Florida Westerns, also know as the Cracker Westerns are period Westerns set in early 1800s Florida, when the area was a fledgling territory far from the established centers of a growing United States.
This unique Western subgenre incorporates most of the traditional Western themes and archetypes (including frontier living, pioneers, indians, rugged individualism and others) just 50-100 years sooner and thousands of miles more east than moviegoers associate with a traditional time-framed and located Western.
