From Covid-19 Comfort to Racial Inclusivity: L.A. Designer Rethinks American Style in New Collection
Given his last name, it’s easy to make high falutin assumptions about downtown L.A.-based designer Greg Lauren (nephew of American fashion institution Ralph Lauren and cousin of film producer Andrew Lauren). But — breaking away from his family’s East Coast mind-set and building a life on the West Coast (he’s married to actress Elizabeth Berkley and they have a son) — Lauren, 50, has been offering his own skewed version of what he calls fashion “archetypes” for nine years. Watch out, Kelly Kapowski - there's another woman in Zack Morris's life. Well, there was, and it actually happened behind the scenes of Saved by the Bell. On a Jan. 22 episode of Anna Faris's Unqualified podcast, Mark-Paul Gosselaar (who played the suave and sly Zack) revealed that he and costar Elizabeth Berkley (who portrayed Jessie Spano) actually had an offscreen relationship. "When you're working on a set, and we were young, there's no one around really," he explained. "I mean, you work and live in a bubble."
He added that opportunities to really date outside of that bubble came few and far between. "You're in L.A., right. You're in your cars and you come to set and you do your work and you're with these beautiful women and then you go back in your car . . . and you're not going to school, so you don't have a lot of choices,...

The 1995 flick "Showgirls" is known for many things ... but authenticity isn't one of them. Starring Elizabeth Berkley as Nomi Malone, a prostitute-turned-stripper-turned-Vegas superstar, the flick chronicled the dancer's rise and fall in Sin City -- with awkward lap-dances, violent pool sex and ridiculous dialogue along the way. It quickly became a cult classic for its absurdity, but in a reflective Instagram post on Tuesday, the former "Saved By the Bell" star opened up about the one rare moment of real emotion in the film. A photo posted by Elizabeth Berkley (@elizberkley) on Apr 21, 2015 at 9:44am Pdt "This was a rare moment during the filming of #showgirls where the director let the camera run and captured my authentic longing for my own dream to be a performer... In turn he captured #nomi's longing, while watching the star of the show, Crystal," she captioned a shot of her character watching Gina Gershon's "Goddess" performance.

"Saved by the Bell" star and current "Dancing With the Stars" contestant Elizabeth Berkley stopped by "Chelsea Lately" on Thursday (Nov. 7), where she and Chelsea Handler talk about the rigors of "DWTS" and how much they both love Leah Remini.
"We go way back, 'Saved by the Bell' at the beach club. ... I love her, I want her to make it to the end. She's putting herself out there," says Berkley of her friend Leah. "She works so hard, Leah. We take breaks together and have fun, we help each other. We have each other's backs."

In case you missed the chance to tweet me about the fashion you loved from Wednesday night's performances, here's the full rundown!
DeAndre Brackensick
He was a bit timid about his outfit this week because he was stepping out of his comfort zone. But I'm so happy he took my advice and wore this look for this week's show. I think it really showed off his star power.
(Left) For his performance of the soulful "Sometimes I Cry," I styled DeAndre in a shirt by Simon Spurr with vest and jacket by Ann Demeulemeester. The look was finished with Kenneth Coleshoes.
(Right) DeAndre wore, for the trio performance, a shirt by Five Crown, jacket by Guess, and Joe's Jeans. His shoes were by Creative Recreation and hat by Contraband.

This post serves as a very important reminder that Snooki’s (maybe) pregnancy isn’t the only bun in the oven in celebrity land. Joining the mom club is Elizabeth Berkley who has just announced that she is pregnant with her first child. The 39-year-old actress is married to artist Greg Lauren and is super excited about her baby, saying, “In life there are moments you cherish forever and this is one of them. We are so excited to share this moment and special news! The baby is due this summer.” And yes, her bump is already bumpin’. The last couple of photographs we saw of Berkley — we’re talking from the latter half of February — she always had some sort of long scarf action going on. We thought it was some sort of fashion statement, but now we know the real reason! She was just playing hide-the-baby-bump. Congratulations to the happy couple!

MTV is developing an unscripted project with Elizabeth Berkley and her husband, artist Greg Lauren, that is based on Ask-Elizabeth, the self-esteem workshops for teen girls that Berkley created.
Berkley has volunteered her time facilitating Ask-Elizabeth workshops in schools and for organizations around the country for 2 1⁄2 years. Her Web site, Ask-Elizabeth.com, features a library of video content intended to help empower girls worldwide.
The MTV project, with the working title "Ask-Elizabeth," is being developed in the network's News & Docs division. Amy Bailey, vp development in the department, said Berkley approached MTV with the idea.
"She does these workshops around the country with teen girls and gets them to really open up about their issues, like self-esteem and body issues," Bailey said. "We had been looking for a program that tackled the same issues, so it seemed like a perfect match."
MTV is hoping to shoot the pilot in the fall, Bailey said.
"It'll be more than just films of her workshops," Bailey said, adding that Berkley will be featured in the project while her husband will remain behind the scenes. "It'll probably be more verite, where we'll film with Elizabeth and girls around the country in their own hometowns and watch as the events unfold."
Berkley, repped by Innovative and manager Adam Griffin, recurs on CBS' "CSI: Miami" and hosts Bravo's "Step It Up and Dance." She recently wrapped production on the films "S. Darko" and "The Butler's in Love."...

A droll Mafia-movie sendup, "Friends and Family" centers on a lavish deception by a debonair gay Manhattanite who hasn't come out to his parents -- as a mob enforcer. Greg Lauren and Christopher Gartin ably lead an amiable cast of newcomers and seasoned pros, portraying devoted partners in life and crime who pose as caterers, eagerly abetted in their scheme by the Sicilian family for which they serve as trusted lieutenants.
The script by Joseph Triebwasser economically unfolds the rich setup but doesn't fully mine its comic potential, content to play gently with types rather than delve into characters. Nonetheless, this painless, sweet comedy could cook up niche action among the "gays and grays" distributor Regency is targeting when it opens May 16 in Los Angeles before a rollout into other markets.
Culture clash looms over the sophisticated Patrizzi clan, headed by the even-tempered Victor (Tony Lo Bianco), as two sets of Midwestern parents prepare to descend on New York. The Torcellis are visiting son Stephen (Lauren) and his boyfriend, Danny (Gartin), while Patrizzi daughter Jenny (Rebecca Creskoff) and her fiance Brian Lane Green) await the arrival of his folks.
Beth Fowler and, especially, Frank Pellegrino are believable as the intrusive Mrs. Torcelli and her mild-mannered husband. The Jennings, on the other hand, are a cartoonish whitebread duo who secretly lead a ragtag right-wing militia and who seize upon the trip to the Big Bad Apple as an opportunity to wage war against the "occupying federal army." Tovah Feldshuh is the unlikely leader of the plot, overdoing the comic shtick as the mom/mastermind who's perpetually exasperated with her inept husband (Patrick Collins).
The funniest mom here is the fierce Patrizzi matriarch (long-time-no-see Anna Maria Alberghetti). Unwilling to accept the truth about her sons (Danny Mastrogiorgio and Lou Carbonneau) -- straight men with talents for cooking and clothing design but no taste for the family business -- Stella repeatedly tries to convince her husband of their toughness.
Over Stella's objections, the Patrizzi sons are put to work preparing an extravagant dinner party to celebrate Stephen's father's birthday, with the family's brawny hit men enlisted as waiters for the central couple's phantom catering company. A friend of Stephen and Danny's (an exuberant Edward Hibbert) promptly begins coaching the wiseguys -- not in table service but in "The Sound of Music", Liz Taylor's marriages and other essential knowledge for any self-respecting gay man.
There's something deliriously fresh about the collision of queens, mobsters and white supremacists, but rather than igniting in comic sparks, they meet mildly. Debuting film director Kristen Coury has a feel for interpersonal dynamics but is less confident when staging larger groups, and the hoped-for hilarity doesn't quite materialize in the climactic sequence, which forgoes friction in favor of the familiar.
As the loving couple who know their way around automatic weapons but haven't a clue about spatulas, Lauren and Gartin are appealing and, with Lo Bianco and Pellegrino, come off best here for not trying too hard. The low-budget pic's production values are fine overall, with the exception of harsh, distracting lighting in early scenes.
