- CreatorVince GilliganStarsBryan CranstonAaron PaulAnna GunnA chemistry teacher diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer turns to manufacturing and selling methamphetamine with a former student in order to secure his family's future.Look, this show is one of those you can write an essay about why it's so great. It's on a highest level of any possible metrics. Top-notch acting, storytelling, cinematography, dialogue, characters and their development. There are no bad episodes in this show, some may be slower, but each one adds to the overall story or creates a better look at characters we follow. Aside from everything being said i just love how this show is a mix of different film genres, it can be a hilarious unintentional dark comedy at one point and then turn into heavy drama or intense crime sequence in a matter of few scenes. It makes this show so nice to revisit or rewatch.
- CreatorDavid BenioffD.B. WeissStarsEmilia ClarkePeter DinklageKit HaringtonNine noble families fight for control over the lands of Westeros, while an ancient enemy returns after being dormant for millennia. There are not many shows which made me so invested in story and characters as this one. Absolute rollercoaster of emotions and the most binge-watchable show i've ever watched. No other show can introduce so many characters, their own subplots, inner conflicts, motives, and to make you attached to almost every single one of them. The earlier seasons would definitely be in my top of best TV seasons i've seen. So, regardless of the way it ended, it's still one of my favorite shows, and i have a lot of love and appreciation for the highs this show had, as well as how groundbreaking this project became for TV in general.
- StarsJessie James GrelleBryce PapenbrookTrina NishimuraAfter his hometown is destroyed and is traumatized, young Eren Jaeger vows to cleanse the earth of the giant humanoid Titans that have brought humanity to the brink of extinction.Absolutely amazing series. Love the characters, the storytelling technique, the moral conflicts, and overall ambiguity of the story. And personally this anime has some of the most beautiful soundtracks i've heard in any piece of modern media.
- CreatorMark FrostDavid LynchStarsKyle MacLachlanMichael OntkeanMädchen AmickAn idiosyncratic FBI agent investigates the murder of a young woman in the even more idiosyncratic town of Twin Peaks. This is, excuse me, a damn fine piece of television. As a David Lynch fan this show turned out to be everything i needed and more. I love the whole mixture of enthralling mysterious story with quirky characters and mesmerizing aesthetic. I also don't think i'll ever see another show that manages to be so unsettling and comforting at the same time. Honestly even the soap opera parts, which this show occasionally brings into the story have its own charm and they aren't as tedious as in some other tv of that era. I have to briefly mention season 3 here too, what an amazing return after such a long break, the show didn't lose a bit of its identity and delivered on all fronts. Strangely, i felt like i was one of those old fans relieving all these memories and having one last journey with this epic cast.
- CreatorVince GilliganPeter GouldStarsBob OdenkirkRhea SeehornJonathan BanksThe trials and tribulations of criminal lawyer Jimmy McGill in the years leading up to his fateful run-in with Walter White and Jesse Pinkman.Prequel which lived up to the brilliance of its predecessor, a rare case to witness. Impeccable level of writing and cinematography, might just be the most visually pleasing show i've ever seen. The new characters that were introduced to the universe turned out to be a great addition to the grand scheme of the story, and the characters we already knew were flawlessly led up to their points in Breaking Bad.
- CreatorCharlie BrookerStarsWunmi MosakuMonica DolanDaniel LapaineFeaturing stand-alone dramas -- sharp, suspenseful, satirical tales that explore techno-paranoia -- "Black Mirror" is a contemporary reworking of "The Twilight Zone" with stories that tap into the collective unease about the modern world.Love this show, thought-provoking nature of it, and the concepts it creates within its episodes. Some people may say it is at times depressing to watch, but i appreciate when a show does something that gets stuck in your head for days after you finish watching an episode.
- CreatorNic PizzolattoIssa LópezStarsVince VaughnColin FarrellRachel McAdamsAnthology series in which police investigations unearth the personal and professional secrets of those involved, both within and outside the law.First season is fantastic, everything else after that - not so much. Now the second season took a different direction, which i can at least respect; and season 3 was good, but not a top tier tv. Can't help, but feel like in the right hands this show still had the potential to deliver something truly great...
- CreatorSteven KnightStarsCillian MurphyPaul AndersonSophie RundleA gangster family epic set in 1900s England, centering on a gang who sew razor blades in the peaks of their caps, and their fierce boss Tommy Shelby.Great show. Back when i started watching it, i was obsessed with its aesthetics, characters and entourage. Although the final season was quite underwhelming, it still remains a very solid show in every aspect. Cillian Murphy is definitely the main star of the show, but the rest of the cast deserves just as much of a credit for putting hell of a performance here.
- CreatorBaran bo OdarJantje FrieseStarsLouis HofmannKaroline EichhornLisa VicariA family saga with a supernatural twist, set in a German town where the disappearance of two young children exposes the relationships among four families.Mind-boggling show. The casting choices are so impressive to me, i usually pay attention to how good characters are portrayed in their past as their younger versions (or even older ones in this case) and they absolutely nailed it here. The atmosphere is captivating, choice of the soundtracks is fantastic, and they stuck the ending, which is a very satisfying thing to see when it comes to TV-shows.
- StarsMamoru MiyanoBrad SwaileVincent TongAn intelligent high school student goes on a secret crusade to eliminate criminals from the world after discovering a notebook capable of killing anyone whose name is written into it.Amazing anime. I found the animation and visuals of the show really cool, the story keeps you on the edge and soundtracks fits the tone very well. The whole rivalry and mind games between Light and L were iconic. I liked all the twists and turns, particularly how they constantly wrote Light into a corner and then wrote him out of it in a reasonable manner. There were few things that bothered me here and there (including some moments since episode 26), but it was still a great, witty, suspenseful and extremely entertaining story for the most part.
- CreatorBill DubuqueMark WilliamsStarsJason BatemanLaura LinneySofia HublitzA financial advisor drags his family from Chicago to the Missouri Ozarks, where he must launder money to appease a drug boss. This show is my number 1 contender for the most suspenseful show i've ever watched. The writing is so good, the acting is terrific when it comes to the climactic moments. Also no one actually talks about it, or mentions it as a show's drawback, but i really like show's cold, blue color grading. The only thing i wish it had is a more satisfying ending. My problem with the ending were not necessarily the main conclusions of this story, but rather how did we get to them. This show had all the potential to implement it so much better and i think a lot of fans can agree with me on this one.
- CreatorCraig MazinStarsJessie BuckleyJared HarrisStellan SkarsgårdIn April 1986, the city of Chernobyl in the Soviet Union suffers one of the worst nuclear disasters in the history of mankind. Consequently, many heroes put their lives on the line in the following days, weeks and months.Admittedly, a very well-made depiction of the horrifying tragedy. Everything from the set design to the radiative atmosphere is shown in such an authentic way that it makes you deeply experience these heartbreaking sequences alongside the main characters. I only have few nitpicks, which don't really affect my viewing of the series. And obviously as good as this show is, i can't really say it's one of my favorites, because i admire its quality more than i personally like it in comparison to some other series.
- CreatorEric KripkeStarsKarl UrbanJack QuaidAntony StarrA group of vigilantes set out to take down corrupt superheroes who abuse their superpowers.Super enjoyable and refreshing TV-show. It's entertaining, well-rounded, it nicely balances both drama and comedy, and it has one of the best villains over the recent years. I just hope it won't lose its direction and its biggest strength that is Homelander doesn't become its stopping force. Meaning this character specifically brought such a huge success and audience to this show that at this point they can't write him out of this story, as well as Homelander vs The Boys plot arc with such a slow progression is starting to become a bit dragged on.
- CreatorLisa JoyJonathan NolanStarsEvan Rachel WoodJeffrey WrightEd HarrisAt the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past, waits a world in which every human appetite can be indulged without consequence.Season 1 of this show was incredible, absolutely mind-blowing, and so well-written. Season 2 was not bad, but clearly a downgrade and after that the show kinda lost me. I saw that coming as the show's premise exhausted itself in early seasons, so eventually it turned into a regular sci-fi show rather than this special mix of great things, that it once was. Nonetheless it was a good journey, i had fun watching it.
- CreatorMatt DufferRoss DufferStarsMillie Bobby BrownFinn WolfhardWinona RyderWhen a young boy vanishes, a small town uncovers a mystery involving secret experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one strange little girl.I firmly believe season 1 is still the best season of this show, everything was there: mysterious atmosphere, adorable kids on their adventures, layered characters, great character interactions, even some good subtle comedy they threw in occasionally. While i'm not going crazy about how good season 1 is, next seasons definitely didn't live up to its quality. Season 2 was good, but it had that awful lost sister plotline. Season 3 was just bad in pretty much all aspects except for the visuals and the ending. And while season 4 was good enough, the show still didn't get rid of repetitive plot devices, plot armor, character downgrades. Therefore for my taste overall the show is really good, at times amazing, but just hella inconsistent.
- CreatorAlec BergBill HaderStarsBill HaderStephen RootSarah GoldbergA hit man from the Midwest moves to Los Angeles and gets caught up in the city's theatre arts scene. At first i wasn't keen on this show. My biggest gripe about it was its over the top, mostly unfunny, cartoonish comedy, which i couldn't get into. The plot and the characters weren't really exciting to follow either. But as it moved on i gradually became more and more invested, the acting performances were great, the cinematography, especially all the symmetrical shots were gorgeous, at one point i realized that i was watching a very stylish and original show. And most importantly, i've finally come to appreciate the show's comedy. I guess it took me a while to realize what this series is trying to be, my initial expectations were different, but as soon as i let them go, i really enjoyed the show for what it is. Season 3 was easily my favorite season and that's where the show peaked in my opinion. And while i think the final season, specifically the second half was a bit underwhelming, i can't say it failed to wrap up the story like many of the shows do. To summarize, the show is far from perfect, but it manages to be a good mix of an entertaining comedy and intense drama, which i thoroughly enjoyed.
- CreatorRyan J. CondalGeorge R.R. MartinStarsMatt SmithEmma D'ArcyOlivia CookeAn internal succession war within House Targaryen at the height of its power, 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen.Very solid prequel to Game of Thrones. There is definitely a room for improvement, but season 1 totally dealt with its task, and brought back the excitement of watching a grand fantasy once in a week.
- CreatorTim MillerStarsFred TatascioreScott WhyteNolan NorthA collection of animated short stories that span various genres including science fiction, fantasy, horror and comedy.Cool animated show, i love how versatile it is when it comes to animation styles, as well as the variety of genres it mixes. Some of the episodes feel a bit shallow, but it doesn't ruin the overall experience of the series.
- StarsLee Jung-jaePark Hae-sooDylan BesseauHundreds of cash-strapped players accept a strange invitation to compete in children's games. Inside, a tempting prize awaits with deadly high stakes: a survival game that has a whopping 45.6 billion-won prize at stake.Good show. The main storyline was super engaging to watch, the detective plotline was a bit off, VIPs acting was also among the other minor things i didn't like. What i did like though, is the episode named Kkanbu. It's not only a peak drama within the context of this series, but simply an amazingly crafted episode of TV. It shows every possible side a character can turn into, and that's what the show's premise is about in the first place, testing and exposing human nature for what it is, when facing a life and death situation.
- CreatorGreg BerlantiSera GambleStarsPenn BadgleyVictoria PedrettiTati GabrielleA dangerously charming, intensely obsessive young man goes to extreme measures to insert himself into the lives of those he is transfixed by.I like this show. While acknowledging it isn't the most well-written and realistic thing put on screen, it's still an interesting, fun journey, with a dope concept to it, which makes series very dynamic and easy to watch.
- CreatorJon FavreauStarsPedro PascalChris BartlettKatee SackhoffThe travels of a lone bounty hunter in the outer reaches of the galaxy, far from the authority of the New Republic.Even though i still like this show overall, i got to be completely honest, it constantly uses one of the things i hate about current Star Wars content, that is fan service. Not only that, but the whole space-western genre puts this show into a place where some episodes feel unnecessary and repetitive. Ultimately, i feel like the show lacks substance, it tries to please everyone too much thus it doesn't have enough of a backbone unlike many other more cohesive shows with a clear direction, which i prefer. So i don't see myself coming back to this show or discuss it with someone cause in the end there is not much to.
- CreatorMichael HirstStarsKatheryn WinnickGustaf SkarsgårdAlexander LudwigVikings transports us to the brutal and mysterious world of Ragnar Lothbrok, a Viking warrior and farmer who yearns to explore--and raid--the distant shores across the ocean.I'm not exaggerating when i say seasons 5 and 6 of this show were one of the most boring hours i've spent watching anything. The more this show distanced itself from its main strength i.e. Ragnar's journey, the more disconnected i was with the series. Bjorn's death was one of the only impressive parts of last 2 seasons. Characters like Ubbe, Ivar had great potential, the actors who played them did a fantastic job, but that couldn't salvage them from being a part of the awful scipt.
- CreatorBryan FullerStarsHugh DancyMads MikkelsenCaroline DhavernasExplores the early relationship between renowned psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter and a young FBI criminal profiler who is haunted by his ability to empathize with serial killers. This show is a mixed bag. A lot of plot conveniences, some poor staging, useless guards every damn time. On the positive side there are impressive practical effects, cool cinematography, good actors, great performances on lead roles from Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy. And of course the final episode of season 2, it's amazing from start to finish, the highlight of the show for me. If only the whole show was of this quality. So, to sum it up, i think it's not a bad show, but i definitely don't find it as appealing as most people do.
- CreatorHaro AsoStarsKento YamazakiTao TsuchiyaNijirô MurakamiObsessed gamer Arisu suddenly finds himself in a strange, emptied-out version of Tokyo in which he and his friends must compete in dangerous games in order to survive. This show was alright. I'm not a big fan of it, but it was enjoyable. Season 2 was quite an improvement over season 1 and made things make sense at the end. If i'm being honest i'm not fond of the characters and the acting in this show, the action scenes look cheap and boring at times. The best part of the story are by far the actual games, they are engaging, intriguing, well-designed and show characters development throughout its course. Outside of the games show doesn't capture me with any particular character interactions or dialogue and the pacing becomes almost unbearable at times.
- CreatorLauren Schmidt HissrichStarsFreya AllanHenry CavillAnya ChalotraGeralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.I don't realy care about this show. It feels like a fantasy with good production and big budget, but the direction of the story, the characters, the acting are just nothing special. If i ever want to really dive into The Witcher story i'd rather go play the video game series and i'm pretty sure i will enjoy it far more that way.
- StarsEwan McGregorMoses IngramVivien Lyra BlairJedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi must save young Leia after she is kidnapped, all the while being pursued by Imperial Inquisitors and his former Padawan now known as Darth Vader.Terrible show with less than a few positives within it. A lot of infamous clunky directed scenes you can hardly see in any modern big budget TV, poor writing, a lot of plot armour, some unconvincing acting. Reva's redemption story doesn't make sense. And the way she casually survives being stabbed in her stomach by a lightsaber? I'm done with how they treat these kind of moments in this universe. Couple of decent moments shared between Obi-Wan and Vader don't blindside me from the overall frustration and a thought that this was a messy series, which didn't really add much context to the Star Wars story.
