- DirectorEdgar WrightStarsSimon PeggNick FrostKate AshfieldThe uneventful, aimless lives of a London electronics salesman and his layabout roommate are disrupted by the zombie apocalypse.Hilarious comedy with equally hard hitting emotional moments, a must watch
- DirectorSatish KaushikStarsSalman KhanBhoomika ChawlaSachin KhedekarProblems arise when Radhey Mohan, a delinquent falls in love with a girl named Nirjara.Watched this with my friends just to take the piss, very bad indeed
- DirectorEdgar WrightStarsSimon PeggNick FrostMartin FreemanAn overachieving London police sergeant is transferred to a village where the easygoing officers object to his fervor for regulations, all while a string of grisly murders strikes the town.I think I've found my favourite comedy director, probably the best action comedy I've ever seen, it just keeps on getting better
- DirectorEdgar WrightStarsSimon PeggNick FrostMartin FreemanFive friends who reunite in an attempt to top their epic pub crawl from twenty years earlier unwittingly become humanity's only hope for survival.Probably the weakest out of the cornetto trilogy, but still a great movie nonetheless
- DirectorSooraj R. BarjatyaStarsSalman KhanBhagyashree PatwardhanAlok NathAfter Suman's father leaves her in the care of another family while he travels abroad, she falls in love with Prem. However, in order to for them to marry, Prem has to prove to Suman's father that he is not the same as his own dad.Me and my friends just watched it for fun, it was pretty interesting for the first two hours, however, the last hour just felt unnecessarily stretched and boring, wouldn't recommend it for a serious watch, but you could throw the first two hours of this on to take the piss out of it with your mates
- DirectorMeghna GulzarStarsIrrfan KhanKonkona Sen SharmaNeeraj KabiAn experienced investigator confronts several conflicting theories about the perpetrators of a violent double homicide.A chilling retelling of real events, done very respectfully, the ending was a bit rushed but still a great ending nonetheless
- DirectorAnurag KashyapStarsNawazuddin SiddiquiVicky KaushalSobhita DhulipalaRamanna, a maniac murderer, finds a soulmate in Raghavan, a policeman, who inspects his murder cases. He tries to make Raghavan realize how they both are similar.I tried to like this movie, I really did, but there's too much that I can't forgive, the story gets a bit boring, the only thing holding this movie together is Nawazuddin Siddique's acting. Watch it if you want but I wouldn't recommend it
- DirectorHideo NakataStarsHitomi KurokiRio KannoMirei OguchiA mother and her 6-year-old daughter move into a creepy apartment whose every surface is permeated by water. One of the last few great J Horrors. It suffers from a few common horror movie problems, stupid decisions made by characters, but it's still a good watch nonetheless.
- DirectorSujoy GhoshStarsVidya BalanParambrata ChattopadhyayIndraneil SenguptaA pregnant woman's search for her missing husband takes her from London to Kolkata, but everyone she questions denies having ever met him.A great story but suffers from a lot of technical issues, amateur camera work, bad sound effects, horribly disguised ADR, but if you're just a casual watcher I don't think you'll notice any of that so give it a watch.
- DirectorKrishna D.K.Raj NidimoruStarsSaif Ali KhanKunal KemmuVir DasA group of friends, just looking to have a good time in a rave party on a remote island in Goa, find out that the island is infested with Zombies.I'd seen most of this movie here and there when it played on tv but I'd never really seen it all in one go and man... it's so good. It's one of the most clever and hilarious Bollywood comedies I've ever seen. If you have never watched it, I'd genuinely recommend you do.
- DirectorFarah KhanStarsShah Rukh KhanDeepika PadukoneArjun RampalIn the 1970s, Om, an aspiring actor, is murdered, but is immediately reincarnated into the present day. He attempts to discover the mystery of his demise and find Shanti, the love of his previous life.Had the urge to rewatch this one after a really long time and I'm glad I did. The comedy is great, the drama hits hard, and I don't even need to mention the masterpiece that is the music. The costumes are breathtaking as is the production design. There are some continuity and technical aspects that are lacking a little, scenes don't flow into each other that well, but none of that takes away from the movie. It still holds up in my opinion, and is one of my Bollywood guilty pleasure movies for sure
- DirectorAnurag KashyapStarsManoj BajpayeeNawazuddin SiddiquiTigmanshu DhuliaA clash between Sultan and Shahid Khan leads to the expulsion of Khan from Wasseypur, and ignites a deadly blood feud spanning three generations.A long, LONG journey to take, that's ultimately worth it in the end. It's not perfect in any way, the stylized music doesn't work most of the time, the romance drags, but the acting is masterful, the characters are memorable and the long shots are beautiful.
- DirectorSriram RaghavanStarsTabuAyushmann KhurranaRadhika ApteA series of mysterious events change the life of a blind pianist, who must now report a crime that he should technically know nothing of.I LOVED this movie so much, the story is breathtaking, the characters are believable, and for the first time in Bollywood, they're smart. The music is SO SO GOOD. I have a few gripes with the ending, but I'm willing to forgive everything because of the rest of the movie. Watch it right now if you haven't.
- DirectorRahi Anil BarveAnand GandhiAdesh PrasadStarsSohum ShahJyoti MalsheAnita Date-KelkarA mythological story about a goddess who created the entire universe. The plot revolves around the consequences when humans build a temple for her first-born.This movie brings such a refreshing breath to Indian horror that has been missing forever. I loved the concept, The production design is insanely good and the environment and atmosphere is palpable. I would have loved this movie if the main characters had some redeeming aspects to them, but they were so unlikeable that I found myself rooting against them. If it wasn't for that, this movie could've easily been a masterpieces. Still a great watch and fully worth your time, don't sleep on this one for sure
- DirectorAniruddha Roy ChowdhuryStarsAmitabh BachchanTaapsee PannuKirti KulhariWhen three young women are implicated in a crime, a retired lawyer steps forward to help them clear their names.Such a necessary film, the acting is amazing, the story is great. The music feels organic and soulful. My only gripe would be the somewhat choppy editing but it isn't noticeable for the most part. Do watch this for sure.
- DirectorSubhash KapoorStarsAkshay KumarHuma QureshiSaurabh ShuklaJolly is a clumsy lawyer who is faced with representing the most critical court case of his career.I'm a bit torn about this movie. The comedy was great, especially with the judge, but this movie tries to balance such serious themes and it feels like whiplash whenever it switches to the comedy. There's a way to balance serious themes with comedy (Memories of Murder, Talvar) but this movie doesn't do it well. It's still watchable but I wouldn't say it's a MUST watch.
- DirectorAhmed KhanStarsKriti SanonTiger ShroffNawazuddin SiddiquiBabloo Ranawat, a genius hacker, is tasked with tracking down Laila, the mastermind behind the world's largest cyber-crime yet to occur. Will Babloo be able to stop him?*sigh* man I don't really wanna explain why'd I watched this, but I will warn you, please do not watch this. I thought it would be fun for shits and giggles, but alas I was wrong. This isn't the worst movie I've seen all year, it's truly horrendous. Nawazuddin Siddique has given up in this movie, the two main leads are atrocious, the action is boring, I hate this movie, god please forgive me for watching it.
- DirectorThiagarajan KumararajaStarsVijay SethupathiFahadh FaasilSamantha Ruth PrabhuAn unfaithful newly-wed wife, an estranged father, a priest and an angry son suddenly find themselves in the most unexpected predicaments, each poised to experience their destiny, all on one fateful day. What a movie! It's a long one but definitely worth your time. So artistic, so well made and well acted. The messages it gives are great. The cinematography is beautiful and the direction is just perfect. My only gripe came about 3/4ths of the way through the movie but even that was resolved by the end of the movie. PLEASE PLEASE watch this one.
- DirectorVikram K. KumarStarsMadhavanNitu ChandraPoonam DhillonA man experiences a supernatural occurrence at his newly purchased apartment; a soap opera being telecast exclusively on his TV, which shows the future of his family.I'm really conflicted about this one. On one hand the story is engaging with some great acting, but some of the choices made by the director(I assume) were unintentionally funny and took me out of the movie. There's a lot of weird shaky cam for some reason which got annoying pretty fast. The colour grading is kinda weird too but I'll pass it off as an artistic choice. All in all, this is very different from any Indian horror movie I've seen and somewhat refreshing so if you're into that, you can watch it.
- DirectorAamir KhanAmole GupteStarsDarsheel SafaryAamir KhanTisca ChopraAn eight-year-old boy is thought to be a lazy trouble-maker, until the new art teacher has the patience and compassion to discover the real problem behind his struggles in school. It had been a very very long time since I watched this movie, so I did, and oh man. It was so so good. The acting is amazing, the music is just beautiful and the story is tear jerking. It's beautiful to think that this movie came out in 2007 with such important messages. I love this movie and you should watch it too. One of the best Indian movies ever made.
- DirectorAnubhav SinhaStarsTaapsee PannuPavail GulatiKumud MishraThappad is a story of Amrita whose seemingly perfect life is shattered when her husband slaps her once in a party. But is one slap enough to question what a relationship stands for?A very one time watch movie, but a powerhouse of a performance by Tapsee Pannu and the rest of the cast. Might be worth your time depending on if you care about this stuff.
- DirectorSanjay Leela BhansaliStarsShah Rukh KhanMadhuri DixitAishwarya Rai BachchanAfter his wealthy family prohibits him from marrying the woman he is in love with, Devdas Mukherjee's life spirals further and further out of control as he takes up alcohol and a life of vice to numb the pain.Such a beautiful looking movie. The sets are intricate and breathtaking, the performance from Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit is phenomenal, the music and dance sequences are mesmerising. I have a few gripes with the character of Devdas but I cant deny that this movie is beautiful as hell. The plot gets somewhat repetitive at times, I thought the ending was a pit weirdly paced, but sstill I cant hate on this movie. Its truly a gem.
- DirectorAnees BazmeeStarsTabuKartik AaryanKiara AdvaniWhen strangers Reet and Ruhan cross paths, their journey leads to an abandoned mansion and a dreaded spirit that has been trapped for 18 years.I don't even know how to describe that this movie was bad. I love the first Bhool Bhulaiyaa and this one just spits in the face of the original. There's nothing in common between the two of them except the name of the ghost. The acting is atrociously bad, the production design is laughable, the cinematography is mid, and the music is cheeks compared to the originals one. Please don't watch this.
- DirectorEdgar WrightStarsThomasin McKenzieAnya Taylor-JoyMatt SmithAspiring fashion designer Eloise is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s, where she encounters dazzling wannabe singer Sandie. But the glamour is not as it seems, and the dreams of the past crack and splinter into something darker.I love Edgar Wright, but this just wasn't it. Its shot well, acted well, and the music is good, but thats where's my praises end. The story is extremely predictable, there's a bunch of tropes, the Josh character is just as flat as a piece of paper, and the ending doesn't really work well at all. I wanted to love this movie, but just pass on this one and watch Shaun of the Dead instead.
- DirectorNishikant KamatStarsAjay DevgnShriya SaranTabuDesperate measures are taken by a man who tries to save his family from the dark side of the law, after they commit an unexpected crime.Mmmm, I didn't really fallin love with this one. The character motivations for Meera are a bit inconsistent just for plots sake. A characters death is very convenient, again, for convenience. The music can be a bit overbearing, especially during "funny" scenes. Gaitonde apparently has no morals whatsoever. Its not a perfect movies at all, and I've seen way better movies so this just didn't hit for me, but if you don't watch a lot of crime thrillers then this might hit for you.
- DirectorEdgar WrightStarsMichael CeraMary Elizabeth WinsteadKieran CulkinIn a magically realistic version of Toronto, a young man must defeat his new girlfriend's seven evil exes one by one in order to win her heart.Such a stylistic movie, so well made, such an enjoyable and funny experience, I just love it so much. Edgar Wright doesn't miss with his comedies.
- DirectorTom FordStarsAmy AdamsJake GyllenhaalMichael ShannonA wealthy art gallery owner is haunted by her ex-husband's novel, a violent thriller she interprets as a symbolic revenge tale.Such a gripping story with many artistic flares, amazingly acted by Jake Gyllenhaal. Maybe not for everyone but if you're into art films, do give it a watch.
- DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsBrad PittDiane KrugerEli RothIn Nazi-occupied France during World War II, a plan to assassinate Nazi leaders by a group of Jewish U.S. soldiers coincides with a theatre owner's vengeful plans for the same.My God, probably the best movie I've watched all year. The suspense is so well written, the characters are all so fun, the music is SO SO good, the stylistic violence is also fun, and MY GOD I do not need to mention Christoph Waltz's LEGENDARY acting. Hans Landa is probably my favourite movie villain of all time. Brad Pitt and Diane Kruger are amazing too. I just love this film so much. Watch it.
- DirectorDavid FincherStarsJesse EisenbergAndrew GarfieldJustin TimberlakeAs Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg creates the social networking site that would become known as Facebook, he is sued by the twins who claimed he stole their idea and by the co-founder who was later squeezed out of the business. An interesting story with amazing acting and cinematography. Andrew Garfield can smash a laptop on my tits.
- DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsUma ThurmanDavid CarradineDaryl HannahAfter awakening from a four-year coma, a former assassin wreaks vengeance on the team of assassins who betrayed her.So much BLOOD, and I LOVE IT. The stylistic depiction of violence is so much fun, the fight scenes are amazingly choreographed, not to mention the insanely elaborate sets that accompany the great fights. The stylistic choices with the animation and the colours are so fun, and the cinematography is breathtaking. I understand why this ones a classic.
- DirectorJon WattsStarsTom HollandSamuel L. JacksonJake GyllenhaalFollowing the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), Spider-Man must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever. The illusion fight was probably my favourite, along with how Mysterio was handled, but other than that this movie is pretty meh, not my favourite of the MCU. Jake Gyllenhaal couldnt bring my rating too high.
- DirectorJon WattsStarsTom HollandZendayaBenedict CumberbatchWith Spider-Man's identity now revealed, Peter asks Doctor Strange for help. When a spell goes wrong, dangerous foes from other worlds start to appear, forcing Peter to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.This just scratches the Spider man nerd itch perfectly. Its a bit too long but I could understand why that runtime could be justified. The fights are pretty good, and of course, Doc Ock and Green Goblin are just joys to watch. I have a lot of gripes with the ending, but it didn't ruin the movie for me. Just a great crowd pleaser
- DirectorYorgos LanthimosStarsOlivia ColmanEmma StoneRachel WeiszIn early 18th-century England, the status quo at the court is upset when a new servant arrives and endears herself to a frail Queen Anne. This movie is so beautifully shot, the locations and sets are so beautiful, and the acting is amazing. The themes are well written and lord the music is just wonderful. Great watch with well written drama.
- DirectorSam RaimiStarsBenedict CumberbatchElizabeth OlsenChiwetel EjioforDoctor Strange teams up with a mysterious teenage girl who can travel across multiverses, to battle other-universe versions of himself which threaten to wipe out the multiverse. They seek help from the Scarlet Witch, Wong and others. The MCU seems to be reaching newer levels of midness with each new hyped release. I was really excited for this one because I love Dr Strange, Wanda and the multiverse concept, but they really farted in their own shit with this one. Most of the movie is boring, the way plot lines are handled is stupid and my god don't get me started on the ending CGI. I just wish this movie was more focused on Dr Strange rather than shoehorn Wanda as the villain. All that said, I still liked the visuals, the fights were interesting and the acting was fine.
- DirectorGareth EvansStarsIko UwaisAnanda GeorgeRay SahetapyA S.W.A.T. team becomes trapped in a tenement run by a ruthless mobster and his army of killers and thugs. What an experience. My only complain would be the excess shaky cam but thats more of a personal preference, other than that, this movie was incredible. The action is so amazing, miles better than 90% of what Hollywood has pulled off in the past decade. The story is a bit lacking but does the job to hold up what the movie already has. If you're an action fan, you HAVE to watch this one.
- DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsJohn TravoltaUma ThurmanSamuel L. JacksonThe lives of two mob hitmen, a boxer, a gangster and his wife, and a pair of diner bandits intertwine in four tales of violence and redemption.I've quickly become a Tarantino fan, and watching his blowup movie for the first time was an experience for sure. The characters, the storytelling, everything is just perfect. The acting is just beautiful as well as the music. If you haven't watched this, you have to.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleMichael CaineKen WatanabeAfter witnessing his parents' death, Bruce learns the art of fighting to confront injustice. When he returns to Gotham as Batman, he must stop a secret society that intends to destroy the city.Did I watch this movie solely for Cillian Murphy? Yes. But that doesn't discredit that this movie is still a great watch. It's VERY fast paced, Rachel as a character is a bit annoying and Ra's Al Ghul is a bit mid but Christian Bale's Batman really brings everything together nicely. I loved the Scarecrow as a villain, I just wish they'd done more with him but yea, solid movie.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleTom HardyAnne HathawayEight years after the Joker's reign of chaos, Batman is coerced out of exile with the assistance of the mysterious Selina Kyle in order to defend Gotham City from the vicious guerrilla terrorist Bane.Oh boy. This movie is WAY TOO LONG. The pacing is all over the place, the action is so boring, and my god the twist is stupid. Miranda is just shoehorned into the story for the stupid twist. Yes I didn't like the twist because it kinda makes Bane's backstory really underwhelming. Bane is an interesting villain, but as I said, the twist kinda makes him less interesting. Catwoman was alright. The reveal with the Robin was annoying, the ending was fine, but yea, as an experience, this one was my least favourite of the trilogy.
- DirectorWes AndersonStarsRalph FiennesF. Murray AbrahamMathieu AmalricA writer encounters the owner of an aging high-class hotel, who tells him of his early years serving as a lobby boy in the hotel's glorious years under an exceptional concierge. This movie is such a joy to watch. Each frame is so beautifully composed, it's a treat for the eyes as well as for the mind. The characters are so fun, the music is great and the story is hilarious.
- DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsUma ThurmanDavid CarradineMichael MadsenThe Bride continues her quest of vengeance against her former boss and lover Bill, the reclusive bouncer Budd, and the treacherous, one-eyed Elle.Great sequel, I prefer the first one because the action is better in that one, but the story really shines in this one. It's still great and a very entertaining watch.
- DirectorSatoshi KonStarsMegumi HayashibaraTôru EmoriKatsunosuke HoriWhen a machine that allows therapists to enter their patients' dreams is stolen, all hell breaks loose. Only a young female therapist, Paprika, can stop it.What a ride! This is such an interesting movie with insanely beautiful visuals, a compelling story, and a short and sweet runtime. Go for a watch for sure
- DirectorMatt ReevesStarsRobert PattinsonZoë KravitzJeffrey WrightWhen a sadistic serial killer begins murdering key political figures in Gotham, Batman is forced to investigate the city's hidden corruption and question his family's involvement.Man, just wow. This is my favourite rendition of Batman (sorry Christian Bale), seeing Bruce Wayne as such an incel is a treat. Zoe Saldana as Catwoman is fine, I felt like she was posing more rather than acting in certain scenes. The cinematography is breathtaking and the score (a bit overused) is also gripping. The action sequences are superbly shot and Paul Dano as the Riddler is compelling as hell. The runtime wasn't a problem for me as it felt justified. I'd recommend watching Se7en before this as this movie clearly draws inspiration from that but it can still stand up on its own. Completely worth a watch.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsFionn WhiteheadBarry KeoghanMark RylanceAllied soldiers from Belgium, the British Commonwealth and Empire, and France are surrounded by the German Army and evacuated during a fierce battle in World War II.This movie provides such a fresh and realistic look at war. The characters are all compelling, you feel for them and can justify their actions without getting a sob story about their dead mom or something. It can be a bit hard to follow since there's so many characters but once you get into the swing of things and recognize everyone's relations and conditions, it's a great watch. The way everyone's story crescendoed into one single story at the end is so satisfying. My only problem was that Harry Styles kept taking me out, sorry. It's a super serious war movie and Harry Styles is just there too looking pristine. Anyway, great movie nonetheless
- DirectorJordan PeeleStarsDaniel KaluuyaKeke PalmerBrandon PereaThe residents of a lonely gulch in inland California bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.I loved Get Out and I love Steven Yuen so I'd been waiting to watch this movie and boy I was not disappointed. This movie is so gripping, the characters are so well written, the horror is horrific, the themes are so compelling and everything is just put together amazingly. This film does lean on its themes a lot which might be a problem for some people but I don't mind because everything was so well done. Love it, definitely my favourite movie from Jordan Peele
- DirectorJoe WrightStarsKeira KnightleyMatthew MacfadyenBrenda BlethynSparks fly when spirited Elizabeth Bennet meets single, rich, and proud Mr. Darcy. But Mr. Darcy reluctantly finds himself falling in love with a woman beneath his class. Can each overcome their own pride and prejudice? This was my first time watching this classic and boy I was in for a ride. I could rave about how amazingly well the characters are written, especially Mr. Darcy but I feel like it's already been done before. This movie has a better written romantic lead than 90% of romance movies right now. The music is beautiful, the production design is simply stunning and my god the costuming is great too, not to mention the breathtaking cinematography. If you haven't watched this, please do.
