Sylvia, showing her ability for acting, is employed as a moving picture actress and sends her little sister Janet to a Boarding School. By her earnest perseverance, in a month's time Sylvia has become "principal character". The production then in preparation was the old fairy tale "Cinderella" for which part Sylvia was appointed. The famous story of the loosing of the slipper was to be taken and the actors set off for the beautiful mansion of the Count Sivry, an old incorrigible bachelor. Soon reaching their destination they find the Count not at home but are gladly welcomed by the valet who allows them the use of the great old hall and staircase, where the scene was to be taken. All is well. Cinderella leaves the ballroom, quickly trips down the stairs and loses her slipper in her hurry, Just as the story related. In preparing to take her leave, Sylvia really forgets to pack together with her other articles, the little slipper which she leaves on a small table in the Count's sitting-room. Jenny, who had formally been the most popular actress, is jealous of her rival whom she treats with great aloofness. Knowing that Mr. Piccolini, the stage manager had a strong liking for Sylvia, she lays a snare to entrap her. That day, Jenny invites Sylvia to supper at her home as well as the young girl's admirer. On a pretext she leaves the room, but through the slightly ajar door watches the outcome. Her clan works as she desires, Mr. Piccolini finding himself alone with the young girl attempts to embrace her. Sylvia, very indignantly repulses him and taking her hat, leaves Jenny's apartment. That night after careful deliberation she writes to the company requesting the cancellation of her contract with them. In the meantime Count Sivry has returned home and is greatly surprised at finding a woman's slipper in his sitting-room. He soon learns the truth and carelessly dismisses the matter from his mind, but somehow the pretty little satin clipper persists in haunting him, and he finally gives himself up to pleasant dreams regarding the fair owner. While passing along the street one day, he is attracted by a billboard in front of the Alhambra Theater and learns that the picture "Cinderella" was then playing. He enters the theater and what is his surprise to recognize the staircase of his own mansion and immediately sees the connection between the picture and the little slipper in hie possession. The Count sets out for the studio is search of the pretty "Cinderella," but of course she is not there and he secures her address. Sylvia having given up her position in the studio, and desiring to keep little Janet at the Boarding School, has taken in some sewing to do. She is busily engaged in her work when the Count Sivry interrupts her. He explains his infatuation but she refuses to listen to him and turns him out. The old bachelor has now completely fallen under the charms of Sylvia and has determined to marry her. He takes the kind old landlady into his confidence and they concoct a plan together. At the Boarding School the good woman asks [?] for little Janet whom she takes to the Count's house. [?] Sylvia with a letter which is written by a woman admirer [?] asking her to come to see her as she was an invalid. [?] anything peculiar Sylvia goes with the landlady to the Aunt's house which she does not recognize. She is taken into a beautiful room and what is her surprise and joy when a little later Janet rushes into her arms. Her sister then gives her a letter which the Count has written begging her to accept his heart and name. And as the fairy tale ended, the poor young girl Sylvia married the Prince and they lived happy ever after.

- Mr. A. Duncan traveled in the best society and was generally a gentleman of high esteem among the fashionable element of the city. Mr. Duncan met Mr. Castlemain and the latter told him that he proposed leaving for his villa for a brief stay at the seashore. Oddly enough. Castlemain had no sooner left his home when thieves entered and looted the place. Kitty Castlemain, returning from the depot in her motor, suffered the inconvenience of a breakdown, and was met and assisted home by Mr. Duncan, a coincidence which explained itself to Kitty some days later. James Fox, a private detective of renown, was called and the news soon spread to the stronghold of "The Black Lily Gang" that Fox was after them. Hence, Kitty received an anonymous note, suggesting that if she would like to regain her jewels, to send someone in whom she had confidence to the Aqueduct. This, note she gave to Fox, who sent his assistant to shadow the bearer of the note back to the stronghold of the gang. A sensational motor car race followed and the important capture of one of the gang by Fox, who, with assistants, made his way to the secret meeting place of the gang, and by dint of much effort managed to find the secret spring that opened the door. Exultingly, Fox stepped into the room, the walls of which suddenly rose before him, revealing a dozen of the gang, revolvers in hands. Suddenly the very floor beneath his feet gave way and the detective was precipitated into a deep pit, which, at the pressing of a button on the part of one of the gang, began rapidly to fill with water. Meanwhile the police were active. They also discovered the secret button marked by the sign of a black lily, and, after a valiant fight, managed to overpower the criminals. Meanwhile one of the gang had taken a message to Duncan. The messenger was shadowed by an assistant of Fox, who returned to the gang headquarters with the information that Duncan was really the leader of the band. Fox then disguised himself as one of the important lieutenants of Duncan, and, going to the Castlemain Villa, where a reception was being held, managed to convey a message to Duncan. The old man stepped into the garden and then Fox, with his evidence complete, revealed the wary old criminal as the real head of "The Black Lily Gang."

Harland earns the ire of parishioners by teaching young boys to box, and Giles manipulates local opinion to have the bishop remove him. Harland rescues a gentleman from a mugging in Sydney who suggests that he go to Kalmaroo where a criminal gang has driven the church out of the area. Harland preaches, and unexpectedly sees Muriel in the congregation; her property is near Kalmaroo. But her overseer is Red Jack Braggan who leads the gang which violently breaks up Harland's mission - much to the distress of Muriel who regards Harland as too timid - and is in cahoots with Giles. Harland goes to work as a station hand at a property neighbouring Muriel's. Giles arranges for Red Jack to kidnap Muriel so that he might marry the girl and thus prevent her giving evidence against him. Harland rescues Muriel: they leap from the stage coach as it thunders across Hampden Bridge into the Kangaroo River.

So she takes their three children and hides in David's home, hoping to throw a scare into her husband. Now David tries to take care of the kids, hoping to forget his own troubles. Herbert phones David that he is coming over, but David tells his friend he has the measles. Meanwhile, Sybil's kids have gotten sick from eating too much taffy. So David calls Betty's father, who is a doctor. Betty comes over with her father, and David cooks up a scheme with the doctor to quarantine the house so that Betty will have to stay and help him take care of the children. Herbert arrives and chaos ensues when he discovers his wife and kids are there. Eventually, things get straightened out and David regains Betty's love.

- Little Ito and his mother are wanderers without home or friends. Lady Wistaria and her husband, Lord Idzu, are without children, and the Lady prays that the gods may bless her with offspring. While she is thus praying, the poor wanderers come to the gate of Lord Idzu's garden, and the mother falls exhausted. She is carried into the house, but in her weakened and emaciated condition she succumbs and dies, leaving little Ito an orphan. Lady Wistaria begs her husband to allow her to adopt the boy, and, with his consent, the child becomes an inmate of the beautiful home of Idzu. One year later the stork visits the house of Idzu, and a child is born to bless my Lord and Lady. There is great rejoicing. Ito enters and falls prostrate before the babe and swears to devote his life to little "Clover Blossom," whom he makes his constant companion and charge. One day while the children are playing together "Clover Blossom" asks Ito to take her in the boat on the lake. He does so, and while they are paddling in childish glee the boat becomes unfastened from its mooring and floats out upon the lake. A storm arises and the winds blow, and poor Ito takes off his outer garments and wraps them about "Clover Blossom" in his effort to protect her from the cold, then he clasps her to his little breast and prays the gods to save them. A fisherman sees them adrift and goes to their rescue, bringing them to the shore, where the parents of "Clover Blossom" are anxiously waiting and ready to receive the children after hours of tearful and fearful anticipation of their safety. In protecting the baby, regardless of his own exposure, poor little Ito faints. Unconscious, he is carried into the house and placed upon the floor. While he is lying there little "Clover Blossom" comes in and sits beside him, leans over and kisses him. She places a branch of blossoms in his hand. Ito revives just as Lady Wistaria and Lord Idzu enter the room. Then they see Ito and their child caressing each other there is great rejoicing. They pray to the great God Buddah in acknowledgment of his great mercies to them.
- Poor Hako, a Japanese boy, is sold into bondage to a cruel fisherman who makes his life a burden and even more wretched than his physical deformities and weakness. Morning Glory, a little Japanese girl, in passing the fisherman's hut with her mother, sees Hako, looks into the sad face and feels sorry for him. Her father is a florist, and when he gives his daughter a couple of chrysanthemum plants, she gives one of them to Hako, who stealthily plants it where it cannot be seen by his cruel master, at night watering and cultivating it as the only bright thing in his unhappy life, and his sole possession. Morning Glory's father fails in business and is put in jail for debt, to the great delight of Keiki, his enemy and competitor in business. The Prince of the province offers a reward of five hundred yen to the child who brings the finest specimen of chrysanthemum on Festival Day. Hako is delighted, and hopes to win the prize and his freedom at the same time. Morning Glory rejoices in the thought that she will win the prize and her father's release from prison. Keiki, in passing Morning Glory's garden, sees her watching her cherished plant and its remarkable flower. He waits until nightfall, and, stealing into the garden, destroys the precious plant. The little girl, on discovering her loss, is inconsolable. Hako happens to be passing her house at this moment and resolves to sacrifice his chrysanthemum to the child's purpose, for he loves the girl who has always been so kind and good to him. At night Hako removes his plant and transplants it in Morning Glory's garden in place of the one she lost. The child goes into the garden the next morning. Her joy is unbounded. She thinks the gods have answered her prayer. The Festival Day arrives and Morning Glory wins the prize; her father is released from prison and Hako's sacrifice has won the great happiness and joy which is only the compensation gained by those who make it.
