- StarsHwang Jeong-eumPark Seo-joonKo Jun-heeWhen Ji Sung-Joon was young, he was ugly. As he grew up, he began to have an attractive appearance. When Kim Hye-Jin was young, she was pretty. As she grew up, she became ugly. Ji Sung-Joon tries to find his first love.I decided to watch this one after seeing a facebook preview video. Loved the chemistry between the main leads and Si Won Choi really shines as the second male lead. The last filler episodes were unnecessary for me as nothing much happens apart from underlining their happily ever after, would have given it 9/10 if it hadn't been stretched. Overall a great introduction into the world of k-drama.
- StarsJi SungHwang Jeong-eumPark Seo-joonA love story between the son from a wealthy family who has 7 personalities Cha Do Hyun (Ji Sung) and Oh Ri Jin (Hwang Jung Eum) who becomes his secret psychiatrist.Note: Story involves mental disease.
I watched this one next as it had the same excellent female lead as 'She was Pretty' and Seo-joon Park in a supporting role. No regrets! Excellent story, the leads have good chemistry and while no doubt unrealistic, still an interesting portrayal of multiple personality disorder. Male lead Seong Ji is absolutely fantastic. - StarsKong Hyo-jinSo Ji-seobSeo In-GukTae Gong Sil has the ability to see ghosts, but their constant demands for help make her life impossible until she meets Joo Jong Won, a handsome CEO who measures everything by money, since when she touches him, the ghosts disappear.Looking for a supernatural k-drama, I started to watch this one. Instantly fell in love with male lead Ji-seob So. The way she latches on to him and his responses are just pure gold. Oof, just Oof. Loved this one!
- StarsPark Min-YoungPark Seo-joonLee Tae-HwanA romance between perfect but narcissistic second generation heir and his capable assistant.Watched another one with Seo-joon Park as male lead. Excellent chemistry between the leads, loved female lead Min-Young Park. She's absolutely gorgeous, funny, witty. Pretty light watch, not too heavy on the drama.
- StarsSong Seung-heonGo AraLee ElA man possessed by death. A woman who can see death. The earthly and the afterworld collide dangerously.I was looking into watching Goblin, but I wasn't sure my heart could take it yet so i watched this one instead. The whole seeing grim reapers and foreseeing death concept looked interesting to me. I didn't fall completely in love with female Lead Ara-Go. Definitely not as strong as Master's Sun but very enjoyable.
- StarsChae RimChoi SiwonHyun-Woo LeeSeries Outline: Sung Min Woo is the top male star in Korea due to his good looks and singing talent. Ambitious, he moved into TV dramas which he helps with his star power and hinders with his terrible acting. He also has an exploitative, unethical manager. Yoon Gae Hwa is a housewife divorced from a rich husband who needs to earn enough money to keep her daughter in her custody while her ex-husband's new wife doesn't want the daughter of a previous wife around. Gae Hwa's sole prior work experience is 6 months as a reporter for a weekly scandal rag. Her first jobs shown in the series are unsuccessful but include 1 day as housekeeper for Sung Min Woo where a babysitting emergency forces her to leave early, infuriating Sung Min Woo. Shortly afterwards, she finds another job at a musical production company, learns a secret about Sung Min Woo, and convinces him to work on the agency's musical, and becomes Min Woo's handler for that agency as it prepares to put on a musical starring Min Woo (if he ever improves as an actor). Handling Min Woo is no easy task due to their mutual antagonism, spurred by Min Woo's immaturity. Min Woo grows up as he faces the challenges of caring for his unexpected 5-year-old daughter Ye Eun, the result of an affair several years earlier, and by Gae Hwa's example in caring for the otherwise unprotected Ye Eun. Min Woo gains maturity very quickly as he learns to accept and love his daughter and becomes something unexpected - a good actor. The romance also ends satisfyingly - but I'm not telling that part of the ending.Wanted to see Si Won Choi as the main lead, as he was so excellent in 'She was Pretty' and it made me feel bad he didn't get the girl in the end. This one didn't have ratings as high as the previous ones I watched but I chanced it anyways. It really doesn't stand out. Mousy female lead is somewhat refreshing, but nothing noteworthy about this series over all. Watching Choi is never really a chore but it's hard to like the character he plays, especially in the first few episodes. Shame, it really doesn't show off his range or appeal much at all.
- StarsPark Bo-youngJo Jung-SukLim Ju-hwanTimid Na Bong Sun gets possessed by the ghost of a confident young woman who seeks to solve her one unfinished business by hooking up with Bong Sun's boss, famous chef Kang Sun Woo.What can I say, I like ghost stories. I also like cooking! This one delivered. I was a little worried they might mess up with the intimate scenes during possessions, as i was anticipating being disturbed by lack of attention to the concept of consent but they handled that pretty well overall. Seul-gi Kim was great in the role of the ghost girl, you get really invested in her story. Chemistry between main leads is also good.
- StarsKang Ji-hwanYoon Eun-hyeSung JunJealous when her friend steals and marries her first love, a woman lies that she too is married. The lie ensnares a hotel president who goes along with the lie for his own reasons. Will the lie become reality?Picked this one up out of a 'must-watch' k-drama list on the internet somewhere. It took me a bit to feel attraction to the male lead, and to get really invested in the show took a good few episodes but after that it was an interesting watch. Flimsy plot. Chemistry between leads is pretty good, with a noteworthy kissing scene for k-drama standards. Overall, not bad, not great.
- StarsSo Ji-seobShin Min-aJung Gyu-woonA lawyer in her thirties coming out of a long relationship decides to regain her figure and health after meeting a renowned personal trainer who obsesses with leading a healthy lifestyle after suffering a serious injury in his childhood.Ji-seob So, be still my beating heart. Not a huge fan of Min-a Shin though can't put my finger on why. Still, their chemistry is good and the story is quite funny and sweet.
- StarsHwang Jeong-eumJi SungBae Soo-binThe story revolves around four people, who live with secrets, and the trials they face on their journey to find love and exact revenge.Looked up for female lead Jeong-eum Hwang, and male lead Seong Ji. Same pairing as in 'Kill me, Heal me'. And wow. Just wow, what a story. Tears! Worst villain ever, simply because you can understand the reasons behind his actions, from his perspective. Your heart will break over and over for the female lead. Recommended a thousand times over.
- StarsAhn Bo-hyunPark Jin-jooKim Bo-raA romantic comedy about a talented gallery curator named Sung Duk Mi, who is an idol fan-girl underneath her professional veneer. Meanwhile, her boss Ryan becomes a passionate fan-boy of her. This one was just so cute. Female lead Min-Young Park is so easy on the eyes and the chemistry with Jae-wook Kim is amazing. The kissing scenes are scorching! Jung Je-Won is also super cute, can understand why he'd attract such a fanbase. Pretty light watch, not heavy on drama. Definitely recommended.
- StarsLee Dong-wookLee Sang-wooSon Sung-yoonA romance between a lawyer and a top actress, whose life goes downhill after becoming caught up in a scandal with a third generation chaebol. She fakes her position to become the lawyer's secretary in order to star in a famous writer's drama.Lee Dong-wook! Wow, what a gorgeous hunk of man. Very cute series, I like office romance series and loved the chemistry between the two leads. Very binge-worthy.
- StarsJun Ji-hyunKim Soo-hyunPark Hae-jinDo Min-Joon, an alien that came to our planet 400 years ago, will be able to return to his planet in 3 months, but when he meets famous actress Chun Song-Yi, all the centuries he spent distancing himself from humans come to an end.Yeees, aliens. Took me a while to start on this one because the male lead looked so boy-ish to me. I changed my mind pretty quickly while watching though. Excellent performance by both leads. Ji-hyun Jun leaves an impression from the second she arrives on screen. Loved the Josean era flashbacks, the back and forth really worked for me. Very interesting story and the ending delivered if you ignore the somewhat questionable scientific explanation. Bit of a tear jerker towards the end.
- StarsJun Ji-hyunLee Min-hoLee Hee-joonA mermaid from the Joseon period ends up in present-day Seoul, where she crosses paths with a swindler who may have ties to someone from her past.Another one with Ji-hyun Jun in the lead, this time she's the supernatural being. I think the best parts of this series are while the Josean era past lives fate entwined story-line is still revealing itself. It's such a beautiful story! Once that's concluded it just gets pretty straight laced, not a bad thing per say but it's something I missed in the last episodes.
Male lead Min-Ho Lee is definitely a new favorite, it's just a joy to look at him. I didn't enjoy this one as much as 'You who came from the stars' but it was definitely a good watch. - StarsYeon Woo-jinGong Seung-yeonBak YoonThe quiet life of an extreme introvert is thrown upside down when his company hires a cheery and outgoing new employee who's not all she seems.Alright, I liked the concept for this one, but it took quite a few eps for it to pick up speed and then falls into an unnecessarily stretched out string of drama until the last episode. While the chemistry was good between leads, the pairing wasn't outstanding.
I was leaning towards rating this a 7. The story is flimsy and I wish they would have given the male lead more time to plow through the attraction in his more awkward phase, as that to me were the most appealing parts of this drama. All in all not a bad drama, but not quite what I expected to see. - StarsHan GrooYeon Woo-jinJeong Jin-woonBefore Joo Jang Mi can propose to her boyfriend, he has his best friend, Gong Gi Tae, help him break up with her. Meanwhile, Gi Tae is eager to remain single, but as his family insists he marries, he proposes a fake engagement to Jang Min.Good uncomplicated fun. Didn't know it had the same male lead as 'Introverted Boss' when I started watching this. Very nice to see him show large acting range between both roles. This drama was miles better though. No large or unbelievable dramatic plot twists, just family dynamics and antics with the leads slowly getting to know one another. I can't name a thing i disliked about this one.
- StarsJo Jung-SukKong Hyo-jinGo Kyung-pyoGetting ahead in a broadcasting station is tough and the competition is fierce -- but when a news anchor and meteorologist start to fall for each other, things get much more complicated.Note: Story involves physical disease.
It's Jung-suk Jo, oh no. This man is too hot for his own good. Depicts the ultimate love triangle, with difficulties and choices not everyone might find believable. Main leads have great chemistry and the passionate kisses would leave me with a pit in my stomach. Character Lee Hwa-shin is incredibly charismatic and interesting and his struggles believable and relate-able. This drama will deliver plenty of angst, frustration and is a tearjerker at times. Definitely one of my favorites. - StarsJang HyukJang Na-raChoi Jin-hyukA touching Korean drama filled with comedy about a girl who finds happiness, friendship and love in the most unexpected way!Note: Story involves physical disease.
If your first impression of the male lead is that he's too extreme and dramatic, stick with it. What I found really interesting was that his environment clearly responds to all the strange behavior he exhibits, but gradually come to accept it once they get to know his character, often in unison with the watcher. It shows the male lead is athletically skilled as his clumsy dives and tumbles are masterfully controlled. The acting is downright phenomenal. Unfortunately the intimate scenes weren't amazing, otherwise this would have gotten 10/10. - StarsHan Jung-hyunZo In-sungSong Hye-kyoA man who was led to a life of a con artist who preys on rich women meets the sole heir to a fortune who is a blind woman.Note: Story involves disability.
Very heartwarming tale. Chemistry between leads strong. Ending took a bit of an unnecessary detour, nonetheless a very strong drama about the importance of family, forgiveness and redemption. Very sweet love story. Must watch. - StarsKim Young-kwangJin Ki-jooKoo Ja-sungAfter Do Min Ik, a competent director, loses his ability to recognise faces, he becomes dependent on Jung Gal Hee, his secretary, and eventually develops feelings for her.Note: Story involves physical disease.
Much like 'her private life', this one was sweet and heartwarming. Light on drama. Chemistry between leads very strong. Secondary leads also very cute and it was refreshing they weren't in a typical love triangle, rather than just having their own love story. - StarsLee Seung-giCha Seung-wonOh Yeon-SeoIn 2017, Son Oh Gong and Ma Wang are in conflict with each other and they look for a true light in a dark world where evils exists everywhere.I just finished this one and i'm not really ready to talk about it yet. Judge by the rating I'd say (would have been a 10 if not for the shoddy CGI). I figure i'm so rattled I might as well watch Goblin next.
I will say this is the first drama where I'd like to see a second season, as i'm emotionally invested in all the characters, it has a setup that could easily be extended and it might leave me with an ending not so heart-wrenchingly emotional. - StarsGong YooKim Go-eunLee Dong-wookIn his quest for a bride to break his immortal curse, Dokkaebi, a 939-year-old guardian of souls, meets a grim reaper and a sprightly student with a tragic past. There, I finally watched it. Incredible acting. I had some issues getting on board with the main pairing due to the age difference, then episode 13 and up hit me like a freight train. Wow. What a beautiful story. Don't put this one off like I did.
- StarsGong YooYoon Eun-hyeLee Sun-kyunA tomboy, mistaken for a lad, maintains the deception for the sake of employment. The situation becomes complicated when her male boss begins to develop feelings for this "boy."This is a great 'against the odds' unconventional love story. Fantastic performances allround, great chemistry, compelling plot. Deserves to be on every 'must watch' list.
- StarsKong Hyo-jinLee Sun-kyunLee Hanee"Pasta" is an unconventional love story that revolves around the kitchen of an Italian restaurant, La Sfera. Why did they make me wait so long for a proper kiss! Eurghhh. The food made me stupid hungry.
It's good, more Sun-kyun Lee as male lead please. Hyo-Jin Kong is always a winner. - StarsSung Dong-ilLee Kwang-sooJin KyungA love story between a psychiatrist named Ji Hae Soo and an author who had schizophrenia named Jang Jae Yeol.Note: Story involves mental disease.
Great story, chemistry, acting. Definitely no lack of intimacy in this one. Wow. I love both these actors, this was a great watch. - StarsHan Hyo-jooLee Jong-sukLee Tae-HwanAfter being pulled into the webtoon world created by her father, a surgical resident gets entangled in a murder mystery involving the story's hero.Original concept, good chemistry between leads, beautiful artwork. I felt the story began to drag around episode 12-14. It would have been better if they hadn't relied on the same two antagonists making countless comeback moves. Nonetheless, the ending was very satisfying. I'd rate this one at 7/8, worth watching.
- CreatorIm In-SeuStarsTaecyeonKim So-hyunLee Da-witHyun Ji is a 19-year-old wandering ghost. One day she meets an exorcist named Bong Pal. They team up to listen to and solve the problems of various ghosts so that they can rest peacefully.Yes! Ghost fighting, comedy, romance. Good pacing and chemistry, predictable but very watchable. As a sidenote: I love Ki-Young Kang in a supporting role, he's so funny.
- StarsYoo In-naKong Hyo-jinCha Seung-wonGu Ae-Jeong, a wash out idol, meets famous actor Dokgo-Jin by chance. Off to a bad start, a series of rumors makes them get involved in each other's careers and boosts Ae-Jeong's popularity enough to participate in a match making show.Ep13 is a great example of seeing crap rolling downhill fast, knowing it won't be resolved for another ep or two, which in k-drama land is the length of a full feature film so you can't help but go 'NooooOOOoo'. Damn you Hong sisters, you did it again. Nice to see Seung-won Cha as the main lead. The little cameo by Seung-Gi was awesome, having watched A Korean Odyssey.
- StarsLee Min-JungJoo Sang-ukKim Gyu-riAe-Ra is broke and seeks revenge after learning that her ex-husband Jung-Woo, whose business struggled during their marriage, has now made a fortune.Loved the spunky lead actress. Very straightforward and satisfying second chance romance story. Drags a bit in it's resolve in the last two episodes, otherwise excellent.
- DirectorJo Byung-SukShin Jae HoShin Jai-HoStarsKim Jae-wonHa Ji-WonJin Tae-hyunA cute, poor, Korean high school senior's dumped by her boyfriend so she kicks a beer can hitting a handsome driver, who "crashes" his convertible. He insists on 3M won/USD3000 in damages. She can work it off over 100 days. Comedy follows.MOVIE.
Entertaining and cute but a bit rushed. Maybe I've just been spoiled by all the series. - DirectorHeo In-mooStarsKwon Sang-wooHa Ji-WonKim In-kwonKyu-sik is a seminary student, who one day falls during a church service, dropping a precious, pope-blessed relic. As punishment, he and his comic relief friend Seon-dal are sent away to a small church in rural Korea to work in a sort of 'priest limbo' until they get their act together. Upon his arrival, Kyu-sik ends up in an awkward position with a groggy Bong-hee, a pretty girl who just flew in from America to visit her uncle-the priest of the rural church. However, Bong-hee's true reason for coming is to see her beloved boyfriend, but things don't go terribly smoothly and she is stuck in the church without a way home. Of course, all while she and Kyu-sik are slowly testing each other's nerves. Hate soon amounts to affection and the film gradually moves from playfully mean situations to the cute fuzzy ones banking on Kwon Sang-woo's and Ha Ji-won's endearing chemistry.MOVIE.
Again, entertaining but not great. Would have liked to see more buildup before the resolve. - DirectorYou-Jeong JangStarsLim Soo-jungGong YooRyu Seung-suGi-joon starts an agency that helps people locate their long-lost first loves and Ji-woo becomes his first client. She is dragged there by her worried father, Captain SEO, who learns that she's still hung up on Kim Jung-wook, a man she fell in love with on her trip to India in her early 20s. To identify the face of Ji-woo's long-lost first love, the two travel all around the country and come face-to-face with a smörgåsbord of Kim Jong-wooks. After days on end of little success in their search, the agency receives a single fateful phone call: an inquiry from none other than Kim Jong-wook himself, hoping to find Jin-woo through Gi-joon's agency. Gi-joon tells Ji-woo the good news but, having realized his feelings for her, Gi-joon turns and runs back to Ji-woo.MOVIE.
Ahh Gong Yoo, what a doofus. A sweet love story. - StarsGong YooKong Hyo-jinChoi Yeo-jinRomance between a high school student and his home teacher.Very cute. I loved it.
- StarsJo Sung-haKim Hee-wonJung Hye-youngHuman/were-fox half-breed Choi Kang Chi discovers the truth about his origins and searches for the mystical Gu Family Book, which holds the secret to becoming fully human.Stopped watching at episode 4/5. Not sure why? Might return to it later.
- StarsJoo Sang-ukHan Ye-seulJung Gyu-woonOverweight, kind-hearted Sa Geum-ran (Ha Jae-sook) married into a well-to-do family.Stopped watching at episode 10, drags out the story a LOT. It's a shame because I thought this one was incredibly cute. Not sure if/when i'll finish it.
- StarsDilraba DilmuratYilun ShengSierra LeeLi Huizhen (Dilraba Dilmurat) was a beauty in her younger years, but years of hardship on her family has taken a toll on her physical appearance. Her childhood friend Bai Haoyu (Yilun Sheng) experiences a reverse fortune and his dapper good looks in adulthood is an outward manifestation of his prosperity later in life.First chinese one in the list! So technically it doesn't belong here, but this one is a remake of 'she was pretty', which was my first kdrama. It's really nice, i'd say better pacing than the korean original, casting is solid though Yilun Sheng comes off a bit stiff and expressionless. Definitely recommended though.
- CreatorMan GuStarsYang YangShuang ZhengDenny HuangA story of two popular college students who fell in love through an online game.I watched this one in-between finishing Hotel del Luna and I LOVED it. I actually watched the movie right after and am also reading the fan translated novel they were based on. The series is miles better than the movie, though compared to the book, the intimate scenes were WAY played down. The female lead was also an incredibly passive participant, which was a shame. Right up my alley otherwise though, being a gamer myself I could relate to a LOT of this. This gets a 9. Almost gave it a 10, but the kissing, whyyyy. If you watch this series and like it, read the novel. You won't regret it.
- DirectorTianyu ZhaoStarsAngelababyBoran JingYu BaiA college stud tries to level up his relationship with a computer science major after becoming attracted to her skills in an online role-playing game.So after watching the series I went straight to the movie. Some people said to prefer it but I really don't. I have no problem with the leads but the story is completely disjointed by the speed they're trying to tell it at and all the details they omitted. For me, this one isn't even worth it for the cheap thrill of experiencing the story when I don't have time to rewatch the entire series, because it just does not deliver the feels or tells the story well enough. Regretfully, not recommended.
- StarsIUYeo Jin-gooShin Jeong-geunWhen he's invited to manage a hotel for dead souls, an elite hotelier gets to know the establishment's ancient owner and her strange world.Yeah so this one was recommended to me by my Korean friend and i hate him a little bit right now because I cried a lot. Beautiful story, love the blend of genre's. Great performance from the leads, good chemistry though not as much intimacy as I would have liked. Bit of an open ending, which I've not seen often in k-dramas.
I'd recommend this one though it's a bit of a heavy watch emotionally so you'd have to be in the mood for it. I took a break around episode 10 and watched lighter stuff in-between, then later binged the rest in one day. - StarsSung HoonKim Jae-kyungThe lives of a humble veterinarian and a rich CEO collide after an unfortunate event.Yes low budget, acting not suberb but plenty feels for this sweet, light watch. I really liked the pairing, good chemistry! It's a quick watch as well with 20x15 minute episodes. I enjoy this format a lot more than a feature length movie.
This one's actually getting an 8 from me because it delivers plenty for the time investment it represents. I'll be checking out main lead Sung Hoon some more! - StarsBaroKang ByeolDanny AhnAhn Dan Te is the ace director of Yoo Seong CRC, a company specializing in restructuring. He is a true "cold city man" of this era with a poker face that doesn't express emotions, perfect workmanship, and cold-blooded harshness. Shin Yeon Hwa is the chief development officer of the dying game company Joy Buster, who teams up with Ahn Dan Te. She will start to develop a new game to satisfy him, but they will end up quarreling, creating a lovable comedy for the viewers. The drama between cold Ahn Dan Te and passionate Shin Yeon Hwa will double the excitement by stirring up an odd chemistry.A romantic tale in the game industry. I liked the pairing but there's very little romantic buildup, or rather, it's very subtly implied and peppered through the series with a rather abrupt resolve in the last 5 minutes of the series. I'd have liked to see them have a bit more sexual tension.
- StarsSong Ji-eunSung HoonKim Jae-youngJin-wook and Yoo-mi meet at a Gangwon-do resort and get caught up in a series of misunderstandings and accidents.Omg this was so precious. I am now firmly in love with Sung Hoon. Only 13 episodes but it was great. Whoooo. Ahh. Ok so one thing... female lead could have been more into it? It's a common theme though.
- StarsLee Jong-sukPark Shin-hyeKim Young-kwangA young boy, whose life and family has been destroyed by new media, gets adopted by a family in a rural area after being found lost at sea. He conceals his past for 13 years. But then the girl he loves, a reporter, finds out the truth.
