My Best to Worst Bond rankings
I've been watching the Bond series since I was 3 back in the 80's. I'm sure not everyone will agree with my listings, it's just my opinion as my choices havn't changed much. I do see something good or memorable in all these films, either a character, or piece of music. I will admit my bottom 3 choices really had nothing memorable enough for me to complement on. I also have a couple ties. So here we go.

- DirectorJohn GlenStarsRoger MooreChristopher WalkenTanya RobertsThe recovery of a microchip from the body of a fellow British secret agent leads James Bond to a mad industrialist scheming to cause massive destruction. This film is either loved or hated. I for one have always loved it. I think it's one of the most under rated in the series. Roger Moore was always my favorite Bond and to me this was a good swan song. It had the best villain (Christopher Walken)someone who can truly play a psycho. Grace Jones was very striking and memorable. The musical score was amazing, favorite scene is when Bond carries Stacey down the fire ladder from the roof of City Hall, and Dance in to the fire, instrumentally plays, also enjoy the police chase with the fire truck. Also showed that Bond could cook, and be a handyman with reconnecting the phone, and a true gentleman, he tucks Stacey in bed and sleeps in a chair, Connery never would have done that... I will admit Stacey's character is a bit screamy at times, not all her fault also the writers. She does prove to be helpful in the scenes of driving the truck, and snooping at the mine. If your on the fence with this one watch it again and compare it to DAD, or TWINE,NSNA. 5/5
- DirectorJohn GlenStarsRoger MooreCarole BouquetTopolSecret service agent James Bond is assigned to find a missing British vessel equipped with a weapons encryption device and prevent it from falling into enemy hands. This one for me was just as great as AVTAK. Very enjoyable from start to finish, It took Moore as Bond to finally dispose of Blofeld. Conti's score was great to bad he wasn't composer on couple more, probably the best music for the gun barrel sequence in the series and Melina was probably the best Moore era bond girl since Anya in TSWLM. 5/5
- DirectorJohn GlenStarsTimothy DaltonRobert DaviCarey LowellA vengeful James Bond goes rogue to infiltrate and take down the organization of a drug lord who has murdered his friend's new wife and left him near death.Best Dalton portrayal. I really liked the darker side of the character. Timothy was ahead of his time. I was 5 when this came out and thought the scenes with the wheeling Kenworth were so cool. It was too bad Dalton didn't get a chance for a 3rd movie. Good fun start to finish. I would have to say Sanchez is one of my top 3 villains between Zorin and Scaramanga. 5/5
- DirectorSam MendesStarsDaniel CraigJavier BardemNaomie HarrisJames Bond's loyalty to M is tested when her past comes back to haunt her. When MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.Best of the Craig era so far. I was so glad when they got a new composer. Never much cared for what David Arnold brought to the series. Really liked the exchanges shared between Craig and Dench in this one especially the scenes with the DB5, and she complains about the car, and Bond flips the shift knob and she says" Go ahead and eject me then". Also the best title sequence of opening credits since AVTAK. Hoping Spectre is just as good. 5/5
- DirectorGuy HamiltonStarsSean ConneryGert FröbeHonor BlackmanWhile investigating a gold magnate's smuggling, James Bond uncovers a plot to contaminate the Fort Knox gold reserve. My favorite of the Connery era. I know AVTAK is a remake of this one, but to me Goldfinger wasn't as evil. He seemed more like a fat uncle. This one is a great popcorn flick for a saturday afternoon, and also had good soundtrack. I wish some of the others from this era were as memorable. 5/5
- DirectorLewis GilbertStarsRoger MooreBarbara BachCurd JürgensJames Bond investigates the hijacking of British and Russian submarines carrying nuclear warheads, with the help of a K.G.B. agent whose lover he killed. The first one where Moore nailed it perfectly and hit his stride as to how he would portray Bond. He and Barbara Bach had very good chemistry in this film, and I enjoyed the line exchange in the van scene in Egypt. "can you play any other tune", "Why don't you try reverse, that's backwards" While Anya was over revving and grinding gears. First appearance of Jaws, and Stromberg was a good villain. It was supposed to be Blofeld. Excellent song by Carly Simon, and score from Hamlisch. 5/5
- DirectorPeter R. HuntStarsGeorge LazenbyDiana RiggTelly SavalasBritish agent James Bond goes undercover to pursue the villainous Ernst Stavro Blofeld, who is planning to hold the world to ransom.A lot of people panned this one over the years. I had always loved the musical score in it, and enjoyed Telly as Blofeld. Took me a while to accept Lazenby as a good Bond, for this being his 1st film I think he did good, maybe should have done Diamonds Are Forever too. Memorable and touching ending in which Bond cries. 5/5
- DirectorJohn GlenStarsRoger MooreMaud AdamsLouis JourdanA fake Fabergé egg recovered from the body of a fellow agent leads James Bond to uncover a jewel smuggling operation led by the mysterious Octopussy, and a plot to blow up a NATO air base.A good film start to finish, I enjoy that Q had more of a presence as a field agent in this one. The only thing that has always bothered my was the tarzan call as Bond swung on the vines bit too silly. Enjoyed seeing Moore dressed as a clown, the only time a clown didn't creep me out.Orelov/Khan good villains, and a good song from Coolidge. 5/5
- DirectorJohn GlenStarsTimothy DaltonMaryam d'AboJeroen KrabbéJames Bond is sent to investigate a KGB policy to kill all enemy spies, and uncovers an arms deal that potentially has major global ramifications.I would tie this one with Octopussy as they feel similar to me. Right down to the same musical cues in the gun barrel. Dalton's 1st portrayal is good, and if made few yrs earlier could have been good with Moore as well. Last Bond film for Barry, good title song from A-ha. 5/5
- DirectorGuy HamiltonStarsRoger MooreChristopher LeeBritt EklandJames Bond is targeted by the world's most expensive assassin, while he attempts to recover sensitive solar cell technology that is being sold to the highest bidder.Christopher Lee was a great Bond villain, and had good exchanges with Moore. Also loved the humourous scenes between Sheriff Pepper and Moore. Not sure why the Sheriff would be checking out AMC cars in Asia, but don't think about that. The score wasn't very memorable in this one. Mary Goodnight was a ditsy bond girl. 5/5
- DirectorGuy HamiltonStarsRoger MooreYaphet KottoJane SeymourJames Bond is sent to stop a diabolically brilliant heroin magnate armed with a complex organisation and a reliable psychic tarot card reader.Good first attempt by Moore when compared to Diamonds are Forever. Enjoyed the character of Teehee, and the addition of Sheriff Pepper. Great sound track and title song. The ending with Kananga was a bit goofy.m 5/5
- DirectorMarc ForsterStarsDaniel CraigOlga KurylenkoMathieu AmalricJames Bond descends into mystery as he tries to stop a mysterious organisation from eliminating a country's most valuable resource.I liked the out for revenge story line in this one. It was hated by many but not sure why. It isn't your traditional Bond film but many of the elements are there. There is also a classic scene from past film re-created. Greene was a decent villain so was General Madrano. The real downfall to this one was they should have had the gun barrel at the beginning and the title song sounded more like a karokee performance. Still though 5/5
- DirectorRoger SpottiswoodeStarsPierce BrosnanJonathan PryceMichelle YeohJames Bond sets out to stop a media mogul's plan to induce war between China and the UK in order to obtain exclusive global media coverage.I know most would say Goldeneye is Brosnan's best. I found this one to be more memorable and a bit more in the traditional style of Bond films. Musical score was better primarily the K.D Lang song. I enjoyed campness of Carver. 5/5
- DirectorLewis GilbertStarsRoger MooreLois ChilesMichael LonsdaleJames Bond investigates the mid-air theft of a space shuttle, and discovers a plot to commit global genocide.Despite having Moore in it. I find this one a bit lack luster compared to his others. Drax is dull, and nothing really memorable from the musical score. Jaws makes a return which is the saving grace for this one and a few good one liners from Moore. Chiles is a good Bond girl, nice locations and a couple funny but ridiculous scenes for a Bond film. 4/5
- DirectorMartin CampbellStarsDaniel CraigEva GreenJudi DenchAfter earning 00 status and a licence to kill, secret agent James Bond sets out on his first mission as 007. Bond must defeat a private banker funding terrorists in a high-stakes game of poker at Casino Royale, Montenegro. If this were made in 91 would have been great for Dalton. Was a good first attempt by Craig whom I already prefer to Brosnan. Good song from Cornell. Not sure what they were thinking Wright as Felix Leiter, David Hedison was the only really good Felix. The poker scenes drag a bit if that's not your thing. Eva Green was great as Vesper. 3.5/5
- DirectorSam MendesStarsDaniel CraigChristoph WaltzLéa SeydouxA cryptic message from James Bond's past sends him on a trail to uncover the existence of a sinister organisation named SPECTRE. With a new threat dawning, Bond learns the terrible truth about the author of all his pain in his most recent missions. After watching it I'm not sure. It seems like they decided to just make a Bond film since it had been 4 yrs, rather than trying to top any previous Bond films. Really enjoyed Waltz as Blofeld. I've heard some negativity about the song. I for one enjoyed it, I payed closer attention to the lyrics rather than the cues this time. I was disappointed that in the trailer they use a cue from OHMSS which had great music, but didn't use it in the film. None of the music from Newman was memorable or outstanding.Interesting how the writers turned to Goldmember for the plot twist. 3.5/5
- DirectorTerence YoungStarsSean ConneryUrsula AndressBernard LeeA resourceful British government agent seeks answers in a case involving the disappearance of a colleague and the disruption of the American space program.Very first Bond movie is good fun. Connery setting the tone of the Bond character of the 60's. 3.5/5
- DirectorGuy HamiltonStarsSean ConneryJill St. JohnCharles GrayA diamond smuggling investigation leads James Bond to Las Vegas where he uncovers an evil plot involving a rich business tycoon.Very campy. I think it may have been better if Lazenby came back to wrap up OHMSS. Connery kinda slept walked through this one. Notice he does not shoot a gun at all aside for the gun barrel sequence. Interesting addition of Wint and Kidd as assassins whom were a gay couple. Charles Gray not as memorable as Telly as Blofeld. St.John terrible bond girl, but still better than Richards. Still a fun flick for a rainy evening. 3.5/5
- DirectorLewis GilbertStarsSean ConneryAkiko WakabayashiMie HamaJames Bond and the Japanese Secret Service must find and stop the true culprit of a series of space hijackings, before war is provoked between Russia and the United States. This one has a few dull spots mid way, and Connery can't pull off looking Japanese. I did enjoy the decoy death, and the musical score was quite good. 3.5/5
- DirectorMartin CampbellStarsPierce BrosnanSean BeanIzabella ScorupcoYears after a friend and fellow 00 agent is killed on a joint mission, a secret space based weapons program known as "GoldenEye" is stolen. James Bond is assigned to stop a Russian crime syndicate from using the weapon. This one is tied with DAF,YOLT. Good first attempt by Brosnan, and Bean was a delightful villain. I may have enjoyed this more with Dalton as Bond. When I see Brosnan I still think of Remington Steele. 3.5/5
- DirectorTerence YoungStarsSean ConneryRobert ShawLotte LenyaJames Bond willingly falls into an assassination plot involving a naive Russian beauty in order to retrieve a Soviet encryption device that was stolen by S.P.E.C.T.R.E.I know many loved this one. I did enjoy Robert Shaw as Spectre Agent Grant, but each time I have tried to watch it I have fallen asleep part way, or I fast forward in parts that don't hold my attention. 3/5
- DirectorTerence YoungStarsSean ConneryClaudine AugerAdolfo CeliJames Bond heads to the Bahamas to recover two nuclear warheads stolen by S.P.E.C.T.R.E. Agent Emilio Largo in an international extortion scheme. Some of the underwater scenes move too slowly, and Ceili isn't that great a villain. Score not the greatest, decent song from Jones though. The pre-credit sequence is quite good and some scenes at the clinic. 2.5/5
- DirectorLee TamahoriStarsPierce BrosnanHalle BerryRosamund PikeJames Bond is sent to investigate the connection between a North Korean terrorist and a diamond mogul, who is funding the development of an international space weapon. As Grace Jones once said "What's there to say". Very outlandish verging on stupid at times. Worst swan song bond film for an actor. It had potential in the start but came apart quickly. 2/5
- DirectorIrvin KershnerStarsSean ConneryKim BasingerKlaus Maria BrandauerA S.P.E.C.T.R.E. agent has stolen two American nuclear warheads, and James Bond must find their targets before they are detonated.Re-make of Thunderball. It wasn't a true bond film as it wasn't done by MGM, or contained any cast members of the era. Worst M, Moneypenny, Q, and Felix. Terrible song as well. Was kinda funny seeing Mr.Bean playing a snooty government assistant. 2/5
- DirectorMichael AptedStarsPierce BrosnanSophie MarceauRobert CarlyleJames Bond uncovers a nuclear plot while protecting an oil heiress from her former kidnapper, an international terrorist who can't feel pain.Last film to feature the real Q. Denise Richards may have been hot but that was it. Couldn't act worth *beep* Good song by Garbage. 2/5
