Worst 10 Legend of Korra Episodes
I'm not one of those people who hate on Legend of Korra - not even Book 2. In fact, I think LoK as a whole is very nearly on par with Avatar - only let down by having slightly less interesting characters, a few bumps and relapses in the character development and the fact that its darker, more mature tone makes mistakes harder to overlook. However, like Avatar, some LoK episodes are just not up to scratch. Here are my ten least favourite.

- DirectorMichael Dante DiMartinoStarsJanet VarneyDavid FaustinoP.J. ByrneMako, Korra, Varrick and Bolin reminisce on past events. This is a clip show. That is all.
Also, it's Nickelodeon's fault, in case you were wondering. - DirectorJoaquim Dos SantosKi Hyun RyuStarsJanet VarneyDavid FaustinoP.J. ByrneAs Asami steals Mako's heart, Korra struggles to express her feelings for Mako and also at the same time Bolin tries to win Korra's heart by being brave enough to ask Korra to go out with him. The tension gets higher as the Pro bending tournament starts.Love triangle. 'Nuff said.
But seriously, this episode, in addition to introducing my least favourite aspect of the series as a whole (the stupid teenage drama), slows the pacing of the story down, feels really out of place and jarring (it comes after a particularly dark and heavy episode and basically ignores what just happened), and gives us too much pro bending (unlike others, I don't hate the pro-bending, but I do think it would have been better if we'd gotten just a little less of it).
I blame shippers for the love triangle/rectangle/whatever. If it hadn't been for fangirls obsessively shipping characters in Avatar, I doubt Bryke would have decided that teenage romance/drama was a good thing to focus on.
/rant over - DirectorColin HeckStarsJanet VarneyDavid FaustinoP.J. ByrneWhen the President of the United Republic refuses to help Korra, she decides to take matters into her own hands.More of Korra acting like a jerk, completely ignoring the great character development in Book 1.
Unfortunately, unlike the earlier episodes in this season, we don't have a lot of spirits, good fight scenes and funny jokes to balance it out.
On the bright side, we get to see more of Varrick being Varrick. - DirectorIan GrahamStarsJanet VarneyDavid FaustinoP.J. ByrneWhen Triad activity threatens to put Future Industries out of business, Mako performs an investigation and discovers a much bigger conspiracy. Now it's Lin's turn to get hit with the stupid stick. I understand she has a short fuse, but this episode turned one of the best characters in the show into a cranky, incompetent and idiotic side character.
Plus, the love triangle once again rears its ugly head.
At least there's no Korra idiocy in this episode (on account of her not being in it until the last minute or so). - DirectorColin HeckStarsJanet VarneyDavid FaustinoP.J. ByrneWhile tensions flare between the Northern and Southern Water Tribes, Korra struggles to remain neutral.Just... really slow. With Aang's grown children acting like immature teenagers and Korra not realising her obviously evil uncle is obviously evil, this episode basically serves as a waiting game.
- DirectorColin HeckStarsJanet VarneyDavid FaustinoP.J. ByrneKorra returns to Republic City and Team Avatar faces their first mission together in three years when Prince Wu goes missing. Bolin and Varrick are on the lam. This episode was a big... nothing. Instead of seeing Korra deal with the consequences of her shameful loss to Kuvira, we get more of Prince Wu. Fantastic.
It also annoys me because the writers try to very poorly foreshadow Korrasami, which is possibly my most hated pairing in the show, despite them working well as friends. - DirectorIan GrahamStarsJanet VarneyDavid FaustinoP.J. ByrneWhen Korra's parents are wrongfully arrested, Korra fights for their freedom. It's not a waiting game anymore but the payoff simply isn't there. Korra could easily stomp Unalaq and stand him down - that's what the Avatar's job is, after all. But for some reason she decides to flee. This is combined with the fact that she's still just annoying to watch.
- DirectorColin HeckStarsJanet VarneyJ.K. SimmonsKiernan ShipkaThe airbender children, Jinora, Ikki and Meelo, head out to find the Avatar. Meanwhile, Toph teaches Korra to let go of the past.Meelo is great only in very small doses and Ikki is good in even smaller doses. This episode gives us way too much of both, as well as being incredibly slow. Korra has some good moments in this episode but her development starts to get a little convoluted at this point.
- DirectorJoaquim Dos SantosKi Hyun RyuStarsJanet VarneyDavid FaustinoP.J. ByrneKorra suspects that an ally is working with the Equalists.Once again the momentum built up by the previous episode is lost. This episode is extremely slow, even if it does have some good moments towards the end. Hiroshi's plan also doesn't make a lot of sense.
- DirectorIan GrahamStarsJanet VarneyDavid FaustinoP.J. ByrneKorra discovers a way she may be able to defeat the ultimate dark spirit and save the world. This is the most excruciatingly blatant use of deus ex machina in the Avatar franchise (and that's saying a lot). We have a giant Godzilla battle we never asked for and Korra wins by... magic, I guess? On top of that it's a total mishandling of the whole concept of a Dark Avatar (seriously, the whole point of an Avatar is to bend all four elements).
