ARROW SEASON 8 RATINGS
Honestly this season was far from masterfull, but it definitely reminded us again and again why we have fallen in love with this show for 8 freaking years and mainly with its unique lead, Oliver Queen
The whole season was about paying tribute (and channelling our nostalgia) to the most crucial plots of the past seasons and building to the Crisis event (which was a little disappointing, but hugely entertaining) and the writers succeeded amazingly in both. There are literally tons of very enjoyable callbacks to the show's best moments and most of our beloved characters of the show's run make a return in some capacity. The Good thing of the season consisting of only 10 eps is that something important was always happening or was about to. I think we can all agree that the performances of the main cast (and most of the guests) were outstanding, especially of course Stephen Amell, who arguably gave his best performance in the entire show, I can't express enough how much respect I have for this man, I will certainly miss watching his version of Green Arrow in the future and even though I will be open-minded with other versions of the character, in my mind his will always be the definite one
I have to talk separately for the series finale. Aside from some mistakes, like too many characters being resurrected, Guggenheim made a brilliant job with the heartfelt moments, the goodbyes and the sendoffs. Most of the characters got perfect sendoffs, which for so many years we wished them to have. It was so emotional and chilling seeing all these people coming back in Star City to honor Ollie's legacy and having Felicity's return after a 9-episode absence was also brilliant. The best parts though were the flashbacks, who revealed the first time Ollie trusted someone since his return from Lian-Yu and the way this changed his view of his mission and of course the extremely moving and deserving final scene of the episode which will never fade from my mind
Unfortunately the grown up kids from the future are still around, the writers learned nothing from s.7's big failure in that department. The flashforwards in the season's beginning were even worse than s.7's, I hate these characters and when they have not the present cast to back them off, they are intolerable, especially Mia. And in a 10-episode season they shouldn't even bother with them when all they do is waste valuable time. The "Green Arrow & the Canaries" episode not only is by far the worst episode of the show, but also a huge insult to Ollie's legacy (God I wish they never make an actual show from it, Mia doesn't deserve at all to wear her father's costume)
Overall rating: 8.5/10
