MLP: FiM ratings from Best to Worst with short reviews for most. Will not be adding on new content once G4 ends. I am composing my final list and try to add in Seasons 8 and 9. I might just post a link to my ratings and final episode ranks when ready.
Most aired episodes are here. Ratings will be out of 10 stars (1-10 stars). Will be using Jeremy Jahns rating system (I just slightly modify it, all rights go to him), if you don't know who he is look him up on YouTube he is great. Gripes don't effect my ratings, and I do sometimes change my ratings. Will contain some swearing, be warned.
Here's the breakdown from Top to Bottom:
10 stars- means it has to be Awesometacular and it's perfect.
9 stars- means that you could consider this episode Awesometacular, but it's just not perfect to me because of thing. So I would consider it a #1 buy on iTunes. Jeremy Jahns uses "buy it on blu-ray," the reason I say buy it on iTunes because it's worth owning personally I just use iTunes because I know all the MLP episodes are on there.
8 stars- means it is worth buying on iTunes, just like it would be worth buying on blu-ray.
7 stars- means it's a good time no alcohol required just meaning that it is good but not worth owning on iTunes.
6 stars- also means it's a good time no alcohol required, but closer to my rating for 5 stars.
5 stars- meaning it would be a better watch if you were drunk. I'm not here to advocate the consumption of alcohol, as I am not a consumer of alcohol myself and never will be. I agree with Jeremy that the rating as a metaphor fits the number.
4 stars- just means that it would be drastically better if you were drunk, same as the 5 star rating just more drastically.
3 stars- means that you are going to forget the episode in T-Minus 1 day or longer, more of the means of wanting to forget it or just not actually remember it at all.
2 stars- means that you are going to forget the episode in T-Minus in less than one day, same basis for the 3 star rating.
1 star- must mean it is dogs**t sorry there is absolutely no polite way to say it. If an episode is absolutely terrible or what I consider to be complete dogs**t.

4.25-4.26 Twilight's Kingdom- Awesometacular
Good: This is a fantastic season finale to a great show, and it also feels like a masterpiece. The first song is fantastic by all means of the word, and it’s still in my Top 5 of all time. Tirek’s intro scene is the best villain intro scene in the entire show, yes even better than Discord’s. First of all the dialogue isn’t redundant, it’s supposed to recap previous events that were significant leading up to this point. Yes Discord is still very funny in this episode. Tirek persuading Discord and Discord turning evil again makes sense because at no point in previous episodes did his reformation come around in full circle. The princess’s plan is in desperation, it’s the best plan they have suddenly came up with the dire scenario presented. Yes, Discord betraying the Mane 6 especially Fluttershy is very emotionally tugging and Andrea Libman deserves an Annie award for this episode, just saying. Discord betrayed his friends, only to be betrayed by Tirek; wow the emotions are getting much more hard hitting. Holy *beep* Twilight’s house gets destroyed; things become mega intense, if you think they were intense before we then get a 4 minute tense fight scene that reminds me of the one from Man Of Steel except here you really feel the protagonist fighting for something.
Best Moment: Pretty much the entire episode.
Bad: Nothing!
Gripe: The ending song is forced. The rainbow designs are ugly.

2.25-2.26 A Canterlot Wedding- Awesometacular
Good: Good dialogue between the characters. There’s a very big emotional core for Twilight. Another great cliffhanger. Pt 2 > Pt 1. The crystal cave scene was intense. Great songs. Celestia actually doing something, and revealing that she is vulnerable; extra credit to the writing and acting to show that everyone was worried about her being seriously injured (maybe even in a coma). The fight scene is adrenaline pumping and awesome. Is it me or did Lauren Faust personally animate the whole sequence because it is very reminiscent of the Powerpuff Girls. The illogical components of this episode can be completely ignored thanks to the entertaining and great overall execution of the episode itself. So yeah to those who hate it, why? This is one of the best Season finales and still one of the best two parters to this day.
Best Moment: The entire fight scene, maybe even the entire second part.
Bad: Everyone quickly turns against Twilight, quick conclusions are never always conclusions. Cadance is obviously an imposter to the viewer in the beginning. Couldn’t someone have done something while she was monologuing. Deus Ex Machina.
Gripe: The floating heads. Both of Twilight’s songs make her feel like two different characters because of the voice change.

4.12 Pinkie Pride- Awesometacular
Good: We get a really good opening song. We finally get to hear Mr. and Mrs. Cake, and Diamond Tiara sing for the first time (I’ve got to be completely honest, I love it whenever Amy Keating Rogers writes for Diamond Tiara; it just works on so many levels). Every joke in this episode hits the bullseye hard. The singing from Weird Al is perfect, it captures everything I like about him and fits him into this universe perfectly. As a 22 minute episode it’s the best in the series. Ooh and this episode fixes the problem I had in The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000 with the rest of the Mane 6 dancing and singing to an opposing character’s song, because here Cheese Sandwich at no point wants to ruin or hurt Pinkie Pie; thus no betrayal. The foil of the protagonist was amazing and gotten right to a tee. Many great visuals. Live action mixed in. The clever reference to the smile song. Cheese’s revelation is very sweet. All the songs are great.
Best Moment: Every second of the episode.
Bad: The ending joke wasn’t needed.
Gripe: The fact that Shannon Chan-Kent does most of Pinkie’s singing and Andrea Libman only sings The Goof Off Song. The two different voices makes me feel like it’s two different characters, and it really shows here.
Standout Star VA’s: Weird Al and Shannon Chan-Kent/ Andrea Libman as Pinkie Pie - 2010–202023mTV-Y9.1 (714)TV EpisodeDirectorJim MillerJayson ThiessenStarsTara StrongKazumi EvansRebecca HusainAfter reminiscing about her Canterlot days, Twilight realizes that she left for Ponyville without really saying goodbye to her old friends, and tries to reconnect and re-open friendships lost.10 stars.
5.12 Amending Fences- Awesometacular
Good: The connections and continuity to the very first episode. Pretty much the entire episode. Moondancer is a great reversal/reflection of Twilight’s character. I love everything single character and second of this episode. Moondancer’s breakdown at the party actually made me tear up. The last 5 minutes of this episode are outstanding. This ending (and in a way the episode) feels a lot like a Disney Pixar movie, a lot like Monsters Inc, Up and Toy Story 3. Calling Having it be close to a Disney Pixar (a really good one) is such high praise.
Best Moment: Moondancer’s breakdown.
Bad: The other ponies in the library scene, it just annoyed me a bit.
Gripe: That this is M.A Larson’s last episode.
Standout Star VA: Kazumi Evans as Moondancer - 2010–202023mTV-Y9.2 (638)TV EpisodeDirectorDenny LuJim MillerStarsMichelle CreberClaire Margaret CorlettMadeleine PetersAfter the CMC help defeat Diamond Tiara in the school class president election, they discover a reason to help her.10 stars.
5.18 Crusaders of the Lost Mark- Awesometacular
Good: Everything came to fruition. I predicted that this episode would happen beat for beat. It doesn’t get much better than calling a future episode and then having it surpass your expectations while at the same time surprising you! I for one always liked Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon (yes, come at me for saying that). I felt as soon as Diamond Tiara made her first appearance, I honestly felt like that there was a true reason she was picking on Applebloom and holy crap this episode answered my prayers. I could not believe that Diamond Tiara was actually legitimately redeemed, it felt so sincere and true. The fact that I was right in that she wasn’t bullying Applebloom for the sake of bullying, and that it was because of her mom that she was a bully, finally she came to realize by the truthfulness of being a sort of puppet for her mom to finally break free and say that she wished she gotten her cutie mark not so early (and that it was different. From previous appearances I knew Diamond Tiara wasn’t being a bully out of spite I felt like there was being something that wasn’t being explaining; really the only episode that made me doubt this in the slightest was Ponyville Confidential because I felt she was going way too far in that episode (LARSON!). Also I would like to point out that I absolutely love Chantal Strand the voice of Diamond Tiara because I grew up listening to her; so that might explain why I’m being a little bias. Also I find it even better that Chantal Strand voiced Diamond Tiara’s mom Spoiled Rich, it added a great reflection considering how the same pony is the problem for the other pony having been voiced by the same person. Going back to Silver Spoon, as foreshadowed by that one glimpse given in Family Appreciation Day Silver Spoon wasn’t really a bully at heart and that she was going along with Diamond Tiara, because I’m guessing they met and realized how much chemistry they have; and oh my god I was actually right in when Silver Spoon sang and said that she doesn’t want to be friends no more (holy crap I was right, yet again.) It was great getting to hear Chantal Strand and Shannon Chan-Kent finally get to sing fully as their characters. The songs in this episode are beautiful and this episode is pretty much flawless for me. For those who disagree with me I say “good day!”
Best Moment: Diamond Tiara’s turning point.
Bad: If your opinions don’t change about Diamond Tiara or you still don’t like her (this is more for people who never liked her).
Gripe: Tabitha St. Germain is surprisingly not in this episode, yet Kazumi Evans sings for Rarity.

7.10 A Royal Problem- Awesometacular
Good: Well it took time, but we finally got a Celestia and Luna episode; and yes it is amazing. The old switcheroo cliche doesn’t well like a cliche here, what I mean is it is very well executed cliche. Wow talk about feeling very sorry for both the Princesses, more Luna than Celestia. Evil Celestia is canon! Ok yeah this entire episode is Awesometacular. Best Awesometacular episode since Season 5. I’m reminded of a very good episode of DragonTales.
Best Moments: The Royal Canterlot voice returning, “That only took 3 hours.” Luna’s bad pancake.
Bad: Spike apparently knows the plot of everything, really that’s it I can’t think of anything else that’s bad.
Gripe: We should have gotten this episode in Season 6.
Standout Star VA’s: Nicole Oliver, Tabitha St. Germain, Kelly Sheridan, Tara Strong - 2010–202023mTV-Y8.9 (921)TV EpisodeDirectorJayson ThiessenJames WoottonStarsTara StrongAshleigh BallAndrea LibmanThe Cutie Mark Crusaders ask Applejack, Fluttershy, Rarity, Twilight, Pinkie, and Rainbow Dash how they got their cutie marks.10 stars.
1.23 The Cutie Mark Chronicles- Awesometacular
Good: The stories of how the character's got their cutie marks is great. Literally the only problems that I can find are bad little nitpicks. The fact that it was Rainbow Dash that brought the Mane 6 together hit all the right emotions and makes one of the most touching moments of the show, and it doesn't come off as overly sappy (unlike in another later episode). Just watch this episode it is not only important for the show, but fantastic storytelling.
Best Moments: Rainbow Dash being the key. "And that's how Equestria was made." -Pinkie Pie
Bad: Scootaloo's "NOOOO!" The fact that Rainbow Dash of course was going to be the last to tell her story, it’s too predictable.
Standout Star thing: M.A Larson - 2010–202023mTV-Y8.8 (856)TV EpisodeDirectorJames WoottonJayson ThiessenStarsTara StrongAshleigh BallAndrea LibmanFluttershy struggles to overcome her fear of public humiliation so she can help Rainbow Dash and the other pegasi create a tornado powerful enough to lift the water required for the rainy season in the cloud-producing city of Cloudsdale.10 stars.
2.22 Hurricane Fluttershy- Awesometacular
Good: It is funny. The tree joke. The Bulk Biceps joke is funny. Everyone is in character. RD actually feels like a true friend to Fluttershy in this episode. The emotional pull for Fluttershy is there. The internal conflict is perfect. This episode is basically perfect.
Best Moment: “Do I look like I speak squirrel?” - Twilight
Bad: The wind speed record served no purpose in the end. Spike really doesn’t serve a purpose for being in this episode.
Gripe: Sound-byte recycling.
Standout Star VA: Andrea Libman as Fluttershy - DirectorJayson ThiessenJim MillerStarsTara StrongAshleigh BallAndrea LibmanWhen Pinkie introduces her visiting sister, the others find they can't relate to that sibling's completely different personality.10 stars.
4.18 Maud Pie- Awesometacular
Good: The humor hits just about everywhere, it might be a little dry but it is still absolutely funny. Maud reminds me of Raven. There are several great things about this episode and I’m pretty sure I laughed as much in this episode as I did in Pinkie Pride. Maud saving Pinkie is awesome. Pinkie is shown to have sheer vulnerability in going so far to getting her friends to befriend Maud that she also gets herself killed. Maud’s small smiles feel so lovely.
Best Moments: The subtle reference to the clown scene in Goodfellas by Rarity and Maud. “It doesn’t talk, it’s a dress.” -Maud. “He’s a rock!” - Rainbow Dash.
Bad: Pinkie Pie’s deflating mane doesn’t make much sense here.

5.07 Make New Friends But Keep Discord- Awesometacular
Good: Funniest Discord episode to day. Every single Discord just hits the bullseye. I don’t recall a single dull moment from this episode.
Best Moment: Celestia laughing at Discord’s joke.
Bad: The Mane 6 being stopped by the smooze to quickly, it could’ve met that Discord might not have stopped had Fluttershy just so conveniently of happened to not be caught in the smooze.
Gripe: That I managed to find something that wasn’t particularly great about the episode.

4.21- Testing 1,2,3- Awesometacular
Good: The facial expressions in this episode are gold! All the jokes hit the mark hard. It’s chock full of great moments. AJ is at her funniest.
Best Moments: Pinkie’s rap. Rarity’s face.
Bad: How is it that all her friends seem to know about the history of the Wonderbolts except her?
Gripe: RD is the one learning the moral.

1.16 Sonic Rainboom- Awesometacular
Good: One of the character's life is put into immediate danger. Great pacing. Fear of stage fright being a relatable concept to many people and it being executed greatly and creatively. Things make sense with Rarity's wings. Great comedy. First episode to actually surprise me at one point.
Best Moment: Fluttershy's cheers
Bad: Rarity showing off and not being completely considerate to her friends.

7.25-7.26 Shadow Play- Awesometacular
Good: Interesting story. Didn’t expect to see Campfire Tales, A Health Of Information and Daring Done connect to this plot. So much cool stuff. Manages to have some great comedy. Best season finale since season 4.
Best Moments: Derpy Applejack. Pinkie bright lights.
Bad: I’ve got nothing bad to say about this episode. It made previous episodes in the season better, maybe even more so than season 4.

7.13 The Perfect Pear- Awesometacular
Good: The overall episode. Really this episode is flawless. Best Applejack episode, probably in the entire series. It seems like Johanna Lewis & Kristine Songco can do no wrong.
Best Moments: Digging up the floor, Goldie’s cats
Bad: The show is restricted when dealing with death.

7.01 Celestial Advice- Awesometacular
Good: Every character is very well written and funny. Discord putting Trixie in check. The comedy is so great. The meta humor and references. I love the inner workings of Twilight’s mind, it’s like watching great movies, and then everything exaggerating to just falling apart. By the way a reference to Predator is snuck in. Wow, Garble actually is given an ounce of likability, it only took 7 years for me to feel this. Finally, getting to see more character from Princess Celestia, like the fact that she has big flaws too. This is the first episode to acknowledge a wide arrange of characters and using them.
Best Moments: Changeling Starlight, Twilight’s mind, Celestia laughing.
Bad: Discord being used as a plot device.
Gripe: The entire cast not getting to record together, Thorax’s design.

4.24 Equestria Games- Awesometacular
Good: I was laughing pretty hard through this entire episode. I don’t care the cringe humor in this episode made me laugh, most because the facial expressions I found to be absolutely priceless. The moral is excellent. Spike being treated with respect.
Best Moments: “Nailed it!” -Pinkie Pie. Rainbow Dash’s face.
Bad: Apparently Fluttershy still forgot she had stage fright. Spike’s stage fright comes out of left field.
Gripe: Princess Celestia and Luna are present, but have no lines.

1.26 The Best Night Ever- Awesometacular
Good: This episode is so fulfilling towards the arc that was started in the ticket master. This episode has funny moments and shocking moments that are still memorable to this day. This episode is not afraid to take risks in showing that the Mane 6 can’t always get what they want. Spike shines in his short screen time. Just like the Cutie Mark Chronicles, it does a great job of balancing out 6 stories and having them connect in the end
Best Moment: Fluttershy’s rage
Bad: Some of the background characters are unlikable.
Gripe: The song isn’t all that great. Making the Mane 6 miserable went overboard a little bit.
Standout Star VA: Andrea Libman as Fluttershy - 2010–202023mTV-Y8.1 (714)TV EpisodeDirectorJayson ThiessenJim MillerStarsTara StrongAshleigh BallAndrea LibmanRarity's participation in a big city fashion competition becomes distressful when an old friend turned competitor takes advantage of her generosity to plagiarize her work.10 stars.
4.8 Rarity Takes Manehattan- Awesometacular
Good: I honestly found both parts of the song to be great. Rarity’s first breakdown. The dialogue feels perfectly natural. There are some really funny moments. The moral is great. The acting here is absolutely top notch from Tabitha St. Germain talking to herself to Kazumi Evans and Andrea Libman’s fantastic singing. It’s great to see the Mane 6 enjoying themselves. Rarity has a reason to be guilt tripping her friends, therefore no contrivance to the plot. The humor seems to be coming more from the characters and VA’s than Dave Polsky himself, which I must say is an impressive feat. I know I sound like I’m praising this episode on every point, but if people can love Magic Duel for reason I don’t get, then I can love this episode for reason you don’t get.
Best Moment: “Isn’t friendship magic?!” - Rarity
Bad: Suri doesn’t get her comeuppance.
Gripe: The rude background pony. I partially don’t care for Coco Pommel and her final monologue.
Standout Star VA’s: Tabitha St. Germain/Kazumi Evans as Rarity and Suri - 2010–202022mTV-Y7.5 (657)TV EpisodeDirectorJayson ThiessenJim MillerStarsTara StrongAshleigh BallAndrea LibmanRainbow Dash and friends offer to help their favorite author finish her latest book.10 stars.
4.4 Daring Don't- Awesometacular
Good: The comedy is spot on. The bird joke is very funny, for real. The dialogue between the Mane 6 is great. The moral is awesome. Yeah this episode is so underrated, it’s awesome.
Best Moments: Twilight and RD fangirling out.
Bad: So if you want to keep your life and identity a secret you publish it in a book series, yeah that sure makes sense; yes that makes Daring Do seem hypocritical.
Gripe: The rest of the Mane 6 feel kind of irrelevant
Standout Star VA’s: Ashleigh Ball as Rainbow Dash and Chiara Zanni - 2010–202022mTV-Y7.4 (352)TV EpisodeDirectorDenny LuMike MyhreJim MillerStarsIan HanlinKelly SheridanTara StrongStarlight is looking forward with a visit from Sunburst but finds out he has more in common with her friends than her.10 stars.
7.24 Uncommon Bond- Awesometacular
Good: Love seeing how important Sunburst is to Starlight. Twilight flipping the game board. Hey continuity. First time Maud is in an episode without Pinkie Pie.
Best Moment: “I’m very funny.”
Bad: Must Trixie be in every episode Starlight is in. The first half of this episode feels rinse and repeat.
Standout Star VA: Kelly Sheridan - 2010–202022mTV-Y8.2 (485)TV EpisodeDirectorDenny LuTim StubyJim MillerStarsPatton OswaltAshleigh BallChiara ZanniWhile attending a convention, Rainbow Dash meets a pony who hates the newer Daring Do books.10 stars.
6.13 Stranger Than Fan Fiction- Awesometacular
Good: Patton Oswalt can really make anything 10x better. Quibble’s stubbornness makes for great comedy. Daring Do is 3 for 3 whenever she’s in an episode, this just makes an episode automatically great and here is the third time it has happened. Hey remember that RD ego problem, it’s not here (I’m only pointing it out because it has been a negative part of every episode her inflated ego is in). Quibble Pant’s character is so refreshing for this show. Respecting others opinions is one of the best morals the show has ever put at the forefront.
Best Moments: RD’s face, Quibble being stubborn, and the improved ending.
Bad: The villains feel like a nuisance.

6.18 Buckball Season- Awesometacular
Good: It fixes all the problems that were in Spongebob’s The Great Snail Race and poses as it’s complete opposite in which this episode is the great version of an otherwise awful pre-first movie episode of Spongebob. For an episode that feels pretty grounded it managed to throw in some surprising and shocking moments. I can’t really find any legit problems here.
Best Moments: Fluttershy snapping at AJ and RD, the facial expressions.
Bad: Snails really didn’t feel completely necessary.

3.13 Magical Mystery Cure- Awesometacular
Good: The singing and animation is fantastic. Great emotional weight. Point on point execution. Good intervening of dialogue and song. This episode is one of many to show that good can totally out tilt the bad of an episode, if any. And yes this episode just like the Cutie Mark Chronicles, The Return of Harmony, and Canterlot Wedding hit my emotions hard. The act structure of the episode makes the moral feel complete. Hilarious spit take at the end.
Best Moment: Celestia’s ballad.
Bad: It feels kind of rushed, this was probably meant to be a 2-parter. The logic feels jumbled. Wait, aren’t memories connected to who you truly are?
Gripe: The fact that Rebecca Shoichet does Twilight’s singing and Tara Strong does only the speaking line. The two different voices makes me feel like it’s two different characters. Cliched final shot.

2.3 Lesson Zero- #1 Buy on itunes
Good: Twilight’s best episode for a while. Spike is at his best, and this is his best episode for a long time. Rarity’s scene was great, and she ends up finding her ribbon which is actually kind of funny. Applejack actually asking Rainbow Dash to destroy the barn for her is played up for great laughs. The Fluttershy fight scene that’s actually not a fight scene was gold! Twilight begins to absolutely lost it and Spike is shown off at his best telling her to snap out of it. The facial animation just keeps getting better. Everything about the writing and voice acting is just great. From crazy Pinkie Pie too crazy Twilight; who’s the most craziest pony take your pic. Cuckoo, cuckoo, cuckoo. Big Mac running off with Smartypants is so funny. Good moral to go along with it.
Best moment: “Hi Girls.” - Twilight
Bad: Celestia’s “punishment,” maybe if it were rephrased I wouldn’t find it to be so contrived. The spell goes too far because of course it does.
Gripe: The magic Kindergarden thing makes no sense, it felt like an excuse for Twilight to make up a very bad consequence, sort of the same problem that was in A Bird In A Hoof.

1.25 Party of One- #1 Buy on itunes
Good: The comedy is spot on. Pinkie Pie is at her best and the same goes for every character in this episode. Pinkie Pie driving herself to madness is very entertaining and a very interesting way of showing us the inner workings of her mind and it's also shown by her Mane's deflation. Aside from the one flaw with this episode, there is not a single dull moment here in this episode as there is always something happening. The fact that this is Andrea Libman’s favorite episode still to this today makes we like this episode even more because not only is it a fun episode for the viewer, but also a blast for the VA’s to record. Pinkie Pie’s paranoia makes sense, how her friends seem like that are busy with other things and don’t have time for her anymore is a common paranoia we all face, despite throwing one party 24 hours after another.
Best Moments: Pinkie Pie's eyes going crossed.
Bad: Transitions; there is one flaw that no one seems to address when talking about this episode. Immediately after Gummy's party Twilight says we should have another party real soon and Pinkie Pie decides to invite her friends to a party the very next day, I understand it's in her character, but the fact that she didn't stop to think about her friends probably being busy at one point adds to the problem this episode carries.

Good: Every second that that prick Svengallop isn’t anywhere to be found. Applejack’s sister is awesome. Great moral. Lena Hall was perfectly casted.
Best Moment: The ending concert.
Bad: Svengallop, Svengallop, Svengallop!!!! This *beep* pony is a complete and total *beep* a**hole who deserved huge consequences for his actions (also it doesn’t help the fact that he’s voiced by Colin Murdock, one voice actor who I don’t particularly like). Just like in Filli Vanni an episode written by Amy Keating Rogers that is almost flawless is ruined by one character!
Gripe: Almost a perfect episode.

2.1-2.2- The Return of Harmony- #1 Buy on itunes
Best: Best season opener to this day. Discord is hilarious, entertaining; and Lauren Faust casting John De Lancie who played Q in Star Trek: TNG to play this character who basically has the exact same character traits as Q is genius. Probably the best comedy on the show. For a majority of the episode I felt emotionally involved. The corruptions of the Mane 6; Fluttershy actually resists Discord (hinting at the future). Best cliffhanger. There was an actual fight scene in the library. Twilight was actually almost defeated, that’s is where the emotional core hits hard. Pt 1 > Pt 2. This episode would’ve been perfect had it not been for the climax.
Best Moments: The corruption of the Mane 6 and the exploding chocolate milk.
Gripe: When did the palace get a labyrinth?! This is the only time it’s here. Pinkie Pie’s mane didn’t deflate for some reason.
Bad: The climax it’s rushed and anticlimactic because of Discord’s cockyness. Discord’s defeat is very rushed. Twilight is saved by Spike’s ability to barf up letters.

Good: Josh Haber finally writes an above average episode. The turmoil that Applebloom is going through can be relatable for just about anyone. I love how the dreams were handled. I really like how each of the CMC have now gotten a dream episode featuring Princess Luna, and for it to all come together in the end with the treehouse in the dream makes it feel all the more complete and fulfilling. This is sort of like Inception.
Best Moment: AJ and Big Mac’s switch.

Good: Tabitha St. Germain is at her absolute best in this episode; next to Rarity Takes Manehattan I would say that she is definitely the MVP of Season 4 next to Andrea Libman (as Fluttershy), it’s funny that this is also a Dave Polsky episode, hey Dave can you please write more Rarity or Sweetie Belle focused episodes. The dreams feel so intense and are fantastically well done. Sweetie Belle is told that she is dreaming in the most funny way possible. The head piece falling apart scene is moving. The future part of the dream, oh my god!
Best Moment: Sweetie Belle bumping into Luna in reality.
Bad: Sweetie Belle comes across as totally ungrateful, and yes it feels really selfish. Sapphire Shores is two-dimensional as they come.

Good: I honestly really like the song. The scrapbook is very sweet. Hints at Pinkie’s back story
Best Moment: Applebloom referring to Twilightlicious. There are a few funny moments that hit hard. The moral is mature and handled greatly. The Apple family apologizing for their screw-ups and Pinkie saying what a family is all about.
Bad: Why is Applejack giving Pinkie a tour of things she already knows? In the end the characters really accomplished nothing. This episode feels kind of pointless, which sadly keeps me from giving it my best rating.

Good: RD’s friends are genuinely concerned for her. The Daring Do stuff is pretty entertaining and some of it surprisingly made it past censors. Fluttershy smiles at RD telling the truth and Twilight doesn’t subject us to the I told you so cliche, thank you.
Best Moments: RD’s unseen crash and her squee.
Bad: Her friends laugh right in her face and it comes off as somewhat mean, “oh ha ha reading isn’t just for nerds stupid.” The moral is obvious and it is not well executed. The threat of the cliched I told you so. Somehow only all her friends are woken up at the end, plot convenience.
Gripe: We don’t get to see the trick or tricks that caused RD to crash. Lazy animation, RD’s tricks and AJ’s mouth not moving. Pinkie is somehow grossed out by how RD is eating.

Best Moments: The freakouts.
Bad: The Yak’s declaring war was irrelevant and too far.

2.9 Sweet and Elite - #1 Buy on itunes
Good: Rarity’s inner conflict. The being in two places at once conflict is well executed, making it’s cliche not seem like such a bad thing. Rarity actually feeling guilt; she eventually ends up telling the truth and there’s no forced in hurting consequence (Heart’s and Hooves Day). Ultimately the punishment doesn’t matter and I know it may make me sound like a hypocrite in my Tanks For the Memories review, but the difference here is that Rarity’s actions didn’t cause any destruction and or were hurting any other ponies. Fancypants.
Best Moments: Rarity’s faint, “What croquet mallet?” - Rarity
Bad: The upperclass ponies is a sort of pointless added external conflict. Some of the animation makes me feel that the Rarity’s friends are going overboard with the partying taking the party to the garden.
Gripe: Twilight instantly liking the unfinished dress. Sound-byte recycling. Where’s Spike?

It has some good funny moments, the distant relative & Sweetie Belle bucking the tree. Granny Smith’s flashback. Applebloom defending Granny Smith doesn’t feel forced. Filthy Rich actually parenting.
Best Moment: Pretty much any scene in the classroom (I’m not kidding).

Best Moment: Twilight’s ending dialogue

Good: Wow, Twilight’s book is as old as the cartoon itself, such a great way to keep up with continuity. Pinkie Pie has confetti in her page of the book. Starlight putting her spells to good use, no really I think this is the first time she actually legitimately did. So nice to put the characters in the same spot as the viewers with remembering past adventurers. Wait did Applebloom just give away the plot to a future episode. Poor Rarity (insert sad face here). So now we have ponies pointing out that Fluttershy is learning the same lesson over again. Ok Starlight you are awesome in this episode.
Best Moments: Twilight's Mr. Stubborn face, crazy Rarity.

The moral is great. I really liked the background ponies for the most part. You end up really feeling for Rarity and it’s not the first time the series has done this so well.
Best Moment: The big fat pony at the end.
Bad: Sassy’s turn to opposing Rarity’s point of view felt rushed and a little contrived, like it was something that was forgotten. While the moral is great the episode feels pretty formulaic.
Gripe: That Rarity’s friends show up in the beginning only not to appear in the rest of the episode.

6.25-6.26 To Where and Back Again- Buy it on iTunes
Good: Follows through on “Times Are Changling.” There is continuity that is followed throughout the season. Starlight’s character growth.
Best Moment: The Fluttershy trap.
Bad: It’s not as good as previous season finales, and no where close to as great as the first four seasons worth, even season 5’s is a little better than this. The fact that everyone is easily captured, I don’t buy it here. This was the most lacking in the great moments for me.
Gripe: End of the letdown that was Season 6.

6.16 The Times Are Changling- Buy it on itunes
Good: Spike actually felt like he was completely relevant, it kind of compliments Equestria Games, and it turns out that this is the best Spike focused episode since then.
Best Moment: Spike finally gets his own legit song.
Bad: The guards laughing at Spike, it’s cliched and unnecessary. The song at the end, while great feels force placed. The ending/last 5 minutes of the episode feel rushed.
Gripe: It probably won’t be followed up right away or at all.

6.09 Saddle Row & Rec- Buy it on itunes
Good: The story structure. This episode is pretty consistently funny and contains some of the most memorable moments of Season 6.
Best Moment: “No Spoilers!” - Rarity
Bad: The landlord and his daughter. The Mane 6 screwing up is out of complete stupidity, and not a sense of error. DJPON3 being inconsiderate.
Gripe: Missed opportunity to get J.K Simmons to parody J. Jonah Jameson in pony form, that’s literally what I was thinking.

5.16 Made in Manehattan- #1 Buy on itunes
Good: I didn’t find this episode to be boring, like some other people. This episode at its core knows what it’s trying to do and succeeds. The subtle moral of a little help goes a long way is a great moral that I found to be well executed. Both Rarity and Applejack were in complete character. There really wasn’t a single pony that ruined the episode. I liked how the play came together at the end.
Best Moment: Coco Pommel’s return, I don’t care what Hasbro says (her name is not Ms. Pommel) it’s Coco Pommel!
Bad: The pacing isn’t good. The stage falling apart was so obvious that it was kind of annoying.
Gripe: This episode might be boring to others. Not as good as Rarity Takes Manehattan. The moral could’ve been executed a lot better, however it’s a lot better than morals say from Feeling Pinkie Keen. Sometimes being average isn’t all that bad.

6.21 Every Little Thing She Does (Is Magic)- Buy it on iTunes
Good: I like Starlight’s dilemma. This is Starlight’s best episode of the series. Starlight’s fear of failure is the right way of executing the moral as opposed to Flutter Brutter, because unlike that episode I care for Starlight, you want to know the #1 reason why she acknowledges her mistakes and that is so crucial. Starlight faced consequences. This episode is very funny.
Best Moment: Everything going horribly wrong.
Bad: Starlight not seeing that she is using mind control on the ponies, I know she technically acknowledges it and it provides for some good comedy moments, but a reformed character having to use brainwashing to to prevent failure is just absurd. I just felt like the line “I probably shouldn’t be doing this,” should have been in there somewhere.
Gripe: So close to being great, but has that one thing that bothers me.

2.14 The Last Roundup- Definitely buy it on iTunes
Good: It is funny. Nothing is really bad here. AJ is sympathizable and was not out of character. Also Applebloom at the beginning, yeah. There is much entertaining value in it.
Best Moment: Rarity threatening RD at the very end.
Bad: Mayor Mare. Pinkie Pie is a little to psychotic at parts. It’s predictable.
Gripe: The Derpy Hooves censorship was stupid and insulting to Tabitha St. Germain. Cheesy lines.

1.4 Applebuck Season- Buy it on iTunes
Good: Applejack's developing character. Applejack is a hard working pony and fits her character here perfectly as she'll keep working on a task until it's finished even if it drives her to exhaustion, which is actually pretty well used in comedic situations.
Best Moments: "Eeyup." - Big Mac. Applejack's misinterpretations of what Twilight is saying.
Bad: Applejack refusing Twilight felt repetitive. Pinkie Pie's obliviousness to Applejack adding in the wrong ingredients, how do you miss that?
Gripe: Sick ponies and "baked bads." To an extent it felt like it went too far in addressing Applejack's need for sleep. However, this didn't really bother me, but I did feel like it needed to be addressed.

7.07 Parental Glidance- Buy it on itunes
Good: Continuity. Scootaloo telling Rainbow Dash that she doesn’t have parents like her. It seems that Rainbow is loyal to her parents despite the fact that they are annoying and embarrassing her. The Wonderbolts aren’t complete jerks here for once.
Best moment: The sound effect door
Bad: Scootaloo’s screaming! Scootaloo getting mad at Rainbow felt like a complete sudden 180.

4.5 Flight to the Finish- Buy it on iTunes
Good: The first CMC song where they all are individually singing and it is awesome. The freeze frame joke. Silver Spoon has some funny dialogue. Great conversion between Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo.
Bad: The pacing isn’t too good. Unfortunately this episode I wanted more out of it and I didn’t get it, plus it doesn’t really feel that special to me. I just can’t give it my two top ratings, but I still believe it deserves this rating and it is fair.
Gripe: AJ and Rarity are absent in this episode.

3.3 Too Many Pinkie Pies- Buy it on iTunes
Good: RD or AJ being mature and not persuading Pinkie’s decision. The clones have mental differences, which is unique for a cloning story. Polsky’s comedy is at his best. Pinkie breaking the laws of physics is funny. Breaking a cliche, with Pinkie doubting that even she is the real Pinkie. The G3 reference is hilarious. Good ending and moral.
Best Moments: The G3 reference, “fun, fun, fun,” “mine, mine, mine.”
Bad: Why is AJ not questioning why there’s 50 Pinkie Pie’s running around? Why was there a secret compartment is Twilight’s library, this isn’t Scooby Doo. The Pinkie that’s giving the paint idea, which I’m still pretty sure is the real one would have the advantage, so if she just clearly demonstrated that she is the real Pinkie by that suggestion and her moping around Twilight could’ve just talked to her and ask her question only the real Pinkie would know, it’s convoluted. Twilight has no hesitation in sending what could be her real friend away forever. Plot holes.

4.1-4.2 Princess Twilight Sparkle- Buy it on iTunes
Good: Immediately addressing continuity. All the characters feel relevant and the personalities still feel right. The animation is still fantastic and it feels like it’s getting only better and better. Discord still feels like Discord. Celestia crying on banishing her sister, ok fine I’ll give one to Twilight crying for her despite not being able to interfere. Yes the voice acting is great here. Touching moments are here and very frequent. This episode is the second best Season opener, however I still think that The Return of Harmony was a lot better.
Best Moments: Confetti in the mail, Spike’s fainting.
Bad: For a season opener it feels underwhelming. Pinkie briefly acting like a child. The potion that Zecora conveniently has. The whole external central conflict was caused by a bag of seeds Discord dropped, really a big of possessed seeds from Discord?! I’m sorry, but that makes the villain a weed.. RD is inconsiderate at parts. Look I know the argument of “this is more of an internal conflict than an external one,” would be a thing that someone would say about this episode. However, the problem here is that the external conflict is the whole reason the internal one is happening!

Good: It’s an animation marvel. This is NOT a Luna sob story. At places where the dialogue isn’t bad the episode doesn’t feel like it’s great. Pretty much everything for a visual standpoint is outstanding and the top notch voice acting adds to the visuals greatly.
Best Moment: The end fight.
Bad: Scott Sonneborn’s script is not good. How has this not happened sooner? Slightly rushed moral and resolution.
Gripe: Scott Sonneborn wrote it, I wanted it to be someone else.

6.19 The Fault In Our Cutie Marks- Buy it on itunes
Good: Ed Valentine returns to top form. The CMC are as good in this episode as they were in Crusaders Of The Lost Mark. Gabby is interesting, but comes off as too perfect in some perspectives. There are some touching moments that this episode pulls off. Gabby doesn’t get a cutie mark, when it is a bad cliche that could've happened.
Best Moments: Twilight’s excitement, and the song.
Bad: I didn’t like the fact that Gabby could do all of this things she did in the montage sequence, it’s like they took away a character flaw that really could have improved her character. The “fake” cutie mark is completely unconvincing.
This episode suffers from the same problem I had with Flight to the Finish, I wanted more out of it and I didn’t get it, plus it doesn’t really feel that special to me. I just can’t give it my two top ratings, but I still believe it deserves this rating and it is fair.

5.05 Tanks for the Memories- Buy it on itunes
Good: This is the first episode in awhile where I actually sympathized with Rainbow Dash in some part, the last time being Read It And Weep a Season 2 episode also written by Cindy Morrow. Unlike May The Best Pet Win, there actually feels like a genuine connection between RD and Tank, which is fantastic here because it makes all of the crying in the end not feel like it’s giving away the *beep* Spongebob moral “I guess crying, does solve all problems.” Also the voice acting here feels top notch.
Best Moment: “Do I look angry?!” -Rainbow Dash
Bad: RD’s actions were completely stupid and she almost killed herself. Don’t you think she should’ve gotten punished for messing with public property, seriously you overly punish the CMC twice and three times for Applebloom, but you let RD get off scot free, that annoys me.
Gripe: AJ says she cries on the inside, but doesn’t really cry on the inside; *cough* two episodes later! Cindy Morrow’s only post Season 3 episode.

6.17- Dungeons and Discords- Buy it on itunes
Good: Discord is still funny. The creativity of really actually playing DD is imported here directly from Gravity Falls. I love Fluttershy in this episode.
Best Moments: Discord morphing into Celestia, alternate Fluttershy, and Fluttershy’s eyebrow raise.
Bad: Discord shocking Spike and Big Mac, yeah it’s not funny. I kind of wanted a little more Mane 6. The DD here feels kind of average, like it’s trying to be special but just isn’t.

2.4 Luna Eclipsed- Buy it on iTunes
Good: Luna trying to fit in and change for good is well handled. Really good dialogue. Seeing Luna having fun is great. Viewers sympathize with Luna. I like Applejack willingness to forgive Luna, despite being startled by seeing her. Moral makes up for Pinkie’s behavior. Luna zapping RD back.
Best Moment: Luna’s voice lesson w/ Fluttershy
Bad: Pinkie Pie being quick to be afraid of Princess Luna, then saying the screaming was for having fun and not acknowledging that Princess Luna was hurt by it. The cancelling nightmare nights forever thing is stupid.
Gripe: Rarity isn’t in this episode for some reason. I don’t care for Pipsqueak, not in this episode. The Mayor’s costume is ugly. There’s really no need to have Zecora in this episode.

Good: This episode has some fun moments. This episode did NOT piss me off. There is some good in the episode and I honestly didn’t find this episode to be too boring or not entertaining.
Best Moments: The haunted maze, the scared expressions on the ponies face.
Bad: Fluttershy scaring the jelly out of her friends in kind of unbelievable. Her character kind of felt reset in the beginning. The humor is mere hit or miss. The pacing in the first ⅔ of the episode is really bad.
Gripe: In some retrospects, it’s sadly not as good as Luna Eclipsed.

Good: Rarity’s dress and Twilight’s response. Spike showing clear regret for his actions.
Best Moment: Rarity’s blinding dress. Fluttershy learns a great moral, you have got to be cruel to be kind.
Bad: Why are the Breezies procrastinating from going home, despite that there is a great chance that they won’t be able to get back in time before the portal closes. Yeah there is a stupid joke involving Fluttershy in a bee costume. Twilight basically pulls a spell that can turn her and her friends into breezies out of her ass, there was no indication of her knowing anything about the breezies prior to this episode, but it is really only second of two problems with this episode.
Gripe: A lot of people seem to dislike this episode.

Good: Twilight actually being recognized as a Princess. The self aware joke is very funny. Getting to see Cadance interacting with Discord. The song is unique to say the least, it also comes with so very creative visuals. Yeah the plant fight scene is awesome.
Best Moment: The visuals in the song.
Bad: The blue-flu doesn’t make much sense, I know it’s Discord but what. The balloon makes Pinkie act stupid, it happens more than once. AJ and Rarity get sick from Discord only for it to wear off the next time they appear on screen; that makes no sense, are you telling me that the blu-flu is a sickness that can be controlled. Also I don’t like seeing others characters getting sick from others if it’s totally out of control, yes this is completely different from Applebuck Season because it was Pinkie’s decision to eat the worm cookies, here AJ and Rarity get sick very briefly which is unbelieveable I know it’s a cartoon but if you are going to make characters sick for a short period of time, explain how the illness works. The pacing. Discord faking being sick, to get Rarity and AJ sick, to only get sick for real a few minutes later; yeah there shouldn’t be this much problems in continuity.
Gripe: John De Lancie sounds out of breath while singing.

4.15 Twilight Time- Buy it on iTunes
Good: The CMC’s fantasies are funny and how Sweetie Belle is taken out of it is very funny. The CMC acknowledging Twilight’s princess status, yes it always feels good to be appreciated. Twilight scolding Diamond Tiara.
Best Moments: The hayburger scene, and the exploding Apple.
Bad: Cutting out the first scene of watching the CMC practice with Twilight and Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon watching; you’re basically cutting out possible character development for them. The CMC messed up in front of the kids on purpose, because the plot says so. Unfortunately this episode falls into the same territory as Flight to the Finish, I wanted more out of it and I didn’t get it. I just can’t give it my two top ratings, but I still believe it deserves this rating and it is fair.

Good: It's enjoyable, Pinkie Pie is at her best and shows that she actually cares about the wellbeing of her friends. RD and Pinkie Pie know when to stop their pranking and not hurt Fluttershy’s feelings.
Best Moments: Anytime Pinkie Pie is with Rainbow Dash.
Bad: Twilight being oblivious to Gilda acting ill and despicable. Gilda making Fluttershy cry was painful.

Good: The dialogue between Applejack and Rainbow is great, especially considering it's Ashleigh Ball talking to herself. Pinkie Pie and Spike are great as the commenters in the background. Good moral.
Best Moment: "I'm sure to win now." - Rainbow Dash
Bad: Twilight is somewhat forced into the story, in a sense that she's there to teach AJ and RD their lesson, a necessity because it's Season 1 and has to report a friendship lesson to Celestia. The cheaters never win cliche.

4.14 Filli Vanilli- Buy it on iTunes
Good: Andrea Libman’s singing in this episode is the best in the entire show, and it’s the most beautiful. Also props to Kazumi Evans. The facial animation is great. I love Fluttershy’s character and her growth in this episode. Fluttershy’s isn’t given the reset button and everyone except Pinkie understands her personal space. The music is really good. The love of performing and the fear of doing it for Fluttershy was greatly executed, you know whenever Pinkie wasn’t on screen. AJ has a great joke. The moral is fantastic. Fluttershy is a fantastic singer for real.
Best Moment: Fluttershy shaking it to the first song.
Bad: Pinkie Pie, Pinkie Pie, PINKIE PIE!!! Pretty much anytime Pinkie is on screen, I wanted to punch her in the face. This is one of her worse appearances in the entire series, and this episode reinforces why she and Rainbow Dash are my least favorite of the Mane 6 and the most overrated main characters in the entire show. Pinkie comes of her as mean spirited and it pisses me off. I wanted to give this episode my best rating, but I hate to drop it down two spots just because of Pinkie Pie and the fact that she doesn’t get punished at all.
Gripe: This is the first time I’ve ever seen a voice actress be amazing and the thing to ruin the same episode ever. Bridle Gossip being referenced.

3.6 Sleepless in Ponyville- Worth buying on itunes
Good: Sweetie Belle inviting Rarity is done is funny fashion (no pun intended). We are actually at the campsite; a funny moment for Applejack. Continuity and it’s used for comedic purposes. Rarity and Applejack are acting like adults. The moral is good.
Best Moments: Rarity’s blushing, Sweetie Belle singing
Bad: Scootaloo nearly killing herself. If RD didn’t come along at the last second she would’ve died. RD yelling at Scootaloo, because it don’t sound like scolded to me as much as it felt like yelling.
Gripe: Neck and head only animation.

Best Moment: When Rarity is about to snap.

Gripe: Twilight’s appearance isn’t significant.

5.01-5.02 The Cutie Map- Buy it on itunes
Good: There are funny comedic moments that hit hard. Pinkie Pie giving an angry look to and upsetting Fluttershy didn’t feel inconsiderate. A bunch of new colorful characters are introduced. Starlight Glimmer is an interesting villain, because she is the most psychologically challenging villain there is. Pinkie Pie about to throw up from eating all the muffins. It is very entertaining despite, its logical inconsistencies and flaws, which are more noticeable than you think.
Best Moment: “Quiet!” -Starlight Glimmer
Bad: The princess of magic being defeated by a two-faced character, who has just been introduced; because anybody can take down the smart experienced pony. Parts of the episode felt very bland. Really the problems don’t arise until the second part, and that when Starlight Glimmer takes away their Cutie Marks. First of all, they were apparently physically weaken when they were taken away and it felt inconsistent, also don’t you think Twilight should contact Princess Celestia or anyone she knows to stop Starlight, I mean you could have all just snuck out of the jail cottage when Starlight was sleeping I’m pretty sure none of the other ponies would have stopped you, in fact they might not be looking either. Parts of the episode made me cringe.
Gripe: I’m reminded of Magic Duel a little bit. I don’t like the song, as I found it quite off putting and it made me cringe (I’m sorry but I’m telling the truth.)

At first glance, the ponies of this village seem happy, but when the Mane Six investigate further, they realize that the village leader Starlight Glimmer has a sinister view of friendship and individuality.8 stars.

7.02 All Bottled Up- Buy it on itunes
Good: Twilight’s idea of bonding with friends. Escape rooms for MLP is cannon! The animation of Starlight’s anger. Spike the previous episode reference master. Now this is how you do zombie ponies. It’s funny where the map table got teleporting. Anyone song is used in breaking the fourth wall.
Best Moments: Starlight yelling. Bulk Biceps rage.
Bad: Trixie, she doesn’t know how things work does she. You are not helping Starlight Trixie, you’re just making things worse! I don’t care about the A plot as much as the B plot. I really hate Trixie in this episode. - 2010–202022mTV-Y7.2 (340)TV EpisodeDirectorDenny LuMike MyhreJim MillerStarsAshleigh BallAndrea LibmanJay BrazeauAfter discovering that the author of her favorite book series is retiring, Rainbow Dash has Pinkie Pie go on a quest to see if Daring Do is truly done with adventuring.8 stars
7.18 Daring Done- Buy it on itunes
Good: Rainbow Dash actually being loyal to AK Yearling. Nice to see that this episode takes notes from the fact that superheroes like in the Marvel Cinematic Universe cause destruction and that there are consequences.
Best Moment: Cursing implication.
Bad: The plot of this episode could have benefited if Ahuizotl was in it. It is the weakest Daring Do episode, because of its predictable plot and cliched it is.
Gripe: No Ahuizotl. - 2010–202022mTV-Y6.8 (380)TV EpisodeDirectorDenny LuTim StubyJim MillerStarsAndrea LibmanNicole OliverMackenzie GrayFluttershy is determined to make her career dreams come true with the help of some very special ponies. 7.05 Fluttershy Leans In- Buy it on itunes
Good: G.M Berrow doesn’t subject Fluttershy’s character to the reset button. An episode that does Putting Your Hoof Down right, and bring justice to Fluttershy; all it took was a new writer (one that came into MLP writing comics for it). Nice to see Big Daddy McColt not spend a whole episode arguing with someone.
Bad: The three ponies in denial, and not called out for it. People don’t change if they can’t break out of being in denial, I know it’s not the point of the episode and they’re just background characters, but it’s not something that should be forgotten about. Really you didn't think to wait for Fluttershy to be completely finished Dr. Fuana.

6.06 No Second Prances- Buy it on itunes
Good: Starlight is actually trying to good something good for Twilight. The humor in this episode is very good.
Best Moment: Big Mac talking.
Bad: Twilight spying on Starlight and Trixie saying that she wins slightly devolve their character progressions. Cliched elements.
Gripe: Celestia has no lines. - DirectorDenny LuTim StubyJim MillerStarsAshleigh BallTara StrongRhona ReesTwilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash are called to the Wonderbolt Academy by the Cutie Map to help academy hopefuls Sky Stinger and Vapor Trail with a friendship problem.8 stars.
6.24 Top Bolt- Buy it on iTunes
Good: The best map episode of season 6. I like the friendship between the two new characters. The best map episode since The Lost Treasure Of Griffonstone, funny how both of those are RD ones. The main characters didn’t push the conflict forward in a cliched way.
Best Moment: The facial expressions of Twilight and RD.
Bad: Spitfire is still unlikable. Parts of Newbie Dash carrying over into this episode.
Gripe:

5.17 Brotherhooves Social- Buy it on itunes
Good: The ending saves this whole episode. It is actually a solid follow-up to Made in Manehattan though I liked it more. It managed to pull off some funny moments in the beginning.
Best Moment: The last 4 minutes of the episode.
Bad: The rest of the episode leading up to the ending doesn’t compare to it. Aside from the last 4 minutes of the episode I liked Made in Manehattan more, I would think that this is an unpopular opinion. Big Mac causing Applebloom to be disqualified just irked me.
Gripes: It’s not as good as the episode it’s connecting to. I wanted to like the Orchid Blossom schtick, but I didn’t.

3.1-3.2 The Crystal Empire- Buy it on iTunes
Good: Twilight’s treehouse jumping in the air; Twilight going nuts. The song is ok. The intensity is back, despite it being in the form of a black ghost cloud. The interactions between Rarity and RD, plus RD high hoofing AJ is funny and I like it. Pinkie’s funny. It’s nice to hear all the Mane 6 sing again. King Sombra’s door scene is great. Actually getting to see a villain vaporized and killed. Self sacrifice, good moral that was well executed.
Best Moment:
Bad: Pointless foreshadowing. The tone is all over the place. Unfortunately the most emotional part of the episode with King Sombra’s door is not followed up or expanded upon, making the viewer feel empty like there was something missing. You can’t have something emotionally compelling and shove it into the background of the episode. Everyone would’ve been enslaved had it not been for Spike’s existence. So, this episode is unfortunately not better than the Return of Harmony.
Gripe: It feels like a mixed bag. So many questions. Couldn’t the black crystals be removed off Shining Armor’s horn?
