According to his friend David Lean, Jarre settled the matter of his divorce from Dany Saval very simply by making over to her all future royalties from his score for Doctor Zhivago (1965) - which probably made her millions.
His first wife Francette Pejot was a Resistance heroine. She was born in Lyon, France on October 17, 1914 and died on April 23, 2010. She married Maurice Jarre in April 1946 and they were divorced in 1951.
He was cremated at Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles, California. His ashes were given to his son, Kevin.
He was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6505 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, California on February 3, 1994.
His son Jean-Michel Jarre is a musician born 1952 and a daughter born 1955.
