Omar Sharif, the Egyptian actor best known for playing Sherif Ali in Lawrence of Arabia (1962) and the title role in Doctor Zhivago (1965), was born Michel Demitri Shalhoub on April 10, 1932 in Alexandria, Egypt to Joseph Shalhoub, a lumber merchant, and his wife, Claire (Saada). Of Lebanese and Syrian extraction, the young Michel was raised Catholic. He was educated at Victoria College in Alexandria and took a degree in mathematics and physics from Cairo University with a major. Afterward graduating from university, he entered the family lumber business.
Before making his English-language film debut with "Lawrence of Arabia", for which he earned a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award nomination and international fame, Sharif became a star in Egyptian cinema. His first movie was the Egyptian film The Blazing Sun (1954) ("The Blazing Sun") in 1953, opposite the renowned Egyptian actress Faten Hamamah whom he married in 1955. He converted to Islam to marry Hamama and took the name Omar al-Sharif. The couple had one child (Tarek Sharif, who was born in 1957 and portrayed the young Zhivago in the eponymous picture) and divorced in 1974. Sharif never remarried.
Beginning in the 1960s, Sharif earned a reputation as one of the world's best known contract bridge players. In the 1970s and 1980s, he co-wrote a syndicated newspaper bridge column for the Chicago Tribune. Sharif also wrote several books on bridge and has licensed his name to a bridge computer game, "Omar Sharif Bridge", which has been marketed since 1992. Sharif told the press in 2006 that he no longer played bridge, explaining, "I decided I didn't want to be a slave to any passion any more except for my work. I had too many passions, bridge, horses, gambling. I want to live a different kind of life, be with my family more because I didn't give them enough time.".
As an actor, Sharif had made a comeback in 2003 playing the title role of an elderly Muslim shopkeeper in the French film Monsieur Ibrahim (2003). For his performance, he won the Best Actor Award at the Venice Film Festival and the Best Actor César, France's equivalent of the Oscar, from the Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma.
Diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2012, Sharif died of a heart attack on July 10, 2015, in Cairo, Egypt.- Actress

Hsueh-Fang Chuang was born on 10 April 1932 in Fujian, China. She is an actress and producer, known for Long Shan Si zhi lian (1962), Re nu lang (1958) and Swordsman with an Umbrella (1970).- If you remember those sword and sandal spectacles that became the rage of Italian cinema during the late 1950s and early 1960s, then you will certainly recall this torrid brunet bombshell. Invariably cast as the ambitiously evil queen or undulating dancer/temptress whose soul mission was to entrance the film's hero, Chelo Alonso's "peplum princess" prime would be surprisingly brief but her memorable moves and over-the-top histrionics were reason enough to place her on the international sex symbol pedestal and earn her cult status. While her acting contributions would certainly attract no awards, she did earn the honor of becoming "Italian Cinema's Female Discovery" early in the game.
The darkly stunning Alonso was born Isabel Apolonia García Hernández in Central Lugareño, Camagüey, Cuba, on April 10, 1933, to a Cuban father and Mexican mother. Attracted to dancing, she began performing seriously in Havana at age 17, and soon earned notoriety at Cuba's National Theatre for her sensual, exotic style. She took her trade to Paris in 1957 and became the toast of the Folies Bergère as an up-and-coming Josephine Baker. Billed as the "Cuban H-Bomb", she combined her native Afro-Cuban rhythms with a seductive belly-dancing style that encouraged wolf whistles wherever she toured, which would eventually include Puerto Rico, Haiti and even the United States.
It wasn't long before she slithered her way into Neopolitan action films. Bodybuilder Steve Reeves had just muscled his way into films with his mythological hero Hercules and a new genre was born, with the exotic Chelo soon proving herself a fiery fit. She first attracted attention with the film Sign of the Gladiator (1959) [Sign of the Gladiator] where her erotically-charged dance segment stole the thunder right from under the movie's top-billed sex star, Swedish siren Anita Ekberg.
From there Chelo, with her volcanic temperament, highly distinctive cheekbones and wild mane of dark hair, went on to charm a number of "ab"normally fit muscleman co-stars, including Reeves, Gordon Mitchell and Mark Forest in such obviously-titled adventure films as The Pirate and the Slave Girl (1959); Goliath and the Barbarians (1959); Son of Samson (1960); Terror of the Red Mask (1960); The Huns (1960); and Morgan the Pirate (1960); and Desert War (1962), which was produced by Aldo Pomilia.
She had already met Pomilia in 1960 while both were working on the "Morgan the Pirate" production. They married a year later and she bore him son Aldino in 1962. While visiting Aldo in Spain, where he was the production supervisor of Clint Eastwood's star-making western The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), she made a brief uncredited mute cameo. Pomilia then executive-produced her an auspicious comeback, playing opposite her countryman, Havana-born Tomas Milian in the cult western Run, Man, Run (1968), as Dolores, which is arguably the best film role of her career. Chelo then made a brief appearance in a variation of that previous role, also called Dolores, in another cult western, the bizarre Night of the Serpent (1969), after which she abandoned the film scene and focused on Italian TV.
After the death of her husband in 1986, Alonso moved to Tuscany, Italy, where she found several interests to keep her busy, including breeding cats and operating a hotel/restaurant. She died at age 85 in Italy in 2019. - Actor

Barbara Donaldson was born on 10 April 1936 in Los Angeles, California, USA. She is an actress, known for South Pacific (1958) and Ways to Live Forever (2010).- Milt was born at Beth Israel Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on April 10, 1936 to Eastern European immigrants, Mildred and Joseph Kogan. Joseph earned a degree as a pharmacist from Temple University and after one year moved his family across the Delaware River to Camden, New Jersey, where he set up a pharmacy that lasted for 40 years and became a neighborhood icon. Milt found success at Woodrow Wilson high school as a basketball player, winning choice on Camden, N.J. City All-Star Basketball Team in 1953. He won acceptance to prestigious Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., where he performed as leading scorer on his college freshman team. In his first game, the next year, for the varsity, unfortunately, he suffered a severe knee injury, before modern knee surgery, which essentially ended his high caliber performances. Still, in 1957, he was voted Captain of the Cornell Basketball Team. Milt went on to medical school, instead, and graduated with a D.O. degree and then an M.D. from the University of California, Irvine. It was in those early 1960 years that he serendipitously fell into acting in Hollywood. Early success in TV commercials brought him much respect, especially since his early roles were as dumb, working-class characters that incited much laughter. He married Dena Lambie, from Northern California, after a stint as a professor/physician on the University of the Seven Seas, a floating campus that went around the world. Two children followed, Magavin and Teidi, and because his TV career never floundered, he soon felt embarrassed about his success and decided to repay someone...but whom? He joined the United States Peace Corps and brought his young family to West Africa, now Burkina Faso, where he served the poor there for two and a half years. On his return to California, he enrolled in a Masters in Preventive Health program at U.C.L.A. and graduated with an M.P.H. Unfortunately, his marriage took a toll from his energetic lifestyle and Dena divorced him two years later. Dedicating himself, full energy, to his dual careers of medicine and acting, working with the homeless and mentally ill in Los Angeles, he was soon guest starring on many major TV shows, appearing in movies, and continuing his success in comedy in commercials. After returning from two years in Harlowton, Montana, where he accepted a position with the National Health Service Corps as a cowboy doctor, he met Susan Quast, a South Dakota small-town beauty, who agreed, after some effort, to be his wife. Milt shares two children with Susan, son Jamie and daughter, Millay. In effort to continue contact with all his children, Milt joined the U.S. Defense Department and served with the U.S. Army in West Germany for two years. He returned to Hollywood with his complete family and now has been married to Susan for 35 years. Because of his medical adventures, he can speak German, French and Spanish. He is a voting member of both the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscars) and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Emmy). Three of his four children have earned lawyer degrees and son, Jamie, is a successful film composer in Hollywood. Susan and Milt built a home and farm in Oceanside, California where he now practices, he says, as a farmer. He continues his efforts in medicine and acting, traveling to Los Angeles to participate in TV

The epitome of tall, dark and handsome, Wayne Massey made his television debut as country/rock superstar Johnny Drummond on the daytime soap opera One Life to Live (1968) in the winter of 1979, attracting the immediate attention of viewers for his striking appearance as well as gentle sex appeal and sensuous singing voice. Quickly paired with songbird Becky Lee Abbott, portrayed by the popular Mary Gordon Murray, the couple promptly captured the daytime audience with their romantic duets and star-crossed lover story line. Landing this role was a new and unexpected adventure for the multi-talented Wayne Massey who never intended a career in show business.
Born Donald Wayne Massey, the youngest son of Floy and Georgia Massey, in Glendale, California, "Don" enjoyed an ideal childhood with his traditionally close family on a little ranch about 50 miles north of Glendale, not far from Palmdale, in rural Leona Valley. From an early age, he and older brother Warren were instructed in the various entertainment arts (singing, dancing, guitar, drama, etc.) by their well-respected and talented mother who owned and operated a professional school ("Georgia Massey's School of Song and Dance" in the San Fernando Valley), and from whom successful artists such as Connie Stevens, The Lettermen, Bobby Sherman, and the The Osmonds also received vocal training.
Just as his sophomore year at Palmdale High School ended in the summer of 1963, Wayne's family relocated to the San Fernando Valley. There, he enrolled as a junior at James Monroe High School that Fall and signed up for the choir as well as the varsity baseball team. Popularity came swiftly as he joined the ranks of campus "jocks" and drew attention for his size, looks, quick sense of humor, gentlemanly ways and distinctive John Wayne-like walk. Encouraged by his mother while a senior in high school, Wayne (still called Don), his brother, two cousins and a schoolmate, formed a group called "The Bompers" and released a 45rpm single called "Do The Bomp" on the Hanna-Barbera Records label. The record was a co-production with Coca-Cola and KFWB radio for the station's teen-oriented "Bomp Club" and was a local hit. Around that same time, and under an alternate moniker "The Dukes", the two brothers and a cousin also released another local hit record called "Surf Bird".
Wayne's first love and chosen career path, however, was baseball. His outstanding athletic talent was confirmed when he was drafted as a pitcher by the Anaheim Angels right out of high school. But, just as this promising career began, it was abruptly destroyed by a near deadly car accident. Suffering severe injuries, it ended all dreams of becoming a professional baseball star.
After many months of hospitalization and physical therapy, Wayne re-focused his attention towards his Mormon Church, and spent the next 2 1/2 years as a missionary in Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela, where he also learned to speak fluent Spanish. After returning home, he hurriedly married for the first time, moved from his home in southern California to Provo, Utah, became the proud father of a son named Judd, and met the personal challenge of earning a Master's Degree in business from Brigham Young University.
Wayne was subsequently building a career as a Production Analyst ("Efficiency Expert") for a manufacturing company back in California, when it was suggested during a recreational drama class he was taking in late 1979 that he should attend an audition. As it turned out, his singing talent, extraordinary looks, movie idol smile, and natural way of delivering a line instantly landed him a role on the soap opera One Life to Live (1968). In fact, instead of the role of Bo Buchanan, which went to Robert S. Woods, Wayne was quickly contacted and informed by ace casting director Mary Jo Slater, that the singing character of Johnny Drummond was being created just for him as a result of this first ever audition. Wayne was quite surprised, but the timing of this unexpected opportunity was perfect, because, as he revealed in an interview on the The Merv Griffin Show (1962) in 1980, he had recently received personal threats in the form of his car being blown up because of the effects of his current occupation. As he also related to Merv and his amused audience, "After that, I said to myself; 'Self', this probably isn't what I want to do for a livelihood!". So, being a single father, the decision to change careers wasn't too difficult under the circumstances.
Soon after joining the cast of One Life to Live (1968) and taking the studio execs' advise to start going by his middle name, Wayne signed with Polydor Records and released his first record album "Wayne Massey: One Life To Live" in 1980. Additionally during the early 1980's he guested on various TV programs such as The Merv Griffin Show (1962), Hee Haw (1969), Dinah! (1974), and Nashville Now (1983). He also hosted 100 episodes of "Nashville After Hours", a popular country music interview show on The Nashville Network (TNN), as well as starring in, and performing the theme song for the made-for-TV movie pilot "Crossfire".
After opting to leave One Life to Live (1968) as a regular recurring character in 1984, Wayne spent the next several years pursuing a career in country music, both singing and producing. Between 1985 and 1986, he and country music artist Charly McClain topped the charts with four hit duets and released a collaborative duets album entitled "When Love Is Right" under the Epic Records label. Under successive labels Polydor, Epic, MCA, and Mercury, he released nine solo singles between 1980 and 1989, as well as his critically acclaimed second solo album "Wayne Massey & Black Hawk" in 1989. He was also nominated as the Academy of Country Music "Top New Male Vocalist" for his 1983 single "Say You'll Stay".
Weary of the politics in the music industry, Wayne exited the field of entertainment in the early 1990s and very successfully redirected his diverse talents back into the business world.

Steven Frederic Seagal was born in Lansing, Michigan, to Patricia Anne (Fisher), a medical technician, and Samuel Seagal, a high school math teacher. His paternal grandparents were Russian Jewish immigrants, and his mother had English, German, and distant Irish and Dutch, ancestry. The enigmatic Seagal commenced his martial arts training at the age of seven under the tutelage of well-known karate instructor and author Fumio Demura, and in the 1960s commenced his aikido training in Orange County, CA, under the instruction of Harry Ishisaka. Seagal received his first dan accreditation in 1974, after he had moved to Japan to further his martial arts training. After spending many years there honing his skills, he achieved the ranking of a 7th dan in the Japanese martial art "aikido" and was instructing wealthy clients in Los Angeles when he came to the attention of Hollywood power broker Michael Ovitz.
Ovitz saw star value in the imposing-looking Seagal. The high-octane action movie genre was in full swing in the late 1980s, and Seagal's debut movie, "Above the Law", was wildly received by action fans and actually received some complimentary critical reviews. He followed up "Above the Law" with another slam-bang thriller, Hard to Kill (1990), as a cop shot in an ambush by the mob who revives from a coma to take his revenge. The movie also starred Seagal's wife at the time, leggy Kelly LeBrock, who was married to him from 1987 to 1996 and is the mother of three of his children. His next outing was battling voodoo-using Jamaican drug "posses" in the hyper-violent Marked for Death (1990), before returning to fight psychotic mob gangster William Forsythe in the even more punishing Out for Justice (1991). Seagal was by now enormously popular, and his next movie, the big-budgeted Under Siege (1992), set aboard the battleship USS Missouri and also starring Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey, was arguably his best film to date, impressing both fans and critics alike.
Seagal's fighting style was rather different from that of other on-screen martial arts dynamos such as Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme, who were predominantly fighters from striking arts background such as karate or tang soo do. However, aikido is built around using an opponent's inertia and body weight to employ various locks, chokes and holds that incapacitate him. Seagal carries himself differently, too, and often appears wearing Italian designer clothes and usually favors an all-black outfit, generally with a three-quarter-length coat with an elaborate trim. Additionally, Seagal's on-screen characters were often seemingly benign or timid individuals; however, when the going gets rough they reveal themselves to be deadly ex-CIA operatives, or retired Special Forces soldiers capable of enormous destruction!
As his box-office drawing power grew, Seagal began to infuse his film projects with his personal and spiritual beliefs, especially concerning the abuse of the environment. He appeared as an oil fire expert who turns against his corrupt CEO (played by Michael Caine) in On Deadly Ground (1994) to save the Eskimo population from an oil disaster; in Fire Down Below (1997) he plays an environmental agency troubleshooter investigating the dumping of toxic waste in Kentucky coal mines, and in the slow-moving The Patriot (1998) he plays a medical specialist trying to stop a lethal virus unleashed by an extremist group.
Action fans struggled to come to terms with social messaging being built into bone-crunching fight films; however, Seagal's box-office clout remained fairly strong, and more traditional chopsocky projects followed with the "buddy cop" film The Glimmer Man (1996), then almost a cameo role as a Navy SEAL alongside CIA analyst Kurt Russell before Seagal is sucked out of a jet at 35,000 feet in Executive Decision (1996).
In 1999 Seagal took a different turn in his film projects with the surprising genteel Prince of Central Park (2000), about a child living inside NYC's most famous park. He returned to more familiar territory with further high-voltage, guns-blazing action in Exit Wounds (2001), Half Past Dead (2002), Out for a Kill (2003) and Belly of the Beast (2003).
Unbeknownst to many, in 1997 Seagal publicly announced that one of his Buddhist teachers, His Holiness Penor Rinpoche, had accorded Seagal as a tulku, the reincarnation of a Buddhist Lama. This initial announcement was met with some disbelief until Penor Rinpoche himself gave a confirmation statement on Seagal's new title. Seagal has repeatedly discussed his involvement in Buddhism and how he devotes many hours studying and meditating this ancient Eastern religion.
While his box-office appeal has somewhat declined from his halcyon blockbusters of the mid-'90s, Seagal still has a very loyal fan base in the action movie genre and continues to remain a highly bankable star.- Music Artist

Though known through most of his career as a manager, Moody started out as a wrestler. In June 1974, he made his wrestling debut, wrestling as "Mr. X" (under a mask) in Greenville, AL. He continued to wrestle later known as "The Embalmer".
In April 1977, he began his managerial career as Percy Pringle III. Moody married and he and his wife Dianna, welcomed their son Michael in 1979. He left the wrestling business and went back to school and earned his Funeral Director/Embalmer's Certification from San Antonio College.

Delightfully offbeat, redheaded comedic actress Deborah Rush, from theater, films and TV, was born on April 10, 1954, in Chatham, New Jersey and developed an early interest in making people laugh as a child. Following high school, she decided to pursue acting headfirst, apprenticing with the Play-House of the Ridiculous comedy troupe for starters. She headed for New York and made her Broadway debut in the Tony-winning musical "Dance with Me" (1975) which ran nearly a year. Later in the decade she appeared winningly in a number of New York Shakespeare productions for Joseph Papp including "The Misanthrope," "All's Well That Ends Well" and as Bianca to Meryl Streep's Katherine and Raul Julia's Petruchio in "The Taming of the Shrew." She also understudied Streep as Alice in Papp's "Alice in Concert" musical, based on the popular Lewis Carroll character.
Film and TV began coming Deborah's way in the late 1970s, making her movie debut in a bit part in Oliver's Story (1978), the wan remake of the romantic tearjerker Love Story (1970). By her second film, however, she was starting to grab notice even in the smallest of contributions with just a vacant look or manipulating her trademark scratchy voice to comic effect. Who can forget her hilarious scene as the cooey-voiced dental assistant with patient Dudley Moore and Blake Edwards in 10 (1979)? Elsewhere, her stage performances in A Midsummer Night's Dream (1982) (as Hermia), and in the musical Alice at the Palace (1982) were engagingly recaptured on TV. She remained strongly rooted to her first love, the theatre, over the years. Other plays that captured her special brand of eccentrics included "Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You," "Maybe I'm Doing It Wrong," "Lips Together, Teeth Apart" and "The Sisters Rosenzweig." In 1983, Deborah returned to Broadway as nascent, hilariously myopic actress Brooke Ashton in the slapstick farce "Noises Off," capturing a Tony nomination as well as Drama Desk Award. She returned to Broadway a couple of years later to co-star with Rosemary Harris and Campbell Scott in Noël Coward's "Hay Fever" (1985).
Although top character stardom proved elusive, Deborah has remained a durable comic presence for five decades and has provided amusing secondary finesse for a host of notable directors throughout the 1980's, including Woody Allen (twice, with Zelig (1983) and The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985)); John Schlesinger (with Honky Tonk Freeway (1981)); John G. Avildsen (with A Night in Heaven (1983)); and Frank Perry (with Compromising Positions (1985)); Bob Balaban (with (Parents (1989)); Sidney Lumet (with Family Business (1989)); and Susan Seidelman (with She-Devil (1989)). She maintains that lovable habit of grabbing attention wherever she works.
On television Deborah played the recurring role of the Mayor's wife on the comedy series Spin City (1996) and had a regular part on the short-lived but critically-acclaimed series Strangers with Candy (1999). A prequel of sorts was made later with the feature film version of Strangers with Candy (2005). Comedy took center stage in a number of 90's film credits: My Blue Heaven (1990) headed by Steve Martin; the "eccentric relatives" ensemble movie Passed Away (1992); the zany Christmas time crimer Reckless (1995); the madcap gay farce In & Out (1997) starring Kevin Kline; and the classic Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan romantic heart-warmer You've Got Mail (1998).
Into the millennium, Deborah has exhibited wonderfully off-kilter parts in both comedy and drama, including The Good Girl (2002) with Jennifer Aniston; the second "American Pie" sequel American Wedding (2003); and the dramatic film Half Nelson (2006) as Ryan Gosling's wacky mom; Stage sightings included a Broadway return (after a two- decade absence) in the revival of "Absurd Person Singular" in 2005 as well as an off-Broadway stage role as Henrietta Iscariot in "The Last Days of Judas Iscariot" opposite Sam Rockwell's title role that same year. She also appeared in a production of "Blithe Spirit" in 2009.
Other comic outings on film have included The Good Life (2007), Julie & Julia (2009), Rhymes with Banana (2012), Women Who Kill (2016) and Accommodations (2018), while on TV she hit both funny and serious marks on such programs as "The Good Wife," "Law and Order," "Inside Amy Schumer," "The Blacklist" and recurring roles on Big Lake (2010), Orange Is the New Black (2013) (as Piper's mother), and Billions (2016).
