Top 30 comedy specials

by kirkendog | created - 11 Apr 2023 | updated - 17 Apr 2023 | Public

I recently watched 55 specials, some I've seen before. Most were not as good as I remember so the comedy shelf life is pretty poor. Looking at the ratings, there are wide gaps on what people consider funny because some of the specials were pretty blah to me but they have an 8.5. Especially when some shows just repeat what was on the previous show. George Carlin is a prime example, he had some great stuff & if you put it all in 1 show, it's the best show of all-time. But, each show on it's own is not that funny, 1 or 2 great things, the rest of the show is average at best.

I always thought Richard Pryor was the best & he's like Carlin, put all the best stuff together & it's great, but each show has boring parts.

One thing you'll find out when doing this is almost every comedian bashes a Republican, I guess it's a requirement to get a show or leftists just can't help themselves. Some will even compliment a DemocRat a few minutes later. Typical bias but it's to be expected if you want to work in the corrupt media. Look at Dennis Miller, the critics loved his shows when he bashed Republicans, when he changed his views, now he's horrible to the same people. If they could, they would ban him now. This shows the leftist hypocrisy in them caring about free speech, they prove over & over that they only care about free speech for them.

Another theme is bashing religion, kind of like a Hollywood cult or something. I'm not religious at all but it's not necessary to put people down just because that's what they believe. I guess it's the mini-Satan in most comedians who drink a lot and/or do drugs.

Most of the best comedians are black IMO, but they spend way too much time on race & bashing whites, I guess it's for the street cred of their mostly black audience, but their funniest stuff is when they stopped lecturing & just tried to make people laugh. Eddie Griffin used to be pretty funny, but he's gone all in on being an angry at the world comedian, it's not funny Eddie.

When the best comedians avoided those subjects & just did something funny, it was far superior to the verbal vomit diatribe they do for almost half their shows.

I've read that people think Leary copied Hicks, but if so he does it way better. I watched the supposed Hicks' best show & it was horrible (he's in London & pretty much trashing America the entire show, pro drugs & he thinks we should end defense spending - another clueless person, like a lot of Brits who cheered this stuff on, who think all the tyrants in the world will all join hands, end all wars & sing kumbaya together). In reality, you give up your weapons & you will end up dead - the UK people will regret giving up weapons over the next 50 years with all the potential terrorists they've allowed into their country.

Leary's show wasn't funny the entire time but it had some great moments, as did all the ones with an 8 rating.

One Night Stand on list - Martin Lawrence & Damon Wayans. On Location on list - Carlin at Carnegie & at USC.

Overall 10 best comedians with their best stuff on 1 show: 1. George Carlin 2. Richard Pryor 3. Dana Carvey 4. Dave Chappelle 5. Sam Kinison 6. Eddie Murphy 7. Damon Wayans 8. Martin Lawrence 9. Dice Clay 10. Bill Burr
