Jonathan Harshman Winters III was born on November 11, 1925 in Dayton, Ohio. His father, Jonathan Harshman Winters II, was a banker who became an alcoholic after being crushed in the Great Depression. His parents divorced in 1932. Jonathan and his mother then moved to Springfield to live with his grandmother. There his mother remarried and became a radio personality. Jonathan joined the United States Marine Corps during his senior year of high school. Upon his discharge, he entered Kenyon College and later transferred to Dayton Art Institute. Jonathan got his start in show business by winning a talent contest. This led to a children's television show in Dayton in 1950. This led to a game show and a talk show. Denied a requested raise, he moved the family to New York with only $56 in their pocket. Within two months, he was getting night club bookings. He suffered two nervous breakdowns, one in 1959 and another in 1961. He came out of "retirement" to work with director/writer Martin Guigui for Swing (2003) and Cattle Call (2006). Signifying intelligence, eloquence, versatility and quiet intensity, one of the more important, critically acclaimed black actors to gain a Hollywood foothold in the 1970s was Paul Winfield. He was born in 1939 in Dallas, Texas, where he lived in his early years before moving with his family to Los Angeles' Watts district. He showed early promise as a student at Manual Arts High School, earning distinction with several performance awards. As a senior, he earned his first professional acting job and extended his theatrical education with a two-year scholarship to the University of Portland in Oregon. Subsequent scholarships led to his studies at Stanford and Los Angeles City College, among other colleges. He left U.C.L.A. just six credits short of his Bachelor's degree.
Paul's first big break came in 1964 when actor/director Burgess Meredith gave him a role in Le Roi Jones' controversial one-act play "The Dutchman and the Toilet". Director Meredith cast him again four years in "The Latent Heterosexual" with Zero Mostel. Although he won a contract at Columbia Pictures in 1966 and built up his on-camera career with a succession of television credits, he continued to focus on the legitimate stage. A member of the Stanford Repertory Theatre, he concentrated on both classic and contemporary plays. In 1969, Paul joined the Inner City Cultural Center Theatre in Los Angeles for two years, which offered a drama program for high school students.
In the late 1960s, Paul redirected himself back to performing on television and in films with guest work in more than 40 series on the small screen, including a boyfriend role on the first season of the landmark black sitcom Julia (1968) starring Diahann Carroll. In films, he was given a featured role in the Sidney Poitier film The Lost Man (1969), and earned comparable roles in R.P.M. (1970) and Brother John (1971) before major stardom occurred.
1972 proved to be a banner year for Paul after winning the male lead opposite Cicely Tyson in the touching classic film Sounder (1972). His towering performance as a sharecropper who is imprisoned and tortured for stealing a ham for his impoverished family earned him an Oscar nomination for "Best Actor" -- the third black actor (Sidney Poitier and James Earl Jones preceded him) to receive such an honor at the time.
From there a host of films and quality television roles began arriving on his doorstep. In mini-movies, Paul portrayed various historical/entertainment giants including Thurgood Marshall, Don King and baseball's Roy Campanella, and was Emmy-nominated for his portrayal of Martin Luther King, Jr. in King (1978) with Sounder co-star Cicely Tyson as wife Coretta. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, he earned solid distinction in such prestige projects as Backstairs at the White House (1979), Roots: The Next Generations (1979) (another Emmy nomination), The Sophisticated Gents (1981), The Blue and the Gray (1982), Sister, Sister (1982), James Baldwin's Go Tell It on the Mountain (1985), Under Siege (1986) and The Women of Brewster Place (1989).
Although the big screen did not offer the same consistent quality following his breakthrough with Sounder, he nevertheless turned in strong roles in Conrack (1974), Huckleberry Finn (1974), A Hero Ain't Nothin' But a Sandwich (1977) (again with Ms. Tyson), Damnation Alley (1977), Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982) and White Dog (1982).
Surprisingly, Paul never achieved the promise of a Sidney Poitier-like stardom and his roles diminished in size. Relegated to character roles, he still appeared in such quality television as Breathing Lessons (1994), although he was not the major focus. After two nominations, he finally won the Emmy for a guest performance as a judge on Picket Fences (1992). Paul's showier work at this period of time included the film Catfish in Black Bean Sauce (1999) and a surprise cross-dressing cameo as Aunt Matilda in Relax... It's Just Sex (1998).
On stage, Paul graced such productions as "Richard III" (at New York's Lincoln Center Theatre), "Othello", "The Merry Wives of Windsor", "The Seagull", "A Few Good Men", "Happy Endings" and "Checkmates", which became his sole Broadway credit. Paul also served as Artist in Residence at the University of Hawaii and subsequently at the University of California at Santa Barbara.
In his final years, Winfield narrated the A&E crime series City Confidential (1998), appeared as a teacher in a television adaptation of his earlier success Sounder (2003), and enjoyed a recurring role as Sam for many years on the series Touched by an Angel (1994).
Suffering from obesity and diabetes in later life, Paul Winfield passed away from a heart attack at age 64 in 2004, and was survived by a sister, Patricia. His longtime companion of 30 years, set designer and architect Charles Gillan Jr. predeceased him by two years.- Actor

Max Casella was born in Washington D.C. to David Deitch, a fiercely political journalist and second-generation Jewish immigrant to The Bronx, and Doris Casella, a social worker and activist from Long Island and daughter of Italian fashion designer John Casella.
His father's writing for The Boston Globe, among other publications, took the family of four to Cambridge, Massachusetts, where they lived through Max's high school years.
Casella's acting career began with iconic roles; he filmed Disney's Newsies while on set breaks from playing Vinnie Delpino on the series Doogie Howser, M.D., and has since added every category to his arsenal, from Broadway, Shakespeare and an Ethan Coen play on stage, festival hits to blockbusters in film, video game voicing, and many memorable characters in culturally-iconic period television shows.
Most recently, Max starred in the Onur Tukel masked indie film Scenes From an Empty Church made during quarantine, opposite Blake Lively and Jude Law in The Rhythm Section directed by Reed Morano, and in Sundance favorites Late Night by Mindy Kaling and Night Comes On, starring Dominique Fishback and directed by Jordana Spiro. Other film credits include the Academy Award-nominated Jackie with Natalie Portman, Woody Allen titles Wonder Wheel and Blue Jasmine with Cate Blanchett, Ben Affleck's crime drama Live By Night, Spike Lee's Oldboy, the Coen Brothers' Inside Llewyn Davis, Tukel's Applesauce, The Last of Robin Hood (as legendary director Stanley Kubrick), Andrew Dominik's Killing Them Softly, Sam Mendes' Revolutionary Road, Harold Ramis' Analyze This with Robert DeNiro, Tim Burton's Ed Wood, and Newsies. As a filmmaker himself, he's collaborated with friends on independent marvels, most notably a folkloric showcase of Italian musicians by John Turturro called Passioné.
On television, Casella spent five seasons on The Sopranos as Benny Fazio and was a series regular on HBO's Vinyl, as well as in Woody Allen's Crisis In Six Scenes, NBC's Shades of Blue, and HBO's Boardwalk Empire. He recurs on Amazon's award-winning The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and on seasons of Ray Donovan and TBS' The Detour.
Casella made his Broadway debut as Timon in the original cast of Julie Taymor's Tony Award-winning musical The Lion King, for which he received a Theatre World Award for Outstanding Broadway Debut and a Drama Desk Nomination. Often getting cast in shows for which he plays multiple roles, his many stage credits include Ethan Coen's collection of vignettes 'A Play is A Poem' with the Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles, Simon McBurney's stage adaptation of the Robert Evans autobiography 'The Kid Stays In The Picture' at the Royal Court Theatre in London, Public Theatre's Shakespeare in the Park production of 'Troilus And Cressida', and as Nick Bottom in Julie Taymor's critically acclaimed production of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' at Theatre for a New Audience, which was filmed for theatrical release by Academy Award-nominated cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto. As a member of the LAByrinth Theater Company, he starred alongside Ellen Burstyn in The Atmosphere of Memory, and at BAM in Endgame with again longtime collaborator John Turturro; they as well led Souls of Naples, which then toured to Italy as the country's beloved play. Later in Italy, Max starred in and curated music for John's and his adaptation (with Katherine Borowitz and Carl Capatorto) of author Italo Calvino's folk tales, Fiabe Italiane.
An animated storyteller and illustrator, Max is writing a TV series and other works about being raised by raucous iconoclasts while living with pituitary dwarfism, a hormonal condition that inhibits growth, and that in fact accounted for his eligibility for many of the roles he landed as a "child actor" when in his twenties.
He has two children, Mia and Gioia, with educator and set teacher Leona Casella.- Actor

Andrew Sachs born Andreas Siegfried Sachs was born in Berlin, Germany, he and his family emigrated to London in 1938, to escape persecution under the Nazis. He made his name on British television and rose to fame in the 1970s for his portrayals of the comical Spanish waiter Manuel in Fawlty Towers (1975), a role for which he was BAFTA nominated.
He went on to have a long career in acting and voice-over work for television, film and radio. In his later years, he continued to have success with roles in films such as Quartet, and as Ramsay Clegg in Coronation Street.
Sachs was born in Berlin, Germany, the son of Katharina (née Schrott-Fiecht), a librarian, and Hans Emil Sachs, an insurance broker. His father was Jewish and his mother was Catholic, and of half-Austrian descent. He left with his parents for Britain in 1938, when he was eight years old, to escape the Nazis. They settled in north London, and he lived in Kilburn for the rest of his life.
In 1960, Sachs married Melody Lang, who appeared in one episode of Fawlty Towers, "Basil the Rat", as Mrs. Taylor. He adopted her two sons from a previous marriage, John Sachs and William Sachs, and they had one daughter, Kate Sachs.
In the late 1950s, whilst still studying shipping management at college, Sachs worked on radio productions, including Private Dreams and Public Nightmares by Frederick Bradnum, an early experimental programme made by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.
Sachs began in acting with repertory theatre and made his West End debut as Grobchick in the 1958 production of the Whitehall farce Simple Spymen. He made his screen debut in 1959 in the film The Night We Dropped a Clanger. He then appeared in numerous television series throughout the 1960s, including some appearances in ITC productions such as The Saint (1962) and Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) (1969).
Sachs is best known for his role as Manuel, the Spanish waiter in the sitcom Fawlty Towers (1975 and 1979). During the shooting of the Fawlty Towers episode "The Germans", Sachs was left with second degree acid burns due to a fire stunt. He was hit with a faulty prop on the set of the show by John Cleese and suffered a massive headache.
Sachs recorded four singles in character as Manuel; the first was "Manuel's Good Food Guide" in 1977, which came in a picture sleeve with Manuel on the cover. Sachs also had a hand in writing (or adapting) the lyrics. This was followed in 1979 by "O Cheryl" with "Ode to England" on the B side. This was recorded under the name "Manuel and Los Por Favors". Sachs shares the writing credits for the B side with "B. Wade", who also wrote the A side.
In 1981, "Manuel" released a cover version of Joe Dolce's number one in the United Kingdom "Shaddap You Face", with "Waiter, there's a Flea in my Soup" on the B side. Sachs also adapted "Shaddap You Face" into Spanish, but was prevented from releasing it before Dolce's version by a court injunction. When finally released it reached 138 in the UK Chart.
In 2007, the BBC broadcast an adaptation of Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency with Sachs portraying Reg (Professor Urban Chronotis, the Regius Professor of Chronology). He would later appear in another Adams adaptation as the Book in the live tour of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy during its run at Bromley's Churchill Theatre.
On 17 November 2008, it was announced that Sachs had been approached to appear in ITV soap Coronation Street. He later confirmed on 14 December that he was taking up the offer, saying, "I'm taking Street challenge". In May 2009 he made his debut on the street as Norris' brother, Ramsay. He appeared in 27 episodes and left in August 2009.
With the Australian pianist Victor Sangiorgio, he toured with a two man show called "Life after Fawlty", which included Richard Strauss's voice and piano setting of Alfred, Lord Tennyson's poem "Enoch Arden". 2012 saw his last major role, as Bobby Swanson in the movie Quartet.
Sachs was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2012, which eventually left him unable to speak and forced him to use a wheelchair. He died on 23 November 2016 at the Denville Hall nursing home in Northwood, London, England. He was buried on 1 December 2016, the same day his death was publicly announced.
On 2 December 2016, BBC One broadcast the Fawlty Towers episode "Communication Problems" in his memory. John Cleese led tributes to Sachs, describing him as a "sweet, sweet man"- Actor

Ashleigh Ball is a Canadian voice actress and musician from Vancouver. As a musician, she is primarily known as a singer and flutist for the alternative rock band "Hey Ocean!" (2004-). As a voice actress she is primarily known for voicing two of the main characters of the long-running fantasy series "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" (2010-2019). She voiced the stubborn apple farmer Applejack and the overconfident speedster Rainbow Dash, both of them being tomboy characters. Ball voiced alternate reality versions of the two characters in four "Equestria Girls" films (2013-2016) and several television specials. These versions were depicted as adolescent musicians, with emerging magical powers.
Ball's first significant voice role was that of adolescent inventor Mary Test in the science fantasy series "Johhny Test". She voiced the character from 2006 to 2014, while the character was previously voiced by Brittney Wilson. For the same series, Ball voiced the character of Sissy Blakley, who served as both a rival and a love interest to the protagonist.
Ball voiced the accident-prone Oopsy Bear in the short-lived series "Care Bears: Adventures in Care-a-lot" (2007-2008). It was the third television series based on the "Care Bares" franchise. Oopsy had been introduced in the computer-animated film "Care Bears: Oopsy Does It!" (2007), with Ball as his voice actress.
In 2008, Ball voiced recurring antagonist Kirstee in the second and last season of the series "Bratz" (2005-2008). Ball replaced Kaley Cuoco, who had voiced the character in the first season. Kirstee worked as an intern for fashion magazine "Your Thing", while the protagonists worked for a rival magazine. They antagonized each other for both personal and professional reasons.
Ball had the recurring role of Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff in the second season of the superhero series "Iron Man: Armored Adventures" (2009-2012). This version of the character was initially depicted as a professional thief. After being captured by the covert organization SHIELD, she was recruited into their ranks. She had been given the option of either working for them, or serving a long prison sentence.
Ball voiced regular character Plum Pudding in "Strawberry Shortcake's Berry Bitty Adventures" (2010-2015). Her character was depicted as a professional dancer and the owner of her own dance studio. Plum had a competitive streak, and a quick temper. Ball also voiced Princess Allura in "Voltron Force" (2011-2012). This version of the character struggled between her duties as a pilot and as a head of state for the planet Arus. She eventually chose her niece Larmina as a replacement pilot.
Ball voiced co-protagonist Princess Talia in the English version of the magical girl series "LoliRock" (2014-2017). Talia was depicted as the most serious, disciplined, intelligent, and goal-oriented member of a team of magical girls. She blamed herself because her older sister Izira was defeated and captured by a foe, while Talia was attending a festival. She figured that she had to train hard in order to avenge her sister.
By 2022, Ball was 39-years-old. She has gained a cult following for her relatively high-profile voice roles. Fans of her voice acting have at times become interested in her music releases, and she has performed music at fan conventions. She has never stopped working regularly, and she seems to have no plans to retire yet.- Actor

Andrea Libman is a Canadian actress from Toronto. She has often worked as a voice actress in animated works. Her best known roles were the regular characters Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie in the long-running fantasy series "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" (2010-2019) and most of its spin-offs.
Her major characters were noted for their contradictory traits. Fluttershy was typically depicted as soft-spoken, gentle and caring towards nearly all animals, and extremely loyal towards her relatively few friends. But when acting sternly and assertively, she could intimidate fellow ponies, cockatrices, and giant dragons. Several episodes also explored Fluttershy's anger-management issues, as she had several instances of explosive rage. Pinkie Pie was typically depicted as an excitable and fun-loving baker, party organizer, and entertainer. She considered it her life's goal to bring joy to nearly everyone she met. But several episodes explored Pinkie's insecurities, her fears that her friends did not respect her or that they would eventually abandon her, and her self-doubt when confronted with skilled rivals.
Libman has had several other notable roles in animation. She voiced Ikuko Otonashi in the English dub of "Maison Ikkoku" (1986-1988). The character was depicted as the young niece of the series' female lead, Kyoko Otonashi. Libman voiced the rebellious girl Penny in the animated film "Dragon Ball: Curse of the Blood Rubies" (1986). Her character sought help to overthrow the tyrannical regime of King Gurumes. Libman also voiced the child version of the regular character Chi-Chi in the Ocean dub of "Dragon Ball" (1986-1989). The character was initially depicted as a tough and temperamental girl, who grew up to become the wife of protagonist Goku. The adult Chi-Chi's main goal was to remind her superhuman husband and son to not neglect the challenges and obligations of normal life while pursuing adventures.
Libman voiced the sentient gynoid (female android) Roll in the OVA series "Mega Man: Upon a Star" (1993-1994). Roll is typically depicted as the sister of the protagonist Mega Man, though her age and personality vary wildly in adaptations of the Mega Man video game series. Libman voiced the Parisian boarding school girl Madeline in the second and third seasons of "The New Adventures of Madeline" (1993-2001). The series was based on a series of children's books by Ludwig Bemelmans. Libman also voiced the female dinosaur LaBrea in "Dino Babies" (1994-1996). Her character was the only female character among the series' 6 co-protagonists.
Libman voiced the younger version of the regular character AndrAIa in "ReBoot" (1994-2001), while Sharon Alexander voiced the adult version of the character. The character was depicted as a sentient Game Sprite from an Atlantis-themed game. AndrAIa's design was mermaid-like and she used a trident in combat. She was initially depicted as the new partner and best friend of Enzo Matrix, while she later became Enzo's long-term romantic partner.
Libman voiced Anita in the OVA series "Night Warriors: Darkstalkers' Revenge" (1997-1998), an adaptation of the video game series "Darkstalkers". In this media franchise, Anita was typically depicted as an emotionally detached orphan girl with unexplained psychic powers. She was the young ward and surrogate daughter of the vampire hunter Donovan Baine, who had rescued her life in their first encounter and then decided to become her self-appointed protector.
Libman voiced the co-protagonist Emmy in "Dragon Tales" (1999-2005). Her character was depicted as a 6-year-old human girl who used magic to travel to the fantasy world of Dragon Land, and befriended several young dragons. Her best friend was the female dragon Cassie. Emmy was depicted as athletic and intelligent, but impulsive. Libman voiced the human girl Lemony in "Yakkity Yak" (2002-2003). Her character was the love interest of the anthropomorphic pineapple Keo, and the best friend of the sentient robot Penelope (voiced by Tabitha St. Germain).
Libman was the first voice actress to voice the original character X-23 in a 2003 episode of "X-Men: Evolution". Her character was depicted in the series as a female clone of Wolverine, created by the espionage organization HYDRA. X-23 was depicted as a living weapon, who was "trying to become a real little girl". A new version of the character was soon introduced in Marvel's comic books, and eventually became a popular character in her own right. The comic book version of X-23/Laura Kinney was also initially depicted as a female clone of Wolverine, but she was later revealed to be his biological daughter.
Libman voiced Zipzee, a female Breezie (insect-like pony), in several direct-to video films of the Generation 3 incarnation of "My Little Pony". Libman started depicting the character in 2006. Zipzee was depicted as mainly interested in tending to her flowers, though she was allergic to pollen. Libman voiced the recurring character of Toodles Galore in a few episodes of "Tom and Jerry Tales" (2006-2008). Her character was depicted as an attractive white female cat, and the main love interest for co-protagonist Tom Cat.
Libman voiced the young technician Mileina Vashti in the second and last season of "Mobile Suit Gundam 00" (2007-2009). Mileina was depicted as an expert in electronics, robotics, physics, and mechanical engineering, but was frustrated at having to deal with repetitive tasks. She was romantically interested in the enigmatic Tieria Erde, despite the fact that his disembodied consciousness survived only within a computer.
Libman voiced the candy-maker Harmony Bear in "Care Bears: Adventures in Care-a-lot" (2007-2010). Her character was part of the series' supporting cast. Harmony was also depicted in this series as the lead vocalist of the music group "Care Bear Honeys". Libman voiced the unicorn Sweetie Belle in the animated short films "My Little Pony: Meet the Ponies" (2008), which were created to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the "My Little Pony" franchise. Sweetie Belle was depicted as the only unicorn in Ponyville.
Libman voiced the co-protagonist Cathy Smith in "Monster Buster Club" (2008-2009). Cathy was a humanoid alien who had settled on Earth and had taken a human form. She appeared to be a normal 12-year-old girl, but she was actually 250 years and belonged to a species with long lifespans. She was still an adolescent by the standards of her species. Her superhuman powers included the ability to stretch her limbs and to communicate through telepathy.
Libman voiced the hairstylist and inventor Lemon Meringue in "Strawberry Shortcake's Berry Bitty Adventures" (2010-2015). Lemon was depicted as creative and quick-thinking, but single-minded in the pursuit of her goals and overly competitive . In the 4th season of the series, Libman also voiced the new character of Sweet Grapes. The character was rather optimistic in trying to improve the mood and behavior of her twin sister Sour Grapes, who was perpetually in a foul mood and rarely demonstrated affection for others (including Sweet).
Libman voiced the anthropomorphic bee Maya in "Maya the Bee" (2012-2017). The series was an adaptation of the children's book "The Adventures of Maya the Bee" (1912) by Waldemar Bonsels, which has received several adaptations in the century following its original publication. In the original novel, Maya was exiled from her hive due to her interest in exploration. She remained loyal to her hive, and warned them in advance of a hornet attack on the bees.
Libman voiced the regular character of Cylindria in "Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures" (2013-2015). Cylindria was the bespectacled best friend of the heroic Pac-Man, and the brains behind some of his operations. A subplot of the series was that people assumed that Pac and Cylindria were romantically involved, despite Cylindria's seeming lack of interest in romance. The female ghost Pinky viewed Cylindria as her main rival in winning Pac's affection.
Libman voiced Bramble the Kelpie in a 2018 episode of "DuckTales". Kelpies are shape-shifting water spirits in Scottish folklore, often in horse form. They supposedly carried many riders into the depths of the waters in order to drown them. In the episode, Bramble and her ally Briar tried repeatedly to win the trust of the Duck family and their companions in order to lure them to their death. Since the Ducks were aware of the nature of kelpies, the plan never worked. The design of Bramble was based on the form of Twilight Sparkle, the protagonist of "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic".
By 2022, Libman was 38-years-old. She has had an active career since the 1990s, and seems to have no interest in retiring yet. She has gained a fan following due to her many memorable characters in animated series, and her connection to several long-running franchises. She seems likely to gain further key roles in animated works.- Actor
