- DirectorPeter HowittStarsRowan AtkinsonJohn MalkovichNatalie ImbrugliaAfter a sudden attack on MI7, Johnny English, Britain's most confident, yet unintelligent spy, becomes Britain's only spy.Rating: 71.5%
A childhood favourite of mine. Nothing too spectacular, nor revolutionary, but a quality family film that I feel justifies the label of a sleeper-hit. - DirectorOliver ParkerStarsRowan AtkinsonRosamund PikeDominic WestJohnny English goes up against international assassins hunting down Chinese Premier Xiang Ping.Rating: 71%
About as good as the last one. I think the good jokes land better but the bad ones fall flatter than in its predecessor. A worthy sequel - DirectorBarry LevinsonStarsRobert De NiroKevin BaconBrad PittAfter a prank goes disastrously wrong, a group of boys are sent to a detention center where they are brutalized. Thirteen years later, an unexpected random encounter with a former guard gives them a chance for revenge.Rating: 76%
Oozing with ambition, Sleepers is a surprisingly under-the-radar film that has some brilliant acting from De Niro, Pitt and Hoffman. It borrows a lot from Scorsese, but does so in a respectable and well-executed manner. Sadly, the 2nd and 3rd acts don't live up to the first, which is really a gem. There were also aspects of the film that were vastly under utilized, particularly De Niro's priest character. A quality film though, that has sadly been overlooked with the passage of time. - DirectorAtom EgoyanStarsArsinée KhanjianAshot AdamyanAtom EgoyanA woman stays in Armenia after her photographer husband completes his assignment and returns home to Canada.Rating: 83.5%
A one-of-a-kind experience that demonstrates an impressive understanding of storytelling through film. Also, as an immigrant that has spent the majority of my life in Canada as "the photographer", I find the themes of identity extremely engaging - DirectorOrson WellesStarsOrson WellesJoseph CottenDorothy ComingoreFollowing the death of publishing tycoon Charles Foster Kane, reporters scramble to uncover the meaning of his final utterance: 'Rosebud.'Rating: 100%

There's a reason why it's considered the best - DirectorBong Joon HoStarsSong Kang-hoLee Sun-kyunCho Yeo-jeongGreed and class discrimination threaten the newly formed symbiotic relationship between the wealthy Park family and the destitute Kim clan.Rating: 98%
While I'm hesitant to call this film generational-defining as some have, there is so much to pick here that it is overwhelming. The slow paced character shifts occurring in front of my eyes is one of the most fantastic slow-burn descents into madness, rivalling the Shining. The dissection of class struggle and the futile hunt for wealth is done masterfully and will only get more relevant with time. - DirectorGeorges MélièsStarsGeorges MélièsFernande AlbanyJehanne d'AlcyUsing every known means of transportation, several savants from the Geographic Society undertake a journey through the Alps to the Sun which finishes under the sea.Rating: NR
It's difficult to give thoughts on a film so old and fundamental to cinema, and impossible to put a rating onto it. It's enjoyable and a terrific representation of the elements of mise-en-scene - DirectorD.W. GriffithStarsWalter MillerLillian GishKate BruceA young couple struggle to get ahead, the wife always assuaging the troubles of her melancholy husband. One of the most challenging movies that somehow makes its dull moments embolden the film as a whole, and deconstructs the human existence simply through the camerawork. A fascinating watch I must return to on a clear mind. - DirectorRobert BressonStarsFrançois LeterrierCharles Le ClaincheMaurice BeerblockA captured French Resistance fighter during World War II engineers a daunting escape from a German prison in France.Rating: 96%

Murray AbrahamMathieu AmalricA writer encounters the owner of an aging high-class hotel, who tells him of his early years serving as a lobby boy in the hotel's glorious years under an exceptional concierge.Rating: 100%
It's remarkable how the film, upon repeated viewing, becomes less about the observing of a quaint and quirky distant world, but more about the reminiscing on a past we wish never left us. Incredibly boring with a few scenes as its saving grace. Wooden acting, nonsensical editing, wooden dialogue, ill-timed music, well-shot cinematography that is framed terribly. Why is this so revered? - DirectorNikita MikhalkovStarsNikita MikhalkovIngeborga DapkunaiteOleg MenshikovIn the USSR in 1936, shadows of Stalin's repressions fall on a famous, revolutionary hero.
