- DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsHarrison FordCate BlanchettShia LaBeoufIndiana Jones becomes entangled in a Soviet plot to uncover the secret behind mysterious artifacts known as the Crystal Skulls.Yes it nuked the fridge and yes the scene with the monkeys was annoying, but I absolutely loved everything else about this movie. Even Shia LeDouche. Honestly, how is Cate Blanchett getting her eyes burned out of her skull ANY different from Nazis getting their faces melted off by what - Jewish Poltergeists that came pouring out of the Ark??? And Indy versus aliens is really less believable than Indy versus voodoo in the Temple of Doom or a century old knight in Last Crusade??? Far fetched is the order of the day. I loved this movie.
- DirectorRichard MarquandStarsMark HamillHarrison FordCarrie FisherAfter rescuing Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt, the Rebel Alliance attempt to destroy the second Death Star, while Luke struggles to help Darth Vader back from the dark side.I liked the ewoks. Don't care.
- DirectorGus Van SantStarsVince VaughnAnne HecheJulianne MooreIn Gus Van Sant's remake of Alfred Hitchcock's classic, young female bank employee Marion Crane steals money from her boss in Phoenix, flees town, and arrives at Fairvale, California's rundown Bates Motel, which has secrets of its own.Why remake a classic, scene for scene? Well, why not?? Especially if you love the original. It's the ultimate homage - it's not been done before AND it's saying - you did a great job - I can't alter it. Apart from the Bates bating through the peep-hole scene. But then I guess that was intimated with the original. Weird casting yes, but otherwise I loved it.
- DirectorWes CravenStarsNeve CampbellCourteney CoxDavid ArquetteTen years have passed, and Sidney Prescott, who has put herself back together thanks in part to her writing, is visited by the Ghostface Killer.Whilst it killed the very popular franchise and that is gut wrenching (and Courteney Cox's over surgerized face is looking like the ghostface mask and that's even more gutwrenching), Scream 4 didn't absolutely blow imo. I especially loved the twist. And Hayden Pa-whatever. Deputy Judy was the Jar Jar Binks of the reboot though.
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsJohnny DeppMichelle PfeifferEva GreenAn imprisoned vampire, Barnabas Collins, is set free and returns to his ancestral home, where his dysfunctional descendants are in need of his protection.Burton's come back in my opinion. I loved everything about this movie. Eva Green sucks ass, but she made a great witch. The soundtrack was awesome. Michelle Pfeifer is still hot. Even an Alice freaking Cooper cameo!? Loved it.
- DirectorMarc ForsterStarsDaniel CraigOlga KurylenkoMathieu AmalricJames Bond tries to stop an organisation from eliminating a country's most valuable resource. The pacing was DREADFUL and it did take me three attempts to make it to the end (literally kept on falling asleep) BUT, I'm glad I did eventually sit through it all. The plot is superb and Craig really is the best Bond. One of the strongest storyline's of any Bond movie.
- DirectorSofia CoppolaStarsKirsten DunstJason SchwartzmanRip TornThe retelling of France's iconic but ill-fated queen, Marie Antoinette. From her betrothal and marriage to Louis XVI at 14 to her reign as queen at 19 and to the end of her reign as queen, and ultimately the fall of Versailles.Whilst many haven't forgiven Sofia Copola for sucking in the Godfather 3, she definitely proves her worth behind the camera. Marrying punk and New Wave with the licentiousness of Antoinette's time, Copola, for the first time ever, not only delivered a wicked fresh take on the story, but did it by casting indulgent Marie in a sympathetic light. I want candy after watching this.
- DirectorRob MarshallStarsJohnny DeppPenélope CruzIan McShaneJack Sparrow and Barbossa embark on a quest to find the elusive fountain of youth, only to discover that Blackbeard and his daughter are after it too.Yes Jack Sparrow's character is sadly getting tired (and Penelope Cruz kinda sucked as a pirate), the killer mermaids were AWESOME, and the slipstream storyline of the dude from Catching Fire falling in love with the mermaid made this movie highly enjoyable for me.
- DirectorRyûhei KitamuraStarsVinnie JonesBradley CooperLeslie BibbA photographer's obsessive pursuit of dark subject matter leads him into the path of a serial killer who stalks late night commuters, ultimately butchering them in the most gruesome ways.Whilst probably precious few have heard of this movie, let alone rated it, it introduced me to the mad talents of one Mr. Bradley Cooper. It's dark, ridiculous and dreadful, but I really, really liked it.
- DirectorDenis Henry HennellyStarsAdrian GrenierKid CudiMckenna GraceWhen a mysterious terrorist attack causes chaos in the cities, a group of friends take refuge in their countryside cabin. But the challenges of living in a post-apocalyptic world soon take their toll on relationships within the group. This was PANNED by critics and I can kind of see why. BUT, whilst the plot is a bit bizarre, and the tone is confused (is it meant to be thrilling or funny or dramatic or thoughtful?), it displayed some VERY strong characters and it was so enjoyable to get wrapped up in their storylines and ultimate fates. Ben McKenzie's best role no doubt.
