- Aldrin's mother's maiden name was Moon.

- With the passing of Mike Collins in 2021, Aldrin is the last surviving of the three astronauts in the historic Apollo 11 mission, though he was also the eldest (they were all born in year 1930, Aldrin was born the earliest).
- The Cartoon Spokesperson for Honey Nut Cheerios Cereal is named after him.
- He is portrayed by Corey Stoll by First Man (2018).
- Fourth wife, Dr. Anca Faur, earned a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, and is approximately 30 years his junior.
