- DirectorJ.D. DillardStarsKiersey ClemonsEmory CohenHanna Mangan LawrenceA woman washes ashore a small uninhabited island after an accident. The situation turns from bad to worse when she realizes there is a mysterious creature hunting at night.Surprisingly effective bare bones survival/creature feature flick.
- DirectorRuben FleischerStarsTom HardyMichelle WilliamsRiz AhmedA failed reporter is bonded to an alien entity, one of many symbiotes who have invaded Earth. But the being takes a liking to Earth and decides to protect it.Better than I expected, though I'd wish they had gone for a more horror-centric approach instead of the anti-hero angle.
- DirectorDavid LynchStarsJack CruzDavid LynchToototabonIn a locked down train station, a homicide detective conducts an interview with a tormented monkey.
I... have literally no words.
Y'all know that game where you write a few lines on a piece of paper and then fold it down so only one word is visible and the next person has to continue from there without knowing what came before?
Like that, just as a 17-minute short. - DirectorKevin SmithStarsJoey Lauren AdamsBen AffleckFred ArmisenJay and Silent Bob inadvertently sign away their names and rights to the new Bluntman and Chronic movie. Now they head to Hollywood to stop the film from being made. Along the way Jay discovers that he is a father.Bonkers. Got very confused but in a fun way.
- DirectorRobert EggersStarsRobert PattinsonWillem DafoeValeriia KaramanTwo lighthouse keepers try to maintain their sanity while living on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s.Visually stunning, great acting, amazing sound design, but the story didn't do a whole lot for me.
- DirectorJ.C. ChandorStarsRobert RedfordAfter a collision with a shipping container at sea, a resourceful sailor finds himself, despite all efforts to the contrary, staring his mortality in the face.Okay little movie.
- DirectorAdam Egypt MortimerStarsMiles RobbinsPatrick SchwarzeneggerSasha LaneA troubled college freshman, Luke, suffers a violent family trauma. He then resurrects his charismatic childhood imaginary friend Daniel to help him cope, not realizing how dangerous Daniel is.Stylistically most of the film is like British kitchen sink realism, but is interspersed with bonkers visuals and scenes with colour schemes out of Argento's Suspiria.
There's a bit of fantasy elements in there, Hellraiser-esque sequences, touches of Lovecraft, a bit of mysticism, and some body-horror, all the while dealing with childhood trauma, schizophrenia, and - to some extent, I felt - toxic friendships.
Neither drama nor horror but a horrific drama.
Pulled me in from the very first minutes.
Also, it had been too long since I saw Mary Stuart Masterson in anything. - DirectorRodman FlenderStarsBrooke AdamsJeff HayengaJames KarenA couple struggling to conceive visit a miracle doctor as a last hope for having a child. The wife gets pregnant, but after the initial joy comes horror, as she slowly discovers the nightmarish truth behind the doctor's success.Fine for what it was. Seemed more like an early 80s movie than an early 90s.
- DirectorScott SpeerStarsBella ThorneRichard HarmonDermot MulroneySet ten years after an apocalyptic event that killed millions and left the world inhabited by ghosts. Not a masterpiece, but for a teen-sci-fi-mystery-thriller it wasn't too bad. A couple of dodgy effects and a cheesy ending, though.
- CreatorMichael SchurStarsKristen BellWilliam Jackson HarperJameela JamilFour people and their otherworldly frienemy struggle in the afterlife to define what it means to be good.Very funny and poignant.
- DirectorAlex SimmonsStarsDavid GiuntoliFlula BorgClaire CoffeeWhen a former child actor is dumped by his fiancé days before the wedding, his excitable German best man takes him on the honeymoon instead: a backcountry trek in the remote mountains of Oregon.Surprsingly good with a lot of funny dialogue.
- DirectorWilliam EubankStarsKristen StewartVincent CasselMamoudou AthieA crew of oceanic researchers working for a deep sea drilling company try to get to safety after a mysterious earthquake devastates their deepwater research and drilling facility located at the bottom of the Mariana Trench.Of course, it's basically an Alien clone, with The Abyss, Leviathan, and the like thrown in for good measure, but it was actually quite good. One of the better creature features I have seen in a while.
- DirectorDianna AgronPeter ChelsomClaus ClausenStarsKeira KnightleyHelen MirrenLuke WilsonLatest installment of the Cities of Love series (Paris, je t'aime / New York, I Love You / Rio, Eu Te Amo), this collective feature film is made of ten stories of romance set in the German capital.I really liked it. Not as good as the first in the "franchise", Paris, Je T'aime, but vastly better than New York, I Love You and Rio, I Love You. Don't understand the low score.
- CreatorTony BasgallopStarsLauren AmbroseToby KebbellNell Tiger FreeA Philadelphia couple are in mourning after an unspeakable tragedy creates a rift in their marriage and opens a door for a mysterious force to enter their home.Didn't know what to expect, but I was hooked from the start. It kept me guessing throughout, and especially Rupert Grint gave a powerhouse performance.
- DirectorDoron PazYoav PazStarsYael GrobglasYon TumarkinDanielle JadelynWhen a couple of American young adults fly to Israel to visit the city of Jerusalem, a biblical nightmare falls upon them.Hand-held horror in, well, Jerusalem.
I dug it, but you'd have to be a fan of the found footage-genre, I think. Mixed some religion and history into it, which I like, even though I'm atheist. - CreatorJason GeorgeStarsPauline EtienneLaurent CapellutoMehmet KurtulusWhen radiation from the sun causes a global disaster on Earth, survivors on an overnight flight from Brussels race from city to city trying to stay ahead of the sun's rays by remaining in the cover of night.I'm not quite sure the scientific aspect of it holds up, but screw that. It starts off with a bang and never lets go. Tense, no filler, edge of your seat-entertainment. At only 6 episodes with the longest being 40 minutes, you won't waste a whole lot of time.
- DirectorJohannes NyholmStarsLeif EdlundYlva GallonKatarina JacobsonAs a couple goes on a trip to find their way back to each other, a sideshow artist and his shady entourage emerge from the woods, terrorizing them, luring them deeper into a maelstrom of psychological terror and humiliating slapstick.It... kept me interested, but I don't think I understood one iota of it.
- DirectorAdam RobitelStarsTaylor RussellLogan MillerJay EllisSix strangers find themselves in a maze of deadly mystery rooms and must use their wits to survive.Fine, I guess, lots of fun visuals, but would have benefitted from less clichéd characters, and more than one semi-sympathetic character.
- DirectorBrandon ChristensenStarsChristie BurkeJesse MossRebecca OlsonMary, a new mother, gives birth to twins, but only one of them is alive. While taking care of her living child, Adam, she suspects that something, a supernatural entity, has chosen him and will stop at nothing to take him from her.A not too bad little horror movie. Nothing ground-breaking, but kept me interested.
- CreatorDavid KajganichMax BorensteinAlexander WooStarsJared HarrisDerek MioTobias MenziesSupernatural, semihistorical, horror anthology series, where each season is inspired by a different infamous or mysterious real life historical tragedy.Season 2. Much better than Season 1, maybe because the stakes this time were personal to the characters.
- DirectorK.C. BascombeStarsKevin ZegersJesse JamesRachel SkarstenTwelve year old Ryan Billings has been diagnosed with an acute fear of the dark. He spends each night lying awake in torment, waiting and watching as the evil in the darkness grows stronger, feeding off his fear. His older brother Dale, suspects that there is nothing wrong with Ryan and that this is just a ploy for more attention. Regardless, he promises to watch over his little brother as their parents head off to a party for the night. Outside a storm rages and when the power goes out, darkness envelops the house. Ryan knows that tonight the evil has finally come to claim him. Dale desperately tries everything to try and calm him down, until the horrors in the dark make him realize Ryan had good reason to be so afraid!Rewatch. Not a "good" movie, really silly, but kinda fun. Although, when you notice that 80% of the dialogue is about the same thing, only worded differently, your face gets a bit tired.
- DirectorMarc FafardStarsDonald SutherlandRodolfo CoriaIf it weren't for a series of cataclysmic events, a comet impact being first on the list, our planet could well still be the domain of dinosaurs. Following Pr Rodolfo Coria, a world-reknown Argentinian paleontologist, we visit sites of major discoveries he has contributed to in Patagonia and travel back in time to see these amazing beasts come to life in 3D. Patagonia has given us the largest living animal to ever walk the Earth: the titanesque plant-eating Argentinosaur, and its nemesis, the Giganotosaur, a bipedal carnivore that could easily challenge the famous T-Rex.
- DirectorChris SparlingStarsRya KihlstedtWilliam MapotherSharon MaughanWhen the US government attempts to weaponize the power of a possessed woman, they soon discover that there are forces that exist in this world that simply cannot be controlled.Another rewatch. Not scary, but an interesting story and well-made.
- DirectorBryan BertinoStarsZoe KazanElla BallentineAaron DouglasA mother and daughter must confront a terrifying monster when they break down on a deserted road.Boring-ass title, but it was actually quite good. It takes its time to let us get to know the characters, but it never drags. The first "big thing" happens around the halfway mark, but it still takes time to slow down. It's atmospheric, the music is never drowning out the action, and the actors, especially the girl, are actually really good.
Yes, its symbolism may be a little on the heavy side, but it's a tense 90 minutes nonetheless. - DirectorGeoffrey OrthweinAndrew SullivanStarsMaika MonroeMatt O'LearyArnar JónssonOn a romantic getaway to Iceland, a young American couple wake up one morning to discover every person on earth has disappeared.Weird little movie. I don't quite know what to think of it.
- DirectorNatalie Erika JamesStarsRobyn NevinEmily MortimerBella HeathcoteA daughter, mother and grandmother are haunted by a manifestation of dementia that consumes their family's home.More of a supernatural drama than outright horror, it is very atmospheric, and creepy in places. A slow-burn with a somewhat bonkers finale
- DirectorRuben FleischerStarsWoody HarrelsonJesse EisenbergEmma StoneColumbus, Tallahassee, Wichita, and Little Rock move to the American heartland as they face off against evolved zombies, fellow survivors, and the growing pains of the snarky makeshift family. Not as good as the first, but it still has its fair share of funny moments. I always love Emma Stone, and I also liked the new side-character, played by Zoey Deutch. She was hilariously annoying.
- CreatorGregg ArakiStarsAvan JogiaKelli BerglundBeau MirchoffWhile on quests to pursue love, sex, and fame with his friends in Los Angeles, Ulysses' premonitory dreams make him question the possible presence of a dark and monstrous conspiracy.Bonkers, silly, sci-fi-y, funny, surreal, and borderline pornographic. None of that is a complaint.
- DirectorLeigh WhannellStarsElisabeth MossOliver Jackson-CohenHarriet DyerWhen Cecilia's abusive ex takes his own life and leaves her his fortune, she suspects his death was a hoax. As a series of coincidences turn lethal, Cecilia works to prove that she is being hunted by someone nobody can see.Really, really good.
- CreatorTerry NationStarsLucy FlemingIan McCullochDenis LillA community of survivors struggle to stay alive in the wake of a global pandemic known as the Death that wiped out 99.98% of humanity.
- DirectorJohn G. AvildsenStarsRalph MacchioPat MoritaRobyn LivelyOstracised villain John Kreese attempts to gain revenge on Daniel and Miyagi, with the help of a Vietnam War comrade, the wealthy owner of a toxic waste disposal business. Not that interesting, sadly.
- CreatorZack StentzStarsPaul-Mikél WilliamsKausar MohammedRaini RodriguezSix teens attending an adventure camp on the opposite side of Isla Nublar must band together to survive when dinosaurs wreak havoc on the island.Cute and kinda fun, but yeah, very much a kids' show.
- DirectorRandal KleiserStarsRick MoranisMarcia StrassmanRobert OliveriThe Szalinski family is back, this time hilarious disaster strikes when an experiment causes their new toddler son to grow many stories tall.Watchable.
- DirectorDean CundeyStarsRick MoranisEve GordonBug HallThis time, the adults have shrunk themselves, and the kids need to fix it.Watchable.
- DirectorHideo NakataStarsElaiza IkedaTakashi TsukamotoHiroya ShimizuA group of people must find out how to stop the newborn deadly curse, which has born and gone viral after a Youtuber accidentally captured a vengeful ghost on camera. Not scary, but a good story.
- DirectorGilbert AdlerStarsDennis MillerErika EleniakAngie EverhartThe Crypt Keeper returns to tell the story of a funeral parlor that moonlights as a vampire bordello. It wasn’t good, but definitely not boring. Sleazy, low-brow, lame one-liners, but a hole lot of craptastic fun.
- DirectorStuart WalkerStarsHenry HullWarner OlandValerie HobsonAfter botanist Wilfred Glendon travels to Tibet in search of a rare flower, the Mariphasa, he returns to a London haunted by murders that can only be the work of bloodthirsty werewolves.Very melodramatric, even for 1935.
- DirectorCarl Theodor DreyerStarsJulian WestMaurice SchutzRena MandelA drifter obsessed with the supernatural stumbles upon an inn where a severely ill adolescent girl is slowly becoming a vampire.Though short, it dragged on a bit. Some of the visuals were creepy (like the disembodied shadows), and for the time there were some innovative effects.
- DirectorRoger CormanStarsJonathan HazeJackie JosephMel WellesA clumsy young man working at an impoverished flower shop discovers that the strange plant he has been nurturing has an insatiable appetite for blood, forcing him to kill to feed it.Silly and hilarious.
- DirectorDomenico de FeudisStarsRiccardo ScamarcioMía MaestroGiulia PatrignaniWhile visiting her fiancé's mother in southern Italy, a woman must fight the mysterious and malevolent curse intent on claiming her daughter.Loses a bit of steam towards the end, otherwise a fine, little chiller.
- DirectorMike FlanaganStarsVictoria PedrettiOliver Jackson-CohenAmelia EveA bright-eyed American au pair hopes to make a difference caring for two orphans in a grand English manor. Yet the feeling of dread is undeniable.Off to a good start.
- DirectorCiarán FoyStarsVictoria PedrettiOliver Jackson-CohenAmelia EveAfter experiencing a harrowing scare, Dani tries to teach the children a lesson. Still, the kids have an unsettling way of getting under one's skin.Off to a good start.
- CreatorMike FlanaganStarsVictoria PedrettiOliver Jackson-CohenAmelia EveAfter an au pair’s tragic death, Henry hires a young American nanny to care for his orphaned niece and nephew who reside at Bly Manor with the chef Owen, groundskeeper Jamie and housekeeper, Mrs. Grose.
Not AS good or “scary” as Hill House, but still a very watchable show. EP. 8 was heartbreaking.
My only gripe was the sometimes atrocious British accents. - DirectorGeorge MelfordStarsCarlos VillaríasLupita TovarBarry NortonCenturies-old vampire Dracula preys upon the innocent Eva and her friends.Lugosi was the better Dracula, but this movie is moodier and more in-depth.
- DirectorLambert HillyerStarsOtto KrugerGloria HoldenMarguerite ChurchillWhen Countess Marya Zaleska appears in London, mysterious events occur that lead Dr. Von Helsing to believe that the Countess must be a vampire.I enjoyed this a lot, at only 68 minutes I’d wish it were longer. Marguerite Churchill as Janet was a hoot.
- DirectorErle C. KentonStarsOnslow StevensJohn CarradineLon Chaney Jr.The Wolf Man and Count Dracula beg Dr. Edelman to cure them of their killing instincts but Dracula schemes to seduce the doctor's nurse.Weird hybrid of monster movies, a lesser effort.
- DirectorRobert SiodmakStarsLon Chaney Jr.Robert PaigeLouise AllbrittonWhen Katherine, a beautiful Southern girl obsessed with thoughts of eternal life, invites Count Alucard to come to her mansion in the U.S., she unleashes a Pandora's box of horror on unsuspecting relatives and neighbors.Another lesser effort. Trying to figure out the continuity of these old monster movies makes your head spin.
But extra points for finally having black characters in one of them. - DirectorBen YoungStarsMichael PeñaLizzy CaplanAmelia CrouchA father has a recurring dream of losing his family. His nightmare turns into reality when the planet is invaded by a force bent on destruction. Fighting for their lives, he comes to realize an unknown strength to keep them safe from harm.Okay little sci-fi thriller.
- DirectorDon Michael PaulStarsMichael GrossJon HederRichard BrakeWhen a group of hunters genetically modify Graboid eggs, they face an all-out war against the larger, terrifyingly intelligent Graboids, and the swiftly multiplying Shriekers.A lot of fun, may be one of the best in the franchise.
- DirectorAri AsterStarsBilly MayoBrandon GreenhouseAngela BullockA dark domestic-horror drama about the ties that bind--and the ties that really bind.Disturbing.
- DirectorJack ArnoldStarsJohn AgarLori NelsonJohn BromfieldMen capture the Creature from the Black Lagoon and make him an aquarium attraction, from which he escapes.Okay, but they didn't really have much of a story to fill 80 minutes.
- DirectorJarand HerdalStarsGitte WittThomas GullestadTuva Olivia RemmanIn the starving aftermath of a nuclear disaster, a family of three attends a charitable event at a hotel, which takes a dark turn when people start to disappear. The visuals and colour schemes were stunning. The story … interesting concept, but could have needed a little more work. Vibes of Saw and Hostel.
- DirectorSergio G. SánchezStarsGeorge MacKayAnya Taylor-JoyCharlie HeatonA young man and his three younger siblings, who have kept secret the death of their beloved mother in order to remain together, are plagued by a sinister presence in the sprawling manor in which they live.Had expected more horror or thrills, but still a fine, little movie.
- DirectorVincente DiSantiStarsThom MathewsVincent GuastaferroBryan Forrest3 months prior to the events of Never Hike Alone (2017) that follows the strange disappearance of Mark Hill, a Crystal Lake resident who went for a hike in the dead of winter and never came home.Okay, I guess. Almost ended before it got started.
- DirectorJad CharafStarsArthur LangFlorian FaureMatthieu BrugotCreated by ultra-fans of the horror-comedy franchise, this is a brand new story of Ghostface terrorizing an unsuspecting group of friends. Some neat ideas, nice production values, and a bunch of cute guys. Other than that, not all that great.

- StarsBill BarrettaDave GoelzEric JacobsonAs a brand-new Muppet series get ready for streaming, Scooter rushes to deliver the episodes -- navigating obstacles, distractions, and complications that the rest of the Muppet gang throws at him.Cute, but nowhere as good as the original series or the movies.

At a mysterious temple, she is hurled into a cross-timeline adventure. Will she make it back in time for Life Day?Just silly fun, miles better than the original Star Wars Holiday Special.

As they return to rescue one of their own, the players will have to brave parts unknown from arid deserts to snowy mountains, to escape the world's most dangerous game.Better than I expected. Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart do very impressive channellings of Danny DeVito and Danny Glover, respectively.

Now he must fight against all odds to try and race against the clock to save what is left of the human race before it's too late.Monsters galore. Bonkers, violent, grotesque, surreal. Some of the effects were a bit dodgy, but most of them are serviceable. Some creative creature designs. Got a bit confused at times. Some parts dragged on too long, it could have benefitted from being 6 or 7 episodes instead of 10, but overall it was a lot of fun.
