- DirectorCat Della MooreStarsCat Della MooreMegan McCabeJosh AndrewsIn post-apocolyptic North America, Katniss Everdeen (Cat Della Moore) is a poor District 12 citizen who must hunt to feed her family, which consists of her twelve year old sister, Prim (Megan Anne McCabe), and her mother. Her best friend Gale Hawthorne (Josh Andrews) hunts for the same reason. The movie starts with Katniss asleep in her bed when her sister cries out for her. Her sister, Primrose, has had a terrible nightmare that she was reaped for the 74th Annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live television. Katniss reasures her and sings her back to sleep. Katniss then leaves to go hunting with Gale and spots a deer, but Gale scares it away, saying that she will be spotted by the Peacekeepers (police) if she drags a deer into the town. He then helps her shoot down a bird instead. KAtniss then travels to the town's main trading area, the hob, and trades with an old woman nicknamed Greasy Sae (Helen Jackson). Sae then gives her a Mockingjay Pin and wishes her luck at the reaping later that day. Katniss returns home and helps her little sister prepare for the reaping and gives her the Mockingjay Pin, knowing that Prim is more scared then she is. They then continue to the reaping where Primrose is picked to enter The Hunger Games Arena. Katniss volunteers in her place and, despite the protests from her sister, says goodbye to her friends and family and speeds off on a train to the Capitol. In the Capitol, she meets Cinna, whom she instantly befriends. Katniss is then interviewed by Ceasar Flickerman (Rita Moore) and shows off the dress that Cinna made her. (The dress catches fire without hurting Katniss) Katniss then goes to training and receives a score of eleven, which is considered very high. Cinna congratulates her and sees her off. The movie ends with Katniss rising on a platform into the arena while a mechanical voice counts down froms 10 to 0. Katniss then runs off-screen and the credits role.
