The most successful woman director of Mexican cinema studied Sociology at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and Film Production at the University Center of Film Studies (CUEC) in Mexico City. She began her career as assistant director of Alberto Cortés in Amor a la vuelta de la esquina (1984). After some live-action shorts made in Super 8 and 16 mm., Novaro made Azul celeste (1988), a short about a pregnant woman looking for her husband in Mexico City. This short was an episode of a feature film called Historias de la ciudad (1988). Lola (1989) was her first feature film, followed by Danzón (1991), the short Otoñal (1992) and Jardín del edén, El (1994). Novaro has been considered an expressionist director because of the importance of colors in her films. Her work has been praised in Europe, specially in Spain, France and the United Kingdom. In Mexico she's considered a pioneer in an industry mostly dominated by men. Danzon was an instant hit in Mexico and was well received overseas.- Writer

Guerrero started her career with several genre short films including gore-fest El Gigante, and viral hits like A Luchagore Christmas and Evil Dead in 60 seconds. In 2014, Guerrero participated in the Mexican horror anthology Mexico Bárbaro with its Day of the Dead segment while still in film school. Her series with Warner Brothers/Stage 13, La Quinceañera, won the Audience Award at the 2017 Morbido Film Festival.

Marialy Rivas is a Chilean director. Her work includes two feature films, "Joven y Alocada" and "Princesita," three short films, "Blokes," "Melody," and "Desde Siempre," commercials, music videos, and several episodes for TV shows such as HBO's "Perry Mason" and BBC's "The Jetty."
Her work has been selected in festivals worldwide, including Cannes, Sundance, Berlinale, Toronto International Film Festival, New York Film Festival, San Sebastian, Stockholm Film Festival, Havana, and Bafici.

Academy Awards® Nominee Director and Producer, she is the first Chilean women to be nominated to the Oscars. She has developed a particular style that is characterized by the intimate portrait of small worlds, her renowned label has led her to be one of the most important voices of Latin American documentary.
In 2011 she released his first feature film "The Lifeguard". Through Micromundo Producciones, her production company, she directed her second film "La Once", which has won more than 12 international awards, and was nominated for the 2016 Goya for Best Ibero-American Film. In 2016 she released the short film "I am not from here" nominated for the European Films Award and also premiered her third feature film "The Grown-Ups" that got 10 international awards. Julia Solomonoff is an Argentine filmmaker with an MFA in Film from Columbia University, New York. She is currently Distinguished Lecturer and Head of Directing at Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema, Brooklyn College. She previously taught Film Directing at NYU Tisch School of the Arts and Columbia University MFA Program. She is a Fulbright and PEO Scholar. In 2011, the Film Society of Lincoln Center celebrated her work in a special showcase of her shorts and features. She wrote, directed and co-produced "The Last Summer of la Boyita" (El último verano de la Boyita", 2009), co-produced by Almodovar's El Deseo (Spain) and Epicentre Films (France), winner of over twenty international awards including Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay. She developed the screenplay at Fundacion Carolina/Casa de Americas, Madrid Writers' residency. Her directorial debut, "Sisters" (Hermanas, 2005) opened at the Toronto Film Festival, her original script was developed at the Sundance Writers' Lab. It was produced by Vanessa Ragone, Walter Salles and Tornasol (Spain). Solomonoff also produced Alejandro Landes' documentary "Cocalero" following Evo Morales during Bolivia's historic Presidential election which premiered at Sundance 2007 and Julia Murat's debut film "Historias que existem quando lembradas" (Brazil, Argentina, France, 2011) selected at Venice, Toronto, San Sebastian and Rotterdam winner of over 25 international awards. She is Associate Producer of "Everybody's Got a Plan" directed by Ana Piterbarg, staring Viggo Mortensen, which premiered at Toronto 2012 and "The Third Bank of the River" directed by Celina Murga, produced by Juan Villegas, Peter Rommel, Exec producer Martin Scorsese. She is producing Alessandra Sanguinetti's documentary "The Illusion of an Everlasting Summer" (2020) Her television work as a director includes: "Parana, chronicles of a River" a series of 13 documentaries following a scientific and cultural expedition on a boat from Buenos Aires to Asunción and "Aerocene Pacha" (2020) a four episode documentary series following Tomas Saraceno's project. Previously, she has directed the mockumentary "Chin Chon Fan" and a fiction piece for PBS, "The Suitor" based on a story by Julia Alvarez, winner of Grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Corporation of Public Broadcasting and Latino Public Broadcasting. During 2009 she was Creative Consultant for Canal Encuentro, the National Educational TV station of Argentina. She was the 1st AD on Walter Salles' "Motorcycle Diaries" and has collaborated with such well-regarded directors as Isabel Coixet, Fabian Bielinsky, Dan Algrant, Carlos Sorín, Luis Puenzo and Martin Rejtman. In 2002 Carlos Sorin casted Solomonoff in a supporting role in "Intimate Stories" (Historias Mínimas) for which she was nominated "New Actress of the Year". Solomonoff is an Advisor for the prestigious McDowell Foundation. She participated as a juror of Miami, Zurich, NEFIAC, Seville and Argentina's Women Film Festival and was in selection comittees of Sundance/Toscano, INCAA and ARGENTORES. She has taught directing workshops at Columbia University, FUNAVE (Cervantes Institute), NYFA/Femis, France NYFA/Cambridge, UK, CIC, Cievyc and Facultad Libre (Argentina). She is a Berlinale Talent Campus and Berlinale Projkt Market alumni. Her short films won awards from the Director's Guild of America, FIPRESCI, New Line Cinema, Milos Forman Fund, La Mujer y el Cine and her short, "Siesta", was regional nominee for the Student Academy Awards.
