Our deepest sympathies, Ohio State college football fans.
Buckeyes quarterback Terrelle Pryor and four other players were suspended by the Ncaa on Dec. 23, for the first five games of the 2011-12 season. Why were they suspended? For seeling jerseys, awards and championship rings and receiving improper benefits from a tattoo parlor. Silver lining? The five players can still play against Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl.
The other players suspended include offensive lineman Mike Adams, running back Daniel Herron, wide receiver DeVier Posey and defensive end Solomon Thomas. Those players all have to pay between $1,000 to $2,500 to charity, while Pryor must pay $2,5000.
Osu's athletic director Gene Smith says the school will appeal the Ncaa's ruling. "While we believe sanctions should be rendered, we do believe they are severe. We do believe we can give mitigating circumstances for the Ncaa to consider.
