Muh Childhood (1987 to 2002)
I literally watched/played the hell out of all of these in these years, and some were just a memorable/significant part of those years regardless of what I think of them now. The TV was my best friend... heh. Not in any particular order... I'll try to order them in order of from my youngest age to my oldest. Most of these I at least liked a little.

I'm so glad I was part of the era that saw the weird creepy rubberband dude.
- StarsRichard BinsleyGordon PinsentDawn GreenhalghThe adventures of the King of the elephants, his family, and friends.I can't believe this is rated so low, I thought it was a timeless classic! And then I grew up to watch the movie with "Hail Retaxes!" and all that and I appreciated it even more. I felt so cozy watching this show.
- CreatorBritt AllcroftRick SiggelkowStarsDidi ConnBrian Edward O'ConnorAlan SemokAt seemingly a ordinary train station in a small American town, extraordinary things happen including a tiny man called "Mr. Conductor" who tells stories about Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends.Ages 2-3. I was born in 1987. I remember those spinning eyes, Mr Conductor, Tom Jackson, and Evil Mr Conductor really vividly.

- DirectorKenneth JohnsonStarsFisher StevensMichael McKeanTim BlaneyRobot Johnny Five comes to the city and gets manipulated by criminals who want him for their own purposes.Written as my favorite movie in my baby book! lol
- CreatorAllan BlyeBob EinsteinStarsBob EinsteinArt IrizawaMike WaldenBattered and abused stuntman Super Dave Osborne gets his own nighttime talk show. In between interviews Osborne, with the help of his partner and promoter, Fuji, performs his classic stunts that never quite seem to go as planned.Ages 0-5. That scene... I NEVER FORGOT IT... the episode where Super is sitting at a drive through booth and waiting for Fuji to pick up his food, and Fuji just literally DRIVES THROUGH THE BOOTH. I bust a gut. I recently finally saw it again after almost 30 years and, of course, I laughed pretty hard. I hardly remember most of the other stuff though, but it was a pretty funny show, even if most of Super's jokes went over my head back then. I liked it when he got hurt, and I loved Fuji!
- CreatorKevin EastmanPeter LairdDavid WiseStarsCam ClarkeBarry GordonRob PaulsenThe pizza-loving, shell-busting mutant turtles Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo, with the guidance of their Sensei Master Splinter, face fierce enemies, save humanity from extinction and battle against life-altering mutations.Age 1 - 7. This is probably the first show/series/anything I became a fanatic of. I had merchandise, shirts, toys, etc. It even made me love pizza more than I probably otherwise would have!
- CreatorJim DavisStarsLorenzo MusicThom HugeGregg BergerStories about Garfield the cat, Odie the dog, their owner Jon and the trouble they get into, and Orson the Pig and his adventures on a farm with fellow farm animals.I don't know if I started watching it as soon as 1988, but I definitely watched it throughout the 90s. I loved this show so much, I remember watching it before school, after school, and when I was home sick, and it always brightened my day.
- CreatorMichael BerkGregory J. BonannDouglas SchwartzStarsDavid HasselhoffPamela AndersonYasmine BleethAt a Los Angeles beach, a team of lifeguards led by Lieutenant Mitch Buchannon save lives, deal with personal dramas, fight crime and participate in over the top adventures on a daily basis.Ages 1 - 6. I remember watching this sometimes with my mom, lol. I just remember beaches, lots of water, drama, panic... oh, and my mom liked Hoff. I've watched almost the whole series recently when they released Baywatch HD. I totally get why it was a worldwide phenomenon... a world wide phenomenon doesn't disserve a 5.4 on IMDB.
- StarsWolf LarsonLydie DenierSean RobergeThe legendary "Ape Man" and his scientist friends protect the jungle from environmental threats, in this updated version of the classic story.Age 3 - 6. I remember watching this a lot with my mom. Because of this show I kept accidentally referring to Chimps as Cheetahs even at school for a while. This series was my introduction to the ERB character. I'm guessing for most people of my generation older than me it was Greystoke or the Bo Derek one, and younger than me it was Disney's version.
- DirectorShigeru MiyamotoA plumber named Mario and his brother Luigi travel through the Mushroom Kingdom to save the princess from the evil Bowser.I was 2 in 1989 when I got this and my NES (with Duck Hunt)!
- DirectorKensuke TanabeMario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool and Toad enter a mysterious door to save the people of Sub-Con from the evil frog Wart and his minions.Yeah, I played as Peach.. I mean, Princess, lol. Yeah I liked her floating ability.
- DirectorShigeru MiyamotoTakashi TezukaKing Koopa has kidnapped Princess Toadstool, taken over all seven kingdoms in the Mushroom World, and put his seven kids in charge of all of them. It's the Mario Brothers to the rescue.Since I was born late into the NES life, I got all the Marios in quick succession. My parents loved to play these with me too, so that's what probably helped in getting a nice library of games. We also had a family friend that kept giving me their games.
- StarsLou AlbanoHarvey AtkinJohn StockerThe Mario Brothers, Princess Toadstool, and Toad go on various adventures while battling the evil King Koopa. This was probably the newest Mario thing by the time I got my NES. DO THE MARIO! Yes, I did The Mario, in front of my TV.
- DirectorHitoshi AkamatsuIn the late 15th century, vampire slayer Simon Belmont must destroy Count Dracula by infiltrating his sanctuary, Castlevania.I didn't own it right away, I played it like crazy at our family friends' house. Their game collection was so much more cool than mine, I always asked my parents if I could get these games but they said no. Eventually our friends actually just gave me some of them!
- DirectorHitoshi AkamatsuSimon Belmont discovers that, even though he defeated Count Dracula in the original Castlevania, he is now under Dracula's curse and must collect Dracula's body parts and fight him again.Same case as with the first game. I remember actually liking the sequel more! I still do love it, tbh.
- DirectorTadashi SugiyamaYoichi YamadaA direct sequel to the original Legend of Zelda, it follows Link as he is on a quest to break the sleeping curse placed upon Princess Zelda.Yup, I played it at that awesome family friend house. I remember always asking him why he didn't have the first game. I think he sold it or traded it in. I remember him telling me he traded his old games for newer ones, that was how I learned that was a thing.
- DirectorShigeru MiyamotoTakashi TezukaFollows the story of a young boy named Link that must save a kidnapped princess from the evil, demonic Ganon, who put a spell on his lair which can only be removed with the 3 pieces of the Triforce, a golden triangle with mystical powers. Our friends didn't have this, actually :( I remember how I finally bought both this and Zelda 2, it was from a bargain bin used games sale a few years later.. I just can't remember exactly when. Somewhere between ages 6 and 9 maybe. I was blown away by how different it was.
- An arcade style 3-D car racing game.I don't know where I got it or how or if someone gifted it to me, but this was one of my first 5 NES games and I played it to death. I never beat it, I think (always got close!), but I absolutely love the style and mood of this game. It's too bad Square left the series in the dust after RR2.
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsMichael KeatonJack NicholsonKim BasingerThe Dark Knight of Gotham City begins his war on crime with his first major enemy being Jack Napier, a criminal who becomes the clownishly homicidal Joker.I was a bigger fan of this movie back then more than I am now, but it was a big deal to me. But it was The Animated Series that helped me decide Batman was my favorite super hero.
- DirectorKeiichi SuzukiLoosely based on the film Batman (1989), you play as Batman and fight through multiple levels of enemies and bosses, culminating in a showdown with the Joker in the bell tower of Gotham Cathedral.I'm sure this was one of my first 5 NES games. I even remember the very small video game store where we bought it. I loved this game's music even then. I remember after losing too much, I lied down on the carpet and looked at the ceiling while letting the epic Game Over music play.
