- DirectorBong Joon HoStarsSong Kang-hoLee Sun-kyunCho Yeo-jeongGreed and class discrimination threaten the newly-formed symbiotic relationship between the wealthy Park family and the destitute Kim clan. What a film, so unique and literally covered every genre. Couldn't take my eyes of screen (mostly because I needed to read the subs) and everyone was so good in this film and that third act was soo crazy and was unable to predict anything that was happening in this film. It really was the best film I have seen this year in year filled with some bangers of film. Really one of the best years for this entire decade.
- DirectorTaika WaititiStarsRoman Griffin DavisThomasin McKenzieScarlett JohanssonA young German boy in the Hitler Youth whose hero and imaginary friend is the country's dictator is shocked to discover that his mother is hiding a Jewish girl in their home.Such a funny and well written script about a sensitive subject that could of easily been seen as offensive, in my opinion this is one of the most underrated films of the year and I just love everything that Taika Waititi does and can't wait to see more from him.
- DirectorSam MendesStarsDean-Charles ChapmanGeorge MacKayDaniel MaysApril 6th, 1917. As an infantry battalion assembles to wage war deep in enemy territory, two soldiers are assigned to race against time and deliver a message that will stop 1,600 men from walking straight into a deadly trap.Pretty much a given win for best cinematography this year. So much talent was shown onscreen as well as off screen. I enjoyed every sequence in this film and sometimes I really wondered how difficult it was this film. Sam Mendes did a very excellent job directing and wouldn't be surprised if walked with best director or best picture.
- DirectorMartin ScorseseStarsRobert De NiroAl PacinoJoe PesciAn illustration of Frank Sheeran's life, from W.W.II veteran to hit-man for the Bufalino crime family and his alleged assassination of his close friend Jimmy Hoffa.I've always been a fan of mob movies and this movie was really right up my alley. Great performances from everyone and I would like to see Pacino get the Oscar but wouldn't be upset if Pesci won it in his place. It showed a different side to mob that and maybe be slow burning compared to Goodfellas, but was still great watch.
- DirectorRian JohnsonStarsDaniel CraigChris EvansAna de ArmasA detective investigates the death of the patriarch of an eccentric, combative family.Very Fun Whodunnit, good editing and great characters. Kept me on the edge of my seat
- DirectorNoah BaumbachStarsAdam DriverScarlett JohanssonJulia GreerNoah Baumbach's incisive and compassionate look at a marriage breaking up and a family staying together.Creative movie that doesn't paint either of these well written characters as ''bad'' person. Driver has earned my respect as an actor with the talent he showed on screen and Scar Jo absolutely crushed in this film and I would be surprised if she doesn't get the Oscar this year.
- DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsLeonardo DiCaprioBrad PittMargot RobbieA faded television actor and his stunt double strive to achieve fame and success in the final years of Hollywood's Golden Age in 1969 Los Angeles.Tarantino is back with another excellent screenplay and very good performances from everyone in the cast. The second act of this film is a little slow paced but everything else was such a blast to watch. The last thirty minutes was just so hilarious and was so happy to see classic Tarantino bloodshed.
- DirectorAnthony RussoJoe RussoStarsRobert Downey Jr.Chris EvansMark RuffaloAfter the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), the universe is in ruins. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers assemble once more in order to reverse Thanos' actions and restore balance to the universe. The end of the saga that was started more than a decade ago. Great end to Tony and Cap's character arc. Not a perfect film but it defiantly felt great to watch with one of the most satisfying third acts all year.
- DirectorChad StahelskiStarsKeanu ReevesHalle BerryIan McShaneJohn Wick is on the run after killing a member of the international assassins' guild, and with a $14 million price tag on his head, he is the target of hit men and women everywhere.Badass action sequences and an absolute great time to watch. Very creative kills and well choreographed action sequences. Can't wait for the next one.
- DirectorTodd PhillipsStarsJoaquin PhoenixRobert De NiroZazie BeetzDuring the 1980s, a failed stand-up comedian is driven insane and turns to a life of crime and chaos in Gotham City while becoming an infamous psychopathic crime figure.Great performance from Joaquin and almost guaranteed Oscar for best actor. It was a good thing that he was as good as he was because he the main driving force behind this film, everything else was just alright.
- DirectorMike FlanaganStarsEwan McGregorRebecca FergusonKyliegh CurranYears following the events of The Shining (1980), a now-adult Dan Torrance must protect a young girl with similar powers from a cult known as The True Knot, who prey on children with powers to remain immortal.Great sequel, I liked that we learned a lot more about the shine. Had a consistent tone through out and that third act was pretty much all fan service
- DirectorRobert EggersStarsRobert PattinsonWillem DafoeValeriia KaramanTwo lighthouse keepers try to maintain their sanity while living on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s.Some of the best cinematography all year with fantastic performances from both Pattinson and Dafoe. Eerie atmosphere with a story that has more than what is just on the surface
- DirectorSergio PablosCarlos Martínez LópezStarsJason SchwartzmanJ.K. SimmonsRashida JonesA simple act of kindness always sparks another, even in a frozen, faraway place. When Smeerensburg's new postman, Jesper, befriends toymaker Klaus, their gifts melt an age-old feud and deliver a sleigh full of holiday traditions.Fantastic Christmas movie with an original premise. Loved the art style and the color pallet used in this film.
- DirectorJon WattsStarsTom HollandSamuel L. JacksonJake GyllenhaalFollowing the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), Spider-Man must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever.Good ending to phase 3, great twist with the villain and was overall a fun time to watch. Really liked the relatable awkward teen relationship in this film.
- DirectorDavid F. SandbergStarsZachary LeviMark StrongAsher AngelA newly fostered young boy in search of his mother instead finds unexpected super powers and soon gains a powerful enemy.Fun DC movie, I really liked the kids in this movie DC still has a problem with making villains
- DirectorRuben FleischerStarsWoody HarrelsonJesse EisenbergEmma StoneColumbus, Tallahassee, Wichita, and Little Rock move to the American heartland as they face off against evolved zombies, fellow survivors, and the growing pains of the snarky makeshift family.Acceptable sequel, great laughs and not too habby actions sequences.
- DirectorJosh CooleyStarsTom HanksTim AllenAnnie PottsWhen a new toy called "Forky" joins Woody and the gang, a road trip alongside old and new friends reveals how big the world can be for a toy. Some of the best animation I've ever seen in a movie. Villain is lackluster and no real point to the film it concluded well in the third film.
- DirectorMatt Bettinelli-OlpinTyler GillettStarsSamara WeavingAdam BrodyMark O'BrienA bride's wedding night takes a sinister turn when her eccentric new in-laws force her to take part in a terrifying game.Original idea, fun kills, and great main character
- DirectorRob LettermanStarsRyan ReynoldsJustice SmithKathryn NewtonIn a world where people collect Pokémon to do battle, a boy comes across an intelligent talking Pikachu who seeks to be a detective.enjoyable, good Pokémon design. Nothing special and the acting wasn't that great and the story has plot who. But watchable.
- DirectorOlivia WildeStarsKaitlyn DeverBeanie FeldsteinJessica WilliamsOn the eve of their high-school graduation, two academic superstars and best friends realize they should have worked less and played more. Determined not to fall short of their peers, the girls try to cram four years of fun into one night.Superbad but with females, great cast of characters, kinda cringy at some points though
- DirectorDean DeBloisStarsJay BaruchelAmerica FerreraF. Murray AbrahamWhen Hiccup discovers Toothless isn't the only Night Fury, he must seek the Hidden World, a secret Dragon Utopia before a hired tyrant named Grimmel finds it first. Not bad, just not as good as the other two and the villain was weak.
- DirectorChris ButlerStarsHugh JackmanDavid WalliamsStephen FryMr. Link recruits explorer Sir Lionel Frost to help find his long-lost relatives in the fabled valley of Shangri-La. Along with adventurer Adelina Fortnight, this trio of explorers travel the world to help their new friend.Beautiful stop motion with some impressive scenes and camera movements. Story feels a little rushed and anticlimactic though. It got's some great dialogue and overall its not that bad
- DirectorAndy MuschiettiStarsJessica ChastainJames McAvoyBill HaderTwenty-seven years after their first encounter with the terrifying Pennywise, the Losers Club have grown up and moved away, until a devastating phone call brings them back.Kudos to the casting crew in this movie. However, there were no really good scares in this movie because there is just such a lack of tone. It doesn't know whether it wants to scare you or make you laugh. Which it did neither very well. Also it relied too much on some CGI mess of a monster because what else are you gonna spend all your money with a big budget
- DirectorChris BuckJennifer LeeStarsKristen BellIdina MenzelJosh GadAnna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven leave Arendelle to travel to an ancient, autumn-bound forest of an enchanted land. They set out to find the origin of Elsa's powers in order to save their kingdom.Didn't really have a purpose to exist.
- DirectorGuy RitchieStarsWill SmithMena MassoudNaomi ScottAladdin, a kind thief, woos Jasmine, the princess of Agrabah, with the help of Genie. When Jafar, the grand vizier, tries to usurp the king, Jasmine, Aladdin and Genie must stop him from succeeding. At least tried to do something different, still not very good though.
- DirectorThurop Van OrmanJohn RiceStarsJason SudeikisJosh GadLeslie JonesThe flightless birds and scheming green pigs take their feud to the next level.Trash
- DirectorMichael DoughertyStarsKyle ChandlerVera FarmigaMillie Bobby BrownThe crypto-zoological agency Monarch faces off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah.Too many people, shit story, and the monster fights weren't very well shot or choreographed. Fairly entertaining though.
- DirectorJon FavreauStarsDonald GloverBeyoncéSeth RogenAfter the murder of his father, a young lion prince flees his kingdom only to learn the true meaning of responsibility and bravery. An Absolute disgrace of a movie, did nothing different from the originals expect make every scene inferior to its animated counterpart
- DirectorMichael ChavesStarsLinda CardelliniRaymond CruzPatricia VelasquezIgnoring the eerie warning of a troubled mother suspected of child endangerment, a social worker and her own small kids are soon drawn into a frightening supernatural realm.Shit. I'd rather put a nail underneath my toenail and bang it against the door than watch this again.
