Interview With the Vampire just dropped the best trailer you’ll see all season. Cut by series creator Rolin Jones, the three-minute Interview With the Vampire Season 2 trailer shows passionate moments between Louis (Jacob Anderson) and Armand (Assad Zaman) as their relationship develops, but underscoring it all is Lestat’s (Sam Reid) haunting presence and flashbacks to his time before Louis, a time when he met Armand and seemingly had an intimate relationship, and a building intensity of the Dubai interview in 2022. As if that weren’t enough, the trailer also reveals flashbacks to young Daniel Molloy’s (Luke Brandon Field) original interview with Louis in San Francisco in 1973. “You don’t understand the meaning of your own story!” the young journalist yells, directly referencing a line from Anne Rice‘s original novel of the same name. It also reveals Succession‘s Justin Kirk speaking to present-day Daniel (Eric Bogosian) in a mystery role.

Two years ago, “Succession” earned all of its first three Best TV Drama Actor SAG Award nominations at once and thus made history as the first series to take up that many slots in one of said category’s annual lineups. Unfortunately, Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, and Jeremy Strong all ended up losing that contest to Lee Jung-jae (“Squid Game”), but each now has a final chance at redemption. In fact, Gold Derby’s SAG Awards odds indicate that the concluded HBO program is on the verge of racking up an unprecedented four individual male bids in 2024, with a five-slot sweep also well within the realm of possibility.
More than three-quarters of our SAG Awards predictors are backing Culkin in this year’s drama actor race, while his on-screen sister, Sarah Snook, has even more support in the corresponding female category. Our current male top five further includes Strong as...

When “Succession” director Andrij Parekh heard what show creator Jesse Armstrong had planned for the final season’s eighth episode, “America Decides,” he admitted to being “terrified” due to the logistics involved in creating a full-blown presidential election. For the show’s acclaimed production designer, Stephen H. Carter, the “fear was that we wouldn’t be able to pull off the scale of that in a single episode.”
Carter – a four-time Emmy nominee who was once again nominated for “Succession” this year thanks to “America Decides” – reveals to Gold Derby in an exclusive video interview that the research process that went into creating the Atn newsroom started maybe a month before the crew even had a finished script. “It was looking pretty challenging,” he says. “We pitched a control room connected to a studio set, with some hallways in between, you know, things like that. Another player is interested in returning to Weeds. The possibility of a revival was first reported in May. Showtime is developing a revival of the popular comedy-drama series that aired on the cable network for eight seasons between 2005-12. Christian Torpe would write and executive produce the series.
Mary-Louise Parker, Elizabeth Perkins, Hunter Parrish, Kevin Nealon, Alexander Gould, Justin Kirk, Andy Milder, Allie Grant, and Romany Malco starred in the original series. Parker is set to return for the new incarnation. The original comedy follows housewife and mom Nancy Botwin (Parker) as she finds creative ways to support her family after the death of her husband. The revival would reportedly take Nancy to Copenhagen.

If the long-gestating Weeds Revival gets the green light, another original star is interested in stepping back into the world of Nancy Botwin.
Elizabeth Perkins appeared in five of eight seasons during the show's initial run on Showtime.
In an interview with Variety, Perkins stressed that the new project was very much "talk" at this early stage in development.
The Afterparty Season 2 star admitted she would be ecstatic to get the opportunity to work with her former co-stars.
"I loved working with Mary-Louise Parker," she added.
"I love those two characters together, Nancy and Celia!"
Indeed, fans would be interested in checking back in with Celia, who was missing from the show's final three seasons.
By the end of Weeds' eight-season run, the series had changed so much that many of the original elements of the show were missing.

Welcome to Emmy Experts Typing, a weekly column in which Gold Derby editors and Experts Joyce Eng and Christopher Rosen discuss the Emmy race — via Slack, of course. This week, we wonder how many acting nominations “Succession” can score on a restricted ballot.
Christopher Rosen: Hello, Joyce! It’s the Friday before we make our final Emmy nominations predictions next week, so what better time than now to take one last look at the drama race before our actual last look? I’m not sure if people reading our weekly column realize this, but we both loved “Succession.” It’s true! I would say it’s not just my favorite show of the year but perhaps of forever. So I start here with that bit of throat-clearing to give some perspective on what I’m going to type here: I think people might be underestimating the total number of acting...

When Kieran Culkin confirmed in late April that he will submit in Best Drama Actor at the Emmys for the fourth and final season of “Succession” after two supporting bids, it set off a flurry of reactions. One was that it’s the correct call, given the increased focus on Roman (Culkin), Kendall (Jeremy Strong) and Shiv (Sarah Snook) this season in the wake of Logan’s (Brian Cox) death in the third episode. Another was that he would split the vote with Strong, the 2020 champ, and Cox, who later confirmed he was staying in lead, paving the way for someone else to triumph. But if either Culkin or Cox pulls out the win, though the latter seems less likely, “Succession” will join rarefied air as one of just two series to win the category for two different people.

In 2022 “Succession” made history by earning 14 acting nominations at the Emmys. That’s the most any show has ever received in a single year. That number was especially remarkable as it came from 16 acting submissions on the Emmy ballot, meaning only two submitted performers failed to make the cut (supporting actor Alan Ruck and guest actor Justin Kirk). In 2023 the show has submitted more actors for consideration (19). So will the show break its own record by earning 15 or more acting noms?

“I think there’s a certain pace a noir allows, which at times can be an indulgent luxury,” says Perry Mason‘s Matthew Rhys of the 1930s-set HBO series from Team Downey. “But it really allows you the time for things to unfold. It’s a real luxury, I think, for actors to have that kind of time and space, and real estate.”
Chatting before Perry Mason was canceled by HBO on June 6 after a two-season run, Rhys certainly has a strong sense of time and space tacking the iconic character in the heart of the Great Depression and the rise of Fascism in Germany, Italy and Spain. However, spare a thought for the poor prince, Kendall Roy.
While each member of the Roy brood has their pros and cons, it’s arguably Jeremy Strong’s Kendall Roy that bore the brunt of the show’s ability to pull the rug from underneath you. When "Succession" ended on Sunday, May 28, with the final episode of season four, some fans wondered about the choices made by the only daughter of the Roy family: Shiv. Brought to life by Sarah Snook, Shiv has been something of an outsider compared to her brothers and dad throughout the series. Kendall (Jeremy Strong) was picked from an early age to be his dad's successor. Roman (Kieran Culkin) also worked for Waystar Royco, though he was always a bit of a mess. The eldest brother, Connor (Alan Ruck), was always on the outside, but by choice. Even Shiv's husband, Tom (Matthew Macfadyen), is part of the company. Shiv is supposed to be the conservative family's liberal daughter, and in another story, she'd be the voice of reason who manages to move the family to the left. A hero. That's what some fans thought would happen leading into the final episodes...

This article contains spoilers for the series finale of "Succession."
There was never going to be a happy ending. "Succession" is a true Shakespearean tragedy for the ages, where no one is a winner because every "hero" has some fatal flaw. It's no massive shock then that "With Open Eyes," the series finale, is one of the cruelest, most brutal episodes of television in a long time. Despite the fact that fans have grown attached to the various characters, they are all monsters deserving of their fates, and showrunner Jesse Armstrong and finale director Mark Mylod didn't pull any punches. There are a few less-miserable fates for a couple of the characters, but pretty much everyone loses. Even ole Tommy Wambsgans (Matthew Macfadyen), who managed to secure the Waystar-Royco throne for himself, doesn't seem particularly happy when the final credits roll. There was never going to be a happy ending. "Succession" is a true Shakespearean tragedy for the ages, where no one is a winner because every "hero" has some fatal flaw. This article contains spoilers for the "Succession" series finale.
"Succession" has never been a show with tidy, open-and-shut conclusions, and the series finale — "With Open Eyes" — wasn't any different. The last scene features Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong), having permanently lost his chance to run Waystar Royco, sitting in a park and unsure of what to do. The conclusions to these characters' journeys are as fitting as they are open-ended.
In the after-show featurette streaming on Max, series creator (and episode writer) Jesse Armstrong acknowledged these characters still have lives ahead of them. However, with no worries about spoilers, Armstrong was finally able to make his full case for why season 4 was the time to call it quits:
"I thought about all their stories. You know, they don't end. They will carry on, but it's sort of where this show loses interest in them because they've lost what they've wanted, which...

There have been lots of fan theories flying around about the series finale of "Succession," but it looks like one of them might have been spot-on. TikTok user NameBerry posted a short video breaking down the theory that the show's ending has been in the cards all along, and it's all hidden in the surname of one character: Tom Wambsgans (Matthew MacFayden). In the TikTok, NameBerry explains the origin of the name Wambsgans, which has something to do with the belly of a goose, but then reveals that the show's writers might have picked the name for another reason. Tom shares a surname (with slightly different spelling) with a baseball player, Bill Wambsganss, who went by "Wamby." Ol' Wamby played for the Cleveland Indians in the 1920s and is remembered for one very special play he made during the 1920 World...

Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers from “With Open Eyes,” the series finale of HBO’s “Succession,” now streaming on Max.
What a relief that the only votes being counted in the “Succession” finale were those of Waystar Royco board members.
“Succession’s” series finale returned the show’s focus to the Roy family and their moves and countermoves against one another. How refreshing, after a season that was, on the whole and especially in recent weeks, cludgily paced and oddly unfocused. The polish and elegance of the show’s final moments stands in crisp counterpoint to a stretch of episodes that didn’t have the juice: It was as though the confirmation, at last, that the family business really would be changing hands reminded the show what gave it its elemental power.
To wit: The final episode exists within the context, and the long hangover, of the recent, still-contested presidential election,...

Spoiler warning: Here is a recap of the Succession season 4 And series finale, “With Open Eyes,” directed by Mark Mylod and written by creator Jesse Armstrong.
Succession, the Emmy-winning HBO family saga, about the Roys and their in-fighting for control of the media conglomerate, Waystar Royco, came to an end after four seasons — and in the process, finally revealed who would have a seat at the table as the company determined who would become CEO once and for all.
This comes after season 4 of Succession kicked off the Roy siblings — Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Roman (Kieran Culkin) and the secretly pregnant Shiv (Sarah Snook) — determined to start their own media company following their failed coup to take out their father, Logan (Brian Cox), in the season 3 finale, when they were betrayed by Shiv’s husband, Tom Wambsgans (Matthew Macfadyen), and their cousin, Greg Hirsch (Nicholas Braun).

There’s no Iron Throne, but the stakes feel just as high.
“Succession”, the critically acclaimed drama chronicling a Murdoch-esque feuding billionaire family, wraps its four-season run on Sunday May 28 with a highly anticipated 88-minute finale.
And just like another tentpole HBO show, “Game of Thrones”, there’s no shortage of theories over how the series will end and who will prevail. But instead of a throne, the Roy siblings are battling over the sprawling Waystar Royco media empire.
The Shakespearean-level intrigue has prompted speculation among fans looking for clues in past episodes, characters’ names and elsewhere. Even the final episode’s title, “With Open Eyes”, has critics poring through the John Berryman poem that has been used for each season finale’s title.
Here are some of the questions that remain as the finale nears.

Succession is in the home stretch and with it comes the question of who will come out on top? Without patriarch Logan Roy (Brian Cox) at the helm of Waystar Royco, things are quickly fraying among siblings Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Shiv (Sarah Snook), and Roman (Kieran Culkin). While eldest Connor (Alan Ruck) appears more concerned about securing a future in the political landscape, Shiv, Roman, and Kendall are making power plays that have yet to really pay off. (Credit: HBO) After allowing Mencken (Justin Kirk) to become president and with Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård) still pushing for his acquisition of the company, it seems like the game is anyone’s to take. Although no matter who “wins” the lead spot, there’s no sign that anyone in this series has a “happy” end in sight. Still, it’s interesting to ponder who will manage to snag the seat left behind by Logan,...

It’s one minute to midnight on the doomsday clock of HBO’s Succession, as Jesse Armstrong’s series heads into its finale after four seasons of watching the Roy family tear each other apart. Logan Roy (Brian Cox) might’ve bowed out early, and while we wait with bated breath to see who will be his true successor, an unlikely horse is coming up the outside of this race.
While most of “Church and State” was taken up by Logan’s funeral, the Roy kids couldn’t even bury their father without things turning to business. It’s Shiv (Sarah Snook) versus Roman (Kieran Culkin) and Kendall (Jeremy Strong) in the race to be CEO, but as the Roys turn on each other, it might be a case of “the call is coming from inside the house,” meaning we should all...

This post contains spoilers for "Succession" season 4, episode 9, "Church and State."
In the season 6 "Game of Thrones" episode "The Winds of Winter," Cersei Lannister plants explosives under the Sept of Baelor and blows it sky high with several of her biggest enemies trapped inside, radically reshaping the political playing field of Westeros in her favor. Last night's "Succession" episode (which also featured several of the show's key characters sharing a cavernous space) was explosive in a more metaphorical way, but the ripple effects of what happened at Logan Roy's funeral may end up being just as important to this show's characters as Cersei's masterstroke was to those who sought the Iron Throne.
Mark Mylod, the director of this "Succession" episode, also happened to be a "Game of Thrones" director. But in order to film the emotional, dynamic, and sometimes nail-biting funeral of Logan Roy, he went further back in his...

Though they may not be conventionally intelligent (and in many cases they’re outright dumb), Logan Roy’s children sure are a well-educated bunch. Never has that been more apparent than in Succession‘s second-to-last episode “Church and State.”
Even as the Roy siblings gather at a church for their father’s funeral, they are each still able to conjure up some impressive deep cut real life factoids. When the politically-inclined Connor (Alan Ruck) meets with almost President-elect Mencken (Justin Kirk), he pitches him on a “Pan-Hapsburg American-led EU alternative,” which we’re pretty sure just means restoring the Hapsburg dynasty. Mencken, who isn’t Logan Roy’s son but might as well be, hits Shiv (Sarah Snook) with an equally obscure “kinder küche kirche” reference upon learning she’s pregnant. Naturally, that’s a phrase from the German Empire used to...

[This story contains major spoilers from the penultimate episode of Succession, “Church and State.”]
The final season of Succession has been taking place in consecutive days and the penultimate episode of the HBO series brings with it the day of Logan Roy’s funeral.
Brian Cox had previously talked about how he showed up on set the day they filmed his character’s grand finale in order to throw the media off of the major death spoiler that came earlier in season four of the Emmy-winning drama: “They invented this scene that I would play at this church Uptown, very fancy, big Catholic [church]. … as soon as I got out of the car, [the paparazzi] started clicking away. So immediately, I was able to put off the fact that it was my funeral.”
The celebrity funeral was the focus of “Church and State,” written by creator Jesse Armstrong and directed by Mark Mylod. The major day in the Roy family legacy drew together...

It was time to say goodbye to Logan Roy during Sunday’s penultimate episode of Succession.
Episode 9, titled “Church and State,” puts Logan to rest with a massive affair that takes place inside a Manhattan cathedral. It’s 80 minutes that are heavy with a mix of emotions as the Roy siblings are finally confronted with the reality that their father is gone. In the five episodes that led to this moment, they’ve managed to shrug off their grief with the distraction of the looming GoJo deal and the presidential election. But now, there’s nowhere left to hide.
Their grief bubbling to the surface is clear from the beginning, when Kendall (Jeremy Strong) lashes out at his ex-wife Rava (Natalie Gold) for taking their kids out of the city for fear of violent protests as the contentious election continues to play out. Then he lashes out again at his...

This post contains spoilers for the latest episode of "Succession."
The final season of "Succession" has been plugging along at an alarming pace, delivering episodes that typically take place across the course of one day. In the show's timeline, that means that it's likely been just roughly a week since Logan Roy (Brian Cox) died, despite the fact that audiences watching at home witnessed that shocking twist nearly six weeks ago. There's something unsettling about the show's new, breakneck pace, a sense that anything could happen at any time -- and not just because the show's about to end.
All of the change makes it tough to speculate about what might happen in the "Succession" finale, even as it now looms near. This week's episode took place during Logan's funeral, the day after the national election that controversially crowned right-wing extremist Jeryd Mencken (Justin Kirk) president-elect. Few things are harder to write than a eulogy. How do you even begin to sum up a person's life? How much do you share without making a speech about yourself instead of the deceased? On the latest episode of "Succession," the Roy siblings confronted these questions when they attended the funeral of their father Logan (Brian Cox).
Connor (Alan Ruck), who oversaw the funeral, has been pressing his siblings on who would be the speaker. In the end, all three of them were, plus their grumpy uncle: Logan's brother, Ewan (James Cromwell). Connor also wrote something himself, but he was ultimately barred from delivering it. We didn't get a glimpse at what he wrote, but apparently, his speech was too long and "legally actionable." Being the only sibling who doesn't say anything at Logan's funeral is a fitting...

Logan Roy is finally laid to rest in the penultimate episode of “Succession,” aptly titled “Church and State.” The right-wing media mogul’s funeral also unearths the best evidence yet as to which of his three youngest children – Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Siobhan (Sarah Snook) or Roman (Kieran Culkin) – has truly inherited the ruthless businessman’s poison. On the day after their family-owned Atn news network dubiously declared Republican fascist Jeryd Mencken (Justin Kirk) president-elect, the siblings struggle to control their sense of loss while trying not to lose total control of their larger conglomerate, Waystar Royco, to Swedish internet mogul Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård). As a result, they support and screw each other like never before.
Questionable Accounts

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Succession” Season 4, Episode 9, “Church and State.”]
When the Roy family stepped inside a church, the surrounding city erupted out of sheer indignation. It’s unfair, really. Under different circumstances, Logan Roy’s funeral would be met with celebration; the proletariat he stepped on to secure his place atop the patriarchal pile are rid of their tormentor. His empire is on the verge of collapse and his legacy along with it. But Logan’s influence outlives him, robbing the people of their long-awaited party. We see it in the streets, as protesters march in anger over an election hijacked by his offspring, and we hear it in the church, when those same kiddos proselytize their father’s life to the would-be president, their peers, and plenty others from their sacrilegious perch behind the pulpit.
But the fears of violence that shut down New York also have no impact on Logan or his funeral.

This article contains spoilers through Succession season 4 episode 8.
One of the things that makes Succession so special is the keen way creator Jesse Armstrong satirizes real world events and people. Most of the characters we see on screen draw from something tangible, a landmark moment that can be downright hilarious, or even somewhat traumatic. The show’s third-to-last episode “America Decides” takes these mirrored resemblances to a whole different level when the Roy children and associates oversee a hectic election night at the Atn headquarters. Politics have been a common theme throughout the entirety of the show, but never before has an entire hour been dedicated to the ongoing landscape of who is going to become president like this episode does.
Much of the plot revolves around the desire of Roman (Keiran Culkin) to get Logan’s (Brian Cox) right-leaning candidate Jeryd Mencken (Justin Kirk) into the White House. This...

This article contains spoilers for season 4 episode 8 of Succession.
Succession fans all know Greg (Nicholas Braun) as the dumb yet somewhat loveable cousin of the Roy siblings, but what if his stupidity was all an act? He’s done many morally questionable things under Tom’s (Matthew Macfadyen) leadership, but it never seemed like he was doing them entirely of his own volition, but rather because of Tom’s bullying. However, after a specific scene in the episode “America Decides,” we believe that Greg may be a lot smarter and calculating than he lets on.
In this episode, the election that the series has been building to for four seasons is finally happening, but not without some bumps in the road. Likely Jeryd Mencken supporters set a Milwaukee polling place on fire, destroying many of the mail-in ballots that had yet to be counted. In order to show their support...

Sequels, reboots, and revivals, oh my. Deadline has reported that Showtime is developing sequel series to Nurse Jackie and Weeds, which were once crown jewels of the network.
The sequels to Nurse Jackie and Weeds are still in the early stages of development, but Deadline hears that the prospective leads of each original series, Edie Falco and Mary-Louise Parker, are attached to star and executive produce the follow-ups. The original Weeds series starred Parker as a widowed mother who starts selling marijuana to support her family following the death of her husband. Nurse Jackie featured Falco as a pill-popping ER nurse and mother.
The Weeds sequel series would be written and executive produced by Christian Torpe, with the new story featuring Mary-Louise Parker’s character in Copenhagen. As for the Nurse Jackie sequel, it would be written and executive produced by Abe Sylvia and Liz Flahive, who worked on the original.

As has been teased for several years, a return to the world of Weeds is in the works.
Initially, a sequel series was in the works at Starz, and now, the revival is set to sprout at Showtime.
Deadline says the series is in early development but that Mary Louise Parker is set to return to headline and executive produce.
Additionally, Showtime is also working on an update of Nurse Jackie, with Edie Falco in line to return.
The Weeds sequel will be written and executive produced by Christian Torpe, creator of the popular Danish series Rita, and would feature Nancy (Parker) in Copenhagen, the outlet reports.
Both series are said to be on the fast-track, with an eye of getting them on the air as early as quarter one of 2024.
However, the deals are still being ironed out, and a potential pickup could be contingent on what happens with the Writers Strike.

[This story contains spoilers from season four, episode eight of Succession: “America Decides.”]
Jesse Armstrong says he always wanted to do a presidential election on Succession.
It was more of a question of where in the series he would tackle it, he says, ultimately deciding that it should come in the final season after Logan Roy’s death. “I’ve always felt like they have a bunch of things, this family. But, what is their primary way of acting on the culture in the political world? It’s their news channel. And an election is the best vehicle for seeing that,” the creator said on HBO’s official Succession podcast after the antepenultimate episode of the series, “America Decides.”
The episode brought the drama between the three Roy siblings to a head in the backdrop of Waystar Royco’s news organization, Atn, calling the presidential election for Jeryd Mencken (Justin Kirk) as a quid pro quo: Atn makes an...

Word of a Weeds revival is sprouting again, this time at Showtime.
Deadline reports that the premium cabler — on which all eight seasons of the Og series aired from 2005 to 2012 — is developing a sequel series that would feature the return of Mary-Louise Parker’s Nancy Botwin. The project had previously been in-the-works at Starz.

Exclusive Updated: Showtime is looking to bring back two of its signature comedy series, Nurse Jackie and Weeds. Both hail from Lionsgate Television and former Showtime chief Robert Greenblatt who has a deal at the indie studio.
Reps for Showtime and Lionsgate would not comment but I hear the followups, now in early stages of development, have the original leads, Edie Falco and Mary-Louise Parker, attached to star and executive produce. Sources stress that the projects are still coming together and deals are being negotiated.
The Weeds revival would be written and executive produced by Christian Torpe, creator of the popular Danish series Rita, and would feature Nancy (Parker) in Copenhagen, I hear.
Meanwhile, I hear the Nurse Jackie sequel would be written/executive produced by Abe Sylvia and Liz Flahive who were writers-producers on the original series. The concept is still being finalized.
Greenblatt, who I hear came up...

It’s been nearly four years since we learned that a “Weeds” sequel series was in the works. When Variety exclusively broke the news of the revival in 2019, which was then at Starz, Mary-Louise Parker was set to executive produce and reprise her role as Nancy Botwin in the potential new series. But Justin Kirk, who played her charming and unfiltered brother-in-law Andy Botwin, isn’t so sure about it.
“Even as a fan, do you really want to see us all old and coming back? By the time of Season 8, I don’t think the general idea was, ‘We should keep doing this!'” he told Variety. “Look, I love those people, I love that character. I probably know as much as you do about any future reboots.”
In Variety‘s original report, the logline for the new “Weeds” was: “The new show picks up with the Botwin family...

This article contains spoilers for season 4 episode 8 of Succession.
If there was any hope that Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong) could change his ways and become a better person in the wake of his father’s death, it has been thoroughly squashed by the latest episode of Succession “America Decides.” Watching Kendall work with his siblings to succeed in spite of his father rather than for his approval has been one of the most interesting and compelling arcs this season, but we should have known that it was too good to be true. Roman (Kieran Culkin) and Shiv (Sarah Snook) have already shown that they’re looking out for themselves above whatever bond they have as family by siding with Mencken (Justin Kirk) and Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård), respectively, so it was really only a matter of time before we saw the full return of “killer” Kendall.
Sure we’ve seen bits...
