Nikita Mikhalkov is the son of the famous communist poet Sergey Mikhalkov, who wrote the lyrics of the Soviet national anthem and had strong connections to the Communist Party. Mikhalkov has an impressively long list of wins at the most prestigious film festivals, like Cannes, Venice, Moscow or Karlovy Vary.
Following his movie's Oscar win for Best Foreign Language Film, Nikita Mikhalkov won a parliamentary seat in the then Prime Minister Victor Chernomyrdin's party.

Sheldon Lettich was born in New York City, but moved to California at a young age and grew up in the Los Angeles area. After graduation from high school he spent nearly four years in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving as a radio operator in South Vietnam with 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, and later with the elite 1st Force Reconnaissance Company based at Camp Pendleton, California.
He worked his way through college as a professional photographer, and attended at the American Film Institute's Center for Advanced Film Studies as a Cinematography Fellow. Although his initial career goal was to become a director of photography, at the AFI his interests branched out to encompass writing and directing, which became the two fields where he found eventual success in the entertainment business.
Based partly upon his experiences in Vietnam, he co-authored the renowned play, "Tracers," with a group of Vietnam Vets who were also aspiring actors. First performed on July 4th, 1980 at the Odyssey Theater in Los Angeles, the play then traveled to Joseph Papp's Public Theater in New York City, the Steppenwolf Theater in Chicago (directed by Gary Sinise), the Royal Court Theater in London, and numerous venues worldwide. It received both Drama Desk Awards and L.A. Drama Critics Awards, and is still being performed throughout the world.
Around the same time, Lettich was writing numerous spec screenplays. One of these, co-written with Josh Becker, subsequently became the cult classic, Thou Shalt Not Kill... Except (1985), which starred Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi.
Eventually his screenplays began attracting the attention of producers in Hollywood. He co-authored the Cold War drama, Russkies (1987), which was the first starring role for a young Joaquin Phoenix. Around the same time he wrote the screenplay for the now-classic martial arts film, Bloodsport (1988), which launched the career of Jean-Claude Van Damme. One of his Vietnam-based screenplays caught the eye of Sylvester Stallone, which resulted in an overall deal with Stallone's White Eagle Productions, and led to him co-writing Rambo III (1988) with Stallone.
The success of Bloodsport not only turned Jean-Claude Van Damme into an international action star, but it also forged a long and ongoing friendship with the man who wrote it. Van Damme helped to launch Lettich's directing career with the film, Lionheart (1990) , which became Van Damme's first movie to be released theatrically by a major U.S. studio. This was followed by Double Impact (1991), which was filmed in Hong Kong, with Lettich directing Van Damme in a challenging double role as twin brothers seeking revenge for their parents' murder.
Lettich next discovered Mark Dacascos, who made his starring debut in Only the Strong (1993), a film that introduced the Brazilian martial art of Capoeira to international audiences. He also directed Dolph Lundgren in The Last Patrol (2000), and Daniel Bernhardt in Perfect Target (1997).
Continuing his long association with Van Damme, Lettich was a writer and a producer on the historical French Foreign Legion film, Legionnaire (1998), starring Van Damme and shot on location in Morocco. And he directed The Order (2001), an action-thriller starring Van Damme and Charlton Heston, which was filmed on locations in Israel and Bulgaria.
His most recent directorial effort, which he also co-wrote, is The Hard Corps (2006), an urban action-romance. Starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Vivica A. Fox, the film was shot on locations around Vancouver, Canada, and on sound stages in Romania, and was financed and released worldwide by Sony Pictures Entertainment.
His latest movie is Max (2015), which he co-wrote with his long-time friend, Boaz Yakin. The movie was directed by Boaz and produced by MGM. It was released nationwide in the USA by Warner Brothers on June 26th, 2015, and by the end of the summer had grossed $43 million. The novelization sold over 100,000 copies. A sequel has been completed.- Production Designer

Born in 1984 in Yerevan, Armenia, by the age of 29, Sarik Andreasyan became a top-3 highest grossing Russian directors according to Variety Russia.
Directing a successful remake of the Russian cult classic "Office Romance" at the age of 23 puts him on the map and the widely beloved box office hit "Moms" cements his positions as one of the most talented and profitable directors in his country. The sequel to "Moms" - "Happy New Year, Moms!" sees Sarik working with the ensemble cast studded with the legend himself - monsieur Alan Delon.
In 2013 the American chapter of Sarik's career begins. In the summer of the same year his creative collaboration with the incredible talents of Adrien Brody and Hayden Christensen results in highly-anticipated dramatic action "American Heist".
In 2014 Sarik produces and directs a highly anticipated sci-fi thriller "Mafia" based on an international hit social game. Employing the top Russian talent and sensational CGI the film proved to be the biggest opening upon its release.
2016 sees Sarik take on one of the most dreadful and tragic natural disasters that has ever occurred to the humanity - Spitak earthquake - in a form of an epic drama "Earthquake" filmed on location. Passionate approach, unique style and immense desire to depict honest human suffering has earned Sarik's film to be selected by the National Armenian Film Committee to represent his country of birth in seeking an Academy Awards nomination.
Later that year Sarik breaks the boundaries with the most ambitious project from that part of the world to date - The Guardians (2017), described by a Rotten Tomatoes critic as "The plot is bone-headed and the quality of the visual effects is terrible, but there is a pure, unironic sense of purpose in this film that is utterly charming and, at times, unintentionally hilarious." - first of its kind superhero film that, according to The Hollywood Reported, The Guardian and many more, proves to become the most anticipated international release of 2017.
With four more projects in development as of the end of 2017 (among which are sci-fi thriller "Coma" and post-apocalyptic epic "Station 88"), Sarik Andreasyan is set to establish himself among the hottest directors chased by Hollywood producers and a cinematographic visionary of our time.- Director

Andy Lambert's first film was "Live From Britain" a 52 minute cine-essay looking at the construction of national identity during the Thatcher era commissioned by Channel 4 in the UK in 1990. He subsequently made several more documentaries for television, including a surreal history of shopping malls for BBC. He then moved into drama with two short films, "The Accidental Conspiracy", a comedy-thriller that takes paranoia to its absurd limits, and "More is Less", a comedy about a young London couple who are struck with 'option paralysis' on a Saturday night. Both films screened at many festivals winning prizes at Tampere and Bristol Brief Encounters. Lambert then began directing TV commercials and worked for a string of top companies (Partzan, Blink, HSI) and top clients (Nokia, Nike, Guinness) winning several awards. Many of the 100s of TV commercial he has directed are movie-esque homages, including the well-known 'Deer Hunter' spoof ad he shot for Revels. He recently returned to short films with The MUTE Series, short pieces with no dialogue and only containing one shot.- Producer

Keith was nominated by BAFTA for the Disney Channels kid's series 'Bus Life' and recently directed the feature film 'The More You Ignore Me' - a dark, but heartwarming, comedy drama about how mental affects a family in the 1980s.
In 2000 Keith and Claire Cottrell set up their own production company, Velvet Pictures. Their first project was 'Top Dog' - a short film written and directed by Keith. A dark thriller with psychotic overtones. The film was shown in various festivals around the world - winning the Kodak award in Los Angeles and being shortlisted for the Turner Short Film award.
Keith English has always been a film-maker. He bought his first movie camera when he was 9 years old from his uncle in 1970. It cost him £5. From that day forward he wrote and directed countless short movies utilising his friends and family as actors and crew.
Having done three seasons in the National Youth Theatre in London, performing and crewing, in 1981, at 20, Keith won a place at the Bournemouth Film school, one of the few courses at that time to be recognised by the The Royal Television Society and the ACTT (the Film union). There he majored in Writing and Directing where his flair for edgy subject matter and near-the-knuckle humour won him a distinction and 'Best Film of The Year' for 'The Undertakers' a dark musical comedy.
Whilst at the school he was also Production Designer on the BAFTA nominated short drama 'Killing Time' - about unemployment and fixations about the Catholic faith.
On graduating in 1985, he became Creative Director of Scores Ltd whose clients included all the major studios and directors such as Stanley Kubrick, Tim Burton, Lindsey Anderson and Hugh Hudson. There he met (future cutting-edge director) Jonathan Glazer. They wrote two feature film scripts in their spare time; one being 'The Metal Forest' (1992) - a horror film where mechanophilia (having sex with cars) and nihilism are strong themes.
On leaving Scores, Keith became a freelance writer-director making TV promos and Industrial Films. His work garnered him a host of industry awards and accolades including gold medals in New York Festivals and 3 Promax (UK) statues for his high profile advertising campaign for the BBC's 'Eastenders'.
1992 Keith started his commercials career with a highly provocative commercial for 'The Great Frog' (a famous Soho Jewellery store). It was the first 18-rated commercial ever shown in cinemas. From that day to this, he has become internationally well-known in commercials for his dark humour and his ability to tackle edgy subject matter. He has done 400 plus commercials over that time. For many years his work was based in Spain and Amsterdam, but more recently he has worked for Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Czech republic, France, Belgium, Germany. He has twice won the coveted Creative Director's award for Best Director in Belgium.
In 2008 Keith was chosen to direct the international Heineken promotion for the James Bond release 'A Quantum of Solace' - working with Bond Actress Olga Kurylenko.- Director

Award-winning director, Eva Lanska has been garnering critical and popular acclaim with her hauntingly evocative films. After graduating from the London Film Academy in 2017 where she studied Cinematography, Eva shot her first film Ok, Mum. The film was selected by the Cannes Film Festival in the Short Conner and the Russian Pavilion programs in Cannes Film Festival. Throughout 2018, Ok, Mum won numerous awards in both America and Europe. Emerging on the scene as a student filmmaker, her early work Addicted won awards at both the California Film Awards and the Canadian Short Film Festival in 2018. As of 2019, Eva has finished work on her latest project, Little French Fish, shot in Paris with famous British actors Jonas Khan and Devora Wild in the lead roles.
Perhaps the power of Lanska's film is her willingness to trust her viewers to respond to the humanistic principles that drive her work with their own sense of humanity. Unflinchingly she faces the complex life issues with which her audience can identify and find inspiration to overcome them. The power of her films is the strength of her intuition and deep faith in the positive message of her works. It is the authenticity of the characters and their conflicts and the richness of her film's atmosphere that make her work distinctive.
(Who are her influences? All art derives from its predecessors? Maybe the Italian director Vittorio De Sica? Ask her as this would show her knowledge of the art form and put her work in a historical context.)
Although Lanska now resides in London while a student she moved from Russia to France, traveling extensively. Life in Paris, Tel Aviv, and New York enriched her life experience, but Eva admits that it was European culture and its powerful embodiment in music, films, particularly French cinema, which has left an indelible impression on her lifestyle and on her films.
Eva is in love with her viewer, every minute of her work is saturated with this feeling, each frame is filled with meaning, subtext, hint, every movement, and detail are in their place and carries a certain symbolism, assuring that not a second of the viewer's time is wasted. Her love is contagious, she encourages us to believe, to seek, to find and not to lose hope, despite the circumstances. Eva underlines that there are no unimportant details because the soul of the film resides in her precisely depicted details of everyday life.
Eva is inspired by her unswerving observation of everyday life, life that constantly whispers beautiful stories to us-with the only requirement of the director being to simply honor them and convey them to the actors, allowing the story to come to life on screen. Another source of inspiration for her is motherhood. Bringing up her daughter alone has deeply enriched her experience and understanding of other people and the world. Eva asserts that it I essential to remain loyal to herself, to her inner voice, and this is the principle she applies to both, her own life and filming, which to Eva are one in the same.
Eva is also actively involved in various charitable movements dedicated to the social protection of children.- Director
