- DirectorEric Dean SeatonStarsGrant GustinCandice PattonDanielle PanabakerWhen a powerful alien threat arrives on Earth under mysterious circumstances, Barry, Iris and the rest of the team are pushed to their limits in a desperate battle to save the world.7/10
Pretty good opener. Everything was fine except for the Chester plot. The Chester plot was actually probably one of the worst plots I've ever seen. - DirectorMenhaj HudaStarsGrant GustinCandice PattonDanielle PanabakerDespero warns The Flash that great tragedies will lead to Armageddon; Barry doubles down on proving his innocence, but a devastating revelation pushes him to seek counsel from Black Lightning.7.5/10
Great second part. Great twist. - DirectorChris PeppeStarsGrant GustinCandice PattonDanielle PanabakerBarry meets Black Lightning at the Hall of Justice after things take a dire turn with Despero; Iris suspects something is off with Despero's vision of the future so she seeks help from a powerful ally.6.75/10
Decent main plot and relatively decent side plot. - DirectorChad LoweStarsGrant GustinCandice PattonDanielle PanabakerBarry is shocked when Eobard Thawne returns in the most unexpected way, and with a tie to a loved one. Damien Darhk offers advice to Barry but there is a catch. An epic battle begins with The Reverse-Flash against The Flash and Team Flash.6.5/10
The main storyline is actually really good but the whole episode is hampered by the actually terrible side plot with Alex and Ryan Choi. Previously I said that the Chester side plot was the worst I've ever seen but I take it back. This plot was the worst. Don't know how they manage to have such a great main plot and an absolute shite side plot. - DirectorMenhaj HudaStarsGrant GustinCandice PattonDanielle PanabakerBarry must decide whether to let his greatest enemy die, or save his life.6/10
Decent. Wasn't really much here. - DirectorDavid McWhirterStarsGrant GustinCandice PattonDanielle PanabakerNora and Bart travel back to the future, only to discover that their actions in 2021 have altered 2049.8.5/10
Really solid episode! They seem to have fixed a lot of issues that I had with the past few seasons. It felt higher budget, the writing was better and the character returns were good. I say this every season when there's a good episode but I hope that this level of quality continues into the rest of the season. - DirectorStefan PleszczynskiStarsGrant GustinCandice PattonDanielle PanabakerWhen a criminal invades the CCPD, Barry and Kramer must trust and rely on each other if they are going to make it out safely; Caitlin learns a valuable lesson while out with Snow and Mark.5.5/10
The dialogue is better than last season, but still a weak episode. There's nothing in the episode that I hated, but everything is either mid or below par. Caitlin storyline boring, Allegra-Chester storyline cringe, Barry storyline silly, also they immediately took out the tension of Kramer not knowing that Barry is the Flash, and having Barry train another meta isn't very interesting since he's done it 5 or 6 times already. The Peter Petrelli-esque powers are interesting but they won't be able to execute them in the same way that Heroes did. Just a weird episode that didn't feel like The Flash. The Flash running vfx also just looks terrible now for no reason. - DirectorDavid McWhirterStarsGrant GustinCandice PattonDanielle PanabakerBarry trusts his instincts during a murder investigation, believing the suspect, despite the overwhelming evidence against him; Iris gives Allegra an opportunity to be a mentor.4.75/10
I might actually be done being excited for this show. I don't think I've ever been less excited for an episode, even during the bad season 7. Somehow the best scene in the whole episode is the ending one with Allegra and that random woman I can't remember the name of. After Armageddon and episode 6 (which I really loved, and had great production value and effects) I thought that The Flash was back. Episode 7 was kind of a letdown but I thought it was just a one off, until I saw this episode. I don't understand how they've managed to make the world feel so empty. They had a post-prison awareness theme throughout the episode, but it never really felt earned. Even last episode's interlude episode about Cecille was better in managing its theme. I understand that the interlude episodes are meant to save budget, but surely there's a better way, especially when next week's episode looks like a bottle episode in Star labs. Setting up the graphic novel's villain was also just weird and didn't really fit in. I would've preferred them just reveal that it was someone else like in Cisco's season 5 episode, instead of half-heartedly setting up this bullshit. One thing that I thought I'd love to see was a competent Barry, but it turns out that the writers can't do anything anyway even when he is perfectly competent. I'm never actually done with this show, because I know that as soon as the next story starts I'll see one good episode and go that this is it and Flash is back. I don't know how the production value falls this lot, even Arrow in the later seasons didn't look and feel as cheap as this. Maybe it's covid, maybe it's not, but it definitely doesn't look or feel like a quality show. I'm literally coming back 30 minutes after writing this and I remembered the cliffhanger from last week. How they gonna have a cliffhanger and then not give it any resolution at all. Genius. - DirectorStefan PleszczynskiStarsGrant GustinCandice PattonDanielle PanabakerBarry and Team Flash get closer to figuring out the Fire Meta but no closer to finding him; Iris, needing a distraction, follows a story to Coast City.6/10
I mean it's an improvement. Cecille dialogue is still terrible, and the writers have no sense of implication; they have to flat out state something instead of just implying. I started noticing how weak Team Flash actually is now. No Wells, no Cisco. Whenever the team gets together in my head I'm thinking "is this really it?". The actors just awkwardly standing with their arms at their side during a heated conversation is weird, happens basically every scene. First 25 minutes were basically inconsequential for this episode and then the last 15 weren't even all too good. The Tinya stuff with Iris and Sue was actually decent. It's weird to see the characters actually filming outside for multiple scenes in an episode. I don't know if I actually thought it was interesting or if I just am excited for that Justice U spinoff (terrible name). They seem to have forgotten that Allegra even has powers; surely just one scene of her using her powers on the black flame and having it do nothing (like what Frost did in the Speed Lab) would make more sense than her not even trying. If she's not going to use her powers then at least have a storyline with her that she maybe doesn't want to use them for some mindset reason idk. I feel like if you do the exact same scenes this episode but just don't include Cecille that they would be better. All she does is give exposition and explain what I can see on the screen with my own eyes. Chester storyline started out weak but I think as the episode progressed it got a bit stronger. I respect the Allegra-Chester relationship and I understand that they need to be the center of an episode every now and then, but now I'm just hoping that we get a few weeks without focusing on it too much. I have to admit that the last 10 minutes-ish were interesting to me, just learning about the villain. I think they'll use Barry's guilt of being basically directly responsible for the deaths of Eddie and Ronnie to bring them back, but I also don't see how they're gonna just do that with the black flame (it has to be some power or effect that we haven't seen yet), as with Eddie coming back it's for multiple episodes and potential Season 9 appearances. Cliffhanger was decent I guess - DirectorKellie CyrusStarsGrant GustinCandice PattonDanielle PanabakerBarry's desire to keep the team safe is tested when Frost recklessly courts danger while trying to stop the Black Flame; Iris tries to help a teen girl reunite with her mother but unintentionally does more harm than good.6.25/10
Decent. 4 pep talk scenes in a row but at least the directing was good. Probably some of the best directing in recent history for the show. Didn't really have a hook, and the end reveal was something that everyone already basically knew was happening. The whole episode just accomplished nothing. Iris time sickness is interesting I guess but they don't use it in an interesting way. Them addressing Carla's powers from Season 5 was a nice way to tie a bow on that storyline. Felt like a like budget bottle episode really, which I guess was what it was. I like how they sidelined Chester and Allegra but still gave them a small storyline in the subtext, with Carla offering Chester a job. A lot of dialogue in this episode and not really much wrong with it (big improvement from last season). Still the actors sometimes look like they're glued to the floor. If they got rid of the pep talks in the middle and did an actual big ending to the episode I think it could've been great, but I understand why they couldn't do that with where the episode is placed in the arc. - DirectorGreg BeemanStarsGrant GustinCandice PattonDanielle PanabakerBarry and Chester may have found a way to stop the Black Flame from hurting anyone else; Caitlin decides to handle a situation on her own, possibly putting more innocent lives in danger.9/10
Yo great episode. The Ronnie and Caitlin flashbacks were really good. Caitlin saying "God knows we've fallen in line for you and Iris so many times" was a really great line. This is a rare instance when I think they handled the character drama really well, and it was actually interesting. Seeing Ronnie transform into the CG fire monster at the end was weird af but I understand the limited use of Robbie Amell. I'm actually interested in the next 2 episodes. This episode had basically good everything, I can't even think of a bad thing about it. The Allegra and Chester scene felt kinda out of place but it was at least better than other similar scenes. Obviously was just there to fill time but was entertaining enough. The Iris stuff was reasonably interesting, but only took up a few minutes of screen time. - DirectorPhilip ChiperaStarsGrant GustinCandice PattonDanielle PanabakerWith a new Meta terrorizing the city, Joe lends a hand to the local authorities; Barry gets an assist from Cecile who helps to track the mass murderer.6.5/10
Pretty cool ending sequence with Barry essentially flying on lightning. The rest was ok. Bit boring at times but took the plot where it needed to go. - DirectorChris PeppeStarsGrant GustinCandice PattonDanielle PanabakerTeam Flash is under attack, and each must fight to save not only themselves but each other.7/10
I forgot to rate this episode after it came out. I think it was decent. - DirectorVanessa PariseStarsGrant GustinCandice PattonDanielle PanabakerTeam Flash uses the distraction of a bank robbing Meta to detract from the grief of losing someone they love.8.25/10
Incredible episode in terms of the lighting and directing. Some shots had me actually shocked that I was watching The Flash because of how good they were. Apart from the first 5 minutes the writing was really good. I came into this episode with no expectations but it was actually really good. The ending reveal with Caitlin also is very interesting, and has me exited for the rest of the season, and also maybe some links to Eddie and potential links to bloodwork. For once the Allegra and Chester scenes were actually good, literally probably the first time that has ever happened. Really wish they could keep this level of directing and lighting up but I know they just won't. - DirectorEric WallaceStarsGrant GustinCandice PattonDanielle PanabakerThe Flash gets an assist from XS; CCPD enlists Chester for help when a mysterious device is found at a crime scene.6/10
Just a really mid episode. I didn't like it but I also didn't hate it. Didn't help that I came into it really hyped about the concept and parallels to "Into the Speed Force" episode from season 3. - DirectorCaity LotzStarsGrant GustinCandice PattonDanielle PanabakerThe Flash gets blasted with a shockwave forcing his body to age prematurely.7.5/10
There were some cringe moments in this episode, but it did have some actually impactful scenes regarding the theme. Team Flash at the moment is absolutely tragic. I really do miss the days of Cisco, Wells, Caitlin and Barry. None of these characters even compare. The B-Plot with Joe and Singh actually might be the strangest B-Plot i've seen in recent history. It does fit into the theme but still doesn't really fit in the episode or make sense in any way. Also the villain was borderline dogshit but it doesn't really matter. It did feel like a season 1 episode through and through, which was alright. Especially the end when to beat the villain he has to run fast. The end scene with Barry and Caitlin looked great and also has interesting implications for the rest of the season. - DirectorDanielle PanabakerStarsGrant GustinCandice PattonDanielle PanabakerThe Flash goes off the grid to look for answers about a new Meta in town; Allegra tries to protect a friend at CC Citizen Media.3.75/10
Not a good episode I don't think. Dialogue was absolutely terrible this week. That guy saying "are you fr" with the worst execution ever seen before. The whole allegra plot was just boring and i don't care. I don't know why they force it so much; I like the character of Allegra but they just give her the most dogshit episodes of all time. Even the Barry and Thawne scenes just felt weird. Wasn't even a good performance really. The only thing I liked was right at the end with Barry and Meena. The promo for the next episode also looks fucking incredible. I get what they were going for with the Allegra stuff but it just fell flat. Could tell this episode was solely here to waste time. At least they realized that they can just have a boring ass main plot with a side character and then have the actual main story in the background so that people have to watch the episode, unlike the intermission episodes from last season where you could actually just skip them and miss nothing. For the promo they're doing the classic where they have the really interesting stuff in the promo, but then in the actual episode I bet only 20% will be the Barry-Thawne stuff. Cecille is about half of the synopsis so I'm betting there'll be some stupid ass Cecille shit for the majority of the episode. - DirectorMarcus StokesStarsGrant GustinCandice PattonDanielle PanabakerA new speedster in town gives The Flash more than he bargained for; Cecile's powers experience a growth spurt, allowing her to aid Team Flash on an entirely different level.8/10
A pretty good/decent episode if I'm being honest. Some scenes were clearly poorly handled and didn't make much sense (e.g. Meena going "leave him alone" and then going full negative speed force) but I think it was an enjoyable episode. One major problem with this was the amount of random ass greyscale flashbacks to events from earlier. To me it makes sense for the moments from maybe season 1, or from legends (since some viewers wouldn't have seen legends), but when they're doing the black and white flashback to stuff that happened last season it gets a bit annoying. The Diggle payoff was kinda strange; having this storyline that's been going for 2 years just finish with some classic flash love moment. Just nothing to do with green lantern as well. Cecille scenes were alright I guess, really had nothing to do with the episode but sets up future stuff. Ending scene with Caitlin and Mark was good. The fight scene was alright. I'll give Thawne talking Meena down a pass because it's actually somebody other than Barry doing it for once and I respect the acting by Matt Letscher. The connections to Legends were really interesting, and especially to what happened in the most recent season of Legends. I really hope Meena and Thawne are permanent members of Team Flash next season. It's the upgrade that the team needs, and also some actual interesting characters that they can do side-stories with. - DirectorJeffrey W. ByrdStarsGrant GustinCandice PattonDanielle PanabakerA fight looms for The Flash and team; Iris discovers the cause of her time sickness.8.25/10
- DirectorMarcus StokesStarsGrant GustinCandice PattonDanielle PanabakerWith The Flash still reeling from everything that just happened, the rest of the team rallies to support him when he needs it the most.5/10
I mean it's decent. A lot of problems with this episode. The entire F squad of Cecille, Allegra and Chester is just a terrible group of people who create the most boring scenes of all time. Whenever they come up on screen I just stop caring. Especially since they've downgraded them to only have character development between the three of them. Whenever they're in a room with Barry or anybody else they don't do anything. I honestly couldn't care less about Cecille or her powers. Cecille actress was legitimately just lying about a cameo. I guess it was supposed to be Damian Darhk? I thought people had learned not to do this shit where they overhype cameos (Wandavision). Iris stuff I don't care. I absolutely hate hate hate hate HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE the fucking forces. They were terrible last season and they're terrible this season. Anything to do with them is absolutely dogshit. Terrible villains and a terrible way to end the season. Meena just lost her husband and nobody gives a shit. I really was hoping for them to keep Meena and Eobard around for next season so they can have actually good characters other than Barry, but they don't give a shit. Eric Wallace will continue to peddle these fucking dogshit characters, giving them entire episodes and also grouping all of the shit characters together in every important scene that they're in. Another Iris death fake-out is also fucking stupid. I hate the power of love. Every finale now it's just the same. Thawne is such a terrible villain now. I legitimately believe that Eric Wallace fully killed the show. I enjoyed Season 6, but since then it's actually been full-on dogshit. I would rather have Todd Helbing or literally anybody else back. They also ruined Nora and Impulse for no reason, and bring back Jay and his wife for literally no reason. I wish the show was cancelled after this episode to be honest. The ending didn't set up shit. Who cares about stupid ass frost shit that takes 6 episodes for 1 (one) thing to happen. I hate how they incorporate 2049 into the show. Destroys all stakes. I don't even care if the last scene is hinting at Cobalt Blue (something I've been excited about since season 3) since I know that Eric Wallace will ruin it again like he has to every other villain that he's introduced (other than Bloodwork). I am actually so pissed about the cameo bullshit. I don't understand why you would just lie about it when you know it will piss so many people off.
