Penny Dreadful - Season 1 Review
Season rating - 8.5-great
Highlight episode - Possession
Really loved this show's gothic atmosphere and its ensemble were great. Eva Green was perfect, her possession scenes absolutely perfect. Josh Hartnett as Ethan Chandler was pretty good too, although I guessed his werewolf reveal from the start. Didn't much care for Brona, however, using her for Frankenstein's subplot is interesting. Rory Kinnear was amazing as the Creature, somehow managing to be heartrendingly sympathetic - see his and Victor's gun scene in the finale - and then seem completely irredeemable the next moment. Dorian Gray was interesting enough, as well. The main story was a little weak and wrapped things up too neatly, but the show's overarching subtlety was handled so well that doesn't matter too much.
