Fortunately, Mammy has just put out a huge Thanksgiving feast, just ready for the raiding. And that's just what Jerry and Nibbles do, grabbing Pilgrim hats from the table decorations. All goes fairly well until Nibbles eats a whole orange, which is way too big for him. Jerry smacks him with a spoon, which sends the orange flying, right into Tom's mouth. Tom stalks up to the table in a feather duster, which turns into an Indian headdress. Battle follows, featuring Tom sending flaming cat-tails after the mice, and culminating in a champagne bottle launching Tom into the dish cabinet, which crashes down. Tom waves a white flag, and all three sit down to a polite dinner, but Nibbles eats the whole turkey before anyone else can touch it.

He only succeeds in catching a news magazine which has an article about movie star, Woody Woodpecker who says, "Southern cooking is my favorite!" The crafty gator lures the woodpecker to his shack with a letter promising him a luxurious feast. As it turns out, the luxurious feast turns out to be HIM! He discovers the scheme and angrily leaves but the gator fools him into thinking a hurricane is approaching and encourages him to take shelter... in his barbecue pit! Fearing for his life, Woody realizes, "I gotta keep this cat groovy or I'll wind up in the gravy!" Woody tells the gator he really isn't much of a meal but he can make him a nicy juicy "swamp steak"... which turns out to be Gabby's tail. After biting into the "Swamp steak", Gabby leaps in pain and lands, getting stuck in a pot which Woody exclaims to be "Potted swamp steak"!

Finally, Charlie captures the turkey and beats it senseless. Feeling bad, he revives it and they make up. He decides to have hot dogs for Sunday dinner instead.

Doc invents a number of ways to get past Cecil (sawing a hole around the fridge from the basement, feeding Cecil knockout drops, trying to catapult the fridge out of the kitchen), finally putting roller skates on Cecil enabling him to make off with the turkey. So, Daffy pretends to care for the turkey's welfare and warns the turkey off the food, and he urges the turkey to lose weight so that the hill billies won't want to slaughter him. Daffy gorges himself on the food while acting as coach to the turkey, who is frantically and strenuously trying to reduce himself. When Thanksgiving comes, the turkey is toothpick-thin, and the hillbilly father turns his hungry sights on an overweight Daffy!
