- Albert Akst was born on August 31, 1899 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA. He was an editor, known for Meet Me in St. Louis (1944), Somebody Up There Likes Me (1956) and Easter Parade (1948). He died on April 19, 1958 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
- Started at Universal in 1935. With MGM from 1941 to 1956.
- Former saxophone player for the Meyer Davis orchestra, he worked as a musician in vaudeville until 1930. He joined Metro as a short subjects film cutter and worked his way up to one of the top editors of the company.
