late 2015.
In 2016 Ali produced "Dirt", a high action car racing film with heart starring Kevin Dillon and also produced "Ride", starring Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, a true story of an abused and racist young boy who gets adopted by an African American man, overcomes their differences and becomes a BMX bicycle world champion.
In 2016 after 2 years of racing development, Ali got back into the driver's seat and set the world record for the Quickest and Fastest Subaru ever, while he blistered down the 1/4 mile at 7.22 seconds at 195mph. In 2017 and 2018, Ali with the help of Warner Bros, started releasing their slate of films and kept his productions rolling, including the films "American Fighter", "Bennett's War, "Roped", "Lady Driver", "The Stand at Paxton County" and "Wheels of Fortune" which were all released on Netflix!
In 2019 Ali produced the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) action film "Born A Champion" starring Dennis Quaid. In 2020, as the Covid pandemic started sweeping the county, Ali utilized his resources and went into producing on what may have been the first film in California during the Covid crisis, a small holiday film called "A California Christmas", which ultimately became a huge hit on Netflix when it was released in 2020! It was the #1 film worldwide on Netflix for almost 2 weeks! In the fall of 2020 Ali also helped create and produce his first series "Casa Grande"
In 2021 Ali kept the holiday spirit alive as he produced a slate of 3 films for Netflix, including "That's Amor", "I Believe in Santa" and the sequel "A California Christmas: City Lights".
Ali and ESX Productions have a slate of films scheduled for filming in 2022 under the new production banner Lila Lane Pictures! As the ESX family says, "The story has just begun".- Producer

Drew Goddard was raised in Los Alamos, New Mexico. He attended Los Alamos High School in Los Alamos, New Mexico and graduated in 1993. He then attended the University of Colorado, and worked as a production assistant in L.A. after graduation. A spec script Drew wrote based on Six Feet Under (2001) came to the attention of both Marti Noxon at Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997) and David Greenwalt at Angel (1999). Both wanted him but because Marti found him first, Joss Whedon determined Drew would go to "Buffy". He became a staff writer for Season 7 (2002-2003), writing five episodes. Once "Buffy" was over, Drew moved over to "Angel" and became the executive story editor for Season 5 (2003-2004), writing four episodes. Drew also found time to write the introduction for a book of essays about Buffy, "Seven Seasons of Buffy", and to contribute two stories to the "Tales of the Vampires" comic series. In the summer of 2003, Drew received his first screenwriting award, along with co-writer Jane Espenson, when the Hugos honored "Conversations with Dead People" from "Buffy" with an award for Best Dramatic Presentation/Short Form. Steve Tisch is an American film and television producer and sports employee that was born on February 14, 1949 on Lakewood Township, New Jersey.
After he attended Tuffs University, he was a producer for Columbia Pictures. He was production assistant on two 1971 movies Cry Uncle (1971) for Troma and Such Good Friends (1971) for Otto Preminger and Paramount. Although he was associate producer in the 1975 telemovie The Missing Are Deadly (1975), and a producer on the 1977 movie Outlaw Blues (1977), he met up with fellow producer Jon Avnet. Together he started Tisch/Avnet Productions, and eventually produced its first telemovie No Other Love (1979) in 1979. They eventually launched its divisions Tisch/Avnet Pictures, a motion picture division and Tisch/Avnet Television, a television division. They soon followed it up with Homeward Bound (1980). Afterwards, the duo struck a deal with Novacom, Inc. (later King Features Entertainment) to handle syndication of the telemovies.
Through Tisch/Avnet Pictures, the company produced Coast to Coast (1980) and Deal of the Century (1983), which bombed at the box office and Risky Business (1983), which was a box office success, which gave Tom Cruise his first leading role. For Tisch/Avnet Television, the company produced two telemovies for 1982, Prime Suspect (1982) and Something So Right (1982), the latter was a vehicle for former TV star Patty Duke, and in collaboration with writers and producers Shelley List and Jonathan Estrin.
In 1983, the Tisch/Avnet Pictures and Tisch/Avnet Television brands are phased out in favor of the Tisch/Avnet Productions name. Tisch and Avnet continues to produce telemovies like Calendar Girl Murders (1984), which was not a ratings hit, and The Burning Bed (1984), which gave Tisch and Avnet the biggest prolific and household names in television history, and it stared Farrah Fawcett, and spawned 11 Emmy nominations. Later that year, the duo produced another ratings success Silence of the Heart (1984), which gave Charlie Sheen his first acting role. Tisch and Avnet branched out into television series production by producing Call to Glory (1984), which was flopped by airing against competing shows, and fizzled out after one season. Tisch and Avnet would continue to produce two more television movies Triplecross (1986) and In Love and War (1987). Shortly afterwards, Tisch and Avnet broke up their partnership.
In 1985, Tisch launched his own company The Steve Tisch Company to produce feature films, starting with the 1986 film Soul Man (1986) for New World Pictures. Then the company branched out into television movies by producing Evil in Clear River (1988), Whisper Kill (1988) and Out on the Edge (1989), for Phoenix Entertainment Group, Judgment (1990) for HBO and Judgment (1990) for CBS. In 1989, Tisch, along with fellow producers Leonard Hill, Robert Greenwald, Frank von Zerneck, Robert M. Sertner, Michael Jaffe, Frank Konigsberg, Larry Sanitsky, Jon Avnet, Steve White and the film unit of cable company Spectacor launched Allied Communications Incl to syndicate television movies. During the company's run, he produced a few more theatrical movies like Big Business (1988), which was a success at the box office, Hot to Trot (1988), Heart of Dixie (1989), Heart Condition (1990) and Bad Influence (1990) underperformed and the television series Dirty Dancing (1988), which ran with poor ratings after one season.
Tisch was able to recover in the entertainment industry by producing one of the biggest achievements, Forrest Gump (1994), which was directed by Robert Zemeckis and starred Tom Hanks, which was a box office success, and won the most Academy Awards, including Best Picture, which gave Tisch the most successful producer in the entertainment industry. In 1994, he struck a production deal with New Line Cinema. During that time, Tisch also produced Corrina, Corrina (1994), Dear God (1996), Wild America (1997) and The Postman (1997) both of them met negative reviews, and they were bombed at the box office. The company also produced The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996), which not only got negative reviews, but it was a minor hit at the box office. In 1998, he was executive producer on American History X (1998), despite the film flopped, it also got positive reception. In 1996, Tisch produced one more telemovie, The People Next Door (1996). As its company shifted its focus on theatrical movies, he produced Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998), which was a box office success, and got positive reviews. It was a minority investor in Classic Media when the company started in 2000.
In 2001, Tisch merged his company with Todd Black and Jason Blumenthal's Black & Blu to form the production company Escape Artists. During that time the company produced A Knight's Tale (2001), and it was a box office hit. The next two features Alex & Emma (2003) and The Weather Man (2005) underperformed by the studios Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures, respectively at the box office, both of them got mixed critical reception. The studio produced a long streak of blockbusters hits after that, starting with The Pursuit of Happyness (2006) and continued with Seven Pounds (2008), both of them were directed by Gabriele Muccino and starred Will Smith, which Smith himself is also producing for his Overbrook Entertainment production company.
Tisch was named chairman and Executive Vice President of the New York Giants American football team in 2005. Tisch accepted the Vince Lombardi Trophy twice, when the Giants won Super Bowl XLII and again when they won Super Bowl XLVI. On April 30, 2008, Tisch along with the rest of the Giants team and administration were invited by President Bush to the White House to honor the Giants Super Bowl victory. In 2007, Tisch received the P.T. Barnum Award from Tufts University for his exceptional work in the field of media and entertainment
His profiling success at the box office continued via the Escape Artists company, like Knowing (2009) for Summit Entertainment, The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009) and Hope Springs (2012) for MGM/Sony/Columbia and The Back-up Plan (2010) for CBS Films. In 2014, Escape Artists and Columbia Pictures produced two films The Equalizer (2014), which spawned a film sequel The Equalizer 2 (2018) and Sex Tape (2014). During 2015 and 2016, Escape Artists produced two films directed by Antoine Fuqua for The Weinstein Company, and The Magnificent Seven (2016) for MGM/Sony/Columbia. His Escape Artists company later branched out into television production in 2019 with Perpetual Grace, LTD (2019) for Epix and Servant (2019). He branched out into documentary by producing Why We Hate (2019).
He was in post production on The Man from Toronto (2022) for Columbia Pictures.- Producer

Lawrence Gordon (Producer) has been one of the entertainment industry's most prolific and successful producers in a career spanning six decades. He has been behind such timeless films as the drama "Field of Dreams," for which Gordon received a Best Picture Oscar nomination; the landmark action film "Die Hard"; and the ultimate buddy picture "48 Hrs.," starring Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy. Born in Yazoo City, Mississippi, Gordon graduated from Tulane University with a degree in business administration. Moving to Los Angeles in the early 1960s, he went to work as executive assistant to Aaron Spelling at Four Star Television and soon became a writer and associate producer of Spelling shows. He followed with a stint as head of West Coast talent development for ABC Television and later as an executive with Bob Banner Associates. In 1968, he joined Sam Arkoff and Jim Nicholson at American International Pictures (AIP) as story editor, and rose to vice president in charge of development. He then segued to vice president at Screen Gems, the television division of Columbia Pictures, where he helped put together the classic television movie "Brian's Song," as well as the first "novel for television," the adaptation of Leon Uris' QB VII. Accepting an offer to become the first executive in the company's history to head worldwide production, Gordon returned to AIP. His many projects included "Coffy," "Foxy Brown," "Hell's Angels '69," "Wild in the Streets," John Milius' "Dillinger" (which Gordon also executive-produced), and Ralph Bakshi's groundbreaking and controversial animated hit "Heavy Traffic," which was named one of The New York Times' top-10 films of 1973. Gordon then formed Lawrence Gordon Productions and began a long and successful association with director Walter Hill. Among the duo's memorable titles are "Hard Times," starring Charles Bronson; "The Driver," with Ryan O'Neal and Isabelle Adjani; the cult classic "The Warriors"; "48 Hrs.," teaming Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy, in his feature film debut; the rock-and-roll fable "Streets of Fire"; "Brewster's Millions," with Richard Pryor and John Candy; and "Another 48 Hrs.," which reunited the stars from the original. Gordon also produced the comedy hit "The End," starring Burt Reynolds, and collaborated with him again on the box office smash "Hooper." During this period, Gordon also produced the Paul Schrader-penned "Rolling Thunder," and the now-cult movie musical "Xanadu," starring Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly. By 1977, he was housed at Paramount Pictures with an overall producing deal. In 1982, he reunited with his old boss Aaron Spelling to create and executive produce the ABC television series "Matt Houston." In 1984, Gordon became president and chief operating officer of 20th Century Fox, where he oversaw such successful titles as James Cameron's "Aliens"; James L. Brooks' "Broadcast News"; "Commando," starring Arnold Schwarzenegger; and "Jewel of the Nile," starring Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito. During his tenure, "The Simpsons" television series was created by Matt Groening and James L. Brooks, as were series by Stephen Bochco and David E. Kelley. After his stint at Fox, in 1986, Gordon produced the critically acclaimed "Lucas," marking the directorial debut of David Seltzer; and "Jumpin' Jack Flash," starring Whoopi Goldberg, which was Penny Marshall's first film as a director. During the 1980s, Gordon also produced for the stage. For Broadway, he produced the 1986 musical "Smile," with music by Tony, Grammy and Oscar winner Marvin Hamlisch and book and lyrics by Tony and Oscar winner Howard Ashman. Off-Broadway, Gordon produced the 1982 revival of Joe Orton's "Entertaining Mr. Sloane," which won the Drama Desk Award for Best Revival of a Play. For the screen, Gordon produced the 1987 summer action hit "Predator," starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, and, later, its sequel. In 1988, he produced the mega-blockbuster "Die Hard," which introduced Bruce Willis as an action hero and forever changed the action genre. The film went on to spawn three hit sequels, in addition to becoming one of cinema's most successful and imitated franchises. The following year, Gordon produced another seminal hit, "Field of Dreams," starring Kevin Costner under the direction of Phil Alden Robinson. The beloved film earned three Oscar nominations, including one for Best Picture, while the title itself and the famous line, "If you build it...," became part of the cultural lexicon. Gordon subsequently produced "Family Business," directed by Sidney Lumet and starring Sean Connery, Dustin Hoffman and Matthew Broderick; the comedy hit "K-9," starring James Belushi; "The Rocketeer," directed by Joe Johnston; and "Lock Up," starring Sylvester Stallone. In 1989, Gordon formed Largo Entertainment with the backing of JVC Entertainment, Inc. of Japan, representing the first major Japanese investment in the entertainment industry. As the company's chairman and chief executive officer, Gordon was responsible for the production of such films as "Point Break," starring Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves; "Unlawful Entry," starring Kurt Russell, Ray Liotta and Madeleine Stowe; "Used People," starring Shirley MacLaine, Jessica Tandy, Kathy Bates, Marcia Gay Harden and Marcello Mastroianni; and "Timecop," starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. Largo also co-financed and handled the foreign distribution of the acclaimed biopic "Malcolm X," directed by Spike Lee and starring Denzel Washington in the title role. Gordon left Largo in 1994 in favor of a long-term producing deal with Universal Pictures. There, his first production was the controversial Kevin Costner-starrer "Waterworld," which grossed $300 million worldwide. Other Lawrence Gordon Productions include "The Devil's Own," starring Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt; the critically acclaimed "Boogie Nights," directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and starring Mark Wahlberg, Burt Reynolds, Heather Graham and Julianne Moore; and "Mystery Men," starring Ben Stiller. In 2001, Gordon produced two pictures that opened at number one at the box office: the summer hit "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider," starring Angelina Jolie, and the acclaimed "K-PAX," starring Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges. In summer 2003, "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life" was released, with Angelina Jolie back as Lara Croft. The next year, Gordon produced the Guillermo del Toro's "Hellboy," based on the popular Mike Mignola comic book series and starring Ron Perlman and Selma Blair. In summer 2008, he scored an even bigger hit with its sequel, "Hellboy II: The Golden Army," reuniting the original cast and filmmakers. Gordon's "Watchmen" directed by Zack Snyder ("300") was released in March of 2009 as one of the highest R-rated openings ever. Gordon is producing a documentary for Netflix on the legendary basketball player Bill Russell. Combining her creative and financial sensibilities with an eye for film projects that connect with evolving audiences, Roxanne Avent has quickly ascended as a pivotal and influential player in the world of independent film production.
Avent thrives is today's hyper-competitive and increasingly complicated world of filmmaking, eschewing obstacles that can stymie the most hardened of producers, while building a diverse portfolio of films that are critical hits, commercial successes and cult favorites.
It is rare to have the resources, savvy, competence and confidence, to invest in and successfully produce feature films and franchise properties. Avent brings all of these traits, and more, to Hidden Empire Film Group (HEFG), the film company she co-founded and has run with partner Deon Taylor, since 2000.
Under the stewardship of Avent, Hidden Empire Films has rapidly emerged as one of the industry's most prolific production companies with the capacity to create, develop, package, finance and produce a broad array of films for wide theatrical release. The company is a major supplier of quality commercial projects for the studios and major independents worldwide.
Avent's most recent film is poised to be her biggest hit yet - the much anticipated comedy/horror hybrid "Meet the Blacks." From inception, through production and into release, Avent has been the engine driving "Meet the Blacks" into theaters nationwide opening April 1, 2016.
Written, directed and produced by Avent's Hidden Empire partner Deon Taylor, "Meet the Blacks" features an ensemble cast that includes Mike Epps, George Lopez, Mike Tyson, Snoop Dog, Bresha Webb and Zulay Henao as well as a 'who's who' of pop culture personalities including Gary Owen Charlie Murphy Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, gossip columnist Perez Hilton, Paul Mooney, Vine star Andrew Bachelor, and comedians Lil Duval, DeRay Davis and Lavell Crawford.
Prior to bringing "Meet the Blacks" to the big screen, Avent produced the award winning film "Supremacy" starring Danny Glover, Derek Luke, Evan Ross and Lela Rochon. The film earned critical and commercial praise - so much so, that the library at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences requested a copy of the screenplay "Supremacy" for their permanent core collection.
Earlier films from Avent included "Chain Letter" (2009), "The Hustle" (2008) and "Deadtone" (2007), as well as the successful WGN series, Nite Tales, hosted by Flavor Flav in 2009 and Nite Tales: The Movie (2011) which brought a younger generation their own version of Tales from the Crypt. The response from Nite Tales: The Series was overwhelming as a staggering number of viewers tuned in weekly and made it a late-night favorite. Nite Tales 2: The Movie aims to build on the continuing success of the franchise.
Prior to HEFG, Avent worked for the prestigious Directors Guild of America, where she oversaw all aspects of production for movie premieres and television award programs, supervising more than fifty employees. Avent also served as a label manager for Taylor Made Muzik, the largest independent record label in Northern California. Walter F. Parkes was born on April 15, 1951 in Bakersfield, California. He attended Yale University and it was graduated cum laude in 1973. He made its first film project The California Reich (1975), which was made in 1975.
He met Laurie MacDonald in 1982 and the next year, wrote the script for the film WarGames (1983) with Lawrence Lasker, of which received a Best Screenplay Oscar nomination. The success led to a deal with Paramount Pictures, with no films coming out. In 1985, he produced Volunteers (1985) with Richard Shepherd, and in 1987 reunited with Lasker on the film Project X (1987), of which Lasker become a full time partner for four years. Both of them continue its success with True Believer (1989), Awakenings (1990) and Sneakers (1992). Both of them tried to sign a deal with Columbia when its deal with Paramount ended. Both of them produced the TV show Eddie Dodd (1991) with Clyde Phillips.
In 1991, both Lasker and Parkes part ways, in order that Parkes to partner with MacDonald, who left Columbia in the establishment of a production company Aerial Pictures. Aerial had a two year deal at Columbia Pictures, and it was briefly transferred to 20th Century Fox in 1993. Aerial's only product was a little known TV show Birdland (1994) for ABC.
In 1993, both Parkes and MacDonald was approached by Steven Spielberg to run Amblin Entertainment, thus completely shuttering Aerial Pictures down. He oversaw production of Little Giants (1994), Twister (1996) and Men in Black (1997), the latter of which was originated at Aerial.
In 1994, Parkes and MacDonald was approached to start up the DreamWorks studio and served as co-heads of film production. He oversaw more than a few films during his tenure, serving his positions as producer or executive producer, like The Peacemaker (1997), Deep Impact (1998), Gladiator (2000), The Ring (2002) and A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004).
In 2005, while Parkes and MacDonald completed production on a few DreamWorks films like The Island (2005) and Just Like Heaven (2005), the duo started up Parkes/MacDonald Productions with a deal at DreamWorks. At that time, Parkes and MacDonald produced these leftover projects originated by DreamWorks like The Lookout (2007) and The Kite Runner (2007) as well as Tim Burton's adaptation of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), the Asian film remake The Uninvited (2009) and the comedy Dinner for Schmucks (2010).
In 2009, Parkes and MacDonald partnered with Image Nation, and in 2010, signed a television deal with NBCUniversal to produce its television shows. The duo's contributions were the two Men in Black installments: Men in Black³ (2012) and Men in Black: International (2019), the third installment in the "Ring" franchise, Rings (2017) and original projects like Flight (2012) and Keeping Up with the Joneses (2016) as well as television shows like Crossbones (2014) and The Slap (2015).
In 2016, he was a founding partner and chairman in the virtual reality studio Dreamscape Immersive, with Kevin Wall, Caecila Charbonnier, Sylvian Chaugé and Ronald Menzel.
Both Parkes and MacDonald were currently working on future projects like "Gladiator 2" and "Barbie".- Producer

After four years, MacDonald started her own production company with her husband, screenwriter, and producer Walter Parkes. Together they have produced the Men In Black series, Gladiator, Flight, Minority Report, Catch Me If You Can, The Ring, The Mask of Zorro, Twister and Amistad, as well as the screen adaptations of The Kite Runner and Steven Sondheim's Sweeney Todd, and many others. In total, films produced or executive produced by MacDonald and Parkes have grossed over $6B globally.
MacDonald and Parkes became the co-heads of Amblin Entertainment in 1994 and just two years later were named co-presidents for the feature division of newly formed DreamWorks Studios. During their tenure, the fledgling studio won, for only the second time in Academy history, three consecutive Best Picture Oscars: American Beauty, Gladiator, and A Beautiful Mind, the latter two in partnership with Universal Studios.
In 2008, they left their executive positions at DreamWorks Studios for an overall producing deal under their namesake company Parkes + MacDonald where they produced The Trial of Chicago 7, written by Aaron Sorkin. Two years later MacDonald and Parkes formed a partnership with ImageNation Abu Dhabi for the development and production of films in the international market. Bruckheimer expanded its activity on television with a deal at Touchstone Television. He produced two shows Dangerous Minds (1996) for ABC and Soldier of Fortune, Inc. (1997) for Rysher Entertainment and TV affiliates and two telepics Max Q (1998) and Swing Vote (1999), both for ABC.
The next few Bruckheimer productions after Simpson died in the late 90s and the early 2000s were Con Air (1997), Armageddon (1998), Enemy of the State (1998), Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) and Coyote Ugly (2000). In 2000, Bruckheimer hit big with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2000). The success of the show led to spinoffs CSI: Miami (2002), CSI: NY (2004) and CSI: Cyber (2015). He followed the franchise up with the reality show The Amazing Race (2001), of which it is also an success made Bruckheimer a major producer for the CBS network. In 2001, he signed a deal with Warner Bros. Television to produce TV shows. He followed up his TV career with Without a Trace (2002) and Cold Case (2003).
In 2001, he produced two war films Pearl Harbor (2001) and Black Hawk Down (2001). The former received negative critical reaction, and the latter gained them critical acclaim. He followed up in 2002 with Bad Company (2002). By the 2010s, he was in declining force, and his films Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010), The Sorcerer's Apprentice (2010), The Lone Ranger (2013), 12 Strong (2018) and Gemini Man (2019) are turned out to be box office disappointments, and his TV shows Miami Medical (2010), Chase (2010), The Whole Truth (2010), Hostages (2013), Training Day (2017) and Council of Dads (2020) turned out to be failures after one season.

Three years later, he terminated its deal with Warner Bros. Television and a year later signed with CBS Television Studios. His minor box office success rolled in with Deliver Us from Evil (2014). The NHL Board of Governors voted to approve the team, named the Seattle Kraken, on December 4, 2018, which will start play in the 2021-22 season. Diablo Cody is originally from Chicago, Illinois, and moved to Minnesota to live with her Internet boyfriend, Jonny who later became her husband. While there, she decided on a whim to take up stripping as a hobby of sorts.
She was working at an ad agency and got a promotion. The job wore her ragged and was something she did not particularly care for. It demanded organization which is something at which she was not very good. Eventually, she quit her day job with Jonny's blessings and began stripping full-time. During the course of about a year she went from Amateur Night, which was her first stripping experience, to a place she refers to in her book as Sheiks, then to Déjà Vu, and so on. She then took up work as a phone-sex operator before returning to stripping.
Shortly thereafter she decided to quit stripping and she and Jonny married. They moved to what she refers to as "the 'burbs, and no one strips unless they're taking a bubble bath." Her stepdaughter was the flower girl in the wedding.- Producer
