- DirectorWes CravenStarsNeve CampbellCourteney CoxDavid ArquetteA year after the murder of her mother, a teenage girl is terrorized by a masked killer who targets her and her friends by using scary movies as part of a deadly game.Started it all, this is still today the best in the franchise. It set the standard for meta stories and the cast of characters is still to date the best.
- DirectorWes CravenStarsNeve CampbellCourteney CoxDavid ArquetteTwo years after the first series of murders, as Sidney acclimates to college life, someone donning the Ghostface costume begins a new string of killings.Moving on to college, our group tries to get back to normal but the "new normal" is dealing with the past while current events wind back up with a new killer(s) on the loose. Not as fresh as the first, the second movie still delivers while upping the kill count and stakes.
- DirectorWes CravenStarsDavid ArquetteNeve CampbellCourteney CoxWhile Sidney and her friends visit the Hollywood set of Stab 3, the third film based on the Woodsboro murders, another Ghostface killer rises to terrorize them.A bit bloated and a killer(s) who's motivations are not entirely fleshed out, the whole movie within a movie is fun and there are some wonderful performances from the newbies. I gotta mention Courtney Cox's bangs....WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!
- DirectorMatt Bettinelli-OlpinTyler GillettStarsNeve CampbellCourteney CoxDavid Arquette25 years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, Calif., a new killer dons the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town's deadly past.Bringing back the franchise without its captain was a risky move. But having a sharply written script, bringing back legacy characters to interact with new, well cast characters and adding major stakes, it works very well infusing new life into the franchise.
- DirectorWes CravenStarsNeve CampbellCourteney CoxDavid ArquetteTen years have passed, and Sidney Prescott, who has put herself back together thanks in part to her writing, is visited by the Ghostface Killer. After a decade away, the franchise felt a little long in the tooth but with returning legacy characters/actors putting in great performances and some fun new characters, the film helped to keep a pulse going for the aging franchise.
- DirectorMatt Bettinelli-OlpinTyler GillettStarsCourteney CoxMelissa BarreraJenna OrtegaIn the next installment, the survivors of the Ghostface killings leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter in New York City. While the film overall gets a positive review, there are concerning elements that make me worried about the future. While our main two protagonists are fun to follow, the rest of the cast is lacking major elements of the past. Dewey and Randy are sorely missed as there is no character/actor currently holding the film's meta and heart. Couple that with an ending which was Scooby-Doo cringe inducing and lack of stakes, I hope the next installment shores up some of the holes in the boat.
