- DirectorHsiao-Hsien HouStarsShu QiChang ChenYun ZhouA female assassin receives a dangerous mission to kill a political leader in eighth-century China.Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 9 march 2016 cinema - (DVD 23 august 2016) - A very contemplative film with successful photography and very beautiful costumes. However, the story is too complex with many side characters to make it sufficiently captivating
- DirectorIgor GotesmanStarsPierre NineyFrançois CivilIgor GotesmanA young man paying the rent for himself and his lifelong friends at an apartment ends up flat-broke and resorts to selling marijuana to pay the bills--only to get caught up in the dangerous world of drugs.Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 30 march 2016 cinema - (DVD 16 august 2016) - Very entertaining film but too vulgar for my taste. The humor is more or less good. It's a pity! It could have been much better.
- DirectorLaurent TirardStarsJean DujardinVirginie EfiraCédric KahnA lawyer dating a dashing, wealthy architect four and a half feet tall gets ribbed by her family, employees and jealous ex about his stature.Rate 5 - Mostly not interesting - Poor / French release date 4 may 2016 cinema - (DVD 7 september 2016) - The reworking of a screenplay from an unexceptional Spanish film - The actors aren't really bad, but the plot lacks interest and originality.
- DirectorRoar UthaugStarsKristoffer JonerAne Dahl TorpJonas Hoff OftebroAlthough anticipated, no one is really ready when the mountain pass above the scenic, narrow Norwegian fjord Geiranger collapses and creates an 85-meter high violent tsunami. A geologist is one of those caught in the middle of it.Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 27 july 2016 cinema - (DVD 7 december 2016) - If the subject of the movie is plausible (and therefore not uninteresting), the film does not escape the clichés specific to disaster films. Everything is predictable and by this, the film completely loses its interest
- DirectorHenry JoostAriel SchulmanStarsEmma RobertsDave FrancoEmily MeadeA high school senior finds herself immersed in an online game of truth or dare, where her every move starts to become manipulated by an anonymous community of "watchers."Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 24 august 2016 cinema - (DVD 9 january 2017) - Story not very original ans actors not really good. Entertaining but not transcendent
- DirectorSacha WolffStarsToki PiliokoIliana ZabethMikaele TuugahalaA young man of Wallisian origin in New Caledonia defies his father to go and play rugby in France. Living on his own on the other side of the world, he learns there is a price to pay to find success.Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 5 october 2016 cinema - (DVD 6 february 2017) - Nothing transcendent here. The subject is common: its originality comes from its treatment in the sphere of rugby. The scenario quickly shows its limits despite actors invested in their roles.
- DirectorRobert ZemeckisStarsBrad PittMarion CotillardJared HarrisIn 1942, a Canadian intelligence officer in North Africa encounters a female French Resistance fighter on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. When they reunite in London, their relationship is tested by the pressures of war.Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 23 november 2016 cinema - (DVD 4 april 2017) - Good actors and beautiful images do not always make a good film. Here, the overly romanticized scenario and a few grotesque scenes ruin everything.
- DirectorHugo GélinStarsOmar SyClémence PoésyAntoine BertrandA bachelor enjoys his sweet life on the French Riviera until a one-night stand tells him, he's dad to Gloria and leaves her with him. He moves to London with Gloria. Mom turns up 8 years later.Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 7 december 2016 cinema - (DVD 7 april 2017) - Omar Sy overacts in a remake of a Mexican film. Even though the story is beautiful, the dialogues are clumsy. Everything is done to bring a tear to your eye but better to watch the original film.
- DirectorM. Night ShyamalanStarsJames McAvoyAnya Taylor-JoyHaley Lu RichardsonThree girls are kidnapped by a man with a diagnosed 23 distinct personalities. They must try to escape before the apparent emergence of a frightful new 24th.Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 22 february 2017 cinema - (DVD 27 june 2017) - Not 24 personalities but almost 5 - I found the main character disturbing but also annoying - An ending too predictable for me
- DirectorKelly ReichardtStarsMichelle WilliamsKristen StewartLaura DernThe lives of three women intersect in small-town America, where each is imperfectly blazing a trail.Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 22 february 2017 cinema - (DVD 6 september 2017) - 4 women featured in 3 stories. The landscapes are splendid. The actresses and actors play well. The problem comes from the lack of binding in the scenario and that the stories are more or less captivating.
- DirectorAnne-Gaëlle DavalStarsFlorence ForestiMathieu KassovitzNicole GarciaLucie is in remission and her illness is almost a distant memory. Her family pushes her to live life to the fullest, and in doing so Lucie meets the charming and arrogant Clovis, who is immediately beguiled by her wit and humor. It is Dalila, however, an eccentric and delightful dance teacher, who inspires Lucie to rebuild her life and to grow into the woman she always wanted to be. For her mother, for her daughter, for Clovis.Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 8 march 2017 cinema - (DVD 18 july 2017) - This story based on good feelings is not transcendent. Nice, it lacks depth so that the message remains engraved.
- DirectorZach BraffStarsMichael CaineAlan ArkinAnn-MargretDesperate to pay their bills and support their loved ones, lifelong pals Willy Davis, Albert Gardner, and Joe Harding risk it all by robbing the bank that absconded with the pension money that they earned from working there for years.Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 3 may 2017 cinema - (DVD 6 september 2017) - A sympathic remake of a classic. Good actors but I'd rather like watching the classic film
- DirectorAlejandro MonteverdeStarsJakob SalvatiEmily WatsonDavid HenrieAn eight-year-old boy is willing to do whatever it takes to end World War II so he can bring his father home. The story reveals the indescribable love a father has for his little boy and the love a son has for his father.Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 10 may 2017 cinema - (DVD 17 october 2017) - A film that is easy to watch. I liked the moments of complicity between the young actor and his father then with the Japanese refugee. I liked less the overflow of good feelings which detract from my final appreciation.
- DirectorGuy RitchieStarsCharlie HunnamAstrid Bergès-FrisbeyJude LawRobbed of his birthright, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy - whether he likes it or not.Rate 5 - Mostly not interesting - Poor / French release date 17 may 2017 cinema - (DVD 30 september 2017) - Too many special effects and anachronisms, it's unbearable
- DirectorPatrick HughesStarsRyan ReynoldsSamuel L. JacksonGary OldmanOne of the world's top bodyguards gets a new client, a world class hitman who must testify at the International Criminal Court. They must put their differences aside and work together to make it to the trial alive and on time.Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 23 august 2017 cinema - (DVD 2 january 2018) - Entertaining but not unforgettable. The initial idea is not bad but the direction and the screenplay are flawed.
- DirectorMarc WebbStarsChris EvansMckenna GraceLindsay DuncanFrank, a single man raising his child prodigy niece Mary, is drawn into a custody battle with his mother.Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 13 september 2017 cinema - (DVD 17 january 2018) - Screnwriting a little bit too poor
- DirectorRobert GuédiguianStarsAriane AscarideJean-Pierre DarroussinGérard MeylanThree grown children gathered at the picturesque villa of their dying father reflect on where they are, who they have become, and what they have inherited.Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 29 november 2017 cinema - (DVD 3 april 2018) - A story that becomes confusing because it wants to address too many different topical issues. Full of good feelings, too many good feelings.
- DirectorYann GozlanStarsFrançois CivilOlivier RabourdinManon AzemTo save his loved ones, Tony must use his motorcycle talents for drug deliveries.Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 3 january 2018 cinema - (DVD 1 june 2018) - Original film but very predictable. The tensions are well transcribed in the film but the story struggles to completely captivate us.
- DirectorJaume Collet-SerraStarsLiam NeesonVera FarmigaPatrick WilsonAn insurance salesman/ex-cop is caught up in a life-threatening conspiracy during his daily commute home.Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 24 january 2018 cinema - (DVD 29 may 2018) - Poorly put together, predictable and not revolutionary, this film is nonetheless watchable.
- DirectorMichael GraceyStarsHugh JackmanMichelle WilliamsZac EfronCelebrates the birth of show business and tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation.Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 24 january 2018 cinema - (DVD 2 june 2018) - Often spectacular, the reality of this biotic is unfortunately disguised for its beauty. The film is also however marred by its marshmallow side which makes reality more difficult to envisage.
- DirectorLuca GuadagninoStarsTimothée ChalametArmie HammerMichael StuhlbargIn 1980s Italy, romance blossoms between a seventeen-year-old student and the older man hired as his father's research assistant.Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 28 february 2018 cinema - (DVD 4 july 2018) -A screenwriting too simple and a bland romance. Beautiful landscapes and interesting cinematography are not enough to make me enjoy watching this film.
- DirectorArmando IannucciStarsSteve BuscemiSimon Russell BealeJeffrey TamborMoscow, 1953. After being in power for nearly 30 years, Soviet dictator, Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin, takes ill and quickly dies. Now the members of the Council of Ministers scramble for power.Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 4 april 2018 cinema - (DVD 1 november 2018) - Very good for costumes, sets and images. However, the mix between historical reality and the exaggeration of the facts and the scenario bothers me. We sometimes no longer manage to disentangle the false from the true. I would have personally preferred either an authentic account of the event, or an even more offbeat parody that has nothing to do with reality.
- DirectorJohn Francis DaleyJonathan GoldsteinStarsJason BatemanRachel McAdamsKyle ChandlerA group of friends who meet regularly for game nights find themselves entangled in a real-life mystery when the shady brother of one of them is seemingly kidnapped by dangerous gangsters.Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 30 april 2018 cinema - (DVD 22 august 2018) - This mix between comedy and thriller seems to be interesting at first. But, the slightly messy side of the scenario and the overplaying are disappointing.
- DirectorJohn KrasinskiStarsEmily BluntJohn KrasinskiMillicent SimmondsA family struggles for survival in a world where most humans have been killed by blind but noise-sensitive creatures. They are forced to communicate in sign language to keep the creatures at bay.Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 20 june 2018 cinema - (DVD 30 october 2018) -A promising start around an excellent idea. Unfortunately, badly designed creatures, a disappointing plot, a few nonsense (a baby who makes little noise, a 4-year-old child who manages to survive until that age...) spoil this film.
- DirectorQuentin DupieuxStarsBenoît PoelvoordeGrégoire LudigMarc FraizeLouis just found the corpse of a man in front of his apartment building. Taken in for custody by Captain Buron, he finds himself on the wrong end of a surreal interrogation. But how can you prove you are innocent when the cops are crazy?Rate 6 - why not - Nearly good / French release date 4 july 2018 cinema - (DVD 14 november 2018) -A promising film with a good starting idea but very quickly, we become disillusioned because of the heaviness and the lengths. A film that I found endless.
