- DirectorAlfonso CuarónStarsDaniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintHarry Potter, Ron and Hermione return to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for their third year of study, where they delve into the mystery surrounding an escaped prisoner who poses a dangerous threat to the young wizard. This was a close call, because I did really love DH part 2, but I am a huge admirer of Alfonso Cuaron and I just really loved the work he did on this film and how he worked off the Columbus films.
- DirectorDavid YatesStarsDaniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintHarry, Ron, and Hermione search for Voldemort's remaining Horcruxes in their effort to destroy the Dark Lord as the final battle rages on at Hogwarts. This movie might not have been the most faithful adaptation, but it is a solid conclusion to a beloved film series. Really great execution and really strong performances.
- DirectorDavid YatesStarsDaniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintAs Harry, Ron and Hermione race against time and evil to destroy the Horcruxes, they uncover the existence of the three most powerful objects in the wizarding world: the Deathly Hallows.I used to hate this one the most, but now I realize how underappreciated it. There are a few moments that tend to be misunderstood by people. I really liked the darker and more mature tone that this had, plus the violence also emphasize how serious the threat has become. The cinematography also emphasizes the sense of unease that this film had.
- DirectorDavid YatesStarsDaniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintWith their warning about Lord Voldemort's return scoffed at, Harry and Dumbledore are targeted by the Wizard authorities as an authoritarian bureaucrat slowly seizes power at Hogwarts.Another great entry in the series. It was well adapted and had pretty good performances. Plus, that last battle with Dumbledore and Voldemort was probably one of the best moments in the franchise.
- DirectorMike NewellStarsDaniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintHarry Potter finds himself competing in a hazardous tournament between rival schools of magic, but he is distracted by recurring nightmares.I understand why people hate this film more than the others, but this was the first Harry Potter film I saw, and it got me reading the books and seeing the other movies.
- DirectorChris ColumbusStarsDaniel RadcliffeRupert GrintEmma WatsonAn orphaned boy enrolls in a school of wizardry, where he learns the truth about himself, his family and the terrible evil that haunts the magical world.A really great start to this series and really does a great job at world building, but the plot at times can feel like it's not there. Still, I think this is a great way to setup such an iconic series.
- DirectorChris ColumbusStarsDaniel RadcliffeRupert GrintEmma WatsonHarry Potter lives his second year at Hogwarts with Ron and Hermione when a message on the wall announces that the legendary Chamber of Secrets has been opened. The trio soon realize that, to save the school, it will take a lot of courage. This was the movie that I hated the most initially, because it almost felt like it was retreading the last movie. But I went back to rewatch it a few times and realized that despite its issues it was still a fairly entertaining.
- DirectorDavid YatesStarsDaniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintAs Harry Potter begins his sixth year at Hogwarts, he discovers an old book marked as "the property of the Half-Blood Prince" and begins to learn more about Lord Voldemort's dark past.In defense of this movie, it was by no means bad. It used to be one of my favorites. It did have a strong plot build up in the beginning. In the second half however the plot sort of starts to feel a little unfocused where it should be. Also, the ending lacked the intensity and brutality that the book had, which bothered me the most. Although this movie had more humor, it seemed to get carried away with it at times.
