- DirectorManfred UhligStarsEimear BurkeEamonn P. KellyAxel PosluschnyDruids have existed far longer than hitherto assumed, since the 4th century BC. Their traces are found all over middle Europe: from the northern Balkans to Ireland. Their cultural achievements were equal in almost every way to those of the Romans and Greeks: They could read and write and spoke Greek and Latin - for centuries, they were the powerful elite of their culture. Only one single Druid is known by name to history: Diviciacos - an aristocrat of the Aedui and personal friend of Julius Caesar. Diviciacos was a politician, a judge and a diplomat, but he lived at a time when the Celtic lands of Gaul were conquered by the Romans. Greek and Roman contemporaries distrusted the actions of this forbear of the famous comic book druid Getafix: They imagined him in bloody rituals in somber woods. For a long time, scholars thought the tales of human sacrifices were Roman propaganda. Archaeologists were all the more surprised when actually finding a Celtic ritual site in the Swabian Jura that contained traces of human sacrifices. Today, the druids' spirituality still serves as an example for many people. For the past 300 years, there has been a Neo-Druidry.

- StarsNeil OliverBarry CunliffePhilip CrummyIn four chapters, largely based on and illustrated with archaeological finds and sites, Neil Oliver explains how, as far as is known, the Iron Age Celtic tribes known as the Ancient Britains evolved and entered European civilization. Their internecine tribal phase was warlike and partitioned. Overseas contacts, especially metal trade, brought wealth and progress. Ultimately, it attracted the superior Roman empire, which would conquer and pacify Britain into a province, like Gaul shortly before, but Caesar's invasion wasn't the definitive annexation yet, that was left to emperor Claudius; even afterward some Celtic traits and even rebellions remained.

- Like others in the Visions series, this is filmed gorgeously, although the helicopter's shadow is intrusive in a couple of places, something that probably is difficult to avoid in some cases. Also, the zigzag sequencing of locations was a little disconcerting for the geographically inclined in my family. The music, a mix of traditional and modern, is good but not outstanding. Given the musical legacy of the Scots and modern Scots' importance to and influence on the UK (and therefore world) music industry, I had hoped for something a little more stirring and adventurous, but the score is pleasant, and this is an enjoyable travelogue. Scotland is beyond beautiful, and this DVD displays many of its fabulous lochs, Ben's (mountains), castles and cities very well.
- This is an intensely interesting production. The tourist, the lover of the romantic, and the student will find the scenes of picturesque beauty, sublime, awe-inspiring, wild, weird and magnificent. No collection of scenic subjects is complete without this film. Photographic quality is unexcelled.

- DirectorPhilippe TourancheauAt Carnac, in the Morbihan, the multitude of menhirs continues to question archaeologists. The most recent scientific research has identified dozens of new alignments of stones, some of which lie under the sea. Why, in the Neolithic period, did men erect gigantic funerary monuments at Carnac, to the glory of dignitaries as powerful as the Pharaohs? From often minute clues, scientists try to pierce the grey areas that still remain on this site and this unique society that radiated and disappeared suddenly in the heart of Brittany.
