Peter Firth was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire, in 1953. His parents owned the Waterloo Inn pub in Pudsey, Leeds and he attended Hanson Grammar School in Bradford. Firth took weekend classes at the Bradford Playhouse near his Pudsey home and by his mid-teens was playing in "Camelot" at the Bradford Alhambra. Leaving school at 16, he became a major child star in television series such as "The Double Deckers," which was shot at a number of film studios in the UK. He made his film debut at the age of 18 in Franco Zeffirelli's Brother Sun, Sister Moon (1972). In July 1973 he received his big break by winning the leading role of disturbed adolescent Alan Strang in Peter Shaffer's play "Equus," which was performed by the National Theatre at the Old Vic in London. In October 1974, the play opened on Broadway to sensational reviews, with Firth playing opposite Anthony Hopkins as the middle-aged Dr. Martin Dysart. Firth returned to the play at the Plymouth Theatre on Broadway with Richard Burton as Dysart, and then starred in several other plays by the National Theatre including versions of "Romeo and Juliet" (as Romeo) and "Spring Awakening." After taking leading roles in several films such as Aces High (1976) and Joseph Andrews (1977), Firth reprised the role of Alan Strang in the film version of Equus (1977), directed by Sidney Lumet and again co-starring with Burton. Receiving a Bafta Award and an Academy Award nomination, Firth next played Angel Clare in Roman Polanski's Tess (1979). In 1981, he replaced Simon Callow as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in Peter Shaffer's play "Amadeus" on Broadway, co-starring with Sir Ian McKellen. He gave other notable performances as a Russian sailor in the kitchen sink drama Letter to Brezhnev (1985), The Hunt for Red October (1990), Shadowlands (1993) and as a sinister theatre manager in An Awfully Big Adventure (1995) with Hugh Grant. In 1994, he returned to British television with a major role in the hugely popular series Heartbeat (1992). He is married with four children and is good friends with his Equus (1977) co-star Jenny Agutter, who also starred with him in MI-5 (2002). Amy James-Kelly is a British actress known for her roles as Jenny in 'Safe', Sarah in the 'Military Wives' movie and most recently as Hannah in 'Three Families'. Training at The Manchester School of Acting, she's also embarked on her own filmmaking projects as director, writer and producer.
She began her career just before her 18th birthday as Maddie in 'Coronation Street'. Alongside her first professional acting role she completed her A Levels and learned to drive, commuting between studio and sixth form, where she received three Bs in Fine Art, Photography and Theatre Studies. Spending eighteen months on one of the UK's most popular TV shows and the longest running soap opera ever, gave her further hunger to explore the industry: Making the decision to leave in 2015, she went on to play Martha in ITV's period drama 'Jericho' alongside Jessica Raine, Hans Matheson and Clarke Peters. Taking time to explore the other side of the camera, Amy spent time in various roles in production - both on set and off - and found a passion in screenwriting. It was with this that she created her debut short film, 'Last Summer' which was shortlisted at Manchester International Film Festival and Cardiff Mini Film Festival. Bringing her back onto our screens, following a brief appearance on the much-loved and long-running 'Moving On', she portrayed the role of Jenny in Harlan Coben's Netflix original, 'Safe', alongside Michael C Hall and Amanda Abbington. Following this she played Suzannah in 'Gentleman Jack' and the Girl in 'Girl Alone' - an Old Hall Films short with virtually no dialogue, told in reverse. For this she won two best actress awards and the film has scooped a plethora of trophies and praise at festivals internationally. Next, she made her big-screen debut as young newly-wed Sarah in the 'Military Wives' movie alongside Kristin Scott Thomas and Sharon Horgan. Based on a true story, the film premiered at Toronto Film Festival and had its UK premiere in Leicester Square where the real Military Wives Choir performed. Since then she played Grace in season 2 of 'The Bay' and Hannah in 'Three Families'. The latter being a critically acclaimed two-part BBC drama about the abortion laws in Northern Ireland where the central cast represented three very real families and their stories.Brenda Pidmore- "the beating, shattered heart of the show ... a startlingly sympathetic performance" (New York Times)

Thomas Newman is an American film score composer. He was born in Los Angeles. His father was notable film score composer Alfred Newman (1900-1970). The Newman family is of Russian-Jewish descent, and includes several other well-known musicians. Thomas' mother Martha Louis Montgomery (1920-2005) wanted her sons to have a musical education. Thomas attended regular lessons in violin as a child. An older Thomas received his musical education while attending the University of Southern California and Yale University. Thomas Newman graduated as Bachelor of Arts in 1977, and a Master of Music in 1978.
Thomas originally composed music for theatrical productions in Broadway, working with his mentor Stephen Sondheim. His uncle Lionel Newman asked him to compose music for the television series "The Paper Chase" (1978-1979, 1986), which was Thomas' first credit in a television production.
In the 1980s, Thomas first worked in film. Composer John Williams, a close family friend, hired Thomas to work in the music department for space opera film "Return of the Jedi" (1983). Thomas' main work in the film was orchestrating the music in a scene where character Darth Vader dies. Afterwards, Thomas was approached by film producer Scott Rudin and hired to work as a film score composer in his own right. His first work in the field was the film score of romantic drama "Reckless" (1984).
While he worked regularly as a film score composer during the 1980s, Thomas reportedly felt he had to retrain himself for a hard and demanding job. It reportedly took him 8 years to not feel fraudulent in his efforts. In 1994, Thomas received his first Academy Award nominations, for the film scores of "The Shawshank Redemption" (1994) and "Little Women" (1994). He lost the Award to rival composer Hans Zimmer, who had been nominated for the film score of the animated film "The Lion King" (1994).
Newman was an established and increasingly famous composer in the 1990s. He received further Academy Award nominations, although he never actually won. Among his more notable works was the film score of the drama film "American Beauty" (1999), which earned Thomas both a Grammy and a BAFTA award. Newman had a good working relationship with the film's director Sam Mendes. Mendes has kept hiring Thomas as the composer for most of his films. The main exception being the comedy-drama film "Away We Go" (2009), which did not have a film score.
In the 2000s, Thomas continued working in high-profile films, such as "Road to Perdition" (2002), "Finding Nemo" (2003), and "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events". By 2006, he had been nominated eight times for an Academy Award, while never winning it. He started joking about his lack of victories in public.
In 2008, Thomas was nominated for two Academy Awards, for both the film score and an original song for the animated film "WALL-E" (2008). He won neither, though the hit song "Down to Earth" earned him a Grammy Award. He continues to work regularly in the 2010s. Among his more acclaimed works were the film scores for spy film "Skyfall" (2012) and period drama "Saving Mr. Banks" (2013). He has continued being nominated for Academy Awards. As of 2020, he has been nominated 15 times for the Academy Award. He is the most nominated living composer to have never actually won an Academy Award, tied with Alex North. He has won a total of 5 Grammy awards.Music- Casting Director
